By Tae - Review - Capitol Hill - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Finding By Tae is kind of like finding the tiniest Russian doll inside of all the others. Once you get through the random doorway at Chophouse Row on Capitol Hill and into the lobby, you’ll find a little seven-seat counter. Behind it, there’s miso soup boiling on a hot plate and a man who tends to it. You’ll find only one thing on the menu, and it’s a handroll tasting that involves three handrolls for $25. You never know exactly what you’re going to get, but the fish is extremely fresh, and if you mention to the chef that you’re into seared salmon, he’ll probably whip up something special on the house." - Aimee Rizzo

Yelp
Such a great place. The staff is so kind and the food is delectable. The salted egg yolk calamari is a MUST. It gets busy but it's worth the wait. We loved our server and bartender. The lychee martini is also necessary!

Yelp
The waiter was attentive, good ambiance. Personally, I do think the food really hits. The pho is super rich in the broth, but way too much noodles imo. The banh xeo tacos were definitely yummy, but so little shrimp (6 pieces of 3 halves shrimps). Overall, good food, steep prices.

Yelp
So many competing restaurants nearby, was hoping Xom offer good/comfort food but unfortunately it did not meet expectations. Had the Bank Xeo taco appetizer (18$), no taste of coconut milk (or even hint of), tumeric or any kind of unique spices hallmark of banh xeo. Veggies was fresh and fish sauce was good. Com Tam entree (20$), basic and nothing memorable, again where is the spice/flavors unique to this dish. Had the Halong Bay cocktail (15$), nope! Just undrinkable, it burn and lack any flavors listed in the drink description. Maybe i'll return to try the duck plate or pho. Update: I took the leftovers home (Com Tam and Banh xeo), after reheating it in microwave for 30s, the Banh Xeo actually had decent coconut milk/tumeric flavors and the com tam pork/loaf was peppery and good. Perhaps the bad cocktail completely numb the senses from the burn.

Yelp
Came here on a Thursday evening for dinner and the place was very chill. I loved the interior decor and vibe, though it was a bit small so I can't imagine what it's like when it's a full house. The grilled cuttlefish appetizer was amazing! Had a great and subtle charred flavor and it was served with a lemongrass/sour sauce that was very flavorful paired with it. I really enjoyed this dish! Also got the bun hue chay (tofu noodle soup). It came with fresh veggies and chili oil which I loved. I asked for extra limes since I like my soups lime-y. The broth itself was a bit plain so I'm glad they gave the chili oil and limes. The dragon mule was a great choice too - a big slice of dragon fruit came on top of the drink. It was light, not that strong. My friend got a cocktail which was way too sweet. Service was quick and friendly! Overall would come again. They had lots of shared plates options for pescatarians which is a huge plus for me.

Yelp
Yummy as always! The Banh Hoi platter was good, though I wish their mam nem dipping sauce was better (their nuoc mam dipping sauce was on point!) The morning glory stir fry was good though it leaned more on the salty side. The Xom Wings were good, but I wish they were more juicy inside rather than dried out. Overall, everything was good but something is still missing out. 8/10.

Yelp
Tastes 10/10, ambience is 10/10 what got us was the portion size. It was over $20 for a kid sized meal. We brought it back to our hotel because it was already 11:45 and we didn't want to keep the staff there late, and to our surprise the portion was only enough to fill up my husband, he ate most of both bowls. The flavor was amazing though! Even if they just gave more noodles since we know proteins are inflated now.

Yelp
This place was such a pleasant surprise! My friend and I went for Seattle restaurant week, and the food was delicious, service was lovely, and the decor was on point. I had the muc chien (fried calamari), com tam (pork chop, pork skin, meatloaf, with rice and veggies), and tiramisu. First off, the portion sizes were huge; I took half of my food home. Second, that was some of the best fried calamari I have ever had. And third, the main dish was a really nice surprise. I didn't know what to expect, but the pork chop was well cooked and seasoned, the pork skin strands were really interesting, and the meatloaf was surprisingly delicious and moist. I've also since reheated them at home, and it held up pretty well. They don't take reservations, so I don't know what waiting is like during peak times, but on a Thursday at 7:30, it was easy to get a table, and it seemed like it slowed down after us anyway. I look forward to returning!

