This place closed during pandemic. It has reopened! The steamed pork soup dumpling were good. Pan fried dumpling, beef noodle soup and beef roll also tasty like before. Cucumber salad crunchy.

Bring Cash! Pre-pandemic this was my go to beef noodle place, then the pandemic hit and they were closed for nearly the entire duration. I am glad they have finally reopened. Parking: can be difficult since their lot is small but you can always park on the side streets. Tea - good Beef noodle soup - tender beef, spice was not the burning type of spice but instead had more of an irritating effect. Wish the soup was hotter when served. Noodles were well made and variable in width. Enjoyed that the soup came with egg and seaweed which was a first for me in this dish. Beef rolls - great taste but wished the wrap was crispy and the dish was hotter. Pan fried pork dumplings - they had a freezer taste to them which I didn’t noticed pre-pandemic. Hopefully as they go through their batches, they will be fresher. Chili oil - you need to include this with your dining experience. It’s not spicy in my opinion (but I have a higher tolerance) but adds a beautiful flavor. Much better than chili oils I’ve had elsewhere. Each dish was $12-14. Post pandemic prices seems about average. Service was good but we were one of 2 tables present just prior to closing. I also had to run to the bank since they are cash only, but it was in the middle of the night and the bank is next door. I will be back earlier in the day on my next visit and I hope the food is served hot then and my dumplings are fresher in taste.

Google
They serve a variety of handmade noodles, dumplings, soups, and Chinese style charcuterie. You can get the dumplings steamed or panfried. All the portions were generously sized. The food was all tasty and very authentic in that it tasted. The same as the nice fast casual restaurants in China. Service was quick and friendly during an early lunch Christmas Eve. They gave us complimentary xiaolong bao for ordering more than $45. So we got 6 dishes for for $50 after tax. The restaurant interior was nice. Great casual dining option.

101 Noodle Express In Arcadia,California features delicious meat and vegetarian fresh noodle dishes that are freshly made and delicious! They also feature hand-torn noodles ,extra good! Service is fast but bring cash because it is a cash only restaurant. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and portions are generous! The pan fried dumplings are also superb and they are the larger style . . . . . #101noodleexpress #arcadiachineserestaurants #tornnoodle #dumpling #gyoza

Google
My family and I, a family of 5 orderd pick up online the price stated on the online menu is 5$. I ordered noodles, chicken dumplings, pork dumplings and veggie dumplings how was I charged 67$! my honest opinion was not happy at all. Same price as din Tai fung. I would've happily payed 67$ on din Tai fung then these rip off dumplings certainly not happy, my daughter who loves veggie dumplings was absolutely devastated when she was eating them and there was shrimp part inside. Stay away from this place, bad food dishonest people.

Great oxtail soup noodle. Chili oil is add umami to the soup. The hand torn noodle are OK Cash only

Google
Good fast Chinese food restaurant. Their chicken soup noodle is special. They even have Shandong chicken 山东扒鸡, which I have never seen in US before. Their lamp soup noodle also is a good choice. 这边的pepper sauce辣椒酱和咸菜都还不错,咸菜有点像东北的老虎菜。Pay attention that it is a cash only store.

Google
Rotten pork dumpling. Dirty dishes. No wonder there was 0 customer at 12 noon Saturday. They dared to charge for those frozen rotten pork dumpling... Everything was premade from frozen. The term taste like s h i t truly fits their food quality. Lack of better deceptive term.

Yelp
I think people need to realize that in this post pandemic inflationary world, there will no longer be places as cheap as there once was pre2020. Psychologically it does not feel good when you see little stickers on the menu taped over formerly lower prices, but that's life now. The higher prices are here to stay and they are no higher than the next shop over that also sells noodle soup, in fact it's still a bit lower. I still enjoy this place, I like their selection of dishes. We often come after taking a long stroll in the nearby LA arboretum. They're consistently good, nothing fancy dishes are what I have come to expect and love. The beef rolls are good and the portion is generous. I personally love pickled mustard greens with shredded pork noodle soup, it's like a comfort food for me and the one they make always hits the spot. The trio of cold side dishes is also enjoyable with seaweed, mustard greens and pig ears. And I love pork dumplings with leek, the one they make it so close to the homemade ones I had growing up. I will definitely come back here still. Also, it was refreshing to see a receipt that even suggests a 15% tip in these times.

