Yelp
First time here for Dina LA and it did not disappoint. We started off with a bowl of clam chowder which was good but nothing to brag about. However, the mini tower alone stole the show for me. The oysters were nice and fresh and the shrimp were massive! I probably could've just had the tower and be set. We also ordered a sake and it came in this very aesthic fish! Shoutout to our server who allowed us to test the sakes prior to choosing one! For the entree, I chose the lobster roll. The amount of lobster meat was great for the price! The fries were crispy and flavorful. For dessert, was the key lime pie which was a bit too tart for my liking but overall good. Would definitely be coming back! I heard their happy hour was top tier. In addition, the owner messaged me and asked me about my visit which was a nice touch! p.s. the decor was everything!

Yelp
Absolutely loved the food! The Mediterranean branzino with chimichurri sauce was so flavorful and delicious. The chefs choice oysters were good including all the condiments that come with the fresh raw oysters for toppings. This place is located in the heart of Santa Monica off of Ocean Ave with a good view of the beach/ocean. I recommend dressing warm if you go at night but they do have heat lamps. The service was great. I made reservations for 3 but it was not crowded at all (not sure if it gets busy or crowded any other time since this was my first time visiting). Shout out to our server Zack! He was very nice and attentive. I can't wait to visit again and try other menu items.

Yelp
We were shopping in Santa Monica on Saturday and felt the urge for some lunch. My daughter came up with three strong prospects from Yelp and we picked Blue Plate Oysterette. They have inside and outside dining areas. Fortunately, the December weather was nice, so we picked outdoors to savor the ocean view. We started with some tasty craft cocktails. I immediately gravitated to the Wicked Tiki. It was delish! Since this place is famous for oysters, we ordered a mix of East and West Coast delicacies (Pink Moon and Kumamoto respectively). And for our main courses, the White Wine Mussels were exquisite. The mussels were good size and I loved the white wine broth. It was especially tasty with the bread served with it. My daughter ordered a warm Lobster Roll and the lobster was piled high. I guess it should be for $36. We had a great server who has worked at the restaurant for several years.

Yelp
Finally got to check out this place and definitely coming again. If you are going for DineLA, it's a great deal. You can't share your food but not everyone at your table has to get DineLA, which is pretty flexible of them. The clam chowder was lovely. Then you can get a mini tower (3 oysters, 2 shrimp, and 1 Peruvian scallop) or got half a dozen of oysters fresh (can get them grilled also). Then for the entree, got the lobster roll (which you can get cold on a lettuce cup) with old bay seasoned fries. The service was professional and our server knew the menu and the ingredients used. We sat in the covered area outside and it was lovely. Warm due to the heaters and they allow dogs in the outdoor seating area.

Yelp
Incredible experience! Came here for happy hour during the week. got the seafood tower for 2-3, which comes with 6 oysters, 4 scallops, 4 prawns, and crab dip. really great and not bad price either! Off the happy hour menu, we each got some $14 cocktails, half a dozen oysters, calamari, and artichoke. Calamari was phenomenal. Oysters were all incredible. drinks were good too. artichoke was good but i would probably pass on it next time and try another veggie or maybe a salad. we finished off with the trio of handrolls and they were all delicious! overall a great meal and great service.

Yelp
My husband and I were in LA for a few days and wanted to get seafood! This place has a view of the ocean and is near Santa Monica Pier. We sat outside and enjoyed our view. To start, we got calamari, which was nice and crispy yet tender. I got the Spanish octopus, which I highly recommend! It was grilled perfectly and came with crisp potatoes and an arugula salad. My husband got the red curry mussels, I think the sauce made it the best mussels I've ever had. I would order both of these dishes again!

