"While you’d think the main appeal at a place called 1608 Crafthouse would be the beer, the food is actually the star at this gastropub. You’ll find plenty of locals, beer enthusiasts, and tourists passing through, and they’re all probably eyeing the same tray of poutine or burgers coming out of the kitchen. The bacon burger will leave you day-dreaming about it for weeks, with white cheddar melted into the burger and bacon chunks seared into the patty, while their riff on poutine comes with oxtail chili instead of gravy and is served with a runny egg right on top. Come here hungry, preferably after a day of relaxing on the beach or kayaking along the bay.  " - anne cruz

Went in with high hopes of good food left not even eating half of my meal everything was super bland! If your looking for seasoned food, GO ELSEWHERE. I was super excited for the Lamberger. It looked great but tasted like retirement home food even with salt, pepper, and ketchup, added it still didn’t help. They don’t have any regular dressings. They’re all house made & not actually good so couldnt even eat my salad. My friend tasted everything i had also & agreed his poutine was fine. The best part of my entire meal was the skillet cookie dessert. It was amazing. Service was OK. They were just moving kind of slow for them to not be busy when we went and the atmosphere sheesh its literally like a dungeon inside super dark! Luckily they discounted my food since i left basically everything on my plate so customer service was good but Iwon’t be back except for that cookie really.

Google
One hell of a spot to eat, hands down the best burg I have had in the state of Virginia. Cooked to perfection. Smoky. Juicy. Whispers a sweet serenade to my southern taste buds. Salad was on the shareables menu? No way, no how am I sharing that thing with anybody lol. Sweet tea was nice, which speaks volumes more than it might seem. Most places here apparently fall short when it comes to something like a simple cup of tea. This place had other ideas, which is a welcome change of pace. I can't really think of a single complaint when it comes to this place. Food was great, staff was great, atmosphere was great. Need I say more?

Run don’t walk to this hidden little gem. The menu has something for everyone, with a wonderful selection of beers. I had the shrimp and grits and I may or may not have licked the bowl, yummmm

Friendly service for sure. A definite 5. Ambiance could use some help, the lighting is too low that it feels stuffy and dated. There aren’t a lot of wall decor. Definitely a 2 for ambiance. We ordered chili with pork rinds. Must have been an off day since the pork rinds were under seasoned and not fresh from fryer temperature hot. It made the rinds tough and not crispy. We also ordered lamb burger. Seems that there is some vinegary taste to it. Not a huge fan. The tangy chicken was the best. Very well seasoned, came with sunny side egg and gravy. Food was a solid 3.

Google
Great experience! The food was delicious and looked all/mostly homemade. The wait was a tiny bit longer than I'm used to, but the food totally evened that out. I got the pork burger, which was so good! And to finish we got a grilled PB&J for dessert. If you like PB&J's, this dessert is for you!! Hope to visit again someday:)

Google
So the lamb burger was fantastic. Nothing bland about it (someone mentioned it was ultra bland maybe they had COVID or something). The bun was toasted to perfection and have the burger a crunch but the insides of the bun was still soft. Cooked perfectly. Sort of a cole slaw style topping was seasoned with some sort of aeoli. Fantastic burger

We ate lunch here as a family of four, plus our dog (so we sat outside). Service was friendly and helpful. We all enjoyed our food, and I was told my wife’s sandwich was one of the best she ever had, and my daughter thought the same of her chicken fingers. The burger was excellent, still juicy and pink on the inside as I asked for. The fries were great. Good beer selection.

Google
Found this establishment when looking for a place to eat after a visit to the botanical gardens. It was also necessary to have a dog friendly place as we had our pooch. We were able to sit outside with our dog and while the seating over looks the parking lot it is comfortably set back from the main road. The food was excellent! I had the fried chicken and french toast (rather decadent with bacon and peanut butter) and my wife had the pork and mac n cheese (they smoke the pork on the premises). Service was very attentive and we never felt rushed even though we arrived an hour before closing. We will be back.