Yelp
I remember when Din tau fung were cross the street and the waiting was toooo long we used to go there even they were busy and the food was good today we went we ordered 3 plates for 45$ plus tax and tep 56$ and we left the food on the table it was so bad I told the waitress that food really bad and she said ohh I'm sorry and you don't see any signs saying cash only until you get the bill ‍I'm not going back

Yelp
101 Noodle House is a stable for easy quick no frills noodles and dumplings. This location in Arcadia has a really small parking lot with limited parking, or you can park on the streets. CASH ONLY - just like all of their other locations. When my boyfriend and I came for dinner the restaurant was pretty empty. We were told to sit anywhere we wanted so we opted for a booth. The menu looked just like all of the other locations I have been too, except they have these stickers over some menu items that they no longer serve, and then white stickers over all of the prices. Inflation is real! On the bright side they still had all of the stuff we intended to get. We shared a Beef Noodle Soup with Regular Noodles ($14.50) and a Steamed Mini Pork Buns ($14.99) or pork xiao long baos. The food was prepared in a decent amount of time. The noodles came out first. They gave us really tiny sharing bowls. The soup was consistently good just like the other locations. This is the first time I got regular noodles, I liked it but I just prefer the hand torn noodles. Splurge a dollar more for those hand torn noodles if it's your first time trying 101 Noodle House. For the xiao long baos, I like that they provide a generous amount finely cut ginger. There is soy sauce, vinegar and chili oil on the table. I liked it but today's batch of xiao long baos were already pre-oozed so they were not as juicy or as soupy as usual. 101 Noodle House is a solid no frills spot if I don't want to deal with the wait at Din Tai Fung. I am glad they are consistent between all of their locations.

Yelp
I used to love this place before COVID. I've been here 2x post Pandemic and both times have been underwhelming. I used to love their beef noodle soup and I had it recently and it's laden with MSG and could use more meat. The pot sticks are still good but with places like Northern Cafe and Luscious dumplings all in the same area, this place doesn't stand out for me anymore. Service was average and the place looked the same as pre-pandemic. I don't plan to go back. Sad.

Gus Z.

Yelp
It's more of a three and a half star place but I always feel generous. The food here tends to be pretty consistent. The ambience is welcoming and always clean but the service can be a little frustrating cuz they always seem to be understaffed. I'm surprised that the prices have jumped up so much, though. I understand we are in a recession, and inflation, the aftermath of the pandemic, the war etc., has changed everything but here they've taken that a couple of steps further. For that reason alone I think this is one of my last visits. Still, if you've never tried it it's worth the experience. Recommended dishes are their hand torn Dan Dan noodles the spicy beef noodle soup, beef rolls and soup dumplings.

Jonathan C.

Yelp
Yes! These beef rolls are done well! Great crispy outer, not super saucy, chili sauce on the side to your liking, its a win win combo. Takeout process was very fast and easy. Got the order within 10 mins. Haven't tried the other dishes yet but for sure the beef rolls are solid.

Khoa N.

Yelp
The lady serving table was attentive and nice. However, the prices here are really high for the quality of food that is being served. Personally would go to Din Tai Fung and pay more for their XLB for higher quality. Just felt that each dish should have been $12-14 each. They're nearing $16-18 each. Not worth it. Ambiance is quiet, music is very low if any. Parking might be a challenge during rush hour since the lot is fairly small and mostly already used up by the employees of the area.

