Maui World Travelers

Google
While I'm not a sushi fanatic, I did see a photo of shoyu ramen on a review site which is what sparked my interest here as I'm a ramen maniac! And, being that Maui has a weak ramen scene, I have to get my kicks where I can. ATMOSPHERE: They're located within the South Maui Center, a multi-building complex that also houses their neighbor, Fabiani's Bakery & Pizzeria. The all-indoor seating area is bright and clean with a beach theme. A small counter area seats about 10 souls along with four 4-toppers. Muffled pop music played overhead while the other diners ate silently. Luckily, we brought some life to the joint, LOL! MENU: Sake, Japanese shochu/whiskey/beer/wine, Japanese apps & seafood apps, lots of sushi, a sole ramen, miso soup. BEVERAGE: Sararito Shita Umesyu I've never had plum wine before and have been missing out! The wine is served on ice, a bit sweet but was balanced out nicely with a bit of saltiness if you will and wasn't strong in the alcohol department. Oddly, my two glasses differed in pour sizes with the second glass having considerably more. FOOD: Shoyu Ramen Other reviews on this dish weren't spectacular, but everyone has a different palate, so I had to try it for myself. Their version has a lot of potential but fell short in a few areas. First off, the portion was a bit small for the price. Secondly and worst of all, the delicate broth was lukewarm. Ugh! Why can't people understand that a hot broth combined with room temperature noodles makes for a lukewarm bowl?! There were positives though, such as the fresh-tasting bamboo shoots, the super tender chashu and the perfectly cooked noodles. Some might say the broth has no flavor but in this case it allowed for the eggy flavor of the noodles to stand out, IMO. I've had a similar light broth at Momofuku in Washington D.C. but theirs was worlds better as it was served piping hot. Salmon Skin Salad My friend's dish. She enjoyed it for the most part but did state that there was an overload of onions. SERVICE: The place was dead so we were seated immediately. Our server was very friendly, professional and checked on us often. Thank you's and mannerisms were bountiful in that Japanese culture sort of way. OVERALL: Extensive sushi menu, great service, mediocre ramen due to temperature.

My husband lived here for four years and swore by this place! Every time we come back to visit we go to togoshi and they are so kind and welcoming. And the sushi is incredible!! Can’t recommend it enough.

Google
Went here on our last night in Maui on a recommendation from our VRBO guest book and loved the experience. The 1054 Togoshi Roll, Spicy Scallop Roll, and the Ahi Salad were some of the best sushi I have ever had.

Google
I called early in the day and left a message wanting reservations. My call was returned promptly and we made reservations for the following day, Friday, for two...no problem! So nice to have my call returned. We sat at the counter, very nicely decorated, very clean, calm beachy feel. We ordered many different items and loved all of it. So beautiful, fresh and delicious, excellent service, so courteous and prompt. A very warm, inviting and comfortable place. This is a truly excellent sushi restaurant, not a trendy all you can place. The chef is very talented and his wife (server) is amazingly polite and an excellent server and support to the chef. Parking was no problem although the spaces are small, restrooms available and handicap accessible. Be sure to ask the market price before ordering those items, if you’re watching cost.....you could be surprised by a very costly uni.

Google
Very good sushi and fish. A little pricey but the service is super good!

Google
A lot of love has gone into this restaurant, and the food as well. We're visiting the island and have heard that this place was good, but I'm just blown away at the experience. Every piece of the meal was delicious. The ingredient temperature and proportions were all spot on. The fish was fresh and delicious. And the rice (most importantly) was done to perfection. The couple running the place were extremely friendly. This is the best sushi I've ever had in my life. The atmosphere was so comfortable and we had such a lovely time. Thank you for adding such a bright spot to our vacation experience.

Google
One of the best sushi experiences in Maui. While the location and decor isn’t the fanciest the sushi does not disappoint. I had many pieces of high quality fish that tasted very fresh and reminded me of something I would get at a very upscale sushi restaurant. I really liked how real wasabi was used and I also loved the tuna salad. If you are coming to Maui and want to experience good sushi I would recommend coming here.

Google
This was a great experience! The couple running this place are doing a fabulous job. The service was SO fast which surprised me! We tried the edamame, California roll, and spicy hamachi roll. All great! The spicy hamachi roll was one of the best quality fish in a sushi roll we have ever had. The whole place is decorated marvelously and with such fun, intentional details! Definitely make this a stop!

