"This bakery and restaurant from the Wolfgang Puck team is a coffee shop by day and a lively bar and restaurant by night. In the mornings, order coffee at the counter along with flaky pastries, crusty loaves of bread, and croissants sandwiched with eggs and bacon. For dinner, dine at the bar or in the full-service dining room on pot pie with puff pastry, grilled New York steak, and, of course, a side of fresh-baked bread," - Janna Karel

"Over the last 30 years, David Robins worked with Wolfgang Puck, opening five of the celebrity chef’s restaurants on the Las Vegas Strip. Now, he’s taking over a former novelty store in the Las Vegas Arts District to open a restaurant of his own creation, partnering with Puck to build a venue that focuses on fresh, crusty bread, late-night cocktails, and nurturing the walkability of one of the city’s buzziest neighborhoods." - Janna Karel

First time trying 1228 Main and we were impressed!! The pastries were delicious and the French toast was tasty. The main street special was spectacular. My new favorite traditional breakfast plate! Our server Angelica was awesome! We will definitely be back! Additional photos located on my profile page and videos on my YouTube page ( vivalasvegasx )

Remarkable. I don’t use that word lightly. Masterclass in pastries. I am normally an egg and savory leaning person when it comes to breakfast/brunch, but I can without protestation, admit that choosing any of the pastries paired with a coffee beverage of your choice will leave you beyond satisfied. Having the luxury of like minded dining companions, we approached brunch family style. Therefore could try a taste of everything we ordered. Once again, beyond cliché, everything had its distinct focal point. We shared: Crispy Fried Chicken Breakfast Burrito Rustic Grilled Cheese Tunisian Shakshuka Shakshuka may be one of my new favorite dishes and I will, humbly and I assume without nearly the skill, attempt the dish at home. Their sourdough bread is divine. Take a sliced loaf home with you, but be warned, all other breads will fail by comparison. Last but far from least, the staff at 1228 engaged us with attentive interest and fulfilled every need.

Hezelnut ice latte - 4/5 its tasted very very good, it has a bit a roasty taste, just a little too sweet, I’d go for half sugar next time. Pumpkin Crème Brûlée Donut - Outstanding recipe, not too sweet like the other donuts. French Toast - interesting style, well baked. I personally don’t care for cinnamon or chocolate, I didn’t like this one. Croissant sandwich - the croissant is really nicely baked, bacon was good, potato was well seared, but it’s lacking flavor. Raspberry Donut - 5/5, not too sweet, not sour at all, great flavor and very fresh. Pain Au Chocolat - 2/5, fluffy but the chocolate quality was terrible, too sweet. Shakshuka - 1/5 looks good but tasted like canned tomato, the bread tasted bitter and greasy Quiche - 1/5, why was it cold…?

I work at a bakery in Miami called Sweet Manifesto, and on my last day visiting Las Vegas, I had the pleasure of having breakfast at 1228 Main. I want to express my deepest gratitude to every single member of the staff for making the experience truly unforgettable. Every interaction felt so genuine—every request, every response—it was clear that the entire team genuinely enjoys what they do. The energy in the restaurant was amazing, like friends coming together to eat great food and share good vibes. I’m heading back home inspired to elevate the level of customer service at my own workplace, and that’s a big deal for me. Thank you for showing what excellence looks like! The food was just as incredible as the service. Every plate we ordered was flawless. I highly recommend the salads, burritos, shakshuka and the French omelette. The pastries were out of this world too—my personal favorites were the crème brûlée croissant, blueberry muffin, and banana bread. And if you’re looking for a drink, don’t miss the espresso martini—it’s so good it’ll have you forgetting about sleep altogether. To everyone involved—kitchen, front of house, and all the behind-the-scenes magic—you’re all doing an amazing job. Thank you for the best dining experience! With love, Mar

Kind waiters and great tastes. The place I was most satisfied with during my U.S. tour. Please definitely leave a tip, this effort should not go unrewarded. You will definitely be satisfied in every way. I still can't forget the taste of cheesecake. ♥️

Why aren't more people talking about this wonderful bakery, bar & restaurant? We've been here a few times before and always enjoyed delicious meals. Today's breakfast was another 5-star experience which we found similar to several excellent meals we've had in Paris patisseries. We were greeted at the bakery counter by Dani, whose big smile and warm hospitality made us feel immediately like we belonged. She knew the many pastry offerings for the day and gave us the option of ordering at the cash register or from the table once we sat down. Their pain au chocolat was a generous size, flaky, light, and filled with the perfect amount of chocolate. The peach-filled pop tart was beautifully glazed with sugar crystals and filled with just the right amount of fruit with a slightly crispy exterior and soft, light interior. Dani asked if we wanted both of these heated, which was the best option for enjoying the flavors. The yogurt parfait was delicious with a slight vanilla flavor yogurt, not overly sweet, and a delicious granola like none we've ever had. The granola had a light and had a sweet glaze which we enjoyed along with a generous variety of nuts and seeds. My croissant breakfast sandwich was fresh and delicious. The thick-cut bacon was done just right. And the potatoes were cooked to perfection. If you have not been to 1228 Main for breakfast yet, come now before people find out, and there is a line in the mornings!

