Melinda’s Review - Downtown - Miami - The Infatuation

"Melinda’s is a bar and restaurant that used to be located in Wynwood. When it was there, it felt like more of a bar, but their new Downtown location is more of a restaurant, with oysters, pizza, and tacos. You can also still come here just to drink, especially during Happy Hour (Wed-Sun from 5-7pm)." - Ryan Pfeffer

Yelp
3.75! This was one of those spot my friends enjoyed more than I did. For appetizers: I tried the stuffed plantains & oysters. They were stuffed with cheese & come with a peanut butter sauce. My friends really liked the sauce, but I did not care for it. I don't mind peanut butter sauces but this one was too much & I don't think the flavor paired well with the plantain. I also did not care for the oysters, they can come with different flavorings, but none of them were for me. For dinner: I had the glazed short rib. IT WAS DELICIOUS. A big portion with a perfect bbq sauce. Cooked to perfection. Best part of the whole night. The staff were very polite, but a little too eager to take our plates away. For a while it was hard to hear the person right next to me because the music & other people were too loud.

Yelp
The foundational theory of Yelp is that the events give us a taste and introduction to cool new restaurants in Miami. Most recent this was the case with Momento by Ikaro! I attended an Elite event there for Hot & New in Miami week. There had been a few meatier items that were not at the event but caught my eye on the regular menu. So when a friend who's visiting wanted to go to dinner somewhere nice downtown, we ended up at Ikaro! Located in the redeveloped space of a bar - and a historic venue itself - and two blocks from Club Space, it's a great spot to start of a Miami date night. The menu is seafood heavy, but there are some yummy meat centric plates. Although we passed on boozy libations tonight, the mocktail mojito I enjoyed was well blended and a good citrus forward flavor. Next for the appetizers, I ordered and enjoyed the plantain pieces served with pico as well as a creamy peanut sauce. Yes you can actually taste the different ingredients! The roasted potato slices were pretty good as well. Now on to the yummy meat: their short rib dish, with a side of quinoa, is meat lover's heaven. You have a nice stack of tender, fall off the bone short rib marinated and drenched in a bbq sauce. But it is not the regular grocery store one. This one is based with tamarillo fruit, which gives it a constant play between sweet, tangy and smokey. My companion and I closed this with their Lotus Biscoff cheesecake. This was a tasty caramel and cream layered over to gentrify the famous cookies from American Airlines :) The graham cracker taste mixed with the sweet is delicious. Service was very attentive through the evening, even though we were the last seating. Some of the staff remembered me from the Elite event and were as always pleasant.

Yelp
Very cool spot that transports your from downtown to an outdoor restaurant that feels like the islands. They have a good happy hour and the food looks great. A nice spot and cool escape from the downtown bustle.

Yelp
The food was hit or miss, and the service seems like they have some things to sort through before they can really get aligned between the bartenders, servers, and kitchen. They offer craft cocktails but do not seem to have bartenders trained in mixology to really deliver them properly. I ended up switching to wine. It is a shame because I was really excited to check this place out, but it fell a bit short for me.

Yelp
A great addition to the Downtown dining scene. It's definitely tucked away, and they don't get foot traffic, so I hope they do well! They offer valet and there's some parallel parking. The restaurant is kind of open-air, so you might be just a little warm depending on the weather. The food is a fusion of Spanish and Ecuadorian, so i definitely experienced new flavors. For example, the ceviche is served in a peanut sauce. Everything was delicious! I recommend the cauliflower in brown butter.

Yelp
Went because it was walking distance to us and didn't have many reviews because it just opened this summer but man...loved it!!! Food was unique, delicious and service was impeccable. Great date spot and not crowded at all...YET! Highly recommend before word gets out.

Yelp
From the moment(o) we stepped in, I was continuously wowed. The service was impeccable... it was opening night so they were a little bit nervous, but that died down within minutes. The selection of food goes above and beyond your "average" high end restaurant in Miami. The flavor profiles were unique but still had a feeling of homemade. I would put this place in the top 5 restaurants I've eaten at in Miami. It is the first time I could hear the people at my table without shouting; definitely a win for the restaurant. Ambiance was a vibe. I foresee myself coming back many times. Side note: the cocktail I ordered was fantástico. Props to the whole team for an amazing experience.

Yelp
Had a fabulous experience here! Food was PHENOMENAL. Possibly some of the best croquettes I've ever had, and the lamb shoulder was a standout dish. Staff was knowledgeable of all details in each dish & super attentive. Vibe is great, would recommend going on cooler nights since it has an open air feel. Went with a group of 8 before going to cocktail bars downtown and it was perfect.
