"A steady option for dine-in, take-out, or delivery service, this restaurant bangs out Americanized Chinese classics and Sichuan specialties with speed and finesse. The spicy, Sichuan style beef noodle stew brims with pepper flakes and tender protein in a crimson-colored broth." - Eater Staff

Google
The food was decent. Nothing special. The dumplings in spicy sauce were not spicy at all, in fact they were pretty bland. The sesame noodles were alright, not the worst I’ve had but also not the best. The service was really quick though.

Google
THE WORST CHINESE FOOD in My LIFE ! Order the food by Uber the delivery was extremely fast! the bad thing was the food the rice was overcooked , there were parts of rice that were still white and balled and others with too much soy sauce it only had three shrimps, the ribs were dry without barbecue sauce, And by the way without napkins or cutlery

Google
Be aware: my boyfriend got food poisoning from here! We ordered takeout (chicken lo mein, vegetable fried rice, sweet and sour pork) for reasonable prices and it seemed fine at first but the sweet and sour pork didn’t seem fully cooked and the sauce was watered down. Then my boyfriend felt awful and had a rough night of food poisoning throwing up the food. We will not come here again.

Google
Order was correct ordered online. Appears to be a takeout only place at least when I went. Tables were set up to block entering beyond the doorway. Food was good. Ordered the fried squid - was good but no longer crispy with travel time. Dan Dan noodle was okay, not spicy. Beef broccoli was good. Food was good as leftovers the next day too.

Visiting DC from NYC. We know and love Asian cuisine and everything we ordered here was spot on. Steamed veggie dumplings, cold noodles with sesame, and General Tsos chicken were favorites. It was all a pleasant surprise because we ended up here by accident. We originally stopped at a larger older place across the street but left after reviewing its menu. To us, 14th St Cafe Asian Bistro has some of the Best Chinese food Logan Circle offers. If you haven’t ordered from them yet, try it and see what you think.

Google
Both the orange & sweet and sour chicken were very good! The atmosphere is very calm & there was no waiting time. Plus, the waitress was very attentive and kind. I recommend checking this place out!!

Google
This is the best takeaway Chinese I’ve tried in the Logan circle neighborhood, but it’s not a dine in establishment as there are chairs blocking the restaurant off from the front door/pickup area. A somewhat standoffish woman took my payment and handed my bag over when I came in, but that’s fine as you can order online to minimize interactions. Portions are normal sized, spot felt clean, and the food was ready really quick after ordering. My favorite general tso chicken I’ve found so far, really nice sauce not too sweet.

Google
Food was delish, but had been sitting too long because of delivery driver so the chicken dried out. Lo-mein SHMACKED

Yelp
Excellent food and portion sizes. Really good about special requests as well; always piping hot and tasty. Ms. Hwang is also a lovely, lovely person and super kind and helpful.

Yelp
The place is small and actually just starting to have inside dining. In a location with lots of competition. Doesn't look like much but also only 3 tables if you want to eat inside. There is a stick by the door, hmmmmm.. I ordered steam dumplings and Mongolian beef. Let's hope it is good. No fountain drinks, if you want a soda it is in a can. Dumplings are okay, not real taste to the meat. But they are good Oh, the Mongolian beef is the bomb!! Wow!! I have to say some of the best I have had in a long time.

June M.

Yelp
Food was sub par. SO disappointed. Ordered gyoza, fried dumplings, sesame chicken and soup. Had leftovers which we tossed (which we never do) but it was barely edible freshly bought, for lack of a better word. We ordered take out so ambiance doesn't apply but service was good. Open to any other recs.

Yelp
14th St Cafe Asian Bistro is as close to authentic as we've gotten here in DC (and I am from the area). Not only is the food delicious and full of flavor, but the portion sizes are huge! The customer service is great too and they are quick to make any edits if needed once I have ordered. Appetizer use I would highly recommend the crab Rangoon, fried wonton and hot and sour soup! The crab Rangoon reminds me of that old school Chinese carry out growing up that kept it simple and delicious. It wasn't the fancy crab Rangoon a lot of places are doing now. In terms of entrees, Hunan Chicken, Mongolian beef, General Tso and Seafood Lo Mein have been a hit! The Seafood Lo Mein actually had a decent amount of seafood (more than one shrimp and one scallop)!! The General Tso was not dried and overcooked like so many places are prone to cooking! My only gripe is that the food is SPICY! Mind you, I don't mind but if I plan to share with my small kiddos I can't! So keep that in mind and ask them to adjust the spice level if needed! This is our new go to Chinese take out, hands down!