Yelp
We really enjoyed our meal here - the sushi was excellent; not only the fish but also the sushi rice was slightly sweet (just right). We each ordered the Omakase Sushi "A", and because the meal was so good we ordered 2 more rolls to share -- the 6 piece California roll (with real crab), and the eel and cucumber roll served with warm, just cooked eel and a sweet eel sauce. Make a reservation by SMS text, with the number on their website. It's a small place, though a walk-in two-top was able to get a seat the Thursday night we were there around 7 or 8ish. We were also able to make day-of reservations a few hours before they opened for dinner service. I'd go again; and I'd also get their recommended two-bottled-beer drink again (a mix of a chocolatey dark malt with a dry light beer) -- I'm not a big beer fan or drinker in general and I found this very tasty with the meal.

Yelp
4.5/5! Food is super tasty but on the pricier side. - Rainbow roll: the calif roll base has real crab, but overall $35 - negihama - spicy scallop roll: this was the best, freshest scallop we've ever had! - loved the fresh wasabi, sweet and a little spicy -0.5 star since even though we were the only ones, service was slow (husband and wife shop) and I think they're mainly Japanese only speakers so conversation/communication was limited

Yelp
The fish is so fresh and always order their sake & hamachi sashimi. This time we got two orders of spicy hamachi and shrimp tempura rolls plus unagi nigiri. In the last six months we've been coming here monthly and am always so pleased with its freshness. The hostess/owner is such a sweetheart always going above and beyond to make us feel special and appreciated. What can I say, the space is bright, happy, full of island vibes, and lots of Aloha.

Yelp
Excellent service from door to seat and door again. Cute atmosphere with a fantastical beach-themed decor which includes Snoopy, lemurs, tiny soy sauce bottles, and a surfing cat. The delicious food and much of the graphic art is credited to the chef-owner. The food is fresh, eye-catching and the owners only use authentic wasabi, ground as needed. This place is always a hit. You can now bring your own wine for a $20 corkage, and offer a cooked fish special. We tried their paradise sushi special and were blown away by the incredible array of flavors. It was unlike any other sushi order I have ever had, with a touch of something which seemed to be a layer of aromatic greens. Outstanding.

Yelp
I acknowledge this review is in the minority. Perhaps it's an excellent place for locals and less for tourists. We had sub average experience. They are open 5-8pm. My group had rsvp at 6:30 and there was only one other party of two at the bar when we arrived. No one else came in after us. I have no doubt this is a beloved business run by a husband and wife team, but objectively service was significantly lacking for such a slow evening. It took awhile for water to be served and our glasses were only refilled once. We were mostly left alone except for when food arrived. The food was on par with what you pay. Except for the fisherman's miso soup- came with a shrimp head and a half filled bowl, no shrimp meat to be seen. It was warm and muggy inside. No AC. Sitting on upholstered couches felt sticky and comfortable. Overall was memorable but not for the right reasons

Yelp
We ate here for the first time and I was blown away. Made reservations via text message about a month out and got three seats at the sushi bar. It's a small restaurant with a few tables and seats at the bar. Very cute and playful Japan meets Hawaii decor with a bit of peanuts characters thrown in. I loved the driftwood Christmas tree! Service was wonderful despite the restaurant being full at 7pm. We started with some Hakkaisan sake and beer. The sake was dry and smooth, just the way I like to start a wonderful sushi meal. Of course I had to order the omakase, which I opted for the "Sushi B" set, which is the basic omakase but with a few additions including tamago, ikura, and since I cannot eat squid I believe they subbed tai. Everything was outstanding. Very meticulously prepared and sushi was fresh, flavorful, and expertly crafted. My favorites were the hamachi, maguro, and aji. Overall we had an amazing meal and we are already dreaming of coming back before we leave Maui. Highly, highly recommend!

Yelp
A small family run store, this delicious spot is open only for a few hours a night. Grab a reservation if you can, and checkout their Instagram because they mention preferring reservations via text, I also usually will call ahead if I don't do that. Their miso soup is unlike any other, every bite of sushi tasting so fresh. They have non alcohol and alcohol options.