Yelp
Yes!!! They're back!! Amazing dumplings, and fresh crunchy cold veggies! Yummm!! Ive been a loyal customer for years, through good and bad times.. And honestly I waited with my review to see how the consistency is over my last 3 visits and let me tell you, it was great!! For the ones that gave up on this place, please give it another shot. For the newbies, go check it out!

Yelp
I've been eating at 101 Noodle Express forever. First the other location, by the bowling alley, then this one. There are so many shops selling similar stuff. Some items might even be better elsewhere. However, 101 Noodle Express is the best because they have that green salsa sauce. I love it and eat a whole jar with my meal. I've gotten the food to go many times, but it is not as good without that jar of green sauce.

Serena H.

Yelp
I stopped by on a Friday night around 6:45 pm and there was ample seating in the restaurant. My husband and I ordered the Shrimp and Pork Pan Fried Dumpling, Beef Roll, and Beef Noodle Soup. The beef was perfectly tender with some fat and tendon. The noodles ranged in width because we got the hand pulled noodle but they were cooked to a good level with some chew. The beef noodle soup does not include any veggies but they recommend adding some pickled veggies to it. Beef roll was fantastic! Crispy outer shell but soft on the inside with great sauce and flavorful beef. I would pass on their pan fried dumplings. They were unremarkable and still had some flour on the inside so it did not seem fully cooked. Overall, would come back but keep in mind parking can be hectic in the plaza!

Kin Y.

Yelp
A patron was allowed to take her dog inside while other people are eating. Probably inviolation of sanitation rules. The oxtail was terrible. Low quality, high price and over cooked.

Jeff C.

Yelp
What happened to this place? This restaurant was closed during the pandemic and re-opened and closed and re-opened. I was excited to see that it had finally reopened. Overall, the quality of the food has gone downhill. I would not be coming back.

Katherine L.

Yelp
I swear I came here not too long ago and was able to pay credit card! Came here this past Saturday (6/4/22) and was told it's cash only - thank goodness I carried enough on me! 101 had been such a staple in Arcadia and I'm so glad it re-opened. The beef rolls are just as good as I remembered it, and their noodle dishes hit the spot. My family and I came here at 11am on Saturday right when they opened, and was told that the kitchen isn't ready to make beef rolls and/or scallion pancakes since the designated pan/frying pan isn't heated up to the right temperature yet. Since we were also in a hurry to get out, we missed out on the signature dishes. :( Other notable mentions are their shrimp/pork dumplings, dan dan noodle, and the cold appetizer chicken dish. Honestly can't go wrong getting anything here

Regina C.

Yelp
I much prefer this place over Din Tai Feng. Why? The food is closer to authentic like the food I grew up eating. Din Tai is good but it's too shi-shi for me. Portion sizes here are decent for the price. I usually get the pan fried pork dumplings, beef noodle soup, xiao long Bao, beef rolls, and fish boiled dumplings. I've also tried the Zha Jiang Mian, Dan Dan mian and they are pretty good. The service has gotten SLIGHTLY better than pre-pandemic. We used to dread the waitresses because they were absolutely abusive to customers. I got into a shouting match with one before because she was so incredibly rude to my mom that I couldn't stand it anymore and told her to mind her attitude. So they get one one less star for having awful customer service. The ridiculous part is that we keep going back for the food. Lol!

Julius G.

Yelp
Horrible food. Thieves. I went with family to eat there because previous visits were memorable with fragrant bowls of spiced beef noodles. Now new owners serve bland noodles and accept only cash or Venmo/Zelle I tried to pay Venmo but app didn't pay vendor, so I paid using Zelle from my bank acct. Next day Venmo app say I did pay. I ask for refund through Venmo requesting Jingru return my $63. They ignore my request. Don't eat here bland food owners are thieves.

Clarissa T.

Yelp
This location has reopened!! Yay! Sadly the parking lot is still small and tiny. It it's at least not blocked in the middle anymore. I called my order in to reduce my waitt at the restaurant. As expected, prices have gone up but quality hasn't. They are definitely short staffed but the auntie serving is HUSTLING. She was the only person manning the entire front of the restaurant.

