"The weathered wood and humble sign belie the bounty of fresh seafood overflowing the cases at 13 Mile Seafood in Apalachicola. Four generations of Wards have caught and sold fresh oysters, shrimp, and fish in this area since 1957. Located on Water Street in downtown Apalachicola, the market offers one of Harley’s favorite versions of smoked fish dip. Sometimes it's mullet, sometimes it's mackerel, and it always has just the right amount of smoke." - Carrie Honaker

The best gulf shrimp money can buy - Always fresh, right off the boat! The staff and owners are great, friendly people. My wife and I are so happy to be able to support this local industry and bring a quality product back home to our family. Thank you Tommy!

Absolutely LOVED this seafood market! It was so clean inside and smelled great, unlike some markets. And everything looked so fresh! We were getting shrimp to put on the grill. The gal at the counter was super nice and helpful! Took my husband back the next day just so he could see what a GREAT fish market looked like. We had gone into a couple of others to check them out and this one was definitely at the top. Will definitely be back when we're in the area! Their shrimp dip is also really good too! :)

We love this seafood market! The grouper cheeks are morsels of goodness that we anticipate cooking at the campground every year. We purchase shrimp, fish, and of course grouper throats (if we're there early enough) and have our own seafood festival right at our site.

If you haven’t tried their smoked Tuna Dip, you’re in for such a treat! It’s incredibly delicious. Thank you 13 Mile, y’all are the best!

Google
Salmon fresh for tonight's dinner. They had 5 different fresh fish here today. Great staff offered to ice our salmon for us. They have a small area with T shirts and post cards.

Google
Fantastic! Go, Go, Go there. Took care of my request for a beautiful Red Snapper. And all their offerings are fresh with a most helpful and reliable staff! Grouper for lunch today, prior to prep, was delicious! Did I say Go, now. I will return VERY soon!

Google
Great little seafood market right on the water. They do not have a huge selection but do have some nice fresh products as well as smoked fish and dips. We grabbed a slab of red grouper and wow it was great! Sauteed of a flat top, tender juice and flakey. We will definitely be going back. Urban Cowgill June 2023

Google
Great fish and shrimp. Clean place. Professional staff. Everything you are looking for when you think fresh seafood off the docks. Added some pics of the Paella that I made using the large shrimp and Grouper Cheeks from the market. Absolutely wonderful. Best meal of our trip.

Yelp
If you are visiting Apalachicola you must visit this sea food market. Unlike most seafood markets there is absolutely no fishy odors. The owner, Mr Ward explained that this was due to their meticulous cleanliness and only fiketing fish they would sell that day. We were waited on by his daughter who gave us great customer service! On the menu tonight I will be preparing fresh blackened grouper and yellow fin tuna caught this morning!

Yelp
Freshest fish ever!!! Just like we caught it ourselves. Staff is so knowledgeable and friendly too! Love love love this place!!!!!

Yelp
Fresh fish and shrimp. Very nice folks in a great location. Only regret they are not closer to where we live.

Biggy B.

Yelp
I will keep this simple, if you are interested in exceptionally fresh fish with a knowledgeable staff then this place is for you. I have tried all of their fresh fish and literally some of the best. I've had anywhere either coast & anywhere in the country. Unless you're going to go out and catch it yourself, which is something I've been doing for 25 years you're not gonna find anything fresher than this.

Yelp
We got all of our fresh seafood here while on our stay. It was all delicious! We got shrimp twice, triple tail, and scallops. The people working were knowledgeable and friendly. We stayed on St George and drove here to get all of our food. I would highly recommend them.

Yelp
If you are looking to buy the freshest raw seafood in the area this is the place. Local oysters by the bushel, fresh locally caught shrimp, snapper, grouper, flounder or what ever is in season. They will pack it up in styrofoam chests with ice if your taking something a long way home from the salt water in Apalachacola. They also have a restaurant but it wasn't open when I was there. Take it from on Old Salt; This is the place.

Yelp
These guys are awesome! Their products are also awesome. But they are very expensive. Everything is way over priced in Apalachicola. Beware.

Lita L.

Yelp
We love stopping here for quality local seafood. Not only does everything look fresh, but the seafood scent is clean and fresh. They will also pack your purchase in a box with plenty of ice, at no extra charge. Feel like eating some of the yummy shrimp you see that probably came off the boats on site earlier? They only charge $1.50 to steam it. We ended up buying 5 pounds of nice size rock shrimp, ($6/lb) 4 of the biggest soft shell crabs I've ever seen, like true jumbos, ($5.50ea) and a 1/2 pound cup of fresh smoked mullet spread. ($8) The spread was delish, and can't wait to taste the rest.

