"Look for the sign with the bar’s name on it, then head up the narrow flight of stairs that smells like paint and freshly cut timber. That’s how to find Winnie’s, a Chinatown karaoke bar that doesn’t have any private rooms, just a few vinyl booths, some graffiti-covered tables, and a little stage in the back where you can sing that one song you’ve been rehearsing in the shower. Cocktails start at $10, and they tend to taste like Kool-Aid. There’s no telling how much booze they actually have in them, but it could be anywhere from a drop to a distillery.