Ricky M.

Yelp
I really like this 101 location because they have been consistently phenomenal. I came here late one night and the portions were generous and absolutely tasty. I came here today for a late lunch and again, they really delivered. Both visits, I came when I was quite hungry, but man, it was so bomb diggity good. I had the dan dan noodles, one of my favorites along with the fried green onion scallions pancake as well as the beef noodle soup. Yummmers!

Christyl J.

Yelp
When I'd heard this lo action had reopened I'd tried visiting a couple of times. Except their hours seem to be based on whenever they feel like being open. A month ago I tried o. A Sunday at 4pm, closed. Next time was 3 weeks ago at 8pm, they were closing at the time even though listed hours said 9:30pm. Tried calling twice, no one picked up. Second time I was actually standing outside and the phone was ringing but the woman working there ignored it. Finally came tonight at 7pm, only 3 other parties eating at the time. Prices have doubled! Like I get needing to up prices a little, but the dan Dan went from 7.99 to $14! That's price gouging! Sure the food still tasted good but I see why the place had next to no one eating there now. No one wants to pay that much, it makes so you don't wanna buy anything else!

James E.

Yelp
Beef wraps are literally unrivaled. I also usually get the hand torn Dan Dan noodles. Cucumber appetizers are good also but a bit pricey for appetizers. Beware , I believe it's cash only .

Dave X.

Yelp
Goodbye 101 Noodle Express! Prices doubled, service is horrible, Cash Only unless you spend $60, horrible parking, and all for mediocre food. Not worth it anymore. I'm not surprised this place is always empty now.

Lily H.

Yelp
Craving some juicy dumplings or a nice bowl of meaty noodles? 101 Noodle Express is just type place. This restaurant is located on Baldwin Ave by Ding Tea and just about across the street from Jazz Cat. Parking in this plaza is normally crowded due to the amount of available parking spots and the number of other restaurants in the area. This review is solely based on a take out review. You can call in your order and they will tell you it's a 15 to 20 minute wait. Upon entering the store you pay for your food and off you go with your meal. I highly recommend their pork and veggie dumplings pan fried style. It's nice and crispy on the outside and juicy with every bite. It goes so well with that chili oil that they provide. Or you can stick with the usual soy sauce, can't go wrong with that either. On this order, also tried lamb noodles with hand torn noodle style. The noodles are thicker and shorter; almost like pasta. The soup was excellent and flavorful. There were also plenty huge pieces of lamb so no complaints there. If you're looking for a good hearty meal 101 Noodle is a good place to go.

Ticha B.

Yelp
Quick and pleasant service. Food came out super hot and quick. I love 101's XLB pork dumplings. Hand torn noodles are always good either with the beef soup or Dan Dan Mein. Plenty of parking and CASH ONLY.

Peng C.

Yelp
This place is the worst restaurant I've ever been to. We ordered a salad plate and it tasted like spoiled already. The food quality is not even close to fair. I don't recommend this place and will never go there again.

Nancy A.

Yelp
I'm guessing people come here for the cheap eats. We got xiao long bao, brisket soup in hot (spice level), cold cucumber and spicy beef over rice. The best part of the meal was the cold cucumber. That totally says a lot about the place, I think. Where shall I start? The brisket soup was average at best. It lacked flavor and definitely was not spicy at all. I had to add both the chili oil and the other chili to give it more spice and flavor. The hand cut noodles had that chewiness and was cooked al dente. The spicy beef over rice was the second best thing. The portion was big, but it was mostly rice. The rice dish also needed spice and in fact, I added chili oil and chili to everything. The items that were supposed to be spicy were mild. The xiao long bao was mediocre. The skin was too thick, soup was minimal and the meat inside was bland. At least the cold cucumber was fresh and delicious. I won't be back. I still prefer Din Tai or Mama Lu.

Annie L.