Yelp
I've dropped by BPO for drinks b4, but never for their sig oysters. We started off w/ fried calamari and 1/2 dozen oysters. The calamari was fresh & GBD. Secondarily, the oysters were super fresh. You could really taste the difference b/t the West vs East coast variety. For my main I had octopus, while she had bouillabaisse (not pictured). I have never had confit octopus b4, but it was so tender it melted in your mouth. I had a couple of bites of the bouillabaisse and it was fantastic. The broth was rich and it came w/ olive bread & freshly grated parmesan cheese: What a great combo to dip in the broth. Regarding the ambiance, its casual and chill. There is indoor & outdoor seating, as well as a small bar area. Our waiter Jason was helpful w/ the menu and attentive. He made a great rec on the bouillabaisse. I can't wait to return to have more fresh oysters and try another entree. I wish there was a place like BPO in OC.

Yelp
Today we joined some friends at Blue Plate Oysterette. The food was delicious and interesting. We had the Ginger/Carrot Salad, 12 Oysters and Crab Cakes. Food was beyond good. My only complaint was that the oysters were so tiny but it was a special so I guess you get what you pay for. See photos. The place is immaculate and outside seating was great. Wait staff was attentive and pleasant. We will go again. Hopefully the oysters will be a bit bigger next time.

Lauren C.

Yelp
Love fresh seafood and glad this place is around. Lovely outdoor seating outside the restaurant with shade and along Ocean Ave. The dishes we had were fresh and delicious. We started with a dozen oysters, which our server was knowledgeable about. Then we had the crudo, which was our favorite dish. The sushi tacos were filling. We finished with the fish and chips, an excellent version of the dish and great old bay seasoning on the fries. Service was excellent and attentive. Prices were on the high side. Overall, a good, casual seafood experience that is not that easy to find.

Michelle S.

Yelp
While strolling around the Santa Monica Pier, we wanted something different from typical pier food and stumbled upon Blue Plate Oysterette. After checking out the menu and seeing fresh oysters being served to diners outside, we decided to stop in for lunch. Though we chose to sit indoors, the cozy interior reminded us of a charming fish and chips spot in London. We shared a small bowl of clam chowder, and ordered the lobster sandwich and fish and chips. Everything tasted fresh, and the service was attentive. Although we skipped the raw dishes (I had a marathon the next day and didn't want to take any chances!), we'd definitely return to try the oysters.

Erma M.

Yelp
Food perfection- fresh and worth every penny! Service was excellent everyone pitched in , team work made the dream happen. :) Ambiance I was being indecisive about where to sit and the team accommodated my last minute request I'm thankful for the food and service A+ overall

Serene A.

Yelp
The host and severs were nice and attentive so it really helped with elevating the experience we had coming to this new spot. Everything tasted fresh and nice. I absolutely loved everything we tried, we order quite a bit because we wanted to try more than just oysters and it was all great. I loved all the decorations and they had a lot of seating outside and the seating inside. The fish and chips were so crispy and the oysters were great, clam chowder is a must, and the lobster roll was great. I would definitely come again and get a bigger order of oysters.

David M.

Yelp
Blue Plate Oysterette is one of my favorite SM restaurants. I love seafood! My lobster roll today hit the spot. I substituted the fries with broccoli, which was a $3 up charge. I like that there's often last minute available seating outside on the terrace. Service is always so friendly.

Tess V.

Yelp
Not for us. We were served steamer clams that had long rubbery necks on them, wish we had been told before we ordered. Completely unappetizing and sadly ruined the entire meal. The 3 Hand rolls were tasteless. Positives: someone at our table ordered the fish and chips and they seemed to like that.

Tiffany T.

Yelp
One of my favorite ho to places. No matter the occasion, I love this place. You get to feel the ocean air and can always take in a walk at the park before or after. The food is consistently amazing whether it be for brunch, lunch or dinner. Service is always consistent and predictable with a comfortably casual and laid back energy.

Adam B.

Yelp
This place is absolutely INCREDIBLE! I live in Santa Monica and eat out every day and this is my go to. Best food, best cocktails and best service. The manager Jenna has a team of staff that works harmoniously together and create the best atmosphere and vibe you will find in ALL of LA.

Jessie H.

Yelp
I absolutely LOVE blue plate oysterette! Their food is always so amazing, and drinks are just as good! Service is super great and you can't beat the location, view, and vibe! They also have a great happy hour!

Krista C.