Yelp
Service is good and ambiance is nice, similar to my feelings about the food. As a Vietnamese person, obviously I judge Vietnamese food harsher than others because I've tried so many variations and recipes from my mom's to the street vendors in Vietnam. I think Xom's food is flavorful and they've definitely gotten the right ingredients. Some things tasted too sweet for me, but overall everything was tasty and fresh. I wasn't blown away but I'm not dissatisfied either. Definitely pricier than Vietnamese restaurants in Little Saigon but it does the job if you're wanting a cute date night. I'd come back to try other dishes and their cocktails!

Yelp
Place was great. Service was good and the overall vibe of the place was great. Seemed new still and some dishes could use some perfecting but overall i enjoyed dinner and drinks. Got a mix of small plates and entrees. Parking can be a bit hit or miss.

Yelp
This rating is for the food. I like ambience of the restaurant with the plants. It's a cute spot for lunch. I split the seafood platter and broken rice dish with my friend. The seafood platter/tower comes with two pieces of mussels, oysters, shrimps, scallops, and grilled octopus. The oysters were amazing with the sauce that they put on top. The grilled octopus was excellent as well with great flavor and texture. The shrimps were dry and other two didn't quite stand out as much as the oysters. The grill pork was good but a bit overpriced for what it is. Service is okay. I arrived at the restaurant asking for a table of two, waiting for my friend to show up. The hostess asked how long it will take for my friend to get here as I can't hold on to a table for too long when the restaurant wasn't busy when I enter and the entire duration of dining.

Yelp
Service and ambiance was amazing! I love the little alley way with tons of surprises and the waitress was super sweet. The food seemed overpriced for a viet restaurant with the portions/ingredients given. It was good, but I'd rather have gone to a reg pho place to get the same food with bigger portions, side veggies, etc. Example below: pho next to me only had bean sprouts, lime, and jalepeno but very little portion and the vermicelli I got only had lettuce as a vegetable. Seemed pretty expensive for what is given

Yelp
A wonderfully quaint and cozy Vietnamese lunch and dinner spot in the heart of Capitol Hill. The inner decor is an open kitchen concept with plenty of exposed bricks. The food is on par with most of the omnipresent Viet fare in the city. We did enjoy the grilled cuttlefish, which is basically in your squid/octopus family. They also serve it deep fried but we enjoyed the flavor the charred creature with an excellent tangy lime/chili sauce. The banh mi is stuffed with a protein of choice and crunch pickled veges. They overdue the may a bit and we didn't taste the promised pate. At $13 there are better, more cost-effective Viet specialty Sammie's in Seattle. The vermicelli bowl with grilled pork was a divine variety of flavors and food textures with a tart fish-sauce based dipping sauce. Full bar and friendly service. Look forward to trying their signature bowls of pho on next visit.

Yelp
Xom has become my favorite local spot for banh mi! The menu items are traditional but the flavors are elevated as quality of ingredients are simply the highest. The pho broth is so layered and deep in richness. I love dipping my banh mi in it, but also ordering the pho on its own is an absolute win. The service is quick, and you're treated with care. It's obvious that when you're here, you're family. Great location too - in the heart of the hill, with a modern cool vibe!

Yelp
Cap Hill parking is rough but if you can brave it or use other means of transportation then it's worth it to make the trip to eat here! The interior is relatively fancy with table and bar seating, and you can see the kitchen nearby as well. For me and my friend, we got seated quickly to eat at this place I've heard of advertised frequently on IG. The one dish that caught my eye was the bo ne, which comes with beef, two sunny side-up eggs, pork pate and fries on a small iron skillet, with a baguette on the side. Eat this with the Chin-su hot sauce they provide, and this was one of the best and most balanced dishes I've had! Friend got the com tam which had grilled pork chops, pork skin, pork meat loaf, eggs and veggies, and he loved his dish too! Food did take quite a long time to come out; however this did not detract from my experience here, and service was fast and quick. Superb food in a cozy location! Pricing is higher than other Vietnamese restaurants I've been to but they make up for it in taste and quality.

