11 Great Nashville Bars To See Live Music 2024

"Located alongside Centennial Park (you know, where the fake Parthenon is), The Local feels like a honky-tonk for those in the know. Small inside but with a decent outdoor patio, the bar has a listening room feel with all the trappings of a good dive—including a stuffed beaver wearing sunglasses and a statue in a hotdog suit (we don’t know, either). As unserious as its decor is, the music coming from its corner stage is top-tier. Depending on the night of the week, you can catch everything from songwriter rounds to full bands. And in a time where it’s common to pay an arm and a leg for a tiny “artisanal” burger without any sides, the Local rejects that concept wholeheartedly. Just order a G-OFF: you’ll get a big patty served on soft buns with candied bacon and jalapeños, plus a healthy helping of fries. " - bailey freeman, jackie gutierrez jones 2

Yelp
Nick and I stopped into The Local on a Friday evening and immediately loved the atmosphere -- great live music, great drinks, and truly fantastic service. We felt so welcomed that we came back the very next day for lunch. While the Saturday crowd was pretty quiet, the service was still attentive and friendly. We split a cheeseburger with the Local fries, and it was absolutely delicious. Overall, we've had consistently great experiences here time and time again. The Local is quickly becoming one of our go-to spots!

Yelp
New to Nashville, skip the tourist traps and bubbly radio scene. Come see music at its finest. This place host Singer songwriters that are up and coming. Some sound classic and others are awesome up and comers. There's so much talent in this place you feel it. I travel to Nashville often for work and NEVER miss a night here. The food is solid bar food. Didn't taste frozen or cheap yet keeps that bar type tradition. Top recommendation

Yelp
I've been twice now and both times the server has literally ignored me for a long period of time. The first time after sitter at the indoor table for 15 minutes I went to the bar for a drink. The server never spoke to me in the hour I was there. The second time I sat down and in about five minutes I ordered a drink and got a food menu. That was at 8:20. When I left at 9:45 the server never came back to see if I wanted to order food or have another drink. I enjoyed the bands and crowd both times I was there to listen to music.

Yelp
I get that if you don't have special needs and like beer, this place might be a great fit for you. We really liked the musician who was playing. It was great to be able to find live music at 4 o'clock in the afternoon. I have a dairy allergy and there were no substitutions or accommodations offered when I asked if the chicken tenders had dairy. The waitress didn't even check with the kitchen. She said she thought it might, and that was that. So I didn't order any food. This is the first time that this has happened at any restaurant in Nashville. I get that the bathroom vibe was supposed to be fun and thematic, but it personally makes me uncomfortable to be touching up my lipstick standing shoulder-to-shoulder with men washing their hands in the bathroom. I prefer the usual comfort of a ladies room to a communal bathroom handwashing/mirror space. Also, I was with a diner who uses a cane and the seating was mostly bar stools. While I'm not a fan of bar stools, the only seating that worked for him was a bench that he had to kind of climb up to use. He then had to grab a second bar stool to use as a foot support. No assistance was provided by staff. When my fellow diner asked the waitress to tip the musician $20 for him so he wouldn't have to climb down and use his cane to get up to the stage, she was not happy about the imposition. If he'd been able to be seated at a table out on the floor in a chair, we wouldn't have imposed. Finally, I ordered a Moscow Mule and it tasted like an artificially sweet, pre-packaged mix was used, instead of a ginger beer. I get that people probably come here for beers and not mixed drinks...but wanted to flag this particular drink for others. We had originally planned to order a lot more, and to stay a lot longer, but left because it was such a mis-match for both of our needs.

Yelp
Obsessed. Love the local music and the overall vibe of the local. A friend of ours recommended this spot for our trip and it did not disappoint. We went first on a Monday and saw and incredible duo and then an amazing group. It was relatively quiet and we got a table easily. We went back on Wednesday for the Music Row Freakshow and it was packed. We were lucky to find a couple stools at the bar. All the musicians were amazing. Bonus points for great food - salmon was delish and so was the pulled pork sandwich. This place will def be a spot we continue to visit when back in Nashville.

Yelp
First visit in years, understandable why this Local Hot Spot has stood the tests of time against newer establishments. Great Ambiance, kinda like your local neighborhood pub. Service from Lauren was On Point and the FOOD! Huge portions and so flavorful. Live music from 4pm till 2am on the Saturday Night we visited. Worth every bit of effort to get there

Yelp
I'm so glad we went to The Local for drinks and music. It was super packed on Friday night, but soon found seats at the bar. I enjoyed local beer, pulled pork sandwich served with fries, which was pretty good. The fries were thick cut and crispy. The service was prompt and friendly, the bar tender made some beer suggestions that were spot on. The best part was listening to local and nearby musicians. The time between musicians is brief, which is a plus as the music is constant. The Local was a fun experience!