Yelp
Super fresh! I really enjoyed this place. Would highly recommend the seafood tower and chef selection oysters. Keylime was good, loved the non sugar whip cream. Dislikes: miso chowder was ok, seafood Bouillabaisse was meh, lychee tea was missing the lychee. Valet $17 or steeet parking. Sign up for their newsletter for free key lime pie. I got $50 off $150 with https://app.inkind.com/refer/JKEGAW2L

Yelp
Had been to this place for Dine LA and had such an excellent experience, I was looking forward to coming back and having the fish sandwich again. Alas, it was not available on this weekday mid-afternoon visit but it was "Oyster Hour" time so we took advantage of that. Oysters - Excellent, highly recommended. The non-red-wine vinaigrette was delicious! Clam Chowder - Very good! Shrimp Po Boy - The batter and sweetness reminded me of Chinese walnut shrimp. It was not bad but I would not get it again for myself. Lobster Roll, hot - Very good! Key Lime Pie- Excellent flavor, good level of tartness. Service was slightly lacking. Our waitress did not let us know her shift was ending and her replacement never introduced himself. We had to hunt down people to request things such as water and another order of oysters since we wanted them before our entrees arrived. We ordered fries because we did not know they already came with our entrees. Had we been informed when we placed our order, we would have ordered a different side dish.

Eboney W.

Yelp
Oysters were so great with spot on recommendations! Service was excellent (blessings to Lara!) , ambience a delight. Of course it's the company you keep. Exactly what we were looking for!

Coco B.

Yelp
I am already wondering when we can go back here! The seafood stew was amaaaazzzing, so fragrant!! The oysters were the freshest I have had in a while. The interior is festive and darling, all twinkly and charming.

Chan Y.

Yelp
A Santa Monica staple, right on Ocean Boulevard. Shared a platter of a dozen Oysters, brought in from various regions of the West and East Coasts. Favorite was the ridiculously good Lobster Roll, enjoyed with a nice large side of Mac & Cheese.

Rich C.

Yelp
We had to try because it looked so good and did not disappoint. The parking is valet so prepare to find a place nearby. The service was great and loved our waitress. The oysters were pricey but they had a great variety. We had the octopus, lobster sub, fried cod and bass. All were so tasty and delicious. Great food and great find

Christine L.

Yelp
Wow amazing seafood place my fav in La La Land and an amazing HH! Pluses 1) HH and oysters yummy 2) HH drinks: rabbit, mule, yuzu 3) steamer clams omg so delish 4) crispy calamari 5) great outdoor patio 6) helpful service 7) key lime pie with crunchy crust Areas to improve 1) lucky shrimp large and juicy but overpowered by the sauce - wish they just had it avail grilled or fried with sauce on the side Highly recommended for seafood lovers!

Nilofar M.

Yelp
The first review I saw recommended the lobster roll and that's all it took for me to decide to order the lobster roll! It was delicious! I got it hot with butter and in a brioche bun. There was also an option to get it cold with aioli or in lettuce rather than bun. I thought this was the perfect combination! The fries were seasoned perfectly and great addition to the roll. We sat outside and loved the ambiance. It was a perfect place to grab some delicious food and read a book. The service was great as well. We were immediately greeted by a hostess and sat immediately. Our server checked in on us often. My friend tried the fish and chips and she said it was good as well. So if you see this review just do what I did and order the lobster roll! You won't regret it!

Kisha S.

Yelp
Spicy salmon hand roll was my favorite! Crab dip was great. Best key lime pie I have ever had! Excellent service.

Kelly C.

Yelp
Sooooo good! Yes there are many oyster offerings along Ocean Ave. but this is my favorite combining atmosphere and .. yes delicious oysters. Bring your out-of-town friends here! Or just come by during the week to sample very fresh oysters -- and truly innovative drinks! I'm overdue on this review so I can't promise the drinks pictured would still be available- so I just recommend going and discovering for yourself! Take in the views and you'll be wanting to return ASAP.

Marie C.