Yelp
Trying to recover from last week disastrous bowl of pho, I wanted to go to another Vietnamese restaurant. Xom is like a little bit upgraded Vietnamese restaurant (similar to Ba Bar). We ordered 4 5 dishes * Noble scallop with butter and garlic: the flavor was great and the amount of Scallops is generous. I just wish the broth were a little bit denser * Chicken wings with passionfruit sauce: wings are crispy and moist but I couldn't taste any passionfruit * Broken rice: the pork chop was really flavorful. Fish sauce was ok and maybe it's intentional but it lacks the fresh chili flavor * Sizzling beef: beef was tender but it needed a little but more salt and the pate was good. * Xom supreme: basically the special Pho with oxtail, eye round. The broth had really good aroma and I love the fact that they used the fresh noodle. But it seriously needs more fish sauce because broth was quite bland

Yelp
We came in around 9pm on a Saturday. The interiors was very cute and clean. They were closing down one side of their restaurant so we were sat to share a big table with another party. The drinks were delicious! My friends who got the vegetarian pho (bun hue chay) loved her dish. I ordered the xom supreme but it didn't come as many oxtails and bone marrow as I would hoped. The soup was also too much so the flavor was a bit diluted. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Parking was street parking which was normal for cap hill.
google avatar

Truc M.

Yelp
The restaurant is small but upscale design. It's not actually Vietnamese foods like the name it called it's more like mixed Thai and Viet Cuisine, for better taste The service is good, friendly But they will charge you gratuity for party of 5

Yelp
Recently came here for lunch on a weekend and it was pretty empty; we had reservations, but definitely didn't need them. My husband and I had spent our morning eating our way through the Public Market, so we knew we weren't too hungry. Ultimately, we ended up splitting the grilled scallops - very small for $22, but also very delicious - and the banh mi sandwich. The banh mi was a great portion for the price and for it to be listed under the "small plates" - plus it came with fries! We were with another couple and they both got entrees - which were giant portions! However, they said their food was delicious! We all had cocktails, the pink sangria, the on cloud, and a banana old fashioned (I forget the actual name); all were delicious and with very different flavor profiles.

Anh T.

Yelp
As a Viet, I think the food and drinks is alright and the staff is quite accommodating but service is slow. Their appetizer seems to be more appealing and better taste than the entrees.

Yelp
Xóm is a newer restaurant that opened up a couple months ago located in Chophouse Row of Capitol Hill Seattle. They serve up delicious drinks and Vietnamese food. It's a beautiful restaurant and we had such a fun lunch here this past weekend. My phở was comforting and the stuffed prawns were a favorite! They were attentive and always checked up on us. Yelp
The good here was very good. The passion fruit sauce on the fried chicken wings made the dish. For dinner, I had the vermicelli with pork, and it was the most flavorful vermicelli I can remember having. I ordered the mocktail One Fine Day. It was flavorful and a nice balance of sweet and sour. I don't go to Capital Hill very often, but I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
Banh mi pate is very very salty (ordered banh mi twice this year). Google online menu states banh mi is $13 and online ordering is $13. I ordered by phone hoping to save them any fees from the online service. Realized after getting home that my total with tip was $23 (tip was $3). I see a menu listing $18 from online Google images posted by other reviewers. Portion for banh mi was good. 3 stars due to inconsistent pricing and saltiness

Yelp
Place is cozy and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The bartender was pretty good cocktail was good. I order Bun Bo Hue and the Bahn Plan. The soup lacking some flavor but not bad same as the plan.