Yelp
PROS: amazing food, good size menu, fair prices, live music, and it's spacious. Food came out fast and they have both outdoor and indoor seating CONS: they don't answer the phone, there's nobody to seat us or tell us to take our own table, and the waiter ignored us till I asked him to come over OVERALL: you'll like the food and vibe there but if you go just be mindful that hospitality isn't their strong suit

Yelp
A fun place to grab a drink and a burger after a long day. Live music was cool. Local singer-songwriters on a random Tuesday. They have a patio as well.

Maya A.

Yelp
Found this gem of a place on the internet when looking for places to see live music on a Thursday night. Long and behold there was live music and songwriters night is on Thursday! I thought what luck so I high tailed it over there found easily accessible parking across the street and made my way in. As soon as I walked in I could hear great live music being played. The place was packed with people and the talent was great. I ordered a drink at the bar ( drinks are well made and servers are friendly) found a seat and watched the performances. This place is wonderful for a Friday eve vibe to disconnect and listen to great music. Can't wait to be back and hear more great Music!

Yelp
Aug 2024 Highlights: Live music. Not on Broadway. Good food. Big patio. Food: I didn't see anyone that mentioned the potatoes! They are GOOD. The loaded fried and the side of fried are the same but they are chunky-spiral cut that have a very satisfying crisp. Especially for a girl that can take or leave the side of fries. I also had the pulled pork cause I didn't see any recent reviews on it. It was a bit sweet, honestly nothing special but good. I would ask for like three times the pickles to add a little bite and they were also just good. Vibes: very casual. Seat yourself. Easy. Loved it. Staff was good, keeps and eye on your drinks, checks-in not too much, not too little. Music: 7-10p; we had a full band for a regular act that was sick. They did well, older country. Takes requests:)

Yelp
Stopped in at the recommendation of hotel staff. Holy cow - we came ready to have a couple of burgers but filled up on the nachos. This is a great local bar with friendly service and outstanding music. We will be back!
google avatar

Victor S.

Yelp
Ice cold beer and live music. What else could you ask for. Great service. I did not order any food. But the plates being delivered to other guest looked delicious and smelled amazing!!

Leigh T.

Yelp
Had a great casual dinner while listening to amazing music! Our table had the fried pickles, chips and queso, wings and a chicken wrap. Super bar food in a friendly environment.

Yelp
We absolutely love this place. We come back multiple times each trip and it's always the highlight of our stay. So many talented singers and musicians in a very intimate setting. Nachos are great too!!!
google avatar

Casey K.

Yelp
A great place for live music, cheap drinks and good company. One of the few places left in Nashville that feels true to its roots.
google avatar

Charis R.

Yelp
The Local has a wonderful atmosphere for writers rounds and a friendly staff. The fries were crispy, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. Our server, Blake, was awesome! He gave us fantastic food recommendations and even brought us a bottle of ketchup!
google avatar

Deanne B.

Yelp
We've been here a couple times and never disappointed. There is always great music from some very talented musicians. The food is very tasty. I recommend the loaded nachos and chicken strips. Wait staff is very attentive. There is an enclosed porch that can be a little chilly. Parking can be a little tricky. Get there early if you want a table.
google avatar

Jasmine C.

Yelp
Ahh this place was amazing. It has such an intimate vibe. We just so happened to come across it when looking for a place to grab a late night snack (9:00pm). There was a gentleman outside of the establishment that greeted us and was super friendly. The wait staff was prompt and very attentive. The live music made the visit even better. Chicken tenders basket with homemade ranch and honey mustard: 5/5 The wing basket; wings were covered in a house specialty sauce can't recall the name: 5/5 This has easily become one of my a new spots to visit more often. If you're in the area, go check it out!

Yelp
Pros: Walkable from campus and hotel area thru the park Outdoor seating Music scene is great Decent menu and food is surprisingly good for a bar - highly recommend the mushroom swiss burger and wings Good amount of local brews all on tap Attentive service Cons: Seating is limited inside - we struggled to pull together 2 tables without disturbing the bar's flow Didn't love the fried pickles or thick cut fries Pro tip: Come when a local artist is playing and enjoy some apps. The cider on tap is refreshing too.
google avatar

Chad L.

Yelp
Parking: street and lots Decor: great local spot with indoor and outdoor seating Staff: very friendly and on point with your needs Food: very tasty, would recommend trying the nachos and grilled chicken ranch wrap Price: dinner for 12 under 350...very reasonable and that includes drinks too Bands: multiple and all worthy Overall: new favorite spot in Nashville
google avatar

Yelp
What is not t like? We enjoyed local music and the beer was cold. I even enjoyed the furious appetizers we had while enjoying the music. The service was spot on.
google avatar

Brooklynn K.