Google
What a gem located in the Arts District. Service was absolutely great and I forgot both of the girls names. Very attentive and personable. Food: Creme Brulee Croissant Mortadella Panino - Foccacia Bread with basil pinenut pesto, buratta cheese and mixed greens. Smoked Bacon BLT Glass of Prosecco The creme brulee was ok for me, I did like the flakey Croissant. BLT was also delicious. The tomatoes were delicious. And my favorite was the Mortadella. I loved the flavor of this meat. It went well with the Foccacia Bread. The only negative I saw which is why I didn't give 5 Stars. I saw a worker with gloves on scratch her nose, grabbed her cell phone from her pocket then started touching the food that she was preparing. I was like yikes. They need to be more careful. Overall, still great spot to dine at.

Google
Fantastic breakfast and a lovely place to eat. It's a little on the pricey side, but worth it for the generous portions and the excellent coffee. Really great staff too. I also had a plain latte that was absolutely perfect.

Yelp
Every time I'm near the arts district for work (which isn't often since I live in Henderson) I always make a side trip to 1228 Main for breads and pastries. The quality of the baked goods is among the best in Vegas and they always have creative offerings like a seasonal fruit tart and flavored brioche. I've never had anything here bad. I always pick up a loaf of the cherry walnut wheat bread which is absolutely to die for. We also got a baguette this time which was the perfect balance of crust exterior and soft pillow inside. Absolutely fantastic! Staff is very friendly and I highly, highly recommend stopping here to pick up pastries; you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Great breakfast. Cozy and local feel. Amazing fresh baked breads and pastries. The banana bread is off the chart! A true gem if you want to get away from the strip.

Yelp
-Overpriced -Slow service -No Vegetarian Dinner options (including the chef refusing to make something vegetarian) -$45 entree with paper napkins is cheap. Lots of better options within a couple miles or a couple blocks. Third time at 1228 and it's only gotten worse.

Yelp
Yum! Good stuff. We came in yesterday, just for the desserts! We also picked up a loaf of the walnut cranberry bread, so amazing! We've been here to eat dinner and hang out a few times before and the service is always excellent but this time we were in the area and we stopped in for some desserts. We were craving the cheesecake and telling our group about it as we were eating at another restaurant in the area. After we ate we just walked over and took the vacant table near the bakery area at the front of the restaurant and the service staff were very accommodating. We ordered some delicious coffee and had our dessert. The restaurant is always clean and a good place to hold a conversation. We like this place and I think you would too.

Yelp
Previously a novelty store 1228 MAIN is the culmination of a journey that began as a Bread stand at the Downtown Summerlin Farmer's Market, David Robins, Dustin Lewandowski and Sébastien Polycarpe bringing their collective talents to the Arts District with impressive results. A partnership with Wolfgang Puck, Robins having opened five of the Chef's projects over the past three decades, it is upon entry that guests will note a Barista stand and two glass cases including one filled to the top with Pastries from the hands of men previously employed by Savoy and Robuchon. Open for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner with Puck having moved his Bread production for all of Las Vegas to the expansive kitchen, it is from the counter or at a table that orders are placed for everything from well-priced Coffee to more costly Soups, Salads, Sandwiches and Cakes. Surrounded by paid parking, buzzy Bars and shops, though 1228's Wine and Spirits shouldn't be overlooked, daytime should begin for most with one (or all) of Sébastien's exceptional Viennoiserie, the Butter Croissant flaky around a delicate center while Pain au Chocolat, Creme Brulee Croissant and Pan Suisse follow the same formula adding sweetness through Chocolate, Custard or both. Serious about their craft but not afraid to get creative, a Lemon Curd Cruffin standing out with assertive Citrus while Fruit Danishes are faultless, fans of something more rustic should look to a thick Oatmeal Cookie, Sugar-shellacked Pop Tart or loaves such as Cherry Walnut.

Yelp
Came here for a quick lunch in between work with some friends for a birthday. Two of us got the grilled cheese and tomato soup, as it was a gloomy day and soup sounded good. The grilled cheese was fantastic, but the soup was cold. Even the bowl was cold. We had the server replace our soups and they delivered us hot soups just several moments later. The soup had good flavor too and paired nicely with the grilled cheese. We also got a side of fries which were fat and tasty. My friend got an egg salad sandwich, which is open face so not really a sandwich. I will definitely return as I want to try some pastries and coffees!

Yelp
Have been a few times, both for lunch and dinner. Staff is always great! You can't beat the location if you're downtown. And it's Perfect for a lunch date. Everytime I go I have to order the burger. It's honestly so delicious, super filling, and just solid. I really enjoy the fried goat cheese salad as well. And that's saying something from someone who is usually ehh about goat cheese.

Yelp
During a recent trip to Vegas, my group decided to venture out from the Strip and explore the Arts District, stopping at 1228 Main for brunch. This place was a true gem! The food was excellent, but what made our visit exceptional was our waitress, Amanda. She was incredibly attentive and went above and beyond to accommodate all our requests, making the visit truly memorable. We ordered a variety of items, including take-home pastries, cocktails, lattes, and flavorful, bottomless mimosas. I had the French toast, sangria, and a whiskey cocktail. The French toast was rich and fluffy, topped with fresh fruit and mascarpone cream. The sangria was a bit dry but enjoyable, and the whiskey cocktail was quite good. I also took home a crème brûlée croissant, which was a delicious treat for later. If I'm in the area again, I'll definitely return. The service and food were top-notch--highly recommended!