Yelp
Another Capitol Hill winner! So many yummy dishes. The Bo Ne would easily qualify on my list of last meals before I leave earth - tender, juicy tenderloin steak on a bed of caramelized onions, amazing pork pate, with 2 eggs, sunny side up served with soft, chewy bread to soak up all that goodness. The cuttlefish dish has a side of aioli that has a nice kick to it. The grilled scallops were absolute flavor bombs. The Com Tam was a savory affair expertly made with broken rice. Super friendly staff was patient and helpful at explaining the different offerings. Cute, modern setting made this an outstanding meal to be filled with joie de vivre!

Yelp
I had high hopes for this upscale Vietnamese restaurant. However I think it fell a little flat. The prices were pretty steep for the same quality I can get at any other Vietnamese restaurant. Their attempts to make it upscale didn't work. The giant stuffed prawns were a weird mushy texture and didn't have much flavor. The rest of the food was good but nothing special. The interior was super cute and presentation of the food was nice. But we were also out in the corner table which felt a tiny bit cramped. I probably would not go back since I can get the same food for a cheaper price somewhere else.
google avatar

Ryan C.

Yelp
Xom is upscale Vietnamese food with fun cocktails and a cute ambiance. Although I feel a bit conflicted about what to rate Xom. I didn't think the food was innovative, tasty, and worth the price. We got the pork stuff giant prawn appetizer as well as the cuttlefish. The cuttlefish was great. The prawn... not so much. A bit overcooked and mushy. And then we had some rice/vermicelli plates. They were tasty. You had your meat, rice, fish sauce, some veggies, and fried egg rolls. That's about it though. For the price and "upscale"-ness of it all, I would've expected either a much higher quality taste OR something innovative. Some flare, an exotic fruit, an egg shaped egg roll ya know? Altogether for about 3 people (with drinks) it was about $110ish with tip, and I didn't even get a FULL meal or drink. I don't mind paying for a bougie meal once in a while, but I did not think this place was worth it. The best tasting item was the cuttlefish. The drinks ARE fun though, I'll give em that. 3 cause xom xom xom (a subpar nom)

Yelp
Came here last night with a friend and had a great time here. They have been opened for only a week and plan on doing their soft opening for a month before the full launch. Some food items are not available for the moment. The cocktails are really good with amazing presentation. I was impressed with how flexible the bartender is to accommodate my needs. The lychee martini is A MUST!

Yelp
This place is mostly good, with a nice cozy & intimate vibe. I came here for dinner on a not-too-busy weekend night and was seated immediately. The server was friendly and fast. I tried the bò né, pho, and calamari. One by one: - the calamari was delicious! it came with a salted egg yolk sauce that i couldn't get enough of. - the bò né was very good. The steak was tender, sauce flavorful, and pate added a lot. My only complaint was that the fries were pretty soggy. - the pho was not very good at all. The noodles were overcooked and the broth was very starchy, almost as if they'd over-cooked the noodles in the broth itself.
google avatar

Michelle Z.

Yelp
Food was okay, I enjoy the Com Tam Trong Suon Bi Cha however that was it. Everything else was pretty mid in my opinion. The mango salad was overly salty while the vermicelli noodles needed a bit more seasoning. I ended up combining the too into one since that was the only way we could finish the salad. The service was also really slow, I understand it was pretty busy but waiting a 35 minutes for a dish sadly wasn't the vibe. However the waiters did come to check up on us so that was nice. I wish this reached my expectations as I was really excited to try this place out but sadly it didn't.