Yelp
We ordered Sour Vegetable Fish Soup, Stir Fry Bok Choy, and Green Pepper Chicken (rice is complimentary) for three people and we were stuffed to the brim. Note there are not many space or tables around (only 3) to dine in at the restaurant. Hence we did take out instead. Great substitute for Szechuan Great Wall which unfortunately closed down a few weeks ago. This is the closest that one can come to authentic chinese food in the district. Would love to try other dishes in the future.

Yelp
Wow! Just wow. This is the freshest Chinese food that I have EVER received from a "carry out" place. The inside is still closed from what looks like covid restrictions so I had to make the order and then wait outside. The woman that took the order told us that it would be 15 minutes which was fine. From that I should've known that the food was going to be really fresh. When I stepped back in, she was in the kitchen, helping out the chef and then saw me standing outside and knocked on the window for me to come in get the food. Now the food oh my goodness was so delicious I got the general Tso chicken, and it really looked like they cut up chicken breast, breaded them, and then tossed them in the sauce, and the broccoli was really freshly steamed and still had a crunch to them versus the dead looking vegetables that you get from other carry out establishments. I'm almost ashamed to say that I've been working down the street for over four years and have never try this place before but they will absolutely be my number one to go to with the lunch special. Oh and it's a bit spicy on a good way and the peppers used a real. I accidentally bit into one and WHEW. FULL burst of spice (in a good way)
google avatar

Naina Z.

Yelp
Solid place to go for weekday lunch! The general Tao chicken was really good and enough to fill you up for two meals at ~$10. It's a takeout-only spot and service is very quick. There's a really easy online ordering system on their website (you can specify spice level there -- I recommend the spicy!)
google avatar

Angela K.

Yelp
I found a ladybug in my bokchoy. Extremely disappointed in the quality control. Never coming back again.
google avatar

Nicholas R.

Yelp
I did takeout which is good, not exceptional. The fried dumplings were mediocre, but the shrimp w/broccoli dish I ordered good.
google avatar

Moe P.

Yelp
A mom-and-pop store with authentic home-style dishes. Reasonable prices with quality ingredients. Recommended dishes to try: - stir-fried egg with tomato - sichuan dry fried pepper chicken - fish with sour mustard - mapo tofu
google avatar

Yelp
Fast and good Chinese food Still take out only it seems but the food was pretty good. I called ahead everytime and instantly went inside and got my food right away.

Jacob T.

Yelp
It was good the wait time is short, the food is a little les quality subway but still good for a great price and if you order a bubble tea with your meal The wait time for the drink is at most 2 minutes. 4 starts

Jonny A.

Yelp
Wow! Its reputation precedes itself! Everything is so good! Crab Rangoon, Spring Rolls, Shrimp Fried Rice, General Tso's Chicken and Sweet & Sour Chicken!