Yelp
Cute little spot. A bit more fancy than your typical downtown lv spot. However, came with parents and my best friends for brunch. We ordered the special and got the chicken sandwiches. To start we ordered the divine chocolate croissant and paired it with the chai latte and got a shot of baileys on the side It was a great brunch

Yelp
*** Review is for Restaurant Week menu 2024 *** I'm in this area of the Arts District quite often but I haven't been to 1228 Main before. RW was a good reason to go there not on a Friday or Saturday night when it's more difficult for parking and more crowded in general. I made a reservation through their website. When I arrived, they had me on the lsit and a woman showed me to my seat giving me the oprtion of a table or a booth. She left the regular menu and the RW menu. Soon, my server Primo was there to ask about water. I asked for iced tea which was promptly brought. Meanwhuile, a woman who was almost a co-server stopped and filled my water glass. As it turned out, I would need t later. My choices for the RW menu were: salt and pepper shrimp, 1228 Main chicken pot pie, and finally Basque cheesecake. While I waited, I looked around and I could see above the booths behind me an open kitchen. I learned that there was also a baking area there. I looked at the breads available and later got some to bring home. The salt and pepper shrimp were not battered and deep fried. Rather, they had a thin coating of chilies, cilantro and garlic. They were very good. It was good to have shrimp without the heavy batter on them. Next came the 1228 Main chicken pot pie. It was a thing of beauty. The server asked me if I wanted her to open it up by cutting off the top. I said yes so it would be done correctly. She used a sharp knife to "saw" around the edge and then put the top on the side of the plate with the knife and a spoon. She then took the spoon and stirred the goodness inside to mix the vegetables, chicken and sauce. The server warned me that it was very hot and you could seed steam rising from the interior. The menu lists the pot pie as chicken, truffle, and puff pastry but it was more. There were some carrots and some thin onion slices. This is where the water came in handy--anything wet and cold. I dug in and almost gave myself a severe burn from the pot pie. The flavors were glorious. It brought back days when my grandmother would make them when I was a kld. I highly recommend this! I finished off the meal with a piece of Basque cheesecake with some blueberries and blackberry in the compote on the side of the cheesecake. A perefect ending to a great meal. Service was top notch. When Primo stopped once, I asked if I could buy bread from him to bring home and he said yes. I asked him for a half loaf of cherry walnut bread. He wanted it to know if I wanted it sliced and I said that I did. He got the bread, cut it in half, and then sliced it. He placed it in a plastic bag and put that in a small bag with handles. With my RW dining complete, I can say this was the best of the bunch and was a super way to end this yearly event.

Shae Y.

Yelp
We loved that you could buy bread and have it toasted and sliced served with soft butter with your meal and they will package the rest for you. We had the Cherry walnut or almond bread. It was delish! Trout Salad was really Smokey and good. Would def get again. Needed just a tab bit more dressing. 4/5 Waygu Burger: 3/5 it was a decent burger. Kinda felt like the bread was to much. I think we need to come back and try different items to see if we love 1228.

Yelp
I'm a fan of Wolfgang Puck so I thought it's worth to try out 1228 Main by Wolfgang Puck. The ambiance of the place is amazing, it's a very modern style decor. The menu is different compared to the Wolfgang Puck. It has a different twist to it. There was also a 3 course lunch menu which I got, I picked out baby kale salad, Wagyu Smash Burger, and Basque Cheesecake. All of which came fast and tasted amazing! Our server was super sweet and attentive. She made sure to check on us every 10 minutes or so, I'm a fan!

Michael V.

Yelp
Cozy yet contemporary restaurant... felt great being inside. Our server was super friendly and gave great recommendations. The food itself was wonderful... well balanced, rich flavors. Enjoyable experience.

Yelp
We decided to check out 1228 Main for our 6th anniversary! It was highly touted on Yelp, and we wanted to see just how good it was. It is definitely an experience and one to share with a significant other or partner. The ambiance was nice, warm, and inviting, and we were immediately greeted at the door. Once we sat down, we ordered some drinks. I got The Sabotage (9/10), and she got The Hands Down (6.5/10). Once we received our drinks and began ordering, everything started to come out rather quickly. We started with the assortment of House-Made Breads with Vermont Cultured Butter and Cowboy Creamery Mt. Tam (8/10). The tanginess of the cheese mixed with the sweetness of the honey on different varieties of freshly baked bread was delicious! The next starter we decided on was the Maple-Glazed Pork Belly, Stone Fruit Chutney, and Purple Watercress (20/10!!!). Despite its size, it was easily the BEST piece of pork I have ever had in my life! It was perfectly seared, and the mixture of the sweetness from the chutney and the saltiness of the pork with the balsamic glaze was out of this world. Pro tip: Order two!!! The other starter we got was the Butter Lettuce, Endive, Apples, Walnuts, Blue Cheese, and Balsamic Vinaigrette (7/10). It was actually really nice and light, and despite my partner despising blue cheese, she seemed to eat the entire thing without any issues because the flavor profile was definitely there. We both agreed this was a good complementary starter to something like the pork belly. For our main courses, we decided on both the House-Made Spaghetti with Crisp Pancetta, Chiles, Garlic, and Parmesan Cheese, and I got The New York Steak Frites with Tarragon Béarnaise, French Fries, and Roasted Shallots. From my partner's verdict, while the pasta tasted very freshly made, as though it was done from scratch, the pancetta may have made it a little bit saltier for her palate (7/10). On the other hand, I got The New York Steak Frites, and the steak was cooked to perfection! I love my steak medium rare, and I will take steak-cut fries all day next to a savory piece of meat. I ate the entire thing in what felt like under 5 minutes. The peppery crust of the steak alongside the Tarragon Béarnaise--which it didn't even need because it was so juicy and delicious--was impeccable (10/10). Suggestion: I think it would be great if they offered a wine sauce alongside the Béarnaise. To finish with dessert, we got the Warm Pear Buckle with Brown Butter Caramel and Vanilla Ice Cream (10/10) and The Basque-Style Cheesecake with JD Farm's Blueberry Compote (9.75/10). Overall, the meal was excellent, and we definitely have a lot on the menu that we would like to try on our next visit! Oh, and Don't forget to ask for Juan! He was a wonderful server and host! Ambiance score: 9.75/10 Food score: 9.75/10 Service score: 10/10