Yelp
Food: We ordered the Muc Chien (calamari), which was really good with the sauce. I had the Bun Hue Chay, which was pretty good as vegetarian pho goes! It also had vegetarian ham in it, which was a nice touch. My partner ordered the Pho Tai Nam, but ended up with the Bo Ne, which he still liked. The drinks were very good - had Dear Violet and Halong Bay. We would order everything again. They do have 2 vegetarian mains and a couple veggie apps. There are also markings for dietary restrictions like gluten free, and notes of things that contain nuts and shellfish. Service: The service was good considering they just recently had their soft open. They were very kind and checked in on us regularly. The place was busy, and I think the kitchen was still figuring things out. The calamari came out after our meals, because I think they forgot it, which was fine. It was tasty and worth the wait. My partner also got something he didn't order, but he liked it and the server offered to exchange it to make it right but he was already munching so he stuck with it. Then the owner personally offered to make it right at a future time and treat him to a bowl of pho. So I really think the service was pretty good and they addressed any slip ups in communication in a satisfactory manner. Ambiance: it's in the space where marmite used to be. It's a little small with some interesting configurations of tables and bar seating, but the decor was cute, classy, and warm. They have little hooks for bags at the bar and for coats at the door. The only negative was that their sound system seemed to be on the fritz. The speakers would suddenly get loud and blast the music and then quiet down. It went from background pop jams to clubbing vibes. I saw staff trying to adjust the speaker to fix it but it didn't seem to cooperate. Otherwise, it was a lovely little spot for dinner. Overall, I think once they sort out the kinks from their soft open, this will be a great spot and I'd happily go back for more.

Yelp
Awesome food service and cozy beautiful dining space with a bar and outdoor seating. Nice place to meetup with friends. Definitely have to come back to try their other dishes.

Yelp
Xóm is now open in Capitol Hill's Chophouse Row! They are located off of 11th Ave in the little Chophouse Row Alley directly to the right of the entrance. Xóm is a modern Vietnamese Bar and Restaurant that represents Vietnam's trendy side of dining while still keeping a true authentic taste to their food. I heard about them through their sister restaurant Ông Lắm Bistro on Instagram, so I had to check it out immediately since I already love their food! We came into their establishment as a group of 6 yesterday evening and we were seated right away. The waitress serving us was very friendly, and later the owner Cuong introduced himself and was very welcoming! Looking at the menu it was similar to their sister restaurant, but with a bigger emphasis on their drinks. My friend was really excited to order Bia Saigon (Saigon Beer) since it's pretty hard to find in Seattle, so we ordered a couple of bottles. According to the owner, the Bia Saigon was exported straight from Vietnam. So if you're looking for some real Vietnamese beer you can find it here! Me and two others in our group ordered their Bò Né which is a breakfast/brunch type of dish that includes a beef tenderloin, eggs, cut cherry tomatoes, pâté, and some fries all served in an iron skillet. They also give you a plate of toasted baguettes for you to dip into the skillet. I've actually already had this dish from their other location, and both are delicious! The beef was full of flavour and easy to cut into, and dipping the piece of baguette into the egg and pâté gave a satisfying taste and feeling. Two other people in my group ordered their Phở dishes, and they both seem to have enjoyed it! One of them said it was very similar to what they ate back when they lived in Vietnam, so that's a good sign! I had a great experience dining here and already plan to make another visit this week. As much as I love the old school Vietnamese food we have out here, I'm thankful we are finally getting more modern Vietnamese establishments that reflect current trends of Vietnam. Congratulations to Cuong and his team for their soft opening of Xóm! If you love the food from Ông Lắm Bistro, then you'll definitely love the food and drinks here!

Yelp
Food and service were quite good. New go to in Capitol. The trial platter was good for two and full of vegetables

Yelp
Tried this place out on a Sunday night with 4 friends and had a great experience! Honestly loved that they marked the menu with wasn't available. Why don't more places do this? We ordered the wings, banh mi and Bo ne and a bowl of pho broth. They were all delicious, including the mocktails! The service was great too! I can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Keeping it short and sweet, the ambiance felt cozy and the service was welcoming. However, the food could use improvement. There was nothing impressive that would make me come here again and again. I got the Bo Ne and while it was good, it wasn't anything other worldly. Also one of my pet peeves is when the cutlery and plates don't play well. The bowl was too short and the chopsticks too long & they didn't provide a knife to cut the meat -- felt quite awkward to eat. Apart from the food, the drink list seemed quite limited and nothing quite made me feel inspired to drink. We were with 3 other people and they all felt the same feelings. I wish this business luck but they need to tweak some things in order to find longevity at this location, in my opinion.