Yelp
We loved our service here! The waitress was incredibly helpfulC friendly and patient with our larger party. She was able to recommend items from the brunch menu, she gave us her favorite foods to try and she was great at describing the foods so we could make a good decision. The ambiance is nicely decorated to match the vibe of the menu and its name being a craft house. The art in the bathroom was not just art but an ode to food information as it was packed with facts and beautiful art. We had an about a 30 min wait but it went fast and the food and service did not disappoint. Everyone enjoyed their foods, we tried a lot of items from the brunch menu simply because we know this place will switch the options up. Mimosa flight: favorite was the pineapple, least favorite was the orange juice. The Big A** Pretzel was like a bagel consistency and even had like everything bagel seasoning. The cheese sauce served with it was incredibly delicious. The Bone Marrow was excellent- the toasted bread was perfect and the Rockefeller oysters were cooked perfectly. Some of the other items not pictured were more from the brunch menu and we all agree it was a 5/5 experience and would love to return when in town.

Yelp
We sat outside Monday night to enjoy the fall weather. We were greeted by our server, who was very knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered 2 bourbon honey cocktails. They were very strong but good. For our appetizer, we had a dozen oysters and luckily the chef accommodated our request of having them steamed. The basil mignonette paired perfectly with them. For our entrées, we both had the 14oz Ribeye with the roasted bone marrow. Let me tell you, this was the best taste experience I've had in my entire life. The ribeye was cooked perfectly. The blu cheese really took it to the next level. I highly recommend you try this establishment.

Yelp
They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoor seating is perfect when the weather is warm outside. The smoothie sour was one of my favorites, the drink itself was very thick and since it was peach and apricot flavored, it was perfect for the fall/winter time. There were other smoothie sours too. Highly recommend if you want something fruity to drink. My friends and I shared a lot of appetizers and ordered one main dish. The bone marrow was really good with the toast but, they used a very thin bone, so there wasn't a lot of collagen to spread on the toast. The oysters were very fresh and the cocktail sauce was fairly good too. The fried pork rind was too salty in my opinion and the sweet potato was too bland. There wasn't enough sauce with the sweet potato to make up for it. The scallop dish was very good and felt fresh with all the vegetables in it. If you don't need a big portion of a meal, then I highly recommend the scallops. They have separate parking here and plenty of spots.

Yelp
Best dish I've ordered here although I've been here twice now and both times were amazing. I NEVER clear my plate but me and my fellow book club member ate this dish up (she ordered her own). Everything from the tender and fresh tuna to the crispy yet buttery pilaf was full of flavor and amazing. Food is 10/10! Ok... now for ambiance... What the heck is going on with the music lol! It's such a weird vibe and if you are going to have people sit in wooden chairs then at least have cushions. Very dark in there but not like cute/fancy/dark it's more like pub with no ambience lighting? Idk all 3 things seem like an easy switch! I would love to come back with our book club if these changes were made. Service was amazing that was next to as good as the food! VERY hard to beat the food

Yelp
You're probably going to get tired of me praising this restaurant. But last night was amazing. My sister is visiting from Alabama. I took her and a friend who had never dined at 1608 Crafthouse. Tuesday was a great night to go since we immediately were seated. Service was phenomenal. The ambiance was quiet & pleasant with background music playing at the perfect volume level. We began with drinks. My sister, who is extremely particular with wines, immediately approved of the first Sauvignon Blanc she was brought to taste. She later proclaimed Threadcount Quilt the best Sauvignon Blanc she had ever tasted, which was quite the compliment. My friend has the Moscato, which she deemed very good. On my quest to achieve a better Bourbon Splash from the restaurant, I asked that there be no lime juice. It still came back with that tart taste, which shouldn't be in that cocktail recipe. When I told the server she indicated that the bartender had left out the lime juice but there still was lemon juice included. For a second cocktail I ordered it with no lime or lemon juice & it was perfect. Serving the drink over ice cubes rather than crushed ice, which many restaurants use, was perfect. As an appetizer to share I chose the wonderful Charred Brussel Spouts and Shishito Peppers. The beautifully presented dish also includes banana peppers, andouille, roasted garlic, carrot purée with a chipotle aioli. My skeptical table mates proclaimed it an immediate hit, my sister saying she could have eaten the dish as an entree. Both indicated the Brussels Sprouts were the best they've ever tasted. My choice of the Dry Pack Scallops over Carrot Purée & Vegetable Couscous was perfect as always. I must eventually branch out & try another entree. But it's hard to pass on perfection. My friend chose the Beef Wrap with a Simple Salad replacing the fries. It looked great as she said it was. My sister was going to be the tough one to please. She had been craving beef, which I don't serve at home. But she had lots of questions & requests for the server. Asking about the beef in the Bacon & Cheese Burger we learned that it was farm to table. The bacon was not served on the burger. Rather the patty was encrusted & cooked with crumbled bacon. Her request to have it served without a bum & topped with an egg & avocado were met. The cheese, normally placed inside a patty served without a bun was omitted per her request. The fries were replaced by broccolini. The perfectly prepared dish was deemed by her as the best she had ever tasted, which was high praise from someone who expects perfection, I'm not a beef eater. But after seeing the preparation of my sister's beef patty, I'm now anxious to try my own bun-less beef prepared to my taste. New current menu photos were scanned & converted to a picture format so you, the reader of my review, can see the wonderful offerings. Understand that they are very amenable to customizing many to your taste. Last night was a wonderful dining experience.