Yelp
Still as good as ever Post COVID you never know how places hold up Living in Venice beach for so many years this was my spot But 7 years later I wasn't so sure and was pleasantly surprised Excellent service, food and quality I loved blue plate Oysterette tonight. So delicious!

Yelp
The 15 days of Dine LA were coming to a close and I had one more stop on my to do list. It was at Blue Plate Oysterette on Ocean Avenue, in Santa Monica. Lunch hours were 12 -4 pm. I got there at 12:15 and the outside seating was almost gone. I got one remaining table up front, with the best view. Dining solo has its advantages, there is always room to squeeze in. The fact that the restaurant filled up so fast, was a sign to me that I was in the right place. The Amuse, was a Miso Clam Chowder, that was brought out in a small Turkish tea cup with an accompanying small spoon. The starter was perfectly prepared, creamy, tasty and at the perfect temperature. I could only wish that the cup was larger. For the appetizer, I chose the Yellowtail Aguachile. It arrived beautifully presented. The freshly made nori chimichurri and sliced Serranos in the dish took it to another level. Every bite was refreshing, fresh and had a myriad of flavors. For the main, I selected the warm lobster roll. Here too, no skimping, great seafood satisfaction. Accompanying crisp fries were a good match for the entree. The whole extravaganza (travel to and from, the meal, searching for parking) took me over 3 hours. No complaints though, because it was a memorable seafood meal that deserves memories and high points.

Mark G.

Yelp
Food was fresh, nicely presented. Very flavorful. Decent selection. Parking is convenient. A little bit pricey.Very good quality.

Jessica J.

Yelp
Delicious food and great scenery of the beach. We chose this due to all the high ratings from Yelp. Zack, our server, made experience our dining experience great. We were there during Happy Hour (Monday-Thursday) 4-6pm. We got the Half Dozen Oysters $18. I like the tomato sauce that that complements. Oysters were fresh. The Hand Rolls- ($8 each) spicy tuna and spicy salmon was so delicious with the ponzu sauce. Highly recommend if you like sushi. Lucky shrimp $12 was so delicious too!!! It tastes like walnut shrimp's shrimp but no walnuts. The salad that it came with is so good too! The Seasoned fries $6 was seasoned to perfection. Just the right amount of saltiness. They're known for the Key Lime Pie. It's not on the menu but it's very tangy and the crush is huge. They hand made it themselves.

Patrick C.

Yelp
I had an absolutely fantastic experience at Blue Plate Oysterette! We started with a half dozen of their select oysters, and they were incredibly delicious. The potato french fries were a pleasant surprise, crispy and tasty. The shrimp dish had a delightful honey walnut flavor, and it was light and flavorful. The calamari was a personal favorite, lightly cooked and bursting with flavor. The hand rolls, including the salmon and spicy tuna, were incredibly fresh and almost buttery in texture. The drinks, even during happy hour, exceeded my expectations. I can't remember the name of the beer I tried, but it was on tap and delicious. Our server, Zach, was outstanding, and the Key Lime Pie was a delightful finish to the meal. It's clear that Blue Plate Oysterette pays attention to detail and offers a great dining experience. I look forward to visiting again and savoring that Key Lime Pie once more! We also appreciated the salt water taffy they offered. I would definitely recommend Blue Plate Oysterette, and I wouldn't hesitate to return if I'm in the area again.

Casey F.

Yelp
Why you are so not focused, when you are packing some dish to go put to go every thing what was in the table, don't still or forget any ingredients, or I can not come to you but eat and cook at home! You didn't put my lemon caper sauce and I mentioned to add extra sauce, and you too busy to pay attention for to " go order"!!!!

Stevie S.

Yelp
Oysters were good and a great location. Outside bar tabes not comfortable and you're right on the street so you love it or hate it. Service...so so. Will we go back? Not sure, too many other places to try!

Harry A.

Yelp
Great food, great service , beautiful ambience!!! Cute beautiful spot with view looking over the ocean. Great seeing the sunset while enjoying all this yummy eat. I tried that infamous keylime pie. I approve. Definitely recommend this place for oyster and seafood lovers. I tried a few other items that didn't get to make it to the foto session as they got devoured as soon they landed on the table. Mahi mahi tacos, tuna tartar , fish dip, fried rice bites thingies. Delicious. Come try it out.