Yelp
I did enjoy this place. I would say the vibes are correct, and the service was spectacular. The Viet Coffee was perfect. The only thing I would say is that the bowl of pho was not that great. Okay, maybe I just wanted a bowl of soup that would warm me up and make me want more of it. Or maybe I was just hung over, wanted soup and maybe could have tried other stuff on their menu instead. I don't know but that basic bowl of soup with thick noodles was just not hitting for me. Granted it was presented extremely well. Each person had their own plate of veggies, filled with a lot of gia (bean sprouts), chanh (lemon wedges) and ngo gai (basil), and tons of seafood sauce & spicy sauce. That for sure was a win for me! At the end though, maybe I should have just gone with my gut and ordered the Bun Ga Nuong or the Com Tam instead. Dammit, I really wanted this place to me on point for me. I will for sure rave about their Viet Coffee though. That was a perfectly dark and strong viet coffee for the morning. And I should have ordered another one for take out after that. I will be coming back for sure to try it again with other menu items with friends. Do not worry. An update review will be coming soon.

Yelp
I saw this place on IG so I decided to give it a try. My boyfriend ordered the combo pho and I got the bo ne. The prices are steep and you can get better tasting Vietnamese food elsewhere for cheaper. The ambiance of this place is nice but I have had better pho at cheaper places. This was my first time having bo ne and it wasn't anything special. I could probably have gotten a bigger piece of steak but presentation was nice on a sizzling plate. I'll stick to my usual pho spots.

Yelp
I got the com tam, pork banh mi, and xom supreme. The grilled pork chop on the com tam was very flavorful. However, the accompanying rice and egg, while prepared well, were pretty standard, and the shredded pork skins, unfortunately, were also mediocre and didn't leave a lasting impression. The oxtail emerged as the star of the dish in the xom supreme, delivering a succulent and flavorful experience that left a lasting impression and the broth of the soup was well balanced. As for the pork banh mi, I found that the bread was incredibly crispy and it elevated the sandwich making it quite tasty overall. Throughout our entire time at Xom, the service was really great. Quick and efficient, the staff ensured a seamless experience. Our waitress stood out for her warm and friendly demeanor, adding a welcoming touch to the overall atmosphere.

Yelp
Had a great experience here at Xom a few weeks after their grand opening and wanted to try some of their most popular items. Had the Pork Skewers and the Pho both of which were excellent! Loved the interior and the location was perfect. Had excellent service from the team and it was fun to see my meal being grilled up right in front of me! Seriously smelled so good! Can't wait to come back and try more things on the menu!

Yelp
fun new vietnamese bar in chophouse row. it was pretty busy when we came on a friday night, we didnt have resos so we kind of got seated at a tiny table in the back. it was super cute and dark and vibey inside, and i think itd make a great spot for drinkies/small bites. they have about a dozen fun cocktails!! very playful combinations that all look yummy. i tried the lychee martini, which was sweet and tasted like lychee, very simple but did the job. i also tried their violet drink that was also sweet and beautifully presented. they were very nice and made my friend an off the menu dirty shirley, and im sure they could accomodate if you asked to adjust sweetness in the drinks. for dinner we had the pork stuff prawns, which came w four pieces of prawns, which was nice to try but maybe a bit expensive for so few. we were told all of it was edible including the shells, so we ate all of it. the shells were crispy and had a bit of char to it. it came with a side of some sort of citrus but even after adding that the flavor of the whole dish was still quite mild. the stand out dish for me was probably the glazed chicken wings with passion fruit. wow!!! it was sweet, tangy, and i think one of the more unique menu items that they have. it came with about 8 pieces of wings/drums. the wings were a little bit skinny but the taste of the wings made up for it. i think this appetizer is a must try! for entrees we shared the bun thit nuong, which was actually quite a bit of food. the pork was ok, some of the cuts were pretty fatty. it did taste good though and also had a great char to it. the nuoc mam that it came with actually had a kick to it. comes with noodles and some veggies to pair it with. there was only one egg roll, and it was just fine, nothing too special about it. also shared the bo ne, which i will probably skip next time. the pate and eggs and bread were good but the slice of beef tenderloin was well done and not very appetizing to eat.