Christopher W.

Yelp
Based off of a recommendation, we stopped by this wonderful restaurant and was glad we did. It's a quaint and eclectically decorated restaurant by a husband (the sushi chef) and wife (host). They do a fabulous job in terms of making you feel at home while also giving you your privacy. The fish is incredibly fresh and evidently sliced with care. Every dish is beautifully set; we had the Takowasabi (octopus in wasabi sauce), and it was fantastic. This is definitely a hidden gem and probably the best sushi on the island!

Yelp
Randomly walked in on a Friday night at 7pm, there was only one other group here - and we were hungry for some sushi! Background ambiance is a chill playlist. The two owners that run this small place do everything - makes sushi, serves food, cleans up dishes... Definition of a small business. For four people we ordered 2x chirashi, 2x aloha sushi (B) plates (12 different fish/items), ankimo sashimi, 1054Togashi roll, and a fisherman's miso soup. Meal came out to just over $400 for 4 people after tax and tip. -0.5 stars for finding ants on one of the plates we got - but the quality of fish, speed of service, general ambiance - you don't come here for "cheap" eats - you come here for the authentic food and fresh fish. For just the two of them this place is a quaint, homely place to get a meal - I am certainly glad I dropped in, but it's expensive to be a regular here, for sure. Definitely recommend trying this place if you are able to walk in (or get a reservation?). It's in a plaza where there's plenty of parking and I didn't have any problems finding the place after I figured out how to get there.

Yelp
An authentic Japanese meal and experience! The husband and wife owners are also the only two employees. They are kind, thoughtful, and detail oriented. The presentation was incredible and the food/drink were perfectly fresh and delicious!!! You can try to walk in but making a reservation is a good idea especially since they can only have a limited number at any given time. Oishi!!!!! :)

Yelp
Super small place- reserved for the 6 of us and pre-ordered our food the night before. A Mom and Pop store with the Mom doing the serving. Sweet lady but we were not offered any refills on drinks. Our preorder included the omakase A and B. Miso soup, California rolls and seaweed salad. -Cali roll- 5/5 very tasty with real crab but the pieces were cut too large -seaweed salad-5/5 not your normal green seaweed-- it's in a soupy (mirin?)mixture with a dark seaweed. It was surprisingly good with a nice vinegar bite The omakase is all on a plate- no real explanation of what you are eating - All in all, good but the omakase experience wasn't there.

Yelp
We come to Maui for two weeks in March, second to golf and eat. After playing a round of golf at Wailea Gold, we rushed to 1054 Togoshi for dinner. We started with the white snow shake and the wasabi ika (diced squid in a mild wasabi sauce). We look forward to this dish as we cannot find the same quality in the San Francisco Bay Area. Our wives both ordered the chirashi (delicious and fresh sashimi over sushi rice) and two sashimi platters B. Oh my gosh, the sashimi they serve is so fresh and delicious. They also use fresh wasabi instead of the reconstituted powder wasabi. It is not as hot and is so much more delicious. I would highly recommend 1054 Togoshi's if you desire the absolute most delicious and fresh sashimi or sushi. Satore will take great care of you if you're dining for sashimi or sushi. And her husband is a true master of preparing fish for sashimi and sushi.

Yelp
Small cute place Run by husband and wife from Japan Service on island time Sushi good fish quality good Small portions for rolls and appetizers Expect $100 per person including tip

Yelp
Togoshi makes me do a happy dance! We called for last minute reservations tonight and were lucky enough to get in! The space fills up quickly and people are sometimes turned away if the restaurant is full, which i completely understand since it's a 2 person operation. Everything is so fresh and delicious! The two of us shared a few different rolls and sashimi but managed to clean our plates. The drink menu has vodka, whiskey and sake options but we opted for beer this time. It may be a little more pricey than some of the options nearby, but you can tell they take pride in what they do and the service they provide. I also appreciate the cute decor and personal touches everywhere.

Yelp
Nominated for cutest sushi bar on Maui! This hidden gem is located in Kihei by Fabiani's. It's cozy place run by a couple. There are three 4-person tables and 6 sushi bar seats. Every nook and cranny is covered with decorations. This place is best enjoyed when you can take your time and relax. The sushi is super high quality and tastes amazing! So fresh and generous portions. One suggestion is that it would be nice to have more cooked items on the menu to choose from. Look for the friendly cats out front who eat very well on raw fish!