Yelp
A neighborhood favorite and one of my "go-to" favorites as well for really good Asian Cuisine and American Chinese Take Out! In my opinion.....hands-down one of the best "cuuhrrry-outs"....no pun intended, this is DC pronunciation for carry-out...in the DMV!! lol Trying to find really good Asian eats and take out in DC can definitely be a hit or miss....BUT, I must say 14th Street Asian Bistro is a "HIT!" I have ordered from this restaurant on several occasion and not once have I been let down. The food is fresh, consistent, and full of great flavors! No overladen soy sauce, MSG spiked or salty dishes here. Due to COVID, the restaurant is open mostly for takeout and delivery only. The menu is expansive, but, the Hunan Jumbo Shrimp, Hot n' Sour Soup, General Tso's Chicken & Spicy Dry Spiced Pepper Chicken are my favorites. In a nutshell, EVERYTHING....I've tried has be great...the bomb!...delicious and fresh. The Hunan Jumbo Shrimp is a highlight and very good. I tend to customize the dish by requesting it spicy and with xxxtra garlic. And when I tel you it delivers!!...it drops the mic! It is made with a mix of fresh vegtables, shrimp and flavorful XO sauce. The shrimp are huge, cooked perfectly and generously portioned in this dish. A must try! I ordered this dish during my last visit along with the Hot n' Sour Soup which was soooooo good. It had the right amount of tofu, ginger, mushroom and chili paste spice to make this appetizer dish memorable and something that I will order again. Last, the General Tso Chicken was a winner as well. This dish was filled with chunks of lightly breaded chicken, tossed in a finger-licking sweet and citrus-spicy sauce that had a great garlic and ginger kick! All the ingredients and veggies were fresh and the entree portions were large....enough to share for sure! And, one note of mention....the fried rice here is legit. Finally a carry-out in DC where the fried rice is wok seared, "brown" in color and flavorful.....not "yellow" in color, bland, stale or gummy in texture. This goes for the white rice as well. Sorry, but I had to say this because so many carry outs have missed the mark on this one. lol In all, great food and consistency at its best given that my expectation for good Chinese takeout DC has been far and few. The service is fast, friendly and the lady that general takes orders (sorry...I forget her name) is always so nice, attentive, helpful and patiently answers menu questions. 14th Street Asian Bistro Cafe....is a "Thumbs Up" in my book! I definitely will be returning and keep this spot on repeat when craving good asian eats!!

Yelp
My sister loves Chinese food and was visiting from out of state so our first night in, we ordered a bunch of our favorite dishes. This is a restaurant where you can order some of the classics: lo mein, spring rolls, general tso, tofu pretty much any style, and more. With an extensive menu and plenty of vegetarian options, this is a solid choice for Chinese food cravings. I really enjoyed the vegetarian steamed dumplings: the filling was surprisingly delicious with mainly vegetables minced and browned to a delicious paste rather than rice noodles or big pieces of carrots and cabbage--which is my typical experience with dumplings. All other dishes were good, a bit spicy, but pretty good. The only exception is the lo mein which was very boring--the noodles were a tad dry and there weren't that many vegetables.
google avatar

Saiba K.

Yelp
The best Chinese takeout I've had in a long time!! The food was great and fresh, it was ready quick, and service was nice. This is going to be my go to spot!

Yelp
Why...in all things holy...did I have to come all the way to Washington, DC for some good Chinese food?! Houston--Texas--is absolutely trash when it comes to Chinese food, thus far. I escaped to the national's capital for my own sanity (a mental health vacay), and I haven't had Chinese this good since leaving home in Louisiana three years ago. Customers who weren't in line actually moved out the way, the lady at the window actually had manners and a sense of humor...my simple order was actually correct...and 14th Street Cafe actually acknowledges the fact that we're still in a pandemic. But about the food. The spare ribs were absolute BOSS. I was gnawing on those like a Doberman with a bone, and while I hate onions, the shrimp fried rice was to die for. Like I said, it's embarrassing that it's taken three years and a trip halfway across the continent to find great local Chinese food again, but I've found it at 14th Street Cafe Asian Bistro. With large portions, this was the best $29 I've ever spent. And it's right next to a liquor store. "Happy Friday, ah?" Yes ma'am, it definitely was. ETA: I thought I took pictures of the food! Oh gosh, it was that kind of night.

Yelp
Fast , delicious, and affordable. I ordered the take out Kung Pao. They served it with a side of white rice. Service was fast and I didn't have to wait long. I am not sure if they do sit down but the ambiance from I could see looked decent.
google avatar

Yelp
Got takeout here recently from this spot...food was plenty warm and fresh by the time we got it back to our hotel. I'd call this pretty typical Chinese food with all the comfort items you've come to know and love. We did a family-style meal with soup, several appetizers and a couple of main dishes. The hot-n-sour soup was the favorite of my daughter's, she ate the whole thing by herself! Everyone enjoyed the crab rangoons, but they had a mostly cream cheese filling with little in the way of actual crab. We ordered two style of dumplings...both a steamed pork version as well as the pan friend (gyoza) kind; everyone thought these were good! For the mains, we had a General Tso's chicken which had a very hearty sauce along with an order of kung pao chicken which had some serious heat going for it! All parties involved left the table full and content.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite Chinese takeout places in DC. The food is always fresh and well priced. It's one of my favorite fried rices. You can order a small side order of it for any dinner occasion for cheap! The lunch specials are great.
google avatar

Isabel D.