Yelp
Absolutely loved my first visit here with my son & my friend & her daughter. Shout out to our amazing server, Juan!! We came here for dessert with our toddlers on a Saturday afternoon. Juan was so thoughtful & brought a complimentary giant piece of chocolate-chip cookie for our toddlers. I had the key lime pie & my gf had the chocolate cake. Both items were delicious! Aside from the yummy desserts, EVERY single staff members were extremely friendly & pleasant (hostess; server, expeditor, etc.). I also loved the modern & hip interior. There is whole section of the restaurant with a bar. I am impressed with how spacious this restaurant is. I look forward to trying entrees in the near future.

Yelp
Solid Choice for Upscale Lunch: Great Cocktails, Bakery Ambiance. This restaurant offered a good alternative to a long wait at Makers and Finders. Despite being busy during lunch, we were quickly seated at the bar. Food & Drinks: The menu features burgers and sandwiches, like the Reuben we tried, which was good. The highlight was the cocktail menu - every drink we ordered was well-balanced and expertly crafted, not overly sweet. Bakery & Ambiance: The restaurant has a bakery on-site, showcasing pastries and bread. While the kouign aman I tried was a bit dry, it still had good flavor. The atmosphere is upscale and modern, with clean lines and beautiful glassware. Service & Price: Service was efficient, with our food arriving quickly and accommodating minor requests. The price point was around $100 for two people with food and drinks. Overall: This spot offers a solid option for lunch or drinks. The expertly crafted cocktails and upscale ambiance are noteworthy. While some pastries could be improved upon, the overall experience is good. It caters to both families and smaller groups.

Yelp
1228 Main is located in the Arts District in downtown Las Vegas. I was so excited about trying out their bakery! My husband and I had just finished lunch at Good Pie, which is right next door to 1228 Main. Looking at Yelp at some of their items offered at their bakery, we just had to stop by! As soon as we walked in on a Saturday, around 12:00, we noticed how incredibly busy it was in 1228 Main! All of the tables were packed! We asked the team member at 1228 Main if we could purchase items directly from the bakery, and we were informed that we could! Their bakery had a wide selection of offerings such as Key Lime Pie Basque Cheesecake Apple Pie Dark Chocolate Layered Cake Cookies Lemon Cruffin Pain Au Chocolat Blueberry Muffin Banana Bread and so much more! We decided to choose the following Basque Cheesecake ($13.00 for a slice!) Apple pie ($10.00 for a slice!) Half a loaf of sourdough bread ($7.00) We paid for our order at the register, and the team member informed us it would be a few minutes for them to pack our order. The team at 1228 Main would call our name when the pick-up order was ready. We waited approximately 35 minutes for our to-go slices of pie and sourdough bread. The team was extremely busy inside. I'm surprised it took as long as it did, especially since our order was small and it didn't require any baking or cooking at all. I'm glad we checked our order before leaving, though! The team member who packed our to-go order forgot the apple pie slice. We provided our receipt of the order, and the team member was able to grab a slice of apple pie for us. We ended up eating the desserts at home. The Basque cheesecake was really good. The texture was interesting compared to traditional cheesecakes. The exterior was caramelized, which added a burnt taste. The interior was creamy and rich. I would not order the apple pie again. The crust was not flaky or buttery. There weren't many flavors from the apple slices inside the pie or any of the additional ingredients. Maybe our experience would have been slightly different if we had a table inside at 1228 Main, but we would not place a to-go order again for their bakery items.

Yelp
Going through Las Vegas' Arts District, I spotted this fine dining restaurant. Glad that I gave it a shot as I kind of saw the display of sweet and savory baked goods at the window. Amazing simply doesn't describe what I consumed here. And it's none other than Napa Valley Smoked Salmon & Potato Latke ($18 as of the writing of this review.) At a glance, its portion appeared somewhat small. And yet the layers of generously stacked smoked salmon pieces were on top of the potato latke lightly garnished with dill. The smoked salmon tasted fresh; I could tell that they were of great quality. The only thing I can ask for was the latke; it can be a tad bit bigger. My coffee tasted good as well. Let's not forget, service was amazing! Well, the restaurant wasn't busy; when I stepped in, it was late morning (it hadn't hit 11am yet.) It wasn't just my wonderfully attentive waitress; a few other workers came and checked up on me to ensure that I was as happy as a puppy being fed by a loving owner. One last thing. Its ambience is great. Like I said at the beginning, this place has a fine dining feel. Gorgeous lightings throughout the restaurant; the bar is separated with a wall but there are several glass-less windows in between where you'll hear people in it. It looks like it's a great place for a cocktail as well.

