A New Montreal Restaurant Plans to Host Private Dinners Starting This Summer | Eater Montreal

"Conceived by Lauren Kastner and Kaylee Fishman to transpose fine‑dining elements into a less formal, intimate setting, 1583 will host one private group of 8–12 diners per night (reservations starting June 3, pending coronavirus regulations) for what the pair hopes feels more like an artsy loft dinner party than a white‑tablecloth restaurant. The multi‑course tasting menu will change seasonally but initially includes items such as egg drop soup freckled with matzah chips; pierogi filled with lamb, crème fraîche, and apple; a deconstructed fondue with rapini and Manchego; and a whoopie pie made with dark chocolate, tobacco cream, and berry jelly; wine pairings and pre‑/post‑dinner cocktails in a dedicated bar area are available. The space, above bar Pamplemousse, is being renovated with a 1970s punk, do‑it‑yourself aesthetic and features contemporary Montreal art alongside vintage concert posters from the location’s previous incarnation; service is meant to be informal (arriving in sweats is acceptable) while delivering the focus and attention of a dedicated chef for the evening, at a price of $225 per head (alcohol not included)." - Valerie Silva

A group of us wanted to try something completely different, so we decided to try 1583. I’m so glad we did… It was such a unique experience!! The food was amazing, the service was exemplary, and the overall atmosphere was so chill and elegant. I’ve never had a dining experience quite like it. I can’t wait to go again!