Yelp
Grat food relaxing atmosphere. Love the pickles and their version of poutine. Great selections of beer.

Yelp
It all appeared to be set for a smooth night. In large part it was. However, service was not overall excellent. It was a large party but they the establishment was aware due a reservation was arranged. The evening was cold the large party table was set up dead center at the door which made it uncomfortable every time someone walked in. We asked kindly to rearranged but the establishment refused. The food was ok drink were excellent. The company made the night since the establishment left a bit to be desired.

Yelp
Popped in here as a plan B for brunch. Wow, this place just became future plan A! They have a great menu with seasonal rotations, locally crafted specials and beer on tap! Enjoy!

Yelp
Hidden in the corner of a strip mall like area close to the beach, this restaurant/bar may not seem that lively from the outside during the colder months of the year, but once you walk inside it is bustling with life. The servers were all very welcoming and immediately got us to our table and seated with a menu. The menu was very eclectic and had a lot of different varieties to choose from. I was able to try to wings, pretzel, and asiago chicken pasta. Each one was very unique and had amazing flavors! My favorite was definitely the asiago chicken I just wish the portion was more for the price of it. I definitely also enjoyed the pretzel and it lived up to it's name of how big it was as you can see in the picture! I also loved the seasoning that tasted like everything bagel on it! The wings were also really good I just wish they were crispier. I also liked that they had crayons and a drawing sheet to doodle on as we waited for the food! Definitely will be coming back to try more food from their menu!

Yelp
Finally made it back here. It has been a looooong time since the last time I visited 1608 and I am glad I came back. For appetizer we had the "Nashville style chicken thighs" they were two huge chicken thighs that look more like chicken breast, they were huge! I think that would be a meal on its own, maybe add some fries and you are good to go. I had a beer "sip of sunshine" and it was refreshing and I think I could actually taste a little bit of sunshine in there. It was great. My meal was "blackened chicken sandwich" once it arrived it was a double decker sandwich, chicken was juicy and seasoned perfectly. The fires were a little on the the overcooked/crunchy/dry side but they were not bad. I specially dislike when most of the fires are just the crumbs, like they are the last at the bottom of the bag :( For dessert I had the bread pudding... that was disappointing, it was more like a French toast with ice cream on top. And I LOVE bread pudding but this was not bread pudding. It was ok for a French toast but definitely disappointed. Service was adequate and the ambiance was relax and cozy. Definitely a good place to hang out with friends and family. Definitely coming back and would recommend to anyone.

Yelp
I love the poutine, it's my very favorite thing from them. The shrimp n grits are my 2nd favorite thing to order. Saturday evenings are quite busy and sometimes the food isn't as great as during the slow times. They have a military discount which is nice.