Alyssa S.

Yelp
This place is SOOOOOO GOOD. I don't know why it was my first time recently going here. Their basque cheesecake is literally what I would eat if it was one thing I'd have to choose to eat forever. They also have monthly events with themes and love their bakery!! All their goods are baked fresh daily.

Yelp
Kinda tough. The food was great, and the prices were great for the quality delivered. The room was just too bloody loud for a late weekday lunch (music loud, people having to holler as a result) and the service was just not great. But . . . let me qualify that. I think they were just understaffed due to a large, prescheduled party that showed up as we were leaving. But our always smiling, always pleasant server forgot things we'd requested several times (ketchup, more water, my cocktail(!!!)) and . . . well, some stuff just wasn't anywhere near the level of service one expects in a named Vegas place that's popular with food people. And Matt Hurley was having a meeting with some of his head people while we were there - and all of them asked how things were going when they headed out. And Chef Hurley jumped up and helped with the set-up for the large party. So . . . lots of good, peeking through the not so great. Okay, as to the food: since we know it's a bread place, we had sandwiches (a BLT and a Pastrami/Gruyere), and they were great (and they came out FAST, even in spite of the prep for the big party). The bread was great, the toasting was great, the condiments were great, the veggies were great and the meats were fantastic. Every bite as great. The fries were solidly good (although I wish I hadn't finished them). We grabbed a baguette (a preposterous $7, pretty good but not Paris-pretty-good) and a peanut butter cookie (delicious, even at $4 - but terribly packaged so that it got all gooshed up by the time we made it back to Fontainebleau a short Uber away) and don't regret any of the food. The one drink we had - a D.R. Negroni - I'd not waste my time with again. Awful darned slow to get to the table, too. So . . . eesh. I don't think we caught them at their best. The food was great. The service, not really. And I wasn't thrilled with the way the room was going - too loud, but maybe that's just the way they are. And, fancy bar or not, that was one boring drink. Personally, I'm curious to see if they do better on another visit, but I just don't think my wife is going to be willing to come along with me again. We shall see . . .

Yelp
Stopped in before a work meeting right when they opened at 8 o'clock and we were the only ones there. We were sat immediately and order was taken right away. The interior is modern, very open area with a lot of seating. The pastry counter is neatly displayed and shows off the goods with the menu above it. They had a myriad of pastries and different breakfast options along with coffee choices. I opted for the dirty chai and croissant sandwich. The chai was great had very good flavor. The sandwich was decent, I was surprised by an overall lack of flavor. The eggs, bacon and avocado came through but not a heavy seasoning. I expected a bit more for the price. The sandwich was $20 so I expected a bit more. Overall I'd be back for the coffee and maybe to try the baked goods!

Yelp
So happy we decided to try this place. We had such great service and the food was delicious. Absolutely best egg sandwich and grilled cheese we have ever had! And we are extremely picky as we eat out often.

Yelp
Wow! First-service!!!! Amanda is Amazing! She was very attentive and a consummate ambassador! So friendly and fun. We loved her! She is patient and thoughtful and yes very good at what she does. The open design is very cool and I love seeing and smelling the baking operation in action! It as just past minimalistic but not cheap. You have everything you need without sacrificing space for unnecessary clutter. The menu is small but hits all the needs effectively. Baked goods extraordinary! French food is decedent but not flashy and they hit it! The Custard filled Creme Brûlée Croissant is a must order, creamy warm and velvety rich filling with sweet flaky crust! The Smoked Salmon, made in house, was superb, and the house made Dill Pickles paired perfectly with the tender salty and rich and savory lox! The French pride themselves in execution of excellence in all things culinary. I know this and tend to judge places like this by the basics. Because if you can't get the simple things right...well then. So of course I order the Quiche Lorraine! A classic blend of crispy bacon, caramelized onions and Gruyère Cheese! I was beyond pressed! This is the most creamy decadently smooth and fluffy version I have ever enjoyed! The creamy center is like a savory breakfast cheesecake and the crust is as crispy and tasty as any French Grandmother could make! So many places Need to take heed to the Champion of Quiche!

Yelp
Uh, wow. It's been a minute since I've had a meal and days later have kept thinking about it. My friend suggested this place and I'm always down for a food adventure. 1228 exceed expectations. Walking in, it had a NYC kind of feel to it. A cafe over looking a restaurant with tables. Very modern and clean. We asked for a both, while we waited, we looked at the pastries and met the gem of a human, Mike. Friendly; bright-eyed and heart shaped glasses. Such a cutie. I asked what a "Basque cheesecake" was and it's got no crust and it's baked where it's still kinda gooey inside. He sold me right there. We got to our booth and our server was an Angel named ANGELICA, can't make this up folks. We came in hot with questions and ordered desserts first cause that's the joy of being an adult. The basque cheesecake was INCREDIBLE. Creamy, rich, thick and gooey in places and was served with fresh berries and this compote (not sure; the sauce was perfect) and it was BIG SLICE. My friend ordered a creme brûlée croissant and imagine a cheese danish mater with a croissant and whoop there it is. Flaky and creamy and crusty. Perfection. We decided to order real food. I got the croissant breakfast sandwich & my friend ordered the vegetable Greek salad. The breakfast sandwich was hug and the croissant was amazing. All their pastries are made in house. Bacon perfectly crispy. Served with a side or home friend potatoes. I could barely eat half of it. Yum. My friend's salad was full of color and my friend loved it. 1228 was worth the trip down town. Service was excellent. Food phenomenal. Perfect for desert, coffee, or a date night. 1-2-2-8 I truly do appreciate! Just fab!

