Where To Eat & Drink In Eastlake

"14 Carrot isn’t the kind of diner that you’d stop in for a chopped salad or a cup of coffee. It’s a place where you’re going to eat piles of hashbrowns and crab cake benedicts, and wash it all down with a pint-sized watermelon mimosa. This greasy spoon brunch spot is charming in a nothing’s-been-updated-since-1977 kind of way, based on the old photo collages, vintage dining tables, and coin-operated Runts dispensers that nobody uses. If you’re only going to order one thing, their cinnamon-y carrot pancakes topped with icing and maple syrup are so good that it puts their actual carrot cake (which, to be fair, is also good) to shame." - aimee rizzo

Google
Absolutely love this place!! My favorite spot for breakfast in Eastlake! The coffee is great, the pancakes are delicious and the cinnamon rolls are amazing. The chicken chilaquiles is my to go choice but I try to get a different dish when I come back. Can’t wait to try the mimosas.

Google
Great brunch option in a quiet neighborhood serving up some great carrot cake pancakes. Yes, carrot cake pancakes! This is a popular brunch option so there may be a wait, but its worth it. The usual breakfast items are available with some South of the Border options as well. All very tasty but the star is their carrot cake pancakes that I order every time. I had the chicken fried steak with an extra pancake on the side. More than enough food and for a reasonable price.

Google
Pretty nice place with quick service. We went for a Saturday brunch and the place was fairly busy. I tried their pumpkin pancakes from the special and the carrot pancake. I liked the regular carrot one better. I took sides of the sausage. My wife took the mushroom feta spinach omelette which was nice as well. Overall a nice place with parking easily available.

Google
Cute little diner! I really like their carrot cake pancakes, which are certainly indulgent for breakfast, but you can order just a single one which is nice. The other breakfast staples I tried, bacon and hash browns, are also solid. And if pancakes aren't the sweet treat you're craving, their cinnamon roll and classic carrot cake are both superb.

We had a great dining experience here this morning 2/9/24. Not a busy morning today, but we’ve been here when there was a line out the door. Worth the wait. Delicious cinnamon rolls, filling and tasty food. Menu consists of breakfast and lunch. Open daily 8-2, except Tuesday, they are closed. Several tables, some outside dining available. Funky, fun atmosphere! Service was great, everyone very friendly.

Google
Service was quick and friendly! We even got a free pumpkin pancake accidentally ordered to another table. The food is a tad bland and pricey ($36 per person for coffee, entree, half a cinnamon roll). The cinnamon roll is great! With a different order, would consider visiting again.

Google
Such a pleasant surprise. Delicious vegetarian breakfast! We had the black bean breakfast burrito and Greek veggie omelet. The homemade strawberry jam was to die for! And, such a cute farm style vibe with plenty of seating.

Google
When I sit in the window here and the wonderful Petunia brings me a carrot cake pancake combo with bacon and eggs and a cup of diner coffee, I feel that for a little while all is right with the world. And that is no small thing.

Yelp
Pros: cozy vibe, this place seems to be a local favorite Cons: food is on the greasy side (which is common for diners), waiting staff is friendly but not very attentive, food (to me) tastes so so

Yelp
Obsessed with how cute this cafe is! Also love their carrot cake pancakes! My husband and I came on a weekend around 10:30am and we were easily able to get seating. They have both indoor and outdoor cafe seating. Service is really friendly. I heard it can get pretty busy on the weekends. We got the carrot cake pancakes - so delicious and we also had the corn beef hash with sourdough toast and scrambled eggs. The corn beef hash was really tasty! Meaty with some bell pepper and onions mixed in and with the hash browns, so tasty! 10/10 would come back again for breakfast/brunch! I really want to try their carrot cake and cinnamon roll!

Yelp
This is a good breakfast spot for good portions. I wouldn't say the food itself is outstanding. The scramble I had was just okay...not a lot of flavor, but the bacon was good. I would come back to try the carrot cake since that's what they're famous for!
google avatar

Yelp
Super cute little spot in Eastlake! They also seem to have some limited outdoor seating and are pretty busy so you might need to wait for a seat on a weekend for brunch. The server was very kind and also very much herself and candid. It was fun joking with her and it felt very much like a neighborhood cafe. The food was really really good too. My friend regularly comes here for brunch and suggested it and I'm so glad she did! I loved the carrot cake pancakes and cinnamon(?) butter (and I'm not a big carrot cake person either so if you are then you'll be over the moon!). I got a side of eggs and they brought me bacon too, which I just gave to my friend as I'm vegetarian. They have a ton of vegetarian options on the menu too which is awesome. I'd definitely come back and try more!

