The Best Center City SIPS Restaurants In Philly

"1225 Raw Sushi has one of the largest SIPS menus. They have several $7 cocktails to choose from—like the Raw Crush, which has vodka, triple sec, and Sprite—and 10 small plates, like pork belly bao buns and spicy tuna rolls. You can eat inside at the red neon-lit bar, but the back patio is where you want to be. There are massive umbrellas to give you some shade and lots of large tables where your friends can pass around fruit sake and complain about why it’s not Friday yet. " - candis mclean

18 Places For A Big Group Meal Outside In Philly

"You wouldn’t be able to tell when you walk by, but 1225 Raw Sushi and Sake Lounge has a big patio out back with plenty of umbrellas and long tables. They even have a section of their menu called “Let’s Share,” so they fully encourage you to pass around as many plates of edamame, sumo fries topped with wasabi oil, and pork gyoza all night long. During Happy Hour, the enormous backyard is usually filled with lots of people sipping on cheap citywides, $6 wines, and biting into a few rolls of sushi." - candis mclean

Our 15 favorite places in Midtown Village - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"When you want endless sushi options from a menu as long as a CVS receipt, head to 1225 Raw Sushi and Sake Lounge. They even have a section called “Let’s Share,” so they fully encourage you to pass around plates of edamame, sumo fries topped with wasabi oil, and pork gyoza all night long. If it’s cold out, hang inside the dark restaurant, backlit with neon red and hanging Japanese lanterns. But if the weather’s good, their enormous outdoor space is filled with lots of people sipping on cheap citywides, $6 wines, and biting into dumplings." - Candis Mclean

1225 Raw Sushi & Sake Lounge Review - Center City - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"A lot of sushi restaurants are either super expensive or they have bright fluorescent lights and sticky laminated menus that curl up at the corners. Fortunately, 1225 Raw is in neither of these camps. It feels kind of like an upscale lounge (with a back patio that has lots of large tables), but is reasonably priced and still condones your one friend’s sake bomb habit. Win-win." - Jordan Price

Google
An amazing sushi spot in the city pass this place walking back to my hotel after lunch and looked it up on Google. The reviews were great so I thought I would check it out for dinner. What a terrific find their sushi is amazing town they have sake, my waitress literally poured the craft at the top, they have real ginger and some pretty unique rolls as well as their seaweed salad option which I got the salmon skin, seaweed salad. It was crazy delicious and the rolls I had were absolutely divine eight large pieces per roll. The ambience is very weak. It’s like modern Japanese combined with Japanese game characters very hip and very unique. I can’t wait to return the next time I’m in the city and if you’re looking for a good spot and around the square of Philly this is definitely the place!

This is one of my favorite sushi spots when it first opened many years ago. It’s been at least five years since I was last here. Our other spot was all booked up so I decided to book here very last minute. The food was not as good as I remembered, the service is still good, and their atmosphere is always very hip and young. Overall a good experience. The white tiger role is excellent and the squid is a must try as well.

Cool spot! We visited 1225Raw with a friend after visiting the Philly Flower Show nearby and had a good time. Prices were a tad high, and they were out of some options we wanted to try, but overall service was fast and the food solid. Would come back.

They only had outdoor seating when we walked in so we took it, but the heater totally works and it was quieter than indoor seating. Good sushi, super good cocktails, would like to come again.

Loved this spot, we wanted to go to a speakeasy and this came up. I found it interested they hard sushi and from their photos I was a little unsure. I AM SO GLAD WE WENT. Our waiter was outstanding he had a great attitude and recommendations. We like to try at least one thing our waiter will suggest and we tried almost everything he suggested because it was just that good. Drinks were strong but I am not complaining I'm glad they actually make drinks you can taste the trouble haha. They also had so many options to pick from their menu and I wanted it all.

Y’all the lemon pepper wings, SO GOOD. They have a spectacular happy hour, lots food and drink options. The Boa buns, also delish. We sat outside and the heat from the lamps were really good so if they say they only have outdoor seating & it’s cold, it should be ok. I am looking forward to going back.

Our bartender, Anthony, was amazing. Great to talk with and made amazing drinks. The happy hour menu is amazing, especially the spicy pork tacos. Definitely will be back!

Went for the first time and really enjoyed it. Got there just as it opened in tim for happy hour (&they also run Sips specials). Sat in the outdoor courtyard/area whixh was nice. The servers were very quick and attentive. And, not only was the food good, it came out fast! Definitely plan to go there again and recommend it. Update: came back yesterday (June 2022) and it's still very good. Good sized portions, food is served fresh, service was great. Glad it's still standing post-pandemic and still recommend checking them out!