Yelp
Visited twice: First time, I went with a large group on a Saturday around noon. Bar was empty, all the wait staff was helping our group so it worked out really nicely. I got the salad with chicken pictured here. Basic salad, but the chicken was delicious. Quite large too, so that was helpful for the cost. Second time, I stopped in for a nightcap on a Saturday around 11pm. Live music going, people dancing, drinks were easy to get. Older crowd, more of a, you guessed it, local joint. Overall, I'll go back because it's really close to me, but nothing to rave about. I know others who love it though, so check it out & decide for yourself!
google avatar

Yelp
HUGE burger and soooo good! Plenty of food if you split a burger. Live music was great too! Would definitely come back here :)

Yelp
Visiting Nashville for the first time so this was one of our many first experiences and I gotta say it was spectacular. The service was as amazing as the music. All their live performances are originals and they did a phenomenal job selecting their musicians. Every one of them were so unique, set apart from each other when it came to style, but what they all had in common was that they were so enjoyable to listen to. Even my boyfriend who doesn't drink was happy to stay till 11 purely because the music was so good! Our server (who's also a bartender), Jade, took care of us. she was everything and more. From thoughtful to attentive, and killed it on everything we asked of her. She's an iconic people person who could likely do it all in sleep. We were so grateful for Jade's intuitive hospitality and vibrant energy that tied everything into one great experience. We ordered the pretzel bites as an appetizer and the chicken ranch wrap with their jalapeño ranch on the side (loved that ranch). Both were delicious. I'm a sucker for pretzel bites wherever I go and these did not disappoint! It came with their in house beer cheese sauce and coarse mustard and I was happy with both of them. Thank you to everyone at The Local for the best Wednesday night one could ask for!

Yelp
This is our absolute favorite place for live music in Nashville! The artists are always amazing. The servers are friendly and inviting, and the manager, Tyler, is the best! Their food is delicious, and that which you would never expect from a bar. The breaded wings are some of the best you'll have in Nashville, they are a must. The fried chicken ranch wrap was also very tasty, and the local fries are delightful. We go to The Local as often as we can, and love to take out of town guests with us. For a great night out with friends, I couldn't recommend this place more, but get there early because it usually fills up quick on the weekend.

Yelp
The Local is our go to for good food and great local music. The food is not your typical bar food either. I have ever had anything bad from here. The loaded local fries are a must and the salmon is my absolute favorite. Random for a bar, but it has amazing flavor in the fish and the veggies that come with it. If you like blue cheese, they make theirs in house and I buy some to take home! My husband always gets the burger and it's a really good size. It's loud and often crowded, but the patio is amazing and you can still hear the music. They heat it durning the winter and have the screens up during the summer. Feels like your "local" bar, where everyone is friendly and it's just good fun! Park across the street, the paid lot is actually very reasonable and safe.

Michael M.

Yelp
The breakfast was delicious. Our server was awesome. We are visiting from Dallas Texas and Cleveland Ohio.

Yelp
After a deafening evening on Broadway, this the perfect hangout for casual and really good, old time country music. THIS is Nashville. The food and beer are good, too. (The loaded nachos are a "shareable" plate - a massive mound of excellent chips and cheese with just the right amount of meat). If you are looking for good food and great local talent, this is your place!!
google avatar

Mark L.

Yelp
This was what Nashville was about for me. Small, local pub with good music, good beer, good food, and good people. I gave the Local 5 stars for the atmosphere alone. Every evening there was a line up of country singers. singing their hearts out. I loved the steady stream of guitars and boots rolling in. A great place if you are by yourself or with friends. We ate here one night and the food was good. I had the wings, which had stick, sweet BBQ sauce. Very good. My wife had the club sandwich. Plenty of beer on tap. The Local has indoor and outdoor seating. Beautiful on a warm summer evening to sit The service was friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere alone is worth 5 stars. Next time in Nashville I will be stopping by.

Yelp
We had a great time !! All of the musicians we saw were fantastic ! We just had a quick bite, chicken fingers were great ! People were awesome ! Definitely going back !

Yelp
If you want a good spot away from the Broadway strip, this is the place to go to. Now, they do get a busy, standing-room only crowd, but, the drinks the approximately priced ($6.00 for a Miller Lite)and maybe $10 for a mixed drink, but they have great live music entertainment for everyone's enjoyment. It's a decent size place, clean, and enjoyable ambiance. They also have a good sized outdoor, enclosed bar and seating section, with heated lamps throughout. I haven't tried their food but they have a nice menu. I'm only giving a 4 star rsting simply because i did not try the foodn yet. But, I'd wager that it is very good. I'm from NYC and I thought this bar was great! Thank you, The Local Tennessee, for the great bar that you are.
google avatar

Bree Z.