Yelp
Service was great and the food delicious! The perfect combination plus an abundance of bakery goods - too many delicious ones to choose from. How can an oatmeal cookie taste so good? The trout salad, Greek salad and cheeseburger are our favorites. We will keep coming back and coming back!

Yelp
What more could you ask for first thing in the morning? 1228 has a good vibe going on: pretty staff to welcome you and bring you your orders with a smile all the time. Music is upbeat, love it. Tried to Shazam it but was off line. Many choices for breakfast. The fries are definitely a hit- super dooper crispy and fresh like how they do it in Romania or Belgium. I had the pastrami and hubs had the Main Street with eggs, hash, etc. Glad I read the article on this restaurant. Good choice. Best tip ever: buy a hot chocolate pop tart with mini marshmallows to go, heavenly

Yelp
High quality ingredients only here!! You can taste it wether it's from their food menu or pastries I also loved their iced latte with Carmel. The inside is way nicer than your average breakfast/ brunch restaurant Definitely recommend for brunch in the area :)

Yelp
Great pastries but even better service! We heard all about the plain croissant and it lived up to the hype. Getting it warm with in house service is the right way to go. Solid flake and crunch, on point honeycomb structure inside, balanced butter flavor that's there but not overwhelming, and not too oily. Basque cheesecake had a delicate and soft texture that was light whole still packing a lot of flavor. It's a great "intro" into basque cheesecakes as it doesn't have any hints of goat cheesiness that can turn off folks. The burger and fries were solid - no complaints but stick with the pastries/baked things. Most of all, what made the experience amazing was the most pleasant and attentive of service all around from the staff! Everyone was SO nice and made us feel appreciated and comfortable. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Dang it, late by one day. 1228 Main (not named for the date) is a new-ish Arts District venture stealthily launched by Wolfgang Puck peeps. Some may decry the corporatization of the Arts District, but if it's good, then it's good. And so far, it's good. I had hoped to get there near the start of the 11-1pm weekday free parking period, but it was more like past noon and then scrambling to figure out the Flowbird app to pay for parking ($1 per 30 min). We did feel a bit ignored at times by our server but they were kinda busy for the holiday week, and the manager and/or other employees seemed more than happy to help us out. Regardless, I would advise planning for a longer stay here. Beverages are a key part of a morning meal here. I did like their Drip Coffee ($5.00) which they provide free refills of, and the side of cream was fine. My Ginger Matcha Lemonade ($5.00) is more of a sugary lemonade with a matcha kick. Neither the lemon acidity nor the ginger were as present as I'd hoped. That said, it could probably work well with a more salty entree. And I loved crunching on the ice pebbles which they loaded the glass with. My entree turned out to be savory enough, as I could not help but try the Tunisian Shakshuka ($17.00). This is a tomato and pepper-loaded saucy soupy bowl, with some eggs over easy and one slice of buttered sourdough bread. I'm not sure whether the latter is a disadvantage since it prompted me to order the baguette ($7.00), which gave me more of their chewy bread that's also likely of sourdough origin. However, the skin is thick and really may cut the roof of your mouth. I also tried some of the Warm Ham & Gruyere Croissant ($14.00), which tastes as advertised. The croissant itself is very buttery when you get a taste of it alone, while the ham and gruyere are tasty as well. The side salad is very lightly dressed and consists entirely of fresh greens. I'd noticed an enticing unlabeled cake in the display case up front, and when I asked our server, she informed us that it was a brand-new, first-time-on-menu Blueberry Cake ($10 slice). I had to try it just to satisfy my curiosity, and it's actually pretty interesting. It has three layers that remind me of corn bread and banana bread and one that's reminiscent of some sort of light cheesecake. They could've loaded it with a bit more blueberry, which can be subtle at times already. It's definitely shareable for 2 or 3 people depending on appetite. The pastries also hold up nicely when taken home. The Chocolate Chip Cookie ($4) seems to be missing the descriptor "of your dreams" if you're a fan of chocolate. It's practically oozing chocolate out of every pore. I think the middle layer may be entirely chocolate. It's one of the best in town and is only missing a touch of sea salt. The Lemon Cruffin ($7.00) has a great crispy exterior and a lovely lemon curd filling. It's the best cruffin I've had so far. The Morning Glory Muffin ($5.00) also has a nice crunch on the outside and a welcome pecan crunch on the inside. It's oddly reminiscent of a carrot cake variant in visuals and some of the fruit. I'll have to come back to 1228 Main another time, even if alone, to explore the rest of their menu. I gotta try that Creme Brulee Croissant which I barely missed out on picking up, and their other pastries seem enticing as well.