Yelp
Maybe this is a one off? But service was pretty dismal. Asked for fried egg then precede to argue with waiter how a poached egg isn't fried? Unnecessary. Asked for cream took a good 15 mins to get it, but by then the coffee was cold. Food in general is good, but service made us think we'll try out different bfast places before returning. Area is happening and restaurant full.

Yelp
Family gathering today and this cafe was in the neighborhood where we were centered. Cute place with good energy vibe and friendly staff that were quick and energetic. Had to order the carrot pancake for everyone to try and boy were we glad that we did. Next time I'm here I'm ordering that as my entree or dessert. The hash browns were on the colder side of hot but wow they were crispy and tasty. The rye toast came to the table cold...one star lost. The other entrees were good, not wow. Overall a good place to have a reliable meal.

Yelp
Finally got to review the restaurant that's been "cracking eggs for 40 years." Pros: -Large portion sizes - Seated immediately - Service was super attentive - Food was AMAZING! You could taste the freshness of the ingredients. - The specials were so creative! Eggnog pancakes, Thanksgiving themed eggs benedict, oh my! Cons: - Brass monkey was very frothy as you can see! - Did not realize our mains had a big side of hashbrowns so we definitely over-ordered!

Yelp
Came here for breakfast on a Sunday and we were able to get a table for 6 easily. I got the Greek eggs Benedict which was a special they had today. The eggs benny was good but not enough sauce at all. I also got a side of bacon and the bacon was very crisp which I like but it could've been cooked less. I got a drip coffee as well which was alright but they just had regular cream and sugar for it. It started to get packed there once we were there for a while but we had very attentive service.

Yelp
14 Carrot Cafe is a small brunch spot in the Eastlake area with a lot of history. At first it used to be a grocery and meat market, then it was a variety of taverns for years, then it became the 14 Carrot Cafe. It has been run by the same family for 25+ years and is still going strong. We came here on a Sunday morning at 10:30am and were seated immediately for a party of two. I ordered the lake union scramble ($18.50) and both the scramble and the hash browns were on the bland side and needed some salt and pepper. The bread also was a little hard and felt like it had been sitting there for a while. It was pretty pricey for the portion size and I was expecting more. We also ordered the 14 carrot cake ($9) to share and it was a little dense. The frosting gave it some sweetness but it was just okay. The staff was friendly but I thought the food could've been better.

Gabriella R.

Yelp
I went to 14 Carrot on a Sunday around 9:45am. We were seated right away and service was very prompt and attentive. I ordered a carrot cake pancake and a side of bacon, and holy cow, the pancake was so good!!! I also tried a bit of the cinnamon roll and buttermilk pancakes from my friends, which were both also fantastic. My only gripe is that the prices were a bit steep (almost $10 for one pancake), but I suppose that's to be expected for the location. Overall, I would definitely go back - next time I might try their pumpkin pancake!

Yelp
For me this is one of the best breakfast spots in the PNW. We try and visit the Seattle area a couple times a year, and this is the one place we always eat at least once. It's got a laid back vibe on the inside and some of the best service anywhere. Order your meal and always get at least on carrot cake pancake! You will not be disappointed!
google avatar

Yelp
As a pancake lover I came back for the carrot cake pancakes since they had run out last time, and they did not disappoint! Had to get them to go but they were freshly made and hit the spot.

Jane E.

Yelp
Best place for breakfast!! Melissa was one of our servers, everyone working was in perfect sync with everyone else! The kitchen was down a chef so it was a little nuts but our food came out hot & fresh!! It was amazing! The portions are huge so bring a friend & prepare to be wowed! Everything was hot, fresh & perfectly prepared. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Quick and attentive service. Food came out fast. Tasty. Good outdoor seating for dogs.

Yelp
Nice small town cafe vibes would recommend carrot pancake. Eggs Benedict somewhat small

Yelp
A friend and I came to eat brunch here. Parking wasn't too bad for a Sunday, we found street parking pretty close by. We got to pick our own seating which was nice. Our server was just a doll, they were so sweet and attentive, just such a bubbly personality. Someone you would want to get to know. My friend and I both ordered the eggs Benedict, she got a Greek style one and I got the one with pesto. Delicious. The hash browns were also delicious very crispy. The vibe was homey and definitely a place I will visit again.