Yelp
1608 Crafthouse has the best menu in Coastal Virginia in my opinion, and it's not close. What kind of menu you ask? 1608 Crafthouse is the best seafood restaurant in the region. There is almost always a fish of the week on the menu. The fish varies greatly from local tuna, black sea bass, mackerel, etc. Most often the fish is broken down by the staff into filets and pan roasted with a unique and creative pan sauce and vegetable accompaniment. Occasionally they offer a whole roasted fish, and when they do, don't miss it, it will be amazing. The same is true for in-season softshell crabs in the spring. 1608 Crafthouse is also the best steakhouse in Coastal Virginia. The steak on their menu is always perfectly cooked to the ordered temp, tender, delicious, and served with a roasted marrow bone alongside. Spreading the marrow on the steak is pure deliciousness. Oh. and its not ala cart as you would expect from a high-end steakhouse. It's also served with the best fries in the area, 1608's truffle fries. They usually offer a ribeye or a New York Strip, and on occasion prime steak option. There is also a wonderful steak sandwich on the menu, usually made with roasted tri tip. The bread (always made in house) and the toppings change almost every week. One week a take on a Cuban sandwich, another week on a Bahn mi, while other week it could be a traditional with sautéed onions and mushrooms. I think you get the idea. They also serve amazing burgers. Oh, one more thing, 1608 Crafthouse isn't just a steakhouse. 1608 Crafthouse is the best pizzeria in Virginia. To this, late of New York, pizza snob, there is no better way to judge a pizzeria than their pizza margherita. In this case, the thin crust (made in house, of course), is thin with the perfect chewiness and char from high heat. They use only DOP San Marzano tomatoes for the sauce, and with fresh mozzarella and basil, it is the perfect pie. It's not the only offering, however. Their pepperoni pizza is also consistently excellent, with tasty pepperoni perfectly crispy at the edges. 1608 Crafthouse happens to be the best brunch restaurant in Coastal Virginia. The brunch menu has new items every week, as well as changing staples. The chicken and French toast is playful take on chicken and waffles and it really works. On whichever dish you order for brunch, you can count on perfectly cooked eggs. The mimosas tend to vary with the seasonal fruit available. One remarkable one of note is the cantaloupe (juiced in house) mimosa. The service at 1608 Crafthouse is as remarkable as their food. The servers, bartenders, and hosts are all wonderful ambassadors for the kitchen. The staff is knowledgeable about the menu, happy to answer questions, and do a great job with recommendations. The staff are clearly invested in the success of the business; they show pride and work incredibly well as a team. You can observe the staff helping each other out throughout service to make sure the customers are well taken care of. The service is friendly, attentive, and make you feel welcome and at home. 1608 Crafthouse, as the name implies, takes craft beer very seriously. They offer a constantly evolving beer menu that includes some of the best beer made in the country, with a particular focus on Virginia breweries. There are always six draft beers on the menu, with offering of multiple styles. There's always at least one locally made beer. Their specialty is IPAs, and there are normally 2-3 on tap to choose from. There is always other styles available too. If there's nothing to your liking on tap, there is an extensive can menu from every possible style. The can menu is also constantly evolving. Somehow, they land some of the most sought-after beers from across the country. Many of my favorite beers and breweries were discovered after trying them for the first time here. Their house specialty cocktails are creative and delicious. Some are interesting twists on classics, like an old fashioned, cosmo, margarita, or martini. Some are totally original, as interesting as they are delicious. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable. The space is conducive to all kinds of customers, couples on dates, family meals, solo diners, big groups of family or co-workers can all be accommodated in a comfortable way in their very flexible space. As you can see 1608 Crafthouse is not easy to categorize, and that's a wonderful thing. One consistent strand you can see throughout the menu is the creativity and talent of Chef and Owner Kevin Sharkey. Everything on the menu is prepared fresh in their scratch kitchen with talent and care. They use the best, freshest, and whenever possible, local ingredients to create the most attractive menu in Coastal Virginia. The drive to deliver the tastiest and most original food, and to be able to do at fair prices is admirable and remarkable.

Yelp
This place is just unique and every time I'm in the area, I definitely stop by!! Lamb burger is amazing

Yelp
2nd visit Equally delicious!! I wish I lived closer, I'd be a regular. This Cioppino chowder easily makes my top 10 of all chowders/soups I've ever tasted. Literally wouldn't change a thing flavor wise. I'm not a fan of soaked breads (my family happily gobbled it up on my behalf) I'd ask for the focaccia on the side next time, and yes, there will be a next time.

Starla W.

Yelp
Excellent meal at 1608! The charcuterie board was awesome and had a great variety of snacks on it. Grilled cheese was one of the best I've ever had. Would definitely come back again!

Trinn G.

Yelp
Went on a Tuesday afternoon. Was fairly busy, the waiter was sweet but could tell she had alot of guest and others was helping her with her table. The food was good and cooked to our request. The burgers DO NOT come with fries and we didn't know, once the plate came with a side salad. The steak was better than the burger. The appetizer was order was a perfect balance of crunch and creaminess. Beers were great and would return. The atmosphere of the place was nice and quiet. Very good for families and date night.

Victoria W.