Yelp
Our party of three had brunch here today (Sunday), and it was excellent in every way. We were promptly greeted and seated next to the window, which is great for people watching on Main Street. Our server, Colby, arrived quickly and took our drink orders, and they were great. We ordered food shortly thereafter -- avocado toast for me, corned beef hash for partner 1, and a croissant and French omelet for partner 2. The croissant arrived first, and it was both huge and perfectly flaky and buttery. (Worth mentioning that the restaurant started out as a bakery by veterans of Wolfgang Puck, and it shows.) Our mains came out, and were perfect. My avocado toast was served on toasted seeded rye that was the perfect complement to the avocado, chive sour cream, and egg over medium, as I requested. The perfect bite of crunch and creamy delishoness. Partner's omelet was French rolled, which looked beautiful and as I was told, tasted great. Likewise my other partner's corned beef hash. Not a crumb of food was left. Of course, we had to have dessert: peanut butter chocolate chip cookie for me, chocolate chip cookie for one partner, and lemon cromuffin for the other. All were consumed leisurely and with much yummy noises. We moved here from Arlington, Virginia, across the Potomac from Washington, where Sunday brunch was a religion, and 1228 not only exceeded our expectations, but surprised us that it was not packed to overflowing. We will definitely return for brunch and likely dinner.

Yelp
My second visit to 1228. I have to tell you folks, they have the best banana bread on the planet. If you're a fan of banana bread, you have to try theirs. You'll be hooked.

Jennifer M.

Yelp
Delicious food with consistent quality and service! Make sure to actually save room and eat dinner -- the display of pastries is as good as it looks. Most recently ordered thanksgiving to go and was IMPRESSED. Tastes homemade but elevated!!

Yelp
Romantic dining by night and delicious pastries by day, 1228 Main has it all. I've been a few times now for their dinner and always have a great time. The location is super convenient for enjoying a drink, local theatre show or checking out some art after a great meal. The one absolute must order is the green garlic butter. It's like nothing I've had before and puts regular butter to shame. Another one of my favorites is the steak tartare. It's got a nice kick and the potatoes are a perfect compliment. I would say to pass on the salt & pepper shrimp, it was a bit bland for me. Overall an awesome place worth checking out in the heart of the arts district.

Yelp
We were disappointed by the place we were supposed to have brunch at so we decided to take the plunge and try a place we've never been to. 1228 Main is new to us so we decided to come in and give it a try. We made reservations and only had to wait a couple of minutes to be seated. There were other people waiting in front of us but the hostess did honor the fact that we had reservations over the walk-ins, which I greatly appreciated. It was busy inside, so we sat for quite a bit before anyone came by (a problem we had at every single restaurant we went to this weekend, I'm guessing it was a holiday staffing issue.) Once we did have our server come by, we did get great service, not just from her but from the runners and other servers as well. I didn't mind waiting because part of the kitchen is open and I was watching the pastry cooks do their thing. It made me a bit nostalgic for when I was young and just starting my career, so it was nice watching them work and talk about pastry. Seeing the kitchen is always fun for me and that gorgeous rotating oven was a dream to see. I also like the décor around the place and the seating was very comfortable. The food was pretty darn good too. I got the Tunisian shakshuka and my hubs got the wagyu burger. The flavors of the shakshuka were great but I would love to actually have had the eggs cooked in it. They were perfectly cooked over easy eggs though so I can't complain. Perfectly buttered and toasted sourdough as well. The burger was really good too with what seemed to be house made pickles. Those things I wanted a jar of. DELICIOUS!!! We also got a Danish to share. It was good but not worth the price.

Yelp
The food is amazing. The pastry's are cooked to perfection. At first I didn't realize it was a restaurant/ bar/ bakery style. I'm glad I seen a lot of locals walking in and decided to follow. The service is top notch fast and super friendly l highly recommended this place

Yelp
Clean modern bakery/diner. Our server was funny, knowledgeable and attentive. I am a sucker for good pastry. I got to try a creme brule croissant. It was absolutely delicious. For my main meal I ordered an egg and bacon croissant sandwich that came with a side of expertly fried breakfast potatoes. It was a great find of the strip in the arts district.

Yelp
Wow! In love with this place. We found it through the restaurant week options and we are so glad that we did. Not only is the staff amazing, they work so well together and provided service with a smile and huge attention to detail. We came in with a baby and were seated in a booth where we could witness the pastry team getting down and the kitchen slaying dishes. The restaurant is beautiful inside, although the white Christmas lights on the ceiling didn't seem to match the ambiance. Nevertheless the options on the menu are plenty. Their whiskey sour which has a name I can't remember was out of this world, so well balanced with a beautiful bitters float. The presentation was outstanding, a beautiful detail on their long ice cube with the address imprinted on it. The smoked trout salad had potato chips for crunch and crispy frissee, delicious! Although if you don't care for horseradish this may not be for you. Both of the sandwiches were very good, with house made bread and perfectly cooked chicken breast. But wait... the cheesecake... my mouth waters as I write this review, bravo to the pastry team! I cannot wait to return, not only is the food awesome but the service was tremendous. Great job everyone!!

Yelp
This was an amazing brunch place with great choice for breakfast and lunch and an amazing assortment of pastries and breads as well. Ingrid, our server ,was spectacular, friendly and responsive to every special request. We'll definitely be back the next time through.

Yelp
Orders: TRUFFLE CHICKEN POT PIE | SALT & PEPPER SHRIMP | GREEN GARLIC BUTTER w/ MELTED LEEKS | DARK CHOCOLATE GANACHE CAKE Gorgeous food, drink & ambiance! Really creative menu and a great bakery from what I hear - & I can attest because the flaky puff pastry shell of the Truffle Chicken Pot Pie was stunning!!!! My friend bought a loaf of bread while we were there that looked awesome. Recommend everything that we tried. Great experience!! Will be back for the cheesecake ;)

Yelp
Amazing, delicious. One of my favorite restaurants. Easy to get reservations. I've only been there for breakfast/lunch but they do have a dinner menu.