Brandon D.

Yelp
Absolutely great breakfast. We got the seasonal specials. One was a Mediterranean scramble, which was new to me and really delicious. The other was the orange poppy seed pancakes. Our server was super friendly and hilarious to chat with. He even brought us a cream cheese frosting on the house to try with our pancakes, which was amazing and decadent but it was too heavy for us to finish on the spot. The vibe here was pretty nice too, being in a historic building and all. There were photos of the owners up on some of the hallways which was fun to look at. Will definitely visit again soon!

Yelp
Chicken Fried Steak (6/10): Gravy was nothing special and for the price I expected a flavorful CFS Cuban Sandwich (9/10): Sandwich was really good. The bread was buttered perfect and overall the sandwich had great flavor Breakfast Chorizo Burrito (7/10): Not a bad choice. Nothing special about the burrito. If you don't know what to get it's a solid option Overall I thought the food would be better for the price. The hashbrowns weren't crispy at all which made me lower my rating.

Yelp
Pretty average brunch place. Food is fine, nothing to call home about but nothing to complain about either. Coffee is a bit weak but not offensively so. Atmosphere is cute with homey vintage-style decor. The wait staff who helped us were very friendly and accomodating to our largeish (8 people?) group. Prices were average to maybe even a little below average for the area, which can be expensive. All in all it's a fine place to go if you need breakfast/brunch on eastlake, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go here.
google avatar

Rigo T.

Yelp
Great little (not so little) spot in Eastlake! Great food. Pricing, good. Amazing customer service! The Breakfasts are awesome. Today I tried the club sandwich, comes with turkey, ham crispy tasty bacon, cheese, lettuce, and tomato... I added avocado, it was as delicious as it sounds! Their jam is homemade! Ask for Kristina! She's awesome! Best server ever!
google avatar

Yelp
you must get the carrot cake pancakes!! the servers are very nice and the restaurant has a cozy diner feel. they have outdoor spots too!

Yelp
What a find A great spot for a weekend breakfast! Greeted and seated quickly. We had the Eggs Benedict, Farmers Breakfast, the Greek Omelette, and the Tuscan Omelette. We're already planning to come back and try the pancakes. Incredibly cozy and unpretentious.
google avatar

Jillian E.

Yelp
Walked in and while there were two hostess standing at the entrance I was not acknowledged for about two minutes. The whole experience eating here seemed very impersonal. Received my order of the Monterey omelet which seemed cold and the salsa tasted sour/old. I decided to give it another try the following day since I was in town for the weekend. The staff were a bit more welcoming but nothing noteworthy. the basic breakfast seemed cold, undercooked hash browns and the cinnamon roll was dry/stale. Not impressed. A bummer as the Eastlake neighborhood could benefit from a great friendly breakfast place but this missed the mark.

Yelp
Gave this place a try on whim. Our family was looking for a place to order some delivery breakfast and found 14 Carrot. I'd have to say, everything we had was tasty. Definitely adding 14 Carrot Cafe to my "must try this place in person" list.
google avatar

Brianna B.

Yelp
I usually can't eat a stack of pancakes this big but I finished every last bit of the carrot cake pancakes- they were super good! If you're a fan of carrot cake I think you'll really like these- they're fluffy with a good cinnamon flavor and going all out with the whipped butter/syrup made it such a good treat. They have nuts and dried berries but not too many in my opinion (I don't like them a lot in pancakes usually). The service was great and so super friendly! (: Seating is available outside or inside.

Kristen E.

Yelp
This place was incredible for breakfast!! My family of 6 came to eat breakfast and the service, food, ambiance, and cleanliness were great! They have plenty of options. The staff are kind, respectful, and responsive. They are very attentive to customers. They were able to split our check too which was great! The only reason for 4 stars is that compared to the east coast, prices were higher, but I would assume reasonable for Seattle! Worth it to eat there though!! Lovely local place.

Yelp
Good food, great friendly service in a cute little restaurant. We relied on our Yelp family to get us here and we may have to eat our way through the menu. Everything we had was amazing!