Yelp
So glad this location is now re-opened! They are cash only and do not take Venmo. Overall the restaurant is pretty spacious and there was no long wait until the San Gabriel location. Prices are the same here so I highly recommend coming to this location if you don't want to wait. Their beef noodle soup is an absolutely must order item here as well as the beef rolls and boiled dumplings. I usually prefer potstickers but I think their boiled dumplings here are so much better. I love how thick the skin is and how juicy the pork is. There's so much juice inside the dumpling that it's almost like a soup dumpling. Parking is super simple as it's located in a strip mall. However I can see how it can get crowded sometimes so if you can't find parking you should park in the residential area.

Drew Q.

Yelp
This a Taiwanese restaurant chain. There are a few locations. Been here so many times so obviously I really like this place. There's a parking lot but Parking can be hard to come by during peak times as it is in a strip mall with other shops. Service isn't the best sometimes and most of the waitresses English isn't the best. But on to the food. I have tried a lot of the menu and have never had anything bad. It's all good. However items that are must haves are the dumplings(boiled, steamed or pan fried ) , beef roll, hand torn noodle dishes. Love the food here and big reason why this one of my favorite dining spots in the area. So do yourself a favor angive this place a try.

Mulan R.

Yelp
Very happy they have reopened. We got take out tonight- appeared they are ONLY doing take out although I didn't see a sign. Food took a little longer than they told me. Prices have risen significantly (see example menu pics). Dumplings (pan friend and xlb) wrappers were a little too thick but flavor was good. I'm not sure if they added a service charge or if I was overcharged because the I was charged $108 for 2 orders of pan fried dumplings, 3 xlb, 1 beef noodle soup, and 2 scallion pancakes. I paid by Venmo and didn't get a receipt. Will be sure to check next time.

Will X.

Yelp
101 Noodle Express is a SGV mainstay that can satisfy most of your Chinese food cravings ranging from beef noodle soup to dumplings to beef rolls all at a decent price. The beef noodle soup broth is flavorful, the beef well cooked, and noodles have a good texture. Decent amount of beef as far as beef noodle soup goes. The dumplings are nice and big and come with a good amount of filling and boiled to the ideal point. Plaza parking available.

Lia W.

Yelp
i love love LOVE their lamb noodle soup. i love lamb noodle soup anywhere honestly and I know a lot of people don't really have mutton for their favorite meat. the thing about here that separates other places that serve lamb noodle soup is definitely the noodles. the additional dollars to get that handpulled noodle is 100% worth it. the lady who usually works their is also very hardworking for managing like 10 tables while I was there. she recommended I add the green chili/jalepeno stuff in the jar and I'm glad I did bc it gave not only a good kick of spice but also some extra peppery essence which I love. i will be coming back here often and will always keep the lamb noodle soup as my #1 order

Peter H.

Yelp
The food here is awesome but it's a little too pricey in my experience. Also, th ey don't accept credit card. Vendor that does not accept credit card is always a negative for me. We live in a society now that needs to accept credit card everywhere.

Daisy G.

Yelp
I orderes and the veggie dumplings and had it with some pineapple fried rice... And extra chili oil! Portions and at huge. So delicious!

Jennifer Y.

Yelp
This had been my go-to for several years but they've really been going downhill!! My most recent experience here was horrible and enough to have me update my review! They forgot to place our order twice!! The first time, they didn't place our order at all and we noticed other tables who got there later receive food first. They apologized and a few dishes came out but we were still missing our dumplings! It turns out, they forgot to place that order and assured us it would come out next. But nope - I watched at least 4 other fried dumplings come out before flagging them down again. All this time, I was telling them I had to catch my flight and they didn't move with an ounce more of urgency. We also don't even order the beef rolls anymore because they keep getting tinier and tinier and less crispy. It's really a hit or miss now.

Rebecca W.