Yelp
I would highly recommend this bar. Entertainment is ALWAYS AMAZING, especially Jessica Nixon and her band! We've seen her twice here and are always blown away! Food is exceptional and drinks are priced fair for "Nashville"! THIS IS THE SPOT!
google avatar

Amanda M.

Yelp
This was a nice chill place to enjoy good music that was way more relaxed of a vibe than "the heart" of Nashville. An Outside area with picnic tables that connected to the restaurant was really nice to have if you wanted some air or wanted to hear the person next to you. Very cute spot.
google avatar

Kevin M.

Yelp
Food was decent. I had a Mushroom Swiss Burger and fries. My date had a Chicken Wrap. Both were good, but the best thing we had was an order of Pretzel Bites. It was not crowded in a Sunday afternoon, and the live performers were both talented and entertaining. I will return in the future to listen to good music and drink too many beers. That's my plan anyway.
google avatar

Yelp
We just flew in, got to our hotel and most things were closed. I noticed The Local through the driveway across the street, so we walked over and walked right in. It was the perfect first experience of Nashville. 3 guys on acoustic guitars playing great music. My husband and daughter ordered the loaded nachos and I got the blackened salmon plate. Both we gigantic! And so good!!!! My salmon was so fresh and tasty, way more than expected and way better than most high end restaurants. Those two devoured the mountain of nachos too. Excellent local choice to be lucky enough to stumble in on.

Paulette E.

Yelp
A great place to listen to music. The staff is great and a lot of fun. We ended up staying until the band stopped playing. So much fun!!!

Jeffrey H.

Yelp
Went there for the first time last week. Ordered wings wet and crispy, they came out dry and not done enough. Wish they had more of a selection of dark beers but did love the fries. Service was good as well.
google avatar

Angela B.

Yelp
The Local made us feel at home. It was very low key and had a nice "chill" vibe. The artwork hanging was beautiful and the live music was great too. The drinks were moderately priced for the location and the food prices weren't bad either. It is a small menu but the portions are pretty big. We will return again when in the area.
google avatar

M M.

Yelp
SOOOOOOO good. Right near centennial park. the server was so nice and the live music was great. The Food was to dieeeeee for. I just ordered chicken tenders and fries but i genuinely did not know those could be so good. My husband got wings and was blown away too. 10/10 recommend!
google avatar

Julie B.

Yelp
Great food, live music and friendly people. We come here often. The burgers are great, nice beer selection and great talent nightly.

Patricia W.

Yelp
The Local For a real Country Music experience, you come a stranger and Leave a Local. Enjoy a choice of delicious fresh ingredient meals from the awesome menu. Along with very reasonably priced drinks, friendly staff and covered and uncovered outdoor patio if you choose. Close to downtown but far from the noise. This is my top choice and highly recommended to friends. Music everyday, original songwriter rounds and the best of the best country bands.
google avatar

Jane R.

Yelp
We really enjoyed the singer/songwriters we saw on Friday night. Such great talent! Our waitress was very nice and the food was good.

Kaden W.

Yelp
The bigger lady with the flannel and the pumpkin hat on is absolutely terrible if you get her as a server ask for someone else. She's been terrible to us all night and had an attitude. Everyone else has been so polite:)

Leah S.

Yelp
Good vibes, not touristy, cheap drinks, live music. Everything you could want from a local Nashville bar!

R P.

Yelp
Awesome bar! One of the last of its kind and the food is great! I highly recommend! They also get great live bands in there
google avatar

Brandon O.

Yelp
We were in town for a visit and our Uber driver recommended The Local, so we decided to check it out late Saturday afternoon. This place was great. We heard the end of Michael Rick's set and the beginning of Fabrizio and Friends. Both were great. Service was quick and friendly for both food and drink. The pretzel bites, beer cheese & spicy mustard were just the right touch to enhance our visit and stave off hunger until dinner. This place will be on our list when we visit Nashville again.
google avatar

Yelp
Visiting from Atlanta on business and Stumbled here on a Tuesday and I'm glad I did. I was looking for live music and decent food. The food is actually really good. I had the chicken fingers. They need a little more seasoning but fresh! Bartenders was super sweet. Ended up coming back the next night with my friend. Got the pretzel bites to share and the burger. Was not disappointed in either. Really enjoyed this place! Thanks for a great time!
google avatar

James R.

Yelp
Fantastic music. Great food. And the atmosphere lends itself for a great time enjoying music and friends. I ate the burger, fries, and fried pickles. Great prices. Oh, and the wait staff were pretty attentive.