Yelp
The outdoor patio was heated and nice for having a dog and the drink choices are always good the food was okay and the service wasn't as good as it has been in the past

Yelp
We decided to try 1608 Crafthouse for a later dinner (8pm) on a Saturday night. The staff were all friendly and I appreciated that our waters were always filled! Kyle was our server and gave some great recommendations when we asked. The food took a little longer than expected to come out, but it was PIPING hot and each dish was delicious- well worth the extra time to wait! We'll be back for more of the dishes we got: steak sandwich and friend green tomato BLT. Highly recommend!

Nikki C.

Yelp
After strolling around on a Sunday night, we ended up at 1608 Crafthouse. For an appetizer, we got Nashville style chicken thighs. I laughed with my husband because I thought it was an odd appetizer to pick but it was pretty good. It's definitely big enough to be a meal on its own. For my meal, I got the pork burger. Along with the patty, it also had bacon and sausage. Yummy. I thought the patty itself was smaller than I would have wanted but it was good nevertheless.

Guy C.

Yelp
This is a neighborhood joint in Thoroughgood with a diverse menu and excellent beer selection. Servers are good but a little slow sometimes. Burgers are very good and apps are too but prices are a little high. Still worth going too though.

Jorgi S.

Yelp
okay so I enjoyed this so much the first time I went back the next night. Got the shrimp and grits - the sauce had just a hint of heat which was really pleasant and offset the sweetness of the shrimp just right. The blueberry cider was a surprise - didn't have the blackberry I had the night before. My experience with blueberry drinks was sketchy but I thought I'd give it a try. I was so glad I did - crisp and sweet but not overly so. The servers didn't mind when we walked in with a big party and then joined up with another group who showed up in my recommendation, and we appreciated it. All in all I'd recommend this place to anyone who asked.

Rebecca W.

Yelp
Food was fantastic, service was very friendly and the beer selection was on point. The indoor and outdoor seating was clean and cute, given that this place is tucked into the corner of a strip mall. The menu changes often, and given that everything we ordered was delicious, we will be back! Add this to your rotation!

Dan P.

Yelp
Not sure what happened. I walked in expecting to have a couple different microbrews and the Shrimp and Grits. As I walked in there were two female waitress and a male waiter standing against the wall and they nodded at me as I walked in. I walked to the bar intending to sit there but it was full, so I sat at a table right in front of the 3 servers. The male walked away and greeted a couple who walked in. The two females just stood there. I sat for maybe, definitely over 5 minutes. No one came came to me. The 2 females just standing there. As I got up to leave, no one asked if I was leaving or why. Just stood there watching me walk out. The whole thing was very strange. I went to The Rustic Spoon about half mile away and had an excellent meat loaf, Irish Red Ale and an after dinner Smokey Old Fashioned.

Yelp
I've been here for brunch twice . Love it here have not had a bad meal yet. Huge portions , fantastic beer and whiskey menu. This is the spot when k get visitors to take them for Sunday brunch. Fantastic Bloody Marys

Yelp
10/10 5 stars! This restaurant was so amazing! It's in a corner of a shopping center. You wouldn't really pay it much mind if you didn't plan on going there. Shoutout to Emily. The best server I've had in a long time, in any establishment. We decided to come for brunch and it was a great time. I got the shrimp and grits, i didn't take a picture only because I am picky and i got everything separate. However, the grits were amazing! My sisters said their food was great, which are pictured here. The dessert!!! Omg the skillet cookie was so great. They also have other gelato options to include Ube! You really can't even find ube many places. The restaurant wasn't packed at all, which was shocking because the food is so good. It's fairly spacious with a bar area and also a restaurant side. It gives me like a family restaurant vibe.

Stacy W.

Yelp
I came here with a large group for a holiday brunch. There were 16 of us and our server was amazing. We sat at two tables and everything went off without a hitch. I got several blueberry mosas, the oysters and bone marrow, and a margherita pizza. The blueberry mimosas were hit or miss, honestly. Sometimes it tasted and looked like it was straight champagne and then other times looked like it had blueberry in there. I like champagne so I don't care. Either way is fine with me. The oysters and bone marrow were soooo gooood. Omg amazing. I do wish they had given me a spoon though, but I made use of the bread they gave me and sopped up everything. The oysters were delicious too and tasted like old bay. The pizza was delicious. It had a nice thin crust and was seasoned perfectly. I would definitely order everything again. The people around me got the big ass pretzel, steak and eggs, and the chicken and French toast. I had a bite of the last one and it was delicious. I loved the peanut butter in there as well as the cinnamon. Definitely amazing. The place was much smaller than I had expected. We had no issues whatsoever and would love to come back. I already need more bone marrow. It was so good!