Yelp
Came to Maui for my birthday month and decided to have our last night/celebration dinner here. This local restaurant was an amazing choice for dinner. I'm all about taking care of local businesses when possible and I could not be more pleased, not only for the ambiance and personal preference, but the food was delicious and amazing. Recently having gone to Japan for the first time in May 2024, I was looking forward to dinner here. We didn't make a reservation and crossed our fingers that we could easily get a table for 7 if we showed up right when they opened. Gratefully, that was the right call and we got seated in a cozy spot. It's not a big place and is definitely a hidden gem; diamond in the rough. It really was special to get to experience the food and pride taken by this couple. Other posts scrutinized the portions or slow service, but true Japanese dining is not about that... it's about the flavors w/ presentation. The American food culture tends to be "bigger is better and serve me fast"and there's other restaurants that will do the job of just feeding you to get you out the door if that is what you're looking for. We started out with the Yellowtail Carpaccio and miso & seafood miso soups. Five star way to begin for this family. The group ordered a variety of food for meals from the menu. I know there was a Chirashi bowl and a signature Togoshi roll ordered. For this birthday girl, I ordered the Aloha Sashimi B Omakase and LOVED it. The seafood was fresh, flavorful, and so delicious. Very pretty too. There was unagi and uni ordered as well that we all agreed was top shelf. I know we will make sure to dine here whenever we are visiting Maui. Hands down a family favorite now. For anyone wanting that authentic Japanese dinner, 1054Togoshi won't disappoint. Come here for a wonderful meal with quality worth paying for.

Yelp
We love eating sushi in different states and countries and can say with certainty this spot is amongst the best spots we've ever eaten at. It really taste like cuisines made and shipped directly from Japan. We got the Aloha (A) omakase and miso soup with were phenomenal! We have an acquired taste for miso soup and it was on par with soup we've had in Shibuya. The service is slower since it really is just the two of them, but I can assure you the wait is worth it. The ambience feels like you are in Hawaii, but the food taste straight from Japan. With the lack of foodie spots in Maui, this restaurant would make me fly here just to get the sushi again!
google avatar

Sarr B.

Yelp
Best sashimi in the area. Somehow evaded me for years and is now my go to spot. Adorable interior and very comfortable seating. The woman owner is the sweetest, great service - there's a lot of love and pride in this place. Omakase B - delicious, salmon and hamachi are much better quality than the standard. Sunomono - excellent Miso soup - flavorful and tasty, again better than the standard California roll - real crab, very good Spicy hamachi - lots of hamachi, very fresh and yummy 10/10 extremely satisfied. Give this local family restaurant a shot.

Yelp
What a great experience! This is a hidden gem. Ono sushi! I really enjoyed the service and food.

Yelp
Very cutesy, very demure, very mindful. Service was lovely and intimate. Quiet ambiance where your whisper conversations are even heard across the table. Food was amazingly fresh and the sushi just melted in your mouth. Definitely will be back!

Yelp
We came here for a birthday celebration and it was perfect. I called ahead to make a reservation three weeks before coming. Satoe was wonderful. Communicative and terrific customer service. Ample parking in their lot right outside. With a larger party, she suggested ordering ahead, which was perfect as our food came out with a nice flow. I can't rave enough about the freshness, quality and superb presentation of our meal. We really enjoyed the salads, carpaccios and all the rolls were food porn for the eyes and mouth. She added some special surprises for the birthday boy like banner on the wall by the table and a hand written chalk board message which were super cute and much appreciated.

Kadu M.

Yelp
5 minutes in front of the door (inside) and then the host, server, cleaner came to us (only 2 people) and told that they are not able to take more people,,, was 7:18pm and they closer 8pm Ridiculous Unfortunately need to put one star to make the review
google avatar

Cynthia Z.