Yelp
Met the owners from the biz at a goodie event last night and LOVED their offerings. So I decided to order lunch from them today. Something simple. Well it was simple but AMAZING. Grilled cheese and tomato soup. The sandwich was huge. Grilled to perfection. Soup was great as well. Will def be taking friend to the biz soon.

Yelp
MyVEGAS rewards means less-than-awesome service. Have you ever been lucky enough to have a coupon or gift card somewhere, and then once you tell the staff you have it, you notice a shift in the energy? As if they are already assuming you're a cheapskate or you won't tip based on the bill before discounts? Well, that's what we dealt with at 1228 Main. If you're coming here with the MyVegas reward, don't expect stellar service. Food was just okay, but not seasoned well (if at all!) Didn't love that they only came to our table to drop off food and drop the check, and weren't really asked how the food was (and had to flag someone down after many minutes to get a drink). While it was okay, we would not recommend this spot. If they decide to read this I hope they educate their staff to understand that just because a patron has a coupon doesn't mean they are a second tier guest.

Yelp
I went here with my friends and was a bit disappointed. First off as a gluten free person I think it's a bit silly to write that on your menu if you're not going to provide alternatives (for example they don't have a gluten free bread, which is lame when you have a majority of sandwiches on the brunch menu) The most they said was "we can omit ingredients" but for this kind of money I don't want to pay full price for ingredients being taken out. That rant done... I asked my friends how was the food considering and they were satisfied. One didn't like the way her egg was too runny and the other said his dirty chai didn't taste anything like chai. But that was it so overall I think the experience for them was good. I took away stars for the gluten free problem and we didn't find our waitress friendly. We were a quirky group but she wasn't very patient. Overall I personally won't go again unless I want to eat an expensive salad.

Yelp
Ambiance was nice, however me living walking distance from this place and always thinking it's closed is a problem. I have to be transparent, the service was SLOW and the food was mediocre to low grade. I got the New York steak frites and my guy got the Waygu burger ... and both were a let down for a $60 steak it was definitely not worth it! I probably will never be back.

Yelp
I have lived in Vegas for several years and have driven or walked by this place several times. It was never mentioned or busy so I forgot about it. My two friends came to visit Vegas and were in the Arts District so they went to find food and the place they went to was closed so they just picked 1228 Main. I met them there and they had already had issues and were still waiting for their meals after waiting an hour. My pet peeve is when a meal is beyond late and there is an empty restaurant. They aren't busy so what's the issue?? Ugh. I just ordered some bread which was supposed to be a variety of diff types of breads but the waiter said they have only one kind and handed me a plate w like 5 pieces of dry plain sliced bread and two dipping sauce/butters. Not impressed at all but I just had a couple pieces to tide me over. They waited exceedingly long for the chicken pot pie so the manger brought out a raw fish app as an "oopsie". My friend doesn't even eat raw fish neither do I, so that was bad not even asking first if we ate raw food. They got their food finally and there was a big chicken bone inside the soup/pie portion of the chicken pot pie. She could have choked! I told the server and he said "Well at least you know it's fresh chicken!" Are you kidding me?! A customer could have choked and he made a sarcastic joke wow beyond unprofessional. No manager ever came out to apologize or anything. They rushed thru their meal and we all left. No manager ever came over after being told there was a bone -either he didn't care or the server never told him who knows but that was appalling. This place including the bar was empty we counted 3 other tables the entire evening so how does a manager NOT have time to come by a table w so many issues? Overall none of us were impressed and since I am a local will have to pass on going in the future. It was a dark decor with many tables yet no one was there for the several hours we were waiting for their meal. Seeing an empty establishment says a lot. Disappointed bc we go to the Arts District often and are always iso a new foodie spot.

Yelp
I wanted to come here straight from the airport to get lunch and it did not disappoint even the slightest bit! The Swiss bread is a pastry with custard and chocolate inside, it was so delicious and the crust was crispy, a piece of art! The pastrami on rye was beyond good. Quite greasy but that's what makes the toast so crisp. Lots of meat, yummy cheese. The mustard was good. The fries were soooo delicious I could come back here just to eat fries!! The egg salad sandwich is what we get every time coming here because it's just solid good! Great friendly service. Modern large modern and classy space. Love it here!

Lily L.

Yelp
Everything was yum! Enjoyed our entree. Atmosphere is nice and the waitstaff was busy but checked in on us several times. We loved the pastries and got several to go! The smell of fresh baked bread is awesome! chocolate croissants are a good as they look! Flaky, chocolate deliciousness! The morning glory muffin come home too. Moist and filled with shredded carrots, pineapple, raisins and so good.

Victoria M.

Yelp
New beautiful place in downtown. Service was incredible and food was amazing. The smell of freshly baked bread as you walk in is AMAZING! great wine selection and drinks. And the food menu is nice and simple and what we had was just cooked perfectly and very flavorful. We had *BREAD- sooo good- walnut and raisins, rye and ciabatta * CALIFORNIA GRILLED SQUID- *STEAK TARTAR- it even had a great little kick to it, not too much but just right. *TOMATO SPAGHETTI - very good *STEAK- I do love me some steak. It was cooked just perfectly. We ate so much, that even tho we wanted to we couldn't have dessert. Lol It's a great vibe and I would definitely keep going back.