Dominique M.

Yelp
Never once has a bad experience dining here. From special occasions, to birthday's for a friend/loved one to solo lunches with my pup! Never once a bad dining experience! Highly recommend getting a tray of oysters as well as a lobster roll!

Jerry E.

Yelp
Very decent pls e to enjoy seafood dishes. Their clam chowder was outstanding, same goes to lobster rolls, too. As for their fish & chips, breading was too thick for me, although the fish itself was not bad. Their shrimp dish was commendable. Overall, Fabulous dining experience. One less than desirable observation was the public parking adjacent to the restaurant. Simply put: outrageous, at least to me, even though my loved one treated it.

Allison C.

Yelp
Stopped in earlier this month during happy hour and they just so happened to be celebrating their anniversary. Shared a dozen east and west coast oysters, fried calamari and their truffle fries-- everything was delicious! Such great vibes and amazing service!

Blessy B.

Yelp
Finally got a chance to come here. It just happens to be DineLA. So my meal came with a salad, starter, entree, and dessert. We started off with an OSAKA SALAD. Greens, ginger-carrot dressings, shallots, and carrot pickles. I loved this. It was refreshing. LUCKY SHRIMP was next. Lightly battered and fried in honey wasabi cream on top of greens. This was the star of the show, for me at least. I wish this was paired with rice. It doesn't seem like a lot but it's actually quite filling. Last, I had the LOBSTER ROLL. I had my roll with hot drawn butter. It's served in a brioche roll and a side of fries. Delicious. The photos doesn't do it justice because this thing was packed with lobster. The dessert was a let down because they ran out and was actually looking forward to the miso pb cookie. Overall a good meal. Our server Josh did an awesome job taking care of us. Honorable mention to the half dozen oysters we had. *Chef's kiss*

Victoria W.

Yelp
If you're wanting some fresh seafood in the heart of Santa Monica, look no further. This place is situated right by the water, allowing you to enjoy a nice meal with a beautiful sunset. We wanted a "light" meal, so we went for the following items: 1. First Mate Seafood Tower: it came with oysters all along the pacific coast, Peruvian scallops, jumbo prawns, half a lobster tail, and a crab dip. The crab dip had giant chunks of crab meat...they did not skimp. All the oysters were freshly shucked and delicious. Peruvian scallops were topped with salmon roe, and the prawns/lobster were cooked perfectly, making each bite crisp and springy in your mouth. 2. Mac and cheese: loaded with cheese, this mac had a stringy/melted cheese consistency, not runny or wet. It's topped with bread crumbs to add texture. The server was chill, had a surfer/California vibe and very friendly. Made sense since we were in Santa Monica. Definitely coming back.

Krys N.

Yelp
As someone who has spent a fair amount of time in New England, this is the best lobster roll that I've ever had! Fresh with ridiculously good aioli sauce, it's worth the price and why I keep coming back! The outdoor seating has a great vibe as you're sitting on Ocean Avenue with a view of what else but the ocean. The street patio side always has a cool breeze and high top tables while the restaurant side is more insulated for colder days with couches and pillows. Service is always friendly and of course, try to get an oyster or two if you can. So good!

Ted K.

Yelp
Came for $2 oyster Tuesdays 2-6 pm. Outdoor table overlooking Ocean Avenue was quite lovely. Just had oysters and drinks which were both high quality. Can't wait to go back

Stephanie S.

Yelp
Our server was amazing and made the dining experience great! He made great recommendations and was very friendly. The oysters were fresh. Lobster roll and crab cake was delicious. Would definitely return.

Rashed Z.

