My son wanted to have dinner with me on my "real" birthday so I took him to 131 Main yesterday - his first time.
I don't think it's possible to have a mediocre meal there!
We tried the deviled eggs to start, they're made with relish, which is not my favorite? However, they were very fresh and flavorful - the plate was empty in short order!
He got the blackened chicken pasta with a side of fries. I was very pleasantly surprised - thinking that could be a somewhat mediocre dish.
Nope! The chicken was tender, juicy flavorful, the peppers were fresh and firm/tender, all the ingredients in it? Perfectly cooked and the flavors meshed really well. It was definitely not too spicy - it's something I'd get the next time I go.
I will add in my opinion, good portions.
I got....
The. Prime. Rib. with my favorite: peanut ginger coleslaw!! Holy cow.
I really love the texture, the flavor of their prime rib. Oh, and the side of creamy horseradish, perfect complement! Not overpowering, subtle/balanced. Cooked medium rare, it was perfect from the outside to the inside cooked beautifully.
He told our waitress after we ate, that it was my birthday, I typically try to keep it quiet. Not possible with him, lol!
It was the first time I had their Keylime pie and I have to say this: everywhere I've ever eaten it? This was absolutely the best hands-down anywhere!
You know how much I love Jon Dresslers's desserts but I have to say this? Yep number one spot for Key Lime - 131 Main!
I love lemon/lime everything so it's something I order all the time. This? Would be surprised if anybody made it better
Want to give a huge shout out to our server, Vicki. Everyone from the young man that checks you in, to the front desk to the servers? That staff is fantastic.
Vicki was spot on with every recommendation, but most of all (hello, foodie here) I really loved how she got excited about explaining the ingredients that made up the Keylime pie.
Of course I had to ask because, again phenomenal dessert!
She said the whipped cream was homemade - which I could tell from the texture - it was excellent! oh and they make the key lime with baby limes!
Crust was cinnamon, graham crackers pecans....oh my gosh, I could eat that crust by itself! That's how perfect it was, you could taste the butter - beautiful, thick, great combination of ingredients.
131 Main makes everything home made.
From the honey mustard that my son used for his french fries (I want to buy it and take it home lol! ) you all know how I feel about mashed potatoes and potatoes in general.
Burton's truffle fries? Yep I can down those without blinking an eye!
These thin skinny beautiful french fries at 131 Maine? I couldn't stop picking out the crunchy ones and eating them lol! I really enjoyed it and I would order it a little crispy and of course dip it in the honey mustard!
Anyway, all homemade down to the chocolate and caramel writing on the dessert plate! Yes, you heard that right - even the caramel is homemade! I had no clue until last night that was the case.
If anybody goes back out? Try the Keylime pie and let me know what you think!
Really enjoyed the entire experience and we will absolutely ask for Vicki next time as well. I don't know anyone that works there personally?
However, it was refreshing to see how confident, knowledgeable she was - and it said a lot about how much pride she (the staff) takes in serving every dish, explaining every ingredient.
To me that says a lot about management and culture, I hope I'm right about it!
Thanks for letting me share.
Enjoy the pictures!