Yelp
101 Noodle House IS yo momma's noodle house. Upon walking in, you'll be greeted by actual Mandarin speaking hostesses. They will welcome and seat you with the same warm politeness as that of a Taiwanese family dinner. You sit down and open the menu. As you scan the delicious variety of Chinese food, a single tear will well in your eye as your childhood begins tickle your throat. If you don't know what to order, ORDER THE BEEF ROLL. "Oh but I've already had the beef roll at Pine and Crane--" YO LISTEN UP: ORDER THE BEEF ROLL. You are in the heart of Arcadia aka China the Sequel. You are not in hipster Silverlake. The hoison sauce to beef to scallion pancake ration is perfection, giving this dish its signature sweet yet umami flavor. The Pork Soup Dumplings were my 2nd favorite. It's no DTF. It's BETTER. Your wallet will thank you, as well as your belly. Don't sleep on these! Each bite is like a little reservoir of soup breaking - the walls of the dumpling skin releasing a cascade of pure bliss into your mouth. Cue that synesthesia scene from Ratatouille, and that is an accurate depiction of what you will experience when you have these. I also got the Beef Tendon Noodle Soup here. The broth was super clear, not very salty. The tendon was soft and chewy - the perfect texture. I personally would have liked a heavier, saltier broth (like that in kalgooksu), but not everyone is a salt mine like me so it's just a matter of preference. This place only takes cash so make sure you roll up with a friend who rolls in paper dough.

Shelley T.

Yelp
They are known for their beef rolls. Fresh and a little crispy. So yummy! I tried the pork also. It's the BEEF that is my favorite. I like the sauce. It's not a lot of sauce so, you can taste the beef. More of a drizzle. I do love sauces bc, I am a saucey girl. Service was fast! Ambiance it was quite there when we went it was a hour before they closed. It is far from my house but, it was worth the drive. If you haven't tried it. I think you should.

Francesca H.

Yelp
Food is really good, but remember to bring cash :)

Yelp
Looking for an inexpensive, yet delicious noodle and dumpling house in the SGV? 101 Noodle Express is the place to go! It was my first time here on a Sunday evening, and the tables were pretty packed with starving customers. I came with a large group, so we ordered a lot of dishes. The ones I tried were the steamed pork dumplings (XLB), boiled shrimp and pork dumplings, pan fried leek and pork dumplings, pickled vegetables and shredded pork rice noodle soup, beef roll, shandong chicken, and the hot and spicy beef hand torn noodle soup. Steamed Pork Dumplings (10)- a spin on the well known XLB. These have a much thicker skin, with a good amount of soupy broth and a big, tasty filling of pork. Boiled Shrimp and Pork Dumplings- just how they sound, nothing special. I actually prefer just the pork filling instead of the seafood inside. It reminded me of a boiled siu-mai- tastes great with the soy sauce and vinegar blend. Pan fried Leek and Pork Dumplings- these were my favorite in terms of filling. The flavors were delicious and I absolutely loved the crispy bottom of the dumplings. Shandong Chicken- this dish was very unique. The chicken was tender and had delicious flavors. I really enjoyed how there were cucumbers mixed in as a refreshing addition to the dish. Pickled Vegetables and Shredded Pork Soup- I was a bit confused as to what the pickled vegetables were, but it ended up actually just being pickled shreds of cabbage and mustard greens. When the soup arrived, the smell was indescribable. It smelled and tasted amazing!! Hot and Spicy Beef Noodle Soup- this one has to be my favorite. The broth was incredible, and it wasn't too spicy to be unbearable. There were so many flavors, and the broth was addictive. I highly recommend getting the hand torn noodles for a unique texture and flavor that you can't get from the regular noodles. Beef Roll- this place is known for having beef rolls. I love the green onion pancake that surrounds the delectable beef inside. A must order here! Overall, 101 Noodle Express is always a hit if you are unsure about what to eat for lunch or dinner. The prices are affordable and the quality of the food is superb. There are other locations, but this one on Baldwin is a nuisance with the parking. Other than that, I will definitely be returning to satisfy my newfound craving of beef noodle soup!

Erik W.

