The New Firehouse Hotel Makes Los Angeles’s Arts District the Place to Stay | Vogue

"It opened in 1927 and was a working firehouse until 1980. Now, under the ownership of Dustin Lancaster, founder of hospitality group Eastside Establishment, it has been transformed into the Firehouse Hotel with wood truss ceilings, giant windows, and a concrete nameplate emblazoned with the words Engine Co. No. 17 over the double front doors. Lancaster, also known for Bar Covell and the Hotel Covell, sees the hotel as a beacon for the neighborhood with its distinct, minimalist-vintage design and cool kid ethos." - Christina Pérez