Yelp
| Rating: 4.1/5 | * Parking: Limited street parking, it's Santa Monica, what do you expect. But, I think they have valet? Not fully sure. But the street parking is free, just park near by to watch for the parking police hunters. * Restaurant: Most of my rating will go here. It is a perfect place to restaurant by the beach, you can get a view of Santa Monica pier, with the beach it's quite nice. The vibes are quite simple, friendly and warm. The customer service was great; they were actively asking if everything was okay, giving recommendations, and smiled a lot, which is appreciative. I had to take a seat outside, because I planned on having the view of the ocean, beach and sunset, it was fairly there. I'd recommend outdoor seating so you can feel the vibes of Santa Monica street life and it's unpredictability. * Food: Quite simple, fresh and raw! One thing I'll say is, they live up to their oyster hype. We had the simple chef's choice platter, 6 oysters, two types one from the West and one from the East. And can I say, the oysters were sublime! Oddly enough it was sweet, the brine was perfect, the temperature was delightful, came with cute forks and 3 types of sauces to enjoy the oysters with. That was the star of the show! Then I ordered some tartar, which was doused in Ponzu, tangy and flavorful. The lobster roll, it was really buttery, most of its flavor was from the butter and the sweetness of the lobster, which was quite fresh, but I wish it had more flavor for it's price. I same fingers pointing at the fish and chips; it was 3 fried fishes, fried to perfection. The house tartar sauce was great, but the lack of flavor is what keeps my rating from going any higher. The fries were great! We also did some scallops, which was a shot of flavors, you can't really put a word to it, it was great experience. All in all I will say is, GET THE OYSTERS, and TRUST THE CHEF! Other items are quite "Western" per se, lack of spices, but overall good. * Price: It's by the beach, in Santa Monica, next to BOA, so the prices will be a bit high. As someone who took my mother out for some dinner, it was money well spent since I loved the oysters, the vibe and the customer service, but overall, if the food had more flavor I would say the prices may have been justified. But they need to knock off some dollars from their regular items, like their Fish and Chips and lobster roll.

Debbie P.

Yelp
Maybe we ordered the wrong thing? The ambience and location can't be better as I'm sitting here watching the sunset on the Pacific Ocean. Got here in time for the happy hour menu. The six fresh oysters were very good. The clam chowder wasn't good and it was a very small portion for $14. We sent the french fries back to get hot, crisp ones. The bouillabaisse SOUP was very good, but it was full of overcooked mussels, clams and shrimp. Couldn't find one shrimp that wasn't rubbery. The service was good overall it was pretty disappointing for a very pricey meal.

Mark B.

Yelp
Came here for Dine LA with my wife the other day and here's how my experience went. For starters we ordered the half dozen oysters. 3 fat bastards and I totally forgot the name for the other 3. They were all so good. Tasted fresh! Next I had the osaka salad. The dressing was really good has nice crunch from the crispy shallots. Really good! Next I had the lucky shrimp. My favorite of the bunch. The shrimp was so good. Creamy, succulent, salty and sweet. Might come back because of this dish. Lastly I had the lobster roll. It was good not great. The lobster was a bit tough and lacked flavor. The main reason why I didn't give this place a 5 Stars is because of the manager walking around. I noticed he greeted everyone around the patio except for me and my wife. It somewhat made me feel a little unwelcome but it's not a huge deal. Our server Josh was great and made up for the manager

Hellie N.

Yelp
5 stars! Oysters were FRESH and delicious. We ordered two types of New Zealand oysters recommended by our server and both were excellent. Lobster roll with tons of fresh lobster, the classic set of handrolls was perfectly flavored (did not need the ponzu sauce provided). Drinks were good. We'll be back!

Bry L.

Yelp
This was so good! The yellow tail sashimi with the green sauce was a perfect Asian-Baja mix, the touro sashimi basically melted in your mouth (and it didn't taste like metal!) and the holy trinity temaki was like trio of flavors that basically took their time dancing on your tongue, acts one after the other, back to back, til you head explodes from how genius an idea it is to have all these in one beautiful photogenic open face roll. Also each drink was refreshing and delicious. Lucky Yuzu was tight and the purple haze was unlike anything I've ever had at a raw fish restaurant.

Linda Y.

Yelp
MUST ORDER THE KEY LIME PIE! Food here, super fresh I love that it's next to the ocean. The crispy rice was amazing and the oysters were so tasty!