Yelp
There quality is always consistent and my favorites to get are hand cut Dan Dan noodles and the beef wrap. I also get the beef noodle soup (niu rou Mian) but there soup is always very low amount when I get it to go. Always more noodles than the soup, that's why I give it the 4 stars instead of 5.

Jasmine G.

Yelp
Closed without notice! We checked Yelp about hours and it showed they should be open. Thursday 7PM - not any of their listed closing hours. We drove about 1 hour westbound facing the crazy sunset, and completely waste of time. We got grumpy with hungry tummy. Why did they not inform customers if they are closed?

Doreen T.

Yelp
Long overdue review! We have been coming here for years (Dine in and take out) and it always satisfied our noodles and dumplings cravings. Bring friends so you can share a different varieties! Love how they're open late til 11p so we sometimes come here for a late night meal after a movie at the mall. Some of my favorites are: Beef rolls, shrimp and pork dumplings (both boil and fried), Da Lu Noodles, Minced Pork noodles, Eggplant with pork noodles, beef noodles soup. Their hand torn noodles are always amazing as well. The waitresses here all work really hard, they are always busy but will get you what you need if you just ask. Most can speak both Cantonese and Mandarin. Everything is reasonably priced at about $9 and the portion are great for sharing. One star knocked off for cash only and sometimes the tables can be a bit sticky.

Yelp
Great place to stop by or order to go if you are eating late (and most other restaurants are closed by 9-10pm). My usual order: 1. Shrimp & pork wonton - the wonton is a good portion size, and the soup with seaweed is so flavorful!! I would just order this for the soup itself. 2. Spicy beef noodles w/ hand torn noodles - also a-m-a-z-i-n-g. Nice huge beef chunks. 3. Yeung chow fried rice and spicy beef rice - not too oily and super tasty. 4. Yellow leek shrimp pork fried dumpling - a good amount of meat filling and the wrapper does not taste too doughy. 5. Beef roll - ditto with the other yelp reviewers on this item. They put enough signs on the restaurant to remind you that it is CASH ONLY, plus they will remind you on the phone order as well. That is fine, because most items are under $10 anyways. They might not have the friendliest waitresses in town, but I would still come back here just for the food. Their dining area is a nice modern upgrade.

Yelp
Skip waiting in line at the Santa Anita Mall for Din Tai Fung and eat dumplings here instead! 101 Noodle Express is a fantastic hole-in-the-wall dining spot for soup dumplings and Dan Dan noodles. Customer service is welcoming and food arrives within 10 minutes or less after ordering when you come before peak dining times. Prices are inexpensive and you get more bang for your buck here than you would eating at Din Tai Fung. The soup dumplings are savory, the right amount of juicy goodness, and are packed generously with protein depending on the dumplings you order (pork, shrimp, beef). I would recommend also trying this restaurant just for their Dan Dan noodle dish alone! So incredibly amazing - the subtle peanut flavoring and chili oil sauce, rich umami taste of the minced pork, good amount of thick egg noodles, and topped with thinly sliced cucumber strips for a refreshing taste contrast and texture... assembles a marvelous comfort food dish. Comfort food here really hits the spot, especially their Dan Dan noodles! I will definitely be returning whenever I'm in Arcadia and have an appetite for some juicy dumplings and noodles.

Yelp
It's such a sad, sad shame that everything about this place has changed from five years ago, including the overall layout, menu and taste. It used to be a casual spot, furnished with round wooden tables, spacious enough for large group of family and friends looking for a place to grab a bite knowing that it's quick and fresh. Now, they added booths all around to make it appear more modernized. I didn't care for this new look so much. Service also seemed slower than what I remembered. Their menu have pictures but the pictures are deceiving. When we ordered the cold dishes, every single one of our plates had a hint of "mala", which I can't stand. The mala flavoring left this long, lasting spicy numbing effect in my mouth that I tasted nothing more than mala itself. What is up with China and their instinctual use of mala to everything?!? The fish dumplings were a big disappointment as well. While the fish dumplings I had before used to melt in my mouth, they are now wrapped with thick flour with lumps of grinded meat that could easily be mistaken for any meat because it comes with no taste or flavor. Frozen meat tends to do that. I'd be more forgiving if the prices were right but considering the lack of texture, flavor and freshness, the prices were not justified.