Yelp
Such a cute little sushi spot - you could tell the couple run this place really cared. True Japanese spirit! Sushi is of course very good. Wasabi tako was so good we ordered 2 or 3. Also really liked the toro, scallop, albacore and eel nigiri. Satoe has such a great attitude - it's impossible to not love her and support her. Best of luck!
google avatar

Yelp
Sushi lovers rejoice, there's an excellent husband and wife duo who make wonderful sushi creations. 1054Togoshi has a relaxing vacation vibe with cute hand-painted signs about the importance of practicing aloha and Polaroids of beautiful Maui scenes. The location is easy to get to from anywhere in Kihei and they have delicious fresh fish offerings. My favorite is their Hamachi carpaccio with daikon radish intermixed with chirashi leaves. The combo is so fresh and delightful. The combination plates are also the way to go if you're wanting to try different fishes. My favorite was the sashimi. Go here if you want a refreshing dining experience!

Yelp
A close friend of mine who has lived on Maui since 2020 told me this was a must stop when visiting Maui. Holy cow, I wish we didn't wait until our last day. I want to eat here again and again. The restaurant is small and intimate. Prices are extremely reasonable, service is excellent, and the food is truly outstanding. We ordered -miso soup: perfect, and one of the best I've had. It wasn't overly salty where you feel the soup need to be accompanied with beer or water to wash down. It was light and full of flavor Yellowtail carpaccio: WOW. Tangy but extremely balanced sauce toped with a very thin slice of jalapeño. If you want the extra kick fold up that bad boy with the fish and take out tastebuds to heaven, or omit and it will still make your mouth happy! 10 piece sashimi: call me a rookie, but I had the raw octopus for the first time tonight and it was delicious! All of the fish was perfectly sized, fresh and my gluttonous self wanted more. Spicy yellowtail roll: balanced with just the right amount of fish to rice ratio and fantastic flavor. Washed it all down with an Orion beer. I'm not a huge beer drinker but let me say, it was tasty. The also have wine and Japanese vodka and whiskey. It's a husband and wife owned sushi restaurant. They have something for everyone on the menu. Even a ton of options for vegan and vegetarians. Takeout is also available, and TBH, I'm going to place a to-go order before my flight out tomorrow night.

Yelp
the owner couple's friendliness makes me feel right at home when i step inside. the presentation of their food and drink totally satisfies my senses before i even taste them. and once i taste them, i don't want to leave the place! this is one of my happy places on earth! thank you!

Kristine M.

Yelp
One of the best meals we had on Maui! Definitely need to make a reservation as it's a small spot. I was able to text and easily make a reservation. It's in a shopping center so parking wasn't an issue. They're both so kind and welcoming as soon as you walk in. We sat at a table with comfy chairs and both ordered the Aloha Sushi A omakase and a beer. All of the fish was melt in your mouth amazing!! Worth the price and such a lovely dinner.

Yelp
I love the mom and pop places. The sushi here is fresh and u watch them make it. The service is a little slow but well worth the wait for the quality ur getting. Very nice people in there defiantly will be returning.

Yelp
Great small sushi bar. Went here on a Saturday night and place was surprisingly empty. Seems there's just a couple that runs the place. A little on the pricey side even for Maui but still overall good. Would go back.

Yelp
Great character inside, service is smooth and calm and the food is fresh, everytbing was just right! This was for sure a hidden gem!

Yelp
Delicious, fresh and high quality. Loved the aloha energy and lovely couple running the place. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Small business, support local, great food and outstanding service. They're a small dining restaurant and with limited seating even without Covid restrictions, I strongly suggest you call ahead for reservations. I called and left a message and the next day Satoe messaged to see if I was still interested in coming in. We made a reservation for 5 that night and I mentioned we were celebrating my boyfriend's son's visit home from being away for two years serving our country in the Navy. We arrived early and she mentioned there'd be a wait since they're busy. I told her it was fine....upon sitting at our table we were surprised to see a personalized sign for our sailor. It's those sweet personal touches that really makes me love the restaurant more. We ordered a plethora of sushi, something for everyone. The mister ordered beer for him, the little wanted juice and I opted for water. And sake ‍ Sushi order came one by one and we were absolutely so happy with each bite. Don't expect shmancy sushi here. Please go to another establishment for that. This is the real kind of sushi that adding extras is absolutely not needed. Edamame: I normally wouldn't order this because really I can get it cheaper making it at home. But it was a celebration and the little wanted some. Perfectly cooked, crisp and not mushy with the just right amount of salt. Tekka: I'm so happy that the little was happy to eat ALL of the tekka. She said it's simple but delish. Uni: silky smooooth and you get that hint of ocean. If you're an uni eater, you'd understand. I literally could've had more, but saved myself from the stares of others Eel Cucumber: unagi with unagi sauce and the cool sweetness of cucumber. Spicy Scallops: just a hint of heat with some sweet scallops. I'll admit, I'm one of those that love the masago bursts. Salmon Skin: It's like a potato chip but made with salmon skin. So crispy and tasty! One of my fave rolls that I order at almost every sushi restaurant I go. Togoshi'a version is like most, but their skin....so crispy and to hear that *crunch* is sooooo satisfying. Togoshi: an absolute must. Forget getting a rainbow roll. Just get this. You get everything including masago and ikura! Sushi pop rocks! Put it this way...if you want REAL, LEGIT sushi...go here. If you want dressed up sushi...don't waste your time here.