Yelp
Loved everything about this place: service, food, ambiance, and drinks. The location and ambiance were what drew me in, but the drinks, food and service are what make me want to come back. We ordered the Bò Né, Calamari, Pho, Bun Thit Nuong and Cuttlefish was on the house! The portion here is great and pricing is really reasonable. My friend tried the 1, 2, 3 Dzo (Cheers) cocktail and it was really good, definitely recommend.

Yelp
Love the location of this place in Chophouse Row! We came on a Friday night around 8 pm and there were a couple tables open so we were quick to get seated. We ordered wings, the Bo Ne, and the pork chop plate. We wanted to try the chicken wings bc of the passionfruit sauce which gave a tangy flavor which I sadly wasn't really into. The chicken was a little bit on the dry side too so I wouldn't order this again The Bo Ne was a 4/5. The pate and egg with the bread was the best part; steak was a bit too well done but flavor was good! Would get this only if you like pate :) The rice and pork chops, I would recommend bc the meat was 5/5. I'll prob try one of the pho's next time! Service was amazing with everyone being really sweet and recommending various things on the menu. The atmosphere is really nice with cool lighting and a laid back feel, would def come back just for the vibe and some drinks.

Yelp
Decided to try this Vietnamese restaurant on Capitol Hill for lunch with the family. When we arrived at noon when they opened we were told all the tables were reserved and only bar seats were open, luckily my kids were over 21. Decided to try the small plates and ordered the chicken wings, cuttlefish fish , pork belly . We also ordered the mango shrimp salad, pho, bo ne, and com tam with pork chops. For drinks we had the Vietnamese cafe su da, and bac xiu cafe latte. Everything tasted authentic and the customer service was fast and friendly. Street parking in Capitol Hill is as expected but we found parking around the corner. The restaurant was in a cute alleyway along with some cute shops and a Bicycle & Cafe shop at the end of the alley. The restaurant also had a beautiful bar.

Yelp
Staff were very attentive and checked in on our table throughout our meal. They were very accommodating and friendly. Decor is amazing and does well to create an experience. Drink wise, my friend and I ordered the Halong Bay and Dear Violet. Both drinks were very pretty and the alcohol amount was generous. Food wise: - Muc Chien (fried calamari with salted egg yolk aioli): perfectly battered and fried. The sauce was amazing, I appreciate that the sauce was at the bottom, it prevented from the calamari to go soggy. - Canh Ga Chang Day (fried chicken wings w/ passion fruit sauce): reminded me of Canh Ga Chien Nuoc Mam (fried chicken wings w/ fish sauce) but without the umami and slight spice. The wing sauce at Xom was more reminiscent of a sweet and sour sauce. - Bun Thit Nuong (grilled pork, vermicelli, egg roll, veggies/herbs): very tasty but not outstanding, presentation was beautiful! The nuoc mam (fish suace) that went along with this dish was sweeter than I typically like it. - Xom Supreme (prime oxtail pho): 0/10, noodles were absolutely mush. I've never ever sent back a dish AND ask for an item to be taken off my bill before this dish. Their small plates are generous in quantity. I would maybe visit here again for cocktails, small plates, and to try their Bo Ne if in the area. I hope they troubleshoot a bit more, because the staff and ambiance is lovely.

Yelp
Ambience is great, very cute spot in Post Alley and next door to ice cream and wine bar for after dinner dessert. Banh mi was really good and I'm picky!