Yelp
This is a small market that is neat and clean. Staff was super friendly and helpful. We ordered a pound of medium shrimp steamed. You get to pick your preferred steaming seasoning. You had to pay $1.50/lb to have them steamed... this is the only reason I'm dinging a star here. In other beach locales where we've ordered steamed shrimp to order, they don't charge extra for that. They had several sauce options for sale while we were waiting on our shrimp. We found a FL based cocktail sauce. It was reasonably priced. In fact we saw the same brand at piggly wiggly a few minutes later and it was a few cents less at the seafood market (which I was surprised to find). They also offered homegrown cucumbers which we also purchased. They had lots of frozen seafood options like lobster, crab cakes and sea scallops available in case you didn't find what you wanted fresh. The "sea scallops" they had that were fresh were small so we decided on the shrimp instead. They had several fish options. Including grouper cheek and grouper throat. There was even a recipe for the grouper throat posted on the wall and we may go back and try that another day.

Yelp
Bought Grouper, Shrimp and Smoked Mahi Dip. This is hands down the best place to buy Seafood in the area . Everything tasted fresh and it is so simple to walk right in and get exactly what you want. 13 Mile does it right.

Adelaide H.

Yelp
We got shrimp for $9 a pound that was absolutely DELICIOUS!!!! We had a shrimp boil. 13 mile was recommended buy the owner of our rental and we could not agree more that it is the best around and worth the drive!!

Cheryl V.

Yelp
While visiting St. George Island we wanted to get some oysters for an oyster roast. We bought a half bushel at this shop. Staff was very helpful and packed them on ice in our cooler. We were able to have 2 great oyster roast with these. They were fantastic. Will visit again next time we come down.

Julie R.

Yelp
They actually close at 5:30 not 6. We arrived about 5:35 and the sign on the door said closed. However, they happily invited us in. Super fresh seafood. Can't wait for fresh grouper with capers, lemon, butter and angel hair pasta!

James B.

Yelp
So we bought 3 lbs of 'fresh' shrimp. They were nuked with salt and we tossed them out ($25 down the drain). Salt is used to keep 'fresh' seafood in the store longer. It also causes cardiovascular disease! Please 13 mile: give us fresh seafood!!!

Carrie K.

Yelp
Best selection of fresh and frozen seafood we could find in the area: however, despite the sign on the door stating masks are required, the workers were not wearing masks. They do deliver to cars.

Bart B.

Yelp
Stopped here twice on this trip to the panhandle, and we weren't disappointed either time. They sell a good product, provide excellent service, and I found them to be very honest when I asked them various questions about specific catches. Will definitely visit again when we're back in this area, which is typically several times a year. No complaints whatsoever.

Kim H.

Yelp
Fresh jumbo shrimp were perfect. Tasted unlike anything we've had north of here. The gumbo...please don't buy it. We will though. All of it. And more. Seriously. Absolutely the best. Everything is in it and good portions. Not salty either.

Lee Ann O.

Yelp
Bought scamp which is a type of grouper. It was so delicious!! Highly recommend the market. The employees were good about answering our questions. They had shrimp, tuna, scamp, catfish and flounder. Prices were fair but not cheap. Product excellent. Definitely returning.

G. M.

Yelp
We've picked up shrimp, flounder, grouper, triple tail and crab here and have been pleased with it every time. They are honest about what is local and fresh, which is important to us. Much better than what you can get in St. Joe. Don't even bother with either piggly wiggly down here both of which are hideous.

Jim S.

Yelp
We bought grouper fillet and steamed shrimp. Both were so good. Fresh and delicious. The guy who sold us our fish was very helpful and provided excellent grilling advice. Highly recommend

Wayne W.

Yelp
Freshly caught seafood. Nice selection. Decent prices. Nice people also. Large lobster tails, albeit frozen. We always go back.

Heather L.

Yelp
Great way to grab some fresh oysters if you are willing to shuck them!

Yelp
A real local seafood market. The family owns shrimp boats and an oyster house, so you can truly get fresh local seafood here. It's clean and friendly - there are even a couple of nice cypress chairs to sit in. One of those places both locals and tourists shop in.