Yelp
Reopening! I am so glad this place is reopening, I used to come here all the time pre covid. I always order the lamb noodle soup with hand torn noodles. It's as good as remember! The meat is still well seasoned and the noodles are still thick. Even the portion of is the same. The only thing that changed was that the broth was bland. I had to add soy sauce. Overall great restaurant to come back!

Yelp
Although the name of this restaurant is 101 Noodle Express, I think their beef roll was the best dish. The service was so-so but it might had to do with the fact that we went there during the staff's lunch time so they were a bit short-staffed. One of the ladies did apologize for forgetting our tea.  Pig's Ear with tofu. I personally do not like this, I think it lacks in flavor. It's neither spicy nor salty... nor anything...   Beef Roll. This is the best dish and the reason why I decided to come here. The wrap is crispy, soft and flaky to the right amount and the beef inside was juicy. I don't really like cilantro but it mixed well with the beef in this dish. Usually other places only have one beef roll per order, but they serve two rolls here! There was so much food we had to take the remaining beef roll home. Still tastes good after I put it in the toaster.   Lamb Noodle Soup. If you are looking for something light, I think this is a good dish. The soup is quite clear but the lamb was surprisingly flavorful. I really liked the taste of the lamb, but I didn't like the noodles because it tasted a bit soggy.   Overall, I would come back just for the beef roll.

Yelp
Came here for an early dinner on a Sunday with my family. The place was pretty empty, so service was quick. We ordered the xiao long bao, scallion pancakes, pan-fried pork dumplings, beef noodle soup, and three-item appetizer. The XLB here has thicker skin, but somehow a few were already ripped or ripped once we picked them up because they were stuck together. It almost seemed like the XLBs sat around for too long. The scallion pancakes were too thin (no layers) and lacked flavor. The pan-fried dumplings were quite juicy but could've been pan fried a bit longer (parts of skin were soft), and the beef in the noodle soup was tender. The three-item appetizer came with a good amount of each appetizer, so it was a good value. On average, I'd rate the food here about 2.5 stars. I'm willing to give this spot another try, but so far the Alhambra location seems to make better food (at least for my favorite types of dishes) than this one.

Yelp
Beef tendon noodle soup was bland and cold. I thought maybe we took too long to pick up our order, but my co worker's hot and sour soup was very hot. The hot and sour soup was also kind of bland as well. Both orders lacked any depth or savoriness. These was about 4 small pieces of tendon in my noodle soup and the soup container wasn't even near full. I guess they thought I wanted space to dump the noodles in. The hand torn noodles were decent, but I wouldn't return just for that. CASH ONLY and parking is very limited here.

Yelp
101 Noodle Express In Arcadia,California features delicious meat and vegetarian fresh noodle dishes that are freshly made and delicious! They also feature hand-torn noodles ,extra good! Service is fast but bring cash because it is a cash only restaurant. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and portions are generous! The pan fried dumplings are also superb and they are the larger style .

Yelp
Under rated. Great food, cheap prices, quick friendly servers, easy parking. 4 stars because it's a cash only place. Too bad it's not closer to home. Fam bam and I were at Anime Expo, but stayed in Azula area (cheaper hotel rates). Decided to wander around (based on Yelp Asian categories) and ended here. I was skeptic at first...but left completely satisfied with no eaters remorse. Had Dan Dan Noodle, Spicy Beef Tendon, dumplings, Beef and Bean Curd Noodles, Beef Roll and maybe, almost the whole table jar of green chili. 5 of us total and had a lot of left overs! I'm am sooo gonna try to make that green chili at home, if I fail, we'll be making a drive back with Cash, since it's a cash only place :)