Yelp
I was kind of hoping for a Vietnamese restaurant that specialized in something else besides pho (we have tons of great pho places in Seattle). Maybe something like Banh Hoi with different grilled meats or crepe or something that makes it different from your typical place. I ended up getting the oxtail and while the broth was good they asked if I wanted thin or wide noodle and I got the wide since it isn't typical. It just falls apart and so hard to eat, also if you're going to have pho on the menu at least provide the correct spoon, a normal metal spoon is hard to pick up the noodles and broth. We got the wings to share and there was something off about it (either needed more fish sauce) but just tasted too sweet and honestly had better wings at other viet spots. The drinks are great and strong. Service was good but the food? Mid

Yelp
We brought our mom here for Mother's Day. She loves sea food so we were excited to come here after I saw an Instagram reel recommending Xom. Unfortunately, none of us enjoyed our food as it was very bland and un-flavorful. Drinks were also watered down. We also ordered the seafood tower (apparently a popular order) and it was just so totally underwhelming. Service was mehh... We came at a non-busy hour so I'm unsure why our waitress took forever to come check in our table for drink refills or for any other requests. She also forgot to log in my order when we first ordered so my food was delayed. By the time she finally brought it, the whole table had already eaten & was ready to go. Bill came out to around $366+ for a few orders.... Overpriced for sure. So disappointed with food influencers hyping places up just for the views, smh... never again!

Yelp
Delicious new Vietnamese spot tucked into an ambient and aesthetic area of Chophouse Row. Service was quick and attentive. We got the bò né which had a good serving of pate and tender steak. The supreme oxtail pho was delicious, highly recommend getting the wider noodles. Definitely look forward to coming back and trying other dishes!

Yelp
TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I have a few things to say about this place. I recently went here not too long ago, when it first opened actually back in November. I went here with some family, and adored it! The ambience was beautiful, music at a low volume, fantastic servers, good food. However, after a second trip, I am NOT pleased with the service here. A friend and I were strolling along capitol hill, and she was in desperate need of a place, and so I suggested Xom. Arriving there, we enter in and I see a person come, and I forward closer and we ask for a table of two. This person, whom I believe to be a woman, was EXTREMELY hostile and rude. They, in a very aggressive tone told us to wait and back up to the door??? To which we complied, they then angrily asked if we had reservations. During this time being, I did not know if this was a reservation only place--it wasn't. I replied, "I didn't know you guys only took reservations only, I'm sorry." Keep in mind, I in no way intended to be rude or needy when asking for a table of two, there's not a host stand or anything when walking into the restaurant from either entrance. Working as a host in the past, I just assumed the next best option would be to ask any employee. I felt as though this aggressive hostile response was so unnecessary, and my friend was too also taken aback by it frankly. They then did a huff and puff while flipping through their reservation book after my previous response, which at that point we should've just walked out at this point. This is in no way how you should be acting towards customers, also, please keep in mind, there was not a SINGLE person in this restaurant either. It was dead. I understand the stress of a busy day and dealing with annoying customers, but... there was nobody AT all, and only a single chef working in FOH. Afterwards, they sat us down at a 6 top, (???) when it was just the two of us? I mean, not a big issue, but generally, I think it's to be assumed that a party of two would prefer a smaller more intimate setting? There were plenty of two-three small seated tables next to us... again, not a big issue, but when I left to use the restroom, my friend asked if we could be moved to the table next by or to a smaller one if possible. The person responded no, there would be people coming in soon... As if we aren't customers? Fast forward, about 40 mins in (we were sitting and chatting for a while) not a single customer had come in still. Those said small tables are not filled. Very upset and annoyed by that. This was last Saturday afternoon on a very busy day in Seattle, so I get if there were reservations, but absolutely no one came. Throughout eating, (meal was decently good, priced averagely for Seattle), service was mediocre after the first interaction, they became less hostile. All in all, I will NOT be returning back here. Left such a bitter taste in my mouth, me and my friend genuinely were so uncomfortable after the first encounter with this person. They appeared to be in their late twenties to early thirties, with short hair. I am not sure if this person was having a bad day, but it isn't an acceptable excuse to treat customers like that when you have 0 prior to them. Really unhappy about this experience which is disappointing considering I had simply fantastic servers last time.