Yelp
I ordered from the 14th St Cafe with a craving for some dumplings. I wouldn't say the food is the best I've ever eaten but it was pretty decent. I ordered the pork dumplings and the beef lo mein. I really enjoyed the beef that came in the noodles but overall the texture of the food was a little mushy. However, I did order delivery so that might have played a role in that. I'd definitely give the restaurant another try! The prices were pretty good and the food was tasty, I'll just make sure to eat in the restaurant next time instead of ordering delivery!

Nicole K.

Yelp
The food is always 10/10 -- the Kung Pao Tofu and rice is some of the best I've ever had and the beef is also exceptional!!

Yelp
I love this place. I cant believe I've never written a review I'm ashamed of myself--do better! I used to go here all the time when i lived on 14th street. And i still try to order from here even now that I've moved. Actually last time i saw the lady there i stopped by after going to framebridge and she was like i haven't seen you in so long i thought you moved! And i was like yes i did otherwise i'd be here once a week I like the mapo tofu noodle soup, the mongolian chicken, the sour spicy fish with vermicelli, salt and pepper squid, and for vegetables they usually have pea shoot leaves. Also not on the menu but if you ask they will make ants on logs/trees 蚂蚁上树, which i really enjoy. We get dumplings here too that are decent as well as a sesame cold noodle situation. Staff are always so friendly and nice. Great neighborhood spot and hope they are doing okay through the pandemic!

Yelp
Overall: I love the diverse menu of this restaurant. I have been here with large and small groups, ordered food for pick-up/picnics, etc. I have tried most of the things on the menu - from the idlest, to the spiciest, from the most conventional/standard fare (friend rice), to the most exciting and textured ones (like tripe). I have not had a dish I thought was just ok - I enjoyed every meal from this restaurant. Tastiness: THE tastiest! Cleanliness/COVID prevention: I have not been to a restaurant that is as careful and strict even with pick-ups as is this place. They ask for your name/order number and bring your meals to the door. Could not be safer for all pastiest involved. Price: Fairly priced for NW DC restaurants. Delivery/pick-up turn-around: Super quick turn-around for pick-up. It was 15-20 mins after placing the order that we could pick it up on a Friday evening.

Yelp
We ate here earlier in the week and enjoyed the flavors so much that we ordered again for Christmas. Tasty and spicy. Friendly service at the takeout window.
google avatar

Ronnie T.

Yelp
I came in here during my lunch break at work, as I was craving some Chinese food. A note before I start this review for anyone reading is that 'Lunch Specials are only valid with the takeout menu' I was greeted by a kind and welcoming staff and promptly seated! The interior of this restaurant is extremely nice, I ordered the Kung Pao Chicken as my lunch special and it was beyond delicious! It was cooked as authentic as it gets, and had a nice flavor profile with hints of spiciness! I also appreciated the respectable portion sizes that this dish came with! I left this restaurant feeling very full and beyond satisfied, If You're looking for amazing Chinese food that is authentic then check this spot out by all means!!

Yelp
Ordered takeout, including Singapore rice noodles. Good and well priced. Would happily try again the next time I am in the area.

Yelp
Updating my previous review with photos -- this place is (still) my favorite place to eat in DC. I used to go here all the time, and I think I will start doing that again :) The people who run this place are the friendliest people you'll ever meet. And the Chef that cooks here has years of specialty high-end cooking experience and training, and it really shows --- the food here has a "depth" to the taste, and the "flavor" is complex and diverse. I am amazed at how even a simple fried rice from this place can be a heavenly experience! My go-to menus from this place are anything with tofu, vegetable fried rice with tofu (omg, you absolutely must add the "crispy tofu"), and also, the "Chinese broccoli" - which not many people know about, but it is super tasty and healthy :) Oh, and lastly, the food here is much healthier than in other restaurants. Which is why I especially love this place!!
google avatar

David H.

