"NORTHEAST — The 15th Avenue Hophouse, the second location of the Hawthorne Hophouse, closed September 29. The taproom had recently changed ownership, and after four break-ins over the last year, they decided it wasn’t worth the risk. [New School]" - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Came in for the IPA challenge with a small group of friends. I was expecting a great beer selection, but the food menu was surprisingly diverse and tasty. I had the poutine and really enjoyed it. They don't skimp on the good stuff. Great place for a quick bite and beer, I highly recommend stopping by.

My husband and I love the Hop House. We're self professed beer nerds and I always get a taster tray. We recently enjoyed their blind tasting event as well! Big menu, good food. Knocked off a star because this place always has a ton of kids there. I know parents need to drink beer too, but the place is small and the kid vibe can be overwhelming. However the awesome tap selection, solid menu, and friendly service always keep us coming back.

Place is great. Good food, good drink. Bartenders are always playing great music. But the kitchen is ALWAYS playing metal that clashes horribly with the vibe of the whole place. Been an ongoing problem for more than a year. Update December 2018: it's still an issue.

Friendly fast service, wide beer selection, and consistent food. I always get quinoa salad. Limited wine selection to be expected at a beer pub. Ambiance fair. Small dining area, can be noisy. Not suitable for large groups.

How could one go wrong with 32 taps to choose from? The beer selection is out of this world! The food does leave a little bit to be desired though, portions to not justify the price. $11 for a burger and fries? But hey, they have an awesome beer selection.

So the trivia is fun but the service was very bad and I blame management. First I ordered a beer that I ended up not liking a sour beer, and asked to get something different, a pale ale. I didn't drink much of any of that first beer and they still charged me full price. Then I ordered a pale ale and they brought me another but different sour ale. Another person at my table was later brought my beer and they had given me the wrong one. Again I had to pay for this beer. The bar was completely packed and I saw only 2 people covering the floor. How is that enough? The trivia was fun but if management can't staff properly they should just have BYOB because it's unfair to charge people for wrong orders and poor service. Tisk tisk. I would return for the trivia but I would not trust ordering anything from the bar. Not cool at all.

A hidden gem in a NE residential neighborhood One of two locations (the other is on Hawthorne), but I like this one best. A good, frequently changing tap list combined with some better-than-pub-grub dining choices makes this one of my fave places for a patio (well, more like the sidewalk facing the strip mall's parking) brew and meal.

A solid taproom. The beer is wide so there is never a dearth of selection. The food is solid and will leave you satisfied. They're tap selection leans towards IPA's which might dissuade some, but if you like hoppy beers a visit here should satisfy you.