Yelp
This is been a favorite neighborhood spot of mine for the last three years. I ordered takeout today based on the photos of the menu posted. I was vey surprised by the total amount. The prices have increased significantly. I've posted pictures of the takeout menu however, the prices are $1-$1.50 higher than listed and the haven't printed the new one. The food is good and for the most part, I think the pricing is fair with a few exceptions. A slice of carrot cake is now $9 which is more than many desserts at high end restaurants. I gave the restaurant 4 stars for a a couple of reasons. One time they forgot to put avocado in an omelette on a take out order and one of their servers is not very helpful or friendly. I've had her serve me on a 3 occasions. There is another though who delightful and provides wonderful service. I still recommend the restaurant.
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing food and ambience. Husband found this place because we were going to be in the area and had read the review and it did not disappoint. Service was quick, friendly, and food was hot and delicious. Will return again.

Yelp
14 Carrot Cafe is located just down the street from my home on Eastlake. I have wanted to check this place out for awhile now but based on the operating hours it has never met my schedule. Recently, my wife and I were vacationing in Arizona and we flew home extremely early the other day. I realized that this was finally my chance to stop by 14 carrot on the way home and get some grub. One thing I always complain about living downtown Seattle is there is never restaurants that feel mom and pop like. I come from a small town growing up and this is something important that I miss. Everyplace in downtown is so modern or tries to be trendy and this isn't always the best especially for breakfast. 14 Carrot Cafe was immediately the place I've been looking for! The second we walked in I knew I found a breakfast place that would be amazing. We were greated and got to select our seating. Quickly the kind waitress took our drink order and the food honestly came almost 5 minutes after. The service was great and quick. My mimosa was strong in a good way and the glass was large. Of course on an eggs Benny the poached egg is always the determine factor to make or break the meal. The eggs were cooked just right. Look, if you want a fantastic meal and a comfortable relaxing environment check out the 14 Carrot Cafe! You won't be disappointed. -Colter

Yelp
I think my love language is brunch. I can eat breakfast foods all day. So when the bf and I came here for the first time, I was really excited! We both ordered benedicts. The bf got the crab and I got the florentine. Both were tasty, but it could've had a little more hollandaise on our bennys. The reason why I gave it 4 out of 5 stars is because I'm kind of a benedict snob. It wasn't bad but I have had better. Nonetheless, it was still good. When we went, there was no wait, which was awesome. Service was really quick and friendly. I wouldn't mind going back to try their other menu items. If you're in need of a good breakfast spot, check this place out!
google avatar

Philip S.

Yelp
A decidedly mixed experience. The front desk and table service were friendly and enthusiastic. Good pacing and sharing of information. But the food delivered from the kitchen was lacking in many respects. Even an order as "eggs over medium" proved to be beyond capability. The grilled cheese sandwich was not grilled but rather two slices of toast with some cheese that had presumably been melted on the flat top added between. Serious questions about the skill and/or experience of the cook cannot be avoided. A place as famous as the 14 Carrot deserves better. I hope they can sort it out.
google avatar

Chara C.

Yelp
love their bloody mary that's made with sake. Also ordered crab cakes and chicken fried steak, everything was as expected (decent, not amazing but definitely not bad). staff was kind and hard working.

Zenny C.

Yelp
Diverse menu with plenty of great options both salty and sweet. Fun and quirky atmosphere with friendly staff. The carrot cake pancakes are a must try!

Yelp
Worked out with friends in Eastlake and then walked to 14 Carrot to eat back what we had just burned. :) This is the epitome of friendly diner food. Lots of seating including outside (pooch-friendly), no wait even on a Sunday, tasty hot bottomless coffee, satisfying hearty breakfast. No frills but no fuss either and won't break the bank. Service is friendly and prompt. Thoroughly enjoyed my Joe's Scramble, which is my buddy's weekly go-to order. Would love to return.

Janet T.

Yelp
Hadn't been to 14 Carrot Cafe for years (pandemic) plus live the outside Seattle area. We were able to be seated immediately, whereas there had always been a wait for an open table. I was nervous that the food wasn't as good as before and I was correct. My spouse got the daily special omelette and I got their Eggs Benedict which were fine but nothing special. With so many great breakfast choices in Seattle, it'll be a while before we return. The service however was very good and just the right amount of friendliness.
google avatar

Jacqueline D.