Yelp
My go-to takeout Chinese spot. Always good, always quick (typically 10-15 minutes to prepare an order), standard prices. Online ordering never works but it's easy to call in. Favorites: lo mein, general tso chicken (ask for extra spicy), mapo tofu (ask for extra spicy with ground pork), salty fried squid, spicy dry fried chicken. Great options: crab rangoons, beef chow foon, twice cooked chinese pork belly, crispy shredded beef, shui zhu niu. Other dishes we've tried (good, not great): cold sesame noodles, cumin lamb, chicken wings, dan dan noodles, sichuan style beef, pork and scallions, sesame chicken. Overall the food is very good, as are the portions and price. I haven't had anything yet that I wouldn't order again, and will continue to try more and more.
google avatar

Alice J.

Yelp
A great find! Small modest exterior, simple tables and chairs, but friendly, attentive service and wonderful, authentic food! Crispy tofu Korean style is a must (it tastes even a bit like the famous Taiwanese stinky tofu 臭豆腐). The otherwise cheesy neon lights turned out to be quite nice when viewed from inside the restaurant. Skip their crab rangoon, Korean kimchi, and tempura. Instead, order their calamari appetizer, fish (酸菜魚), and especially salt and pepper prawns (no heads no shell; perfectly tender and crispy), as well as their beancurd dishes (with pork). Korean style pickled cucumber was also very nice. If you go for lamb, do get their Mongolian lamb which is very tender, stir fried with onions and scallions (green onions) We did come back, and sit time were seated in a booth. It's comfy and shields off the noise from the big tables, but: there was a big gap between the seat and the back, and the seat was wobbly (see my photo). It's falling apart. They need to repair this.

Yelp
This is my second time here at 14th St Cafe and both times I wasn't disappointed. There's very few options when it comes to Chinese food around the 14th (downtown non Chinatown) area. Whenever I'm craving for some Chinese food that is authentic 14th St Cafe is my go to. The beef noodle soup has always been a go to for me. The broth is very flavorful and hits the spot for the price and portion. I wished the beef noodle soup had a little more numbing oil (ma-la) but that's probably more of a personal preference than anything else. Service is great both times I've been there. Our waitress was prompt and helped with choosing the Schezuan fish that I wanted (they have a beef version) and swapped it out for fish. Overall simple no-fuss cafe.
google avatar

Brea S.

Yelp
Very dissatisfied. I looked at this place on Yelp because allot of people ordered from there and sims it was great my experience was the opposite I order from Ubereats and the food was hot when it got here it it was nasty. As u can see the chicken was burnt than tossed in a sauce while super hot it made the chicken wet. Which is the opposite of how the lo mein tasted it was super dry and the shrimp tasted funny and the beef was cooked
google avatar

Michael K.

Yelp
Food's great! The price is pretty unbeatable for the downtown-ish Washington area, especially considering the quantity. They're always really quick, too! Takeout is always ready before I walk the ten minutes to pick it up. And they're also super-nice! I can't wait for in-house dining to open up after the pandemic. My favorite is the yang zhou fried rice and the Cantonese chowfoon. I also like the twice-cooked pork and the pork with garlic sauce, but I'm a wimp and can't eat those as often because of the spice versus my midwest tolerances.
google avatar

Lily H.

Yelp
Given the limited options of chinese food in the area, this is definitely one of the top choices for some more authentic cravings. Hot and Sour Soup -- a good standard metric for chinese restaurants - the hot & sour soup is good here. Seafood Combo Soup - twice the price, same size just FYI. Flavour is lighter, with a similar consistency to Egg Drop or Hot & Sour ICYW Spicy Wonton/Dumbplings -- don't order these. Soggy, excess wrappers with no meat. The chilli oil sauce is way too sweet and sticky. Not right at all, unless you like instant mush in your mouth. Szechuan Beef Noodle Soup -- noodles are acceptable texture, soup is good, not overdosed on the ma-la numbing oil and you can see the ingredients at the bottom (real soy bean & chilli flakes in there, good job!) -- meat isn't overcooked, although the bok choy is. Flavour is satisfying. Would come back to try the steamed buns and dumplings -- this place seems to be more inclined towards northern Chinese flavours (e.g. less spicy, more sweet, and strong in noodle dishes) but I haven't tried enough to say for sure.

