Ballard’s Cafe Besalu Appears to Be Closed Indefinitely | Eater Seattle
"I've long considered the Ballard pastry spot opened in 2000 by James Miller — a three-time James Beard semifinalist — a neighborhood institution and destination for pastry fans. After Miller and his wife Katie sold the shop in 2017 to Herkimer Coffee and moved to Besalú, Spain, it retained a loyal fanbase who lined up for its flaky croissants and seasonal fruit pastries. In mid-February the bakery closed for a few days due to issues from a recent kitchen renovation, then extended the closure, and the latest update says management is unsure of the path to reopening, citing a long few years of COVID-related adjustments, difficult remodel complications and burnout and saying they need to regroup to find a sustainable way forward. The indefinite nature of the closure prompted dismay online and offers of help, and Besalu's management acknowledged the broader citywide challenges in food and beverage — COVID, rising costs, worker shortages — while saying they have no concrete plan to share yet." - Harry Cheadle
This review is for 10 DEL PONT *ALOJAMIENTO*
From the moment of booking confirmation through the checkout process, everything went perfectly at 10 DEL PONT. We very much enjoyed the space and the tranquility of this property, especially considering it is in the heart of a very busy area in the center of Besalú. Thank you to Isabel for the great communication before and throughout our stay - I'd highly recommend any of Domus Hut's properties for a relaxing and comfortable getaway!

Breathtaking view. Quaint, medieval walls and clean and a great menu. Best bikinis (grilled cheeses) ever. Enjoy a drink, inside or outside.

I love coffee and I mean it. Leaving in London it's not hard to find a great even amazing coffee place, but finding it in a tiny ancient Spanish town is pure luck. Finding an excellent place is a miracle! Whether you like coffee or not, weather you are from London, Sydney or New York city you won't be disappointed!

Just a delicious ginger hot chocolate here. Was a great balance of smooth melted chocolate and dried ginger for a bit of warmth and spice. Also lovely location over looking the main bridge and Jewish Steps.

Wonderful little cafe right by the baths and River overlooking the bridge. Gotta try the hot chocolate which is thick like warm pudding.

this place used to be so good, calm, and the staff, so gently. I am here today and its being a nightmare, I feel like I have to thank them to let me in and make me a very bad tea and sandwich. They are so disgusting! Ill never come back again.

Staff are unhelpful and a bit rude. Overpriced menu del día.

Really good location for a cup of coffee. The view is really nice and I enjoyed the jazz music they had playing in the background:)

This is a tiny backery place next to the ruins of the old sinagogue. If you are lucky to get the table outside, you will enjoy the best view in town: the Besalu bridge (main attraction in this area) is right in front of you. We had 2 different passion fruit cakes and infusion tea. The cakes were simply amazing. Highly recommend this place if you are passing Besalu enroute to Figueres.
