I wish I could give less than 1 star. This management company is a dumpster fire. I don’t even know where to begin. While going through the application process my sister graciously co-signed with me so I could be approved. They sent her the wrong paperwork three times and had her sign and return each of them. My sister was on a work trip and was super busy and they just kept sending her wrong documents to sign completely wasting her time. It was so frustrating because my sister was being nice by co-signing and they clearly don’t value her time. Incredibly unprofessional start. They are clearly a very unorganized team that is not fully capable of running a leasing company. When I moved in, there were no less than twenty items that needed to be fixed. I’m not talking about small nitpicky stuff, I mean cabinet doors were falling off, the shower head was barely attached and flooded the bathroom, and the fridge door shelf was duct taped on. So we were off to a bad start. Then it takes them two weeks to get me my keys to the mailroom and the front door. You read that right. Twoweeks. They use a fob to access the building, elevators and apartment doors… that sounds good in theory but it is only because they desperately want you to get locked out of your apartment so they can charge you fees to let you back in. If you are someone that can be forgetful and might leave your apartment without your keys…. You’re just out of luck I guess and you’ll have to fork over $150. Thanks CLK. Then my keys were stollen when I went home for the holidays and when I submitted a work order ticket for new ones I was only given a key to my mailbox. Not my mailroom. My mailbox. So I still to this day do not have the mailroom/front door key because I am simply tired of jumping through a million hoops with clk. It is incredibly common for the telecom system at the front door to just not work at all. I have been locked out in -2 degree weather because THEIR system wouldn’t let me into my building with my fob. I had to sit in the cold for 25 minutes until someone happened to be coming out. I called the emergency line and they said it would be an hour and a half before I could be let in. AN HOUR AND A HALF!!!!!! That is dangerous and irresponsible of a leasing agency, and you HAVE to do better. Take care of the people that live here instead of bleeding money out of us. Rent is not cheap. For what I pay, I expect the leasing company to do more than the literal bare minimum. I never write google reviews, but I had to for this. I am confident that CLK does not care about their tenants. If you do, respond to this review and do the right thing. Discuss with me what you’re going to do to fix the many many many many issues I’ve laid out above.

The 100 year old building is nice. The apartments are very small, esp for the price but again, pretty nice. However, the management company CLK is unresponsive while at the same time overly authoritative. I didn’t have reliable hot water for two months, management did little despite constant communication on my end. When negotiating recompense, they offered a $50 gift card, which I never actually received. Our packages are regularly stolen from the lobby & management let us know that they were replacing the front door to make it more secure. That was in January, it is now almost April and no new door. The lobby regularly floods. The apartments are heated by in-wall units that are not hermetically sealed, so in winter cold air is constantly seeping in. I have woken up to an apartment that is 40 degrees multiple times. My bike was stolen from the locked bike room, which is located in the locked basement and there are multiple cameras but management did nothing. Overall, I like my physical apartment but it has been an awful experience living here.

I've been here for a month. Great location and price. The apartment is small but everything works fine. There were a couple of problems, I just wrote an email and CLK Rental fixed it before I back home at evening. Excellent service, I am completely satisfied!

Absolutely awful experience with CLK management. I rented at 1325 W Wilson in Uptown. 1. My last months rent was prorated but the full payment came out because I had it on automatic payments and the normal amount came out. They said no big deal, that I need to leave a forwarding address and they could mail me the amount they own. I have contacted them various ways 5 different times giving them the forwarding address and FOUR MONTHS later, I have still not received my money. 2. The mail room in the building was constantly a mess. It was open to the public (in a coffee shop) so anyone could have grabbed the packages. Items were left in there for months on end (including spoiled food in boxes) making in impossible to find your packages. 3. The rooftop was my main attraction to the building because the units were super, ridiculously small for the price they charge. But the gas grills they provided almost never worked and didn't have propane in them most of the time. Then they would allow people to have these huge parties and to film events like stand up shows up there. I would be fine with this if they gave us notice, but it was super disappointing to plan to use the rooftop with a few friends and find it crowded wall to wall with people, most of whom were not paying rent. 4. The lock out policy was an absolute rip off. If you happened to get locked out with your key fob on the weekend or after hours, management could not let you in even though they had a so called "door man" in the lobby after hours. Instead you had to call a specific lock smith who would charge you $100 CASH (yes cash) to let you back in your unit. 5. They ignore emails when you bring up concerns.