Yelp
They have great food! I love their fried rice!! We are moving to Alexandria, we will miss you!! Also the customer service is exceptional
google avatar

Yelp
It's nice to have another Asian bistro on 14th Street in DC - seems there's a drive to refurbish and bring new businesses to this area of DC, even a new Shake Shack opened just across the street. This area also has WholeFoods and a Starbucks, and other eating establishments... In my recent takeout I ordered beef broccoli which was okay and when the server gave me an extra small pack of fried rice after an after thought comment of 'darn, I forgot to ask for fried rice instead of white..." she must have heard me so when I got to my office I was surprised to see the extra fried rice in addition to the white rice on the side of the beef broccoli. The fried rice was more than good so I was glad about that.
google avatar

Jieming L.

Yelp
Lower your expectations and you will be able to see the three stars of how I feel about this place. 1. Service is barely there with reluctance 2. Menu does not represent how they prepare the food even on the most traditional dishes, so ask a million questions before you lock down the order 3. Many things are not fresh but they are freshly prepared and taste ok 4. The bill will add 15% tip yet the credit charges will come out saying pre tip charges. Read your bills very carefully
google avatar

Richard M.

Yelp
I was overall pretty satisfied with this restaurant. The waitress we had was polite and did a good job waiting on my friend and I. I had the sesame chicken with fried rice and it was $18. The meal came with white rice and I asked for fried rice, but was not aware it cost an extra $1.75. The waitress didn't say anything about that. The sesame chicken sauce was pretty good and the chicken had a nice crunch (not soggy) and was very fresh (right from the kitchen). I thought the chicken was a bit chewey but overall good. They do carry out too and it was pouring rain but the hard working delivery guy had a tarp and I saw him trek through it. You go man.
google avatar

Erin P.

Yelp
Since it opened, this spot has been my favorite for Chinese takeaway. The food is excellent and the people are so friendly. The spicy garlic eggplant is exceptional (eggplant tender, sauce is perfect). The lo mein noodles are thinner than usual but great and not greasy at all. Their fried rice is the best I have ever had. The roast pork is excellent, as is the shrimp. My other favorite is the spicy Szechuan fish which has tender piece of white fish in a red, spicy Szechuan sauce. Also recommend the spring roll, which is not greasy but perfectly crunchy. You can't go wrong with anything on their menu. Other favorites include the Kung Pao Chicken and Cashew Chicken. It's a great place to be adventurous and try new dishes as I doubt you will get anything you don't absolutely love.

Yelp
A couple blocks north of the white house this Asian bistro is a pretty good place. The chicken lo Mein is really good $13, it was so much food I had my friend help me eat it. I got take out so I didn't get the whole experience. But I didn't wait long for my food, I went when the NFL playoffs were going on and I think everyone was at a bar watching the game. I parked across the street and it was after hours so I didn't pay to park. There is a whole foods less than a block away. It's almost right next to the shake shack, its literally right next to Trade this one gay bar. There are also hotels no more than 2 blocks away, the holiday inn and the Kimpton are a couple that are a couple blocks away.

Tiana B.

Yelp
For the first time in a while I was not disappointed in anything. I ordered beef and peppers which is pretty uncomplicated but you would be surprised! The beef was fresh, velvety, the peppers and onions were crisp and the sauce didn't taste oily or disgusting. All around, for such a small restaurant I am very pleased with my order and will order from them again.