Yelp
Glad I called in ahead for reservations because this place is run by a couple only so there is limited seating and service. The decor was cute filled with positive beach vibes. My bf and I both really enjoyed the Sunomono, albacore carpaccio, spicy scallop roll, and Uni. Their Chirashi bowl was a lacking flavor. I had better cut & grade fish back home. Their rice was okay. We didn't care for their sweet shrimp sushi at all and the salmon wasn't the best neither. Lastly it was disappointing to find out that there is a 4% overall charge for credit card transaction. They should at least have a sign out in front to notify guests prior.

D R.

Yelp
Excellent sushi. Got salmon skin salad, sake, ikura, hamachi, saba, unagi, uni, and some rolls. Only wish they had toro!

Yelp
A woman took my call and told me she was going to send me a menu and to text her my order. Sent my large to-go order and it was ready in 45mins! Everything was fresh and delicious for our family's last night in Kihei

Vincent C.

Yelp
Everything about it was perfect . The food was amazing , the owners are the best people . I would live with these people if they would let me , their food is to literally die for . In fact it was so good I would probably sell my car to eat there every day if I had nothing else .

Susan B.

Yelp
Loved this experience as much as the sushi. The husband/wife duo really does it all and does it so well! The sushi was fresh and delicious, I highly recommend the Takowasabi, a wonderful surprise! The decor was beachy and homey, we felt as if we were dining in their home. Great experience overall!
google avatar

Yelp
Tiny place and reservations are highly recommended! Fresh sushi prepared by one person! One person to welcome you, seat you, take your order and serve you. Yep only 2 people running this fabulous sushi restaurant! Make a reservation today and go. Great for date night as it is intimate and lovely!

Yelp
Essence of omotenashi. Run entirely by a young Japanese couple only- they hustle. Husband is sushi chef; wife is owner/ waitress. Greeted with a personalized card every time. Fresh flowers on table. Ahi salad appetizer with fresh greens and fish topped with the perfect sauce. Sushi was all well-prepared, appropriate size, and sushi rice on point. Omakase selection was well-rounded. Really enjoyed the decor which reflects themes of aloha, ocean/surfing, and positivity. For Maui, sushi is 8-9/10 and service/experience is 10/10

Peter L.

Yelp
A great choice for sushi in Kihei. The restaurant and atmosphere are exceptional. It is low key, very clean, pleasantly quiet. Local decor with a fun beach type vibe. I noticed that nothing was wasted. There was no plastic used. The miso soup bowls, spoons, soy sauce wasbi dipping dishes were all glass or ceramic. Chopsticks were fancy wooden not throw away kind. The straws were bamboo. I really appreciated all that. The food was equally well prepared, fresh, and flavorful. I really liked the sunomono appetizer, the crab was real in the California roll. We had omakase A and really liked all the pieces. It was good fresh healthy sushi not the type with all the drizzles and sauces full of fat and sugar. Service was great as well. It appears to be owner operated so we were well taken care of. Definitely will be back.

Eric T.

Yelp
Went for dinner tonight. Sushi good not great. Sushi portions are small and prices are at the higher end for Maui. 35 for a rainbow roll. Service was slow. The wife spends too much time on decorating the tables before new guests arrive rather than taking care of the guests in the restaurant. Got there at 5:15 with one other couple in the restaurant. It took 20 minutes to get water and 40 minutes for food. Don't plan to go back. There are much better options in Kihei

Yelp
In the words of my skeptical 7 year old, "this is really good sushi here!" We were smiling throughout the meal from both the food and the atmosphere.