Yelp
Was so excited to visit 14 Carrot Cafe for takeout today. Things took a little longer than my takeout time (40 instead of 10-15) but that happens, and isn't the reason for my one star. While waiting for my food, I noticed that the cook (open kitchen cooking area) had his mask completely off, and under his chin while preparing ours and others food. No accident, as I watched this for over 20 minutes (as I mentioned... food took longer than expected) and was not corrected until my partner said something. Another man who was serving often times had his mask under his nose for extended periods of time while near customers, and when in the back area (visible but not as close, and near the cook), had his mask off. I'm all for supporting local restaurants in Seattle during this difficult time, but I think that guests also should be respected in this - the health and safety of guests also needs to be considered. I'm really disappointed in this experience. I've never seen such ignorance for health and safety at any restaurants in Seattle during this entire pandemic.
google avatar

Amanda M.

Yelp
Surprisedly good food. Will definitely return Patty melt side salad and lemonade were excellent
google avatar

Danielle H.

Yelp
Super bummed to pay an extra $2.50 for a quarter of a strawberry. The coffee was $4 and it was 3/4 full in a 12 oz cup. The breakfast burrito was fine, but not special. Pretty disappointed to spend $50 on 2 pancakes with a quarter strawberry, 8 oz of coffee and a small breakfast burrito. The Smuckers syrup is so gross.

Norm S.

Yelp
Horrible food and service. No mustard on tables. Ketchup container near empty. Patty Melt dry. Fries limp. Huevo rancheros on hard taco shells not swimming in sauce. Never coming back!
google avatar

Rose S.

Yelp
DO NOT GET FOOD HERE!!! I have never been so disappointed ordering food from somewhere. I literally have to finish cooking this before I can eat it. Like is it even safe to eat? And at this price?? Like I understand that things happen, but I'd rather my food take longer than receive a pile of raw potato and soggy bread. Not to mention this quesadilla is mostly tortilla? Whoever made this has brought shame upon the food industry. How can you make hash browns that aren't even brown. Get it together
google avatar

Brandy L.

Yelp
We ordered take-out (Caviar) for the 2nd time. We had the Eggs Florentine Benedict, the breakfast quesadilla, carrot cake (we may or may not have each got a piece...), and mimosas (both may or may not have been just for me... *wink*). The food is great! My only disappointment is that I'd included special instructions to please cook hash browns dark/well done/crispy, and that didn't happen at all. However- they were still good!! There will definitely be a 3rd order placed - likely in the near future! Thank you, 14 Carrot Cafe, for keeping us nourished during the pandemic!
google avatar

Michelle S.

Yelp
In a world where people have become pretty rude, this restaurant was pretty amazing. Friendly, helpful and above & beyond service! Hostess offered us an extra table to spread out in and although we didn't take it, we appreciated the suggestion. Our waiter overheard us talking about a birthday at our table and brought us a pancake to share as a present!
google avatar

Jane L.

Yelp
AmaZing brunch spot in Eastlake! Breakfast sandwich was bomb and the omelette was very interesting in a good way since it had basil leaves inside. Carrot cake was definitely more dense than any other carrot cakes I have ever had (hence the missing bite, I could not wait to try). Coming back for sure for more food! They had seasonal pumpkin pancakes which I wanted to try next!
google avatar

Amanda K.

Yelp
Love love love 14 carrot. Stop by any day and have a carrot cake pancake. Or a carrot juice. Or just sit outside with your pup and grab some coffee. The servers love to bring bacon pieces for the dogs joining you for breakfast on the sidewalk. Come out bundled up in the winter and ask for the heaters. This place is great and the staff is too!

J. R.

Yelp
Came here 3xs with my work friends and we all loved it! The food is yummy and they have gluten free pancakes that are AMAZING Ambience and service 100% on point Even when they're busy, they greeted us right away and served us as quickly as possible Next time we come for another gig we will definitely be there

Ann C.

Yelp
Awful coffee. No latte, only nasty drip. In spite of wonderful service I will NOT return. Visited with 7 friends.

Yelp
Big shout out to this friendly neighborhood eatery. While I don't think they take reservations for Sunday brunch, I called ahead and they held a table for my 88 year old mother (and me). Food was very good as usual and our waitress attentive. (Grandmother must be verified!)

stuart s.

Yelp
Good typical neighborhood diner. Friendly staff, good breakfast/diner food, and they seem to go all-out on seasonal vibe (Halloween, Christmas etc.).