Honestly did not have a bad time here. Sure the units are small and a little overpriced, but you're kind of paying for the area too which was great. Amazing restaurants around, especially Kalish and Sam and Gertie's, which are both Vegan, a barbershop, the Abode kids area, and a brand new garden and furniture store. Not only that, but you're very close to Target, Aldi, Jewel, and Marianos, the Aragon Ballroom, Petco, Petsmart, Walgreens, Staples, the Post Office. Honestly the area was great and it made me sad to leave. I also enjoyed the security of the building. I'd previously been robbed and my landlords before took a long time to fix the windows in my unit. So the fact that the building after hours is locked and both elevators and the stairwell require fobs was a bonus for me. And that I also lived on the seventh floor where no one could break in was a plus. That and the view. My unit didn't really have any maintenance issues. There was one the entire year I lived there and it was fixed within 48 hours. One reviewer says they weren't given notice, and you aren't, but when you send in the request it does say by sending in this request, we reserve the right to come in and fix it without notice, which was fine by me, as long as it gets fixed. They did leave a note when I got home so that I knew they had been there. Upon checking, I discovered the issue fixed and it wasn't a problem again. One negative I have are the common areas. The patio was crowded a lot on nice days, especially on holidays like the 4th of July and Labor Day. I suggest going in the late morning/early afternoon when no one was up there. The fitness center was a little small and could get crowded. Not to mention there was someone there doing fitness classes for people who didn't live in the building. I didn't like the fact she was letting strangers in to a space that was already limited. If you're not paying rent, you shouldn't be allowed to use the common spaces. Another issue I had was the lockout procedure, which made me miss physical keys. The batteries on my door died, and then my fob expired, and both times you have to call a separate company, leave a message, and wait for someone to come around to let you in. Both these times took between 20-40 minutes. I never lost or left my fob in my apartment, so I never had an improper lockout, but to have to pay $150 IN CASH is absurd to me. I don't carry cash, and in a world that's relying more on debit and credit, I think this policy should be changed. Sorry for the long review, but I'm hoping it helps in whatever decision you make. CLK wasn't bad, and they responded to all my requests in a timely manner. They were very communicate throughout, always providing building updates and safety concerns. Personally I didn't mind it here, and the only reason I moved was to be closer to my job.

Rude ,been hung up on and lied to about multiple things example ,was lied to about move out to purposely charge me extra extremely difficult company and not only will add stuff to increase rent example i moved in with free internet but the following year they removed that from lease agreement and I was forced to pay for wifi even if I didnt want it, but keep in mind the building was still recieveing free wifi the whole time while I was paying and to top that renewal of lease they will also increase your rent more every year , lock out fee is $150 cash only and must pay before re-entry of unit so if you don't have $150 cash at the moment you get Locked out then your in a jam the building won't allow you to enter your apartment for your wallet or phone ,and the building will tell you to figure it out and borrow money from a friend ...its a fobb no physical key to make copies of ...every viewing they will unexpectedly come to your apartment with no confirmation they did it to someone when i was moving and then did same when i was moving out the past tenat had no idea i was coming to view the unit and they just opened the door and walked in on a person in a uncomfortable situation but nice building list of issues but to much to put ....so that should speak for itself....

Extremely dishonest management company. You should not trust this management company at all. We had so many mishaps that we weren't sure if it was a ton of miscommunication or they were flat out trying to scam us. We literally applied via the email below, and they did everything to avoid upholding what was offered in the initial email. First off, when we applied, our approval got sent to the wrong email. The lease didn't get sent to me at all. When my room mate emailed them telling them to send it to my actual email, they would change it AFTER I signed a lease with them. Second, we were shown apartment 1111 and after we applied they called afterward to tell us that we had been in 911. This isn't true because there are 12 floors to this building and we walked one flight of stairs to reach tour the rooftop. Third, when I tried to reach our leasing agent she never picked up and her mailbox was always full. I also emailed, texted and got no responses. Usually I'm not that aggressively persistent, but they have STRICT 24 HOUR POLICIES for sending in applications and fees. I was literally just trying to make their deadlines but they were extremely difficult to reach. Fourth, when I was finally able to get in touch with them on a Monday morning they kept insisting that I was wrong because of their vacancy policy and we would get rent for a hundred dollars off, but we wouldn't get the free month that was offered. Finally I called again in the afternoon because I want clarity before moving forward I wanted to ensure that we were all on the same page before we paid the $500 fee. The person on the phone put me in contact with a manager who verbally agreed to give us that discount if we sent it in at 5PM. I was like "thats in 45 minutes" and her only response was that it was still fair because I spoke to someone on the phone that morning-even though he gave me different information that morning. She said that she would only uphold this agreement if it is in accordance with what the leasing agent said-however this would not be verified until the next day because it was her off day. There was no way I could send them 500 dollars with that many details up in the air after what we had been through. The manager immediately yelled at me asking "If you were having trouble why didn't you call your leasing agent?". I told her that I'd been reaching out consistently over call, text and email. Needless to say, we did not sign with them. Horrible experience, I couldn't imagine dealing with them for the a whole year.

Believe the bad reviews about CLK. Rude, shady management (if you can even reach them.) You are nothing other than $$$$. Internet is constantly down, elevators rarely work, building entrances and stairwells are often out-of-access. Their response? "Call a locksmith." No security, drunk strangers wandering the lobby and hallways. Utilities are insanely high due to horrible insulation. Friends of management can do what they want (furniture/belongings in hallway, host parties/events on the roof) while the rest of us are kept to strict rules. Your personal information is NOT safe with CLK. They will use your ignorance/confusion over leasing laws to bully you into a corner and get what they want from you.