Yelp
The service was only okay, the server did not check up on us very much and when we told her we were ready for the check, she passed the table four times before dropping off the check. We were the only people in the restaurant. The food is whatever the chef wants to serve so don't go here if you're used to getting your way. I always get inari and they didn't have any soy paper for inari or to wrap any other rolls. We are sparingly and it still came out to $80. I'm sure it's great for a purist but it's not for me.

Yelp
This was the best sushi we have ever had. The quality of fish, freshness of ingredients, and warm aloha hospitality made this our new go to sushi spot. The decorations are so vibrant and beautiful! You can feel how much care and love went into every detail of this restaurant. We left feeling like we just a received a hug from the sushi gods. In the car we compared notes asking each other, "was this the best meal we've ever had?" If you haven't checked this spot out I HIGHLY recommend it. I don't know what took us so long.

Yelp
No matter how Good Your Food is and how Cute your restaurant is, Business Owners have to answer questions from customers. Customers are going to want to see the fish your have in the display case ever if there is some condensation covering the glass. Just wipe it clean it takes seconds and it will make the customer smile just like you say in you want in your mission statement. Everything we ordered very good to excellent. Miso Butterfish excellent, The Ikura and Saba Sushi were very good but I have had better rice at other Sushi restaurants. The Miso Soup and Seaweed salad we ordered with Tako was very enjoyable. Its a Husband and Wife Team and things took a turn for the worst at the end of the meal. When my Partner was complementing the proprietors, she asked the Chef if the restaurant had a business card. His first response was said he did not have one, When my partner asked a second time for number she could put it in her phone so next time we visit she can call in advance for reservations as they requested. He grunted out Goggle "Really" Like you like your Partner to be Treated like this in a place of business that she wants to go back too. Well his Wife came to rescue and gave my partner a hand written business card and a smile and we thanked each other for nicely for the transaction. Moral of the story if there is one. For the best experience If its at all possible get reservations in advance and keep your interaction with the Sushi Chef to a Minimum. He is excellent with the knife and at selecting and preparing seafood but I think he tired of answering basic questions about his restaurant see my photo for the restaurants current phone number and hours

Yelp
I highly recommend. I called to make a reservation a couple weeks ahead but got the voice mail but later was texted by Satoe who made the arrangements for me - super sweet and friendly! This is a tiny sushi place next to fabiani's on lipoa run by the sushi chef and his wife. It's decorated so cozy and cute! I got the a combo and it was PERFECT. The fish is high quality and super fresh! The rice is perfectly seasoned! My husband got the unagi eel and 1054 Togoshi signature roll and he loved both! I got to try a piece from the signature roll and OMG TO DIE FOR. I'll probably need to order that the next time I go! Overall, I would highly recommend for the great food and cozy atmosphere! Chef is busy and doesn't talk but it's ok! Satoe was so sweet!

Yelp
Another wonderful meal, expect a long wait, but it is well worth it. The food is so good. It is run by a wonderful couple who put their heart in the place.

Yelp
You need a reservation. Call them. We got a machine, left a message and then received a text confirming our reservation for the same night. We watched walk ins get turned away. This is a small quirky place from an aesthetic perspective so if u are a vibes person it may confuse you. But don't let it deter you. This is some of the best sushi I've ever had in Maui or anywhere else. I get spicy tuna roll every place I go to and this is one of the few places that use big chunks of tuna. And it is fresh, just so good. The only thing I didn't love was the cold edamame. I think having it warm might be an American thing, but I prefer it that way. This place is low key, and just good sushi. A perfect choice for sushi lovers.

Yelp
It may be the most authentic sushi on island. Small...can't possibly get any cuter! A couple owns and runs the place solo. Their creations are nothing but delectable. Make reservations. Or...maaaybe be seated at bar. But, I'd say reservations much preferred. They may not answer but will text you back! Very convenient! I'm not sure how our fish here and maui could get any fresher. But, they have figured it out! Fresh fresh fresh! Definitely give them a shot! If you like sushi this is your jam!