Yelp
This is a great spot to grab lunch on 14th and P. The spicy dumplings, crab rangoon, and Tsingtao are a perfect start to the afternoon. They're also very encouraging :)

Yelp
I've been getting delivery from this place for years now. However I seem to have forgotten to review them! It's my favorite Chinese takeout place in the area. They make me what I like and the way I want. They have really good lunch specials too which I occasionally get. The string bean and pork black bean lunch special. Comes with rice and soup for less than $8. However my regular dishes I get are the sliced beef with Szechuan long peppers. Pork belly with potatoes and spinach. Chinese broccoli with garlic. This is my go to every single time. It's the best and reasonably priced. Delivery guy usually checks my order to make sure my order is correct due to my aversions. Haha!! Highly recommended!

Maybell T.

Yelp
Food is always good. Our usual is Singapore noodles, green beans, General Tsao's, and crab Rangoon are our standard order. I like that you can have all white meat or vegetarian versions of General Tsao's. Great healthy and vegetarian choices. Only complaint are the delivery guys - not reliable.

Yelp
We came around 7pm on a Friday night, and the place was oddly empty? Same with other restaurants, it's either empty or there's only a few tables... odd. Anyway, place looked decent and bathroom was clean. Service was better than your average Chinese place. She could explain how dishes were made. They have a big menu, at around $15 per platter. We got: Mongolian lamb Slices of tender lamb stir fried with green onion. Delicious! I recommend this dish. Scallops in garlic sauce Scallops in a sauce that tasted like sweet & sour, with other stuff in there and a little spicy... you can taste that the scallop was previously frozen, probably for a while... this is okay, but not my style. Bok choy with garlic Simple bok choy stir fried with garlic. Light and cleansing, perfect in conjunction with the heavier dishes we got. Rice could be better though! Asian is sad. It wasn't bad, it was just below average... It needed a little more water.

Yelp
My favorite Asian takeout on 14th street has re-opened. Still has the entire menu and lunch specials available. Love the crab rangoon, kung pao chicken, and wonton soup. COVID-19 tips: - I recommend ordering online via their delivery system: https://14thstcafedc.m988.com/order/menu.aspx - You can pay with a credit card online or over the phone. They also accept cash at the door. - They've constructed a new doorway which has a pick-up window installed with a table out front. You'll walk up to the door, tell them your order, and they'll hand it through the delivery window.

Yelp
Uber Eats recommended this place recently. It immediately became my go-to for Chinese food in the District. Both the General Tso's and Kung Pao chicken are amazing. The meat tastes fresh and I've had few to no gamey pieces. The spice was fantastic - probably on the spicier end of 'normal' but I enjoyed that. The Crab Rangoon is pretty standard - I prefer the version at Banana Leaves but this still hits the spot.

Yelp
Had to call in an order I thought I could walk up an order. Still, this spot didn't do it for me. Ordered the Ma Po Tofu - decent texture with an ok taste. There was a spice/garnish that was only on top that was textural off putting - no major flavor but feels like micro-egg shells. May or may not end up tossing if I can't get around this stuff. 2/5 Pea shoots - solid. Simple yet satisfying. I would have loved to eat these super fresh/in store but the dining area is closed. 4/5 Stir fried green beans. These were sauced heavier (and sticker) than I've had before. Usually, i have had them with more of an oil or soy sauce preparation - this was thicker and more savory which I wasn't crazy about. 3/5 Given the reviews, I expected more. I like their veggie variety and vegan options. Yet texture and seasonings did not match my expectations. This place still better for me than most DC carry out spots. But will stick to the spot up the street for the my staple Szechuan dishes.

Yelp
This restaurant is the best mix of American Chinese food with authentic Chinese dishes in the area. It's SOOOO so good. You can get the best version of lo mein while dabbling with some dishes that you'd find in the home kitchens of many Chinese families. My family is Taiwanese/Chinese and I was so excited to find home dishes like egg and tomato, or potato slices with green chilis. Their mapo tofu is awesome, and so is their green string beans. My only regret is that I didn't give it a chance earlier. I've walked by this place for YEARS and never thought to try it till this weekend.

Yelp
We love all of their Szechuan dishes here! Everything is great but our go to is the picy dry pepper chicken, mapo tofu and string beans. It's our favorite DC Chinese restaurant!