Yelp
Thank you my fellow Yelpers for your amazing reviews of this spot tucked in Norfolk VA and thanks to my Sister for suggesting we try for a midday Sunday brunch! Service: 5/5, our waiter made some awesome suggestions and pointed out some of the dishes 1608 is known for! He kept a good pace in presenting the appetizers and our entrees, just providing an overall excellent experience! Ambiance: 3/5 quaint local spot with adequate seating indoors and outdoors. Clean. Food: overall 4/5, my sisters and daughter ordered apps consisting of mussels and fries which were rated at 3/5 as they lacked a some flavor but the broth plus combined with the andouille and garlic with a piece of fry made the difference. The fries being hand cut were top tier(seasoned and crispy...perfect fry) 5/5! The squash blossom was my favorite, rated among the table as a 3.5/5 in that the delicate tempura batter paired with pimento stuffed flower was different but pretty good to me. My least favorite was the "charred" sprouts, lacked charring (appeared slightly raw) and lacked flavor. The shishitos were pretty flavorful and the saving grace was again the andouille and garlic all together even with the under roasted sprouts, yum! For entrees, I opted for the blackened chicken sandwich with fries, it's described as blackened chicken nestled between rustic white bread with Taylor ham and pimento cheese. The description sounded amazing but I was bit underwhelmed in that the bread was a bit more toasted than I'd prefer but it was of good quality! The chicken didn't give blackened as it missed a few marks on flavor but otherwise it was a decent sandwich 3/5. I was gunning for their ribs but they were out. My sisters ordered the blackened flounder and scallops overall 3/5 again a few misses on flavor, one had the entree over the veggie fried rice while the other opted for grits which for her was a bit underwhelming. The portions of fish which was very meaty and the scallops were as well. The star of the show was my daughters ribeye which she ordered medium rare (was more medium) which she stated was seasoned to perfection and the added blue cheese butter knocked it out of the park and she's not a blue cheese kinda girl! It was accompanied with bone marrow which was so buttery and delicious over the bed of fries which were still well seasoned and crispy, 5/5! If you are in the area please go, our waiter stated they were also known for their bacon cheeseburger, that is definitely next on the list!

Yelp
Great service and even better food! This was our first time visiting 1608 Crafthouse and can say for sure it won't be out last! Honestly did not check out the inside but the outdoor seating was great.

Yelp
My husband and I saw this place on Instagram, saw the food photos, and read a few reviews-- it seemed worth a try! Everything looked so good not everything that shimmers is gold my friends. So let's start with the good-- this place was very laid back! It was a family friendly atmosphere (especially those with littles) and everyone was really nice. They have an adult and kids menu and special beer menu. And the appetizers we had were really good, the chicken wings and tempura squash. But the disappointment hit once we got our actual entrees. Everything was just mediocre and not what we expected at all. - The pork burger was dry. Like the meat was over cooked and the sandwich in itself was dry. - The Mac in cheese (that we paid the upcharge for) wasn't really that cheesy. - The kids menu pizza looked good but when you picked it up, it fell apart. The pizza crust wasn't cooked long enough so it was a flimsy mess. Sadly it was nothing memorable about his place and we will definitely not go back

Yelp
Burger - 3/5 ; bun was like eating a slab of stone, but the flavor of the meat was tasty. And the pickles were yummy. The fries were a 2/5; too dark and no space for ketchup on the tray Beer - coastal sunshine (from a Wisconsin brewery); delicious Skillet cookie - 3/5; the white chocolate chips are a no-no for a skillet cookie in my book. You want ooey gooey goodness in these. Please switch this to an actual chocolate chip cookie Service - 5/5; that's the best thing about this place. Ambiance - they can do more. It's pretty lame. The last thing I'll mention is the booths. Please switch these to something sturdy where you can't feel every single move of the person sharing the opposite booth behind you. I felt like I was getting knocked around my entire meal because the lady behind me kept pushing on her booth seat. During a date night out, this is just not enjoyable. This place has the staff, now they just need to improve the food a bit and the interior.

Yelp
My girlfriends and I frequent this spot for brunch. The food is absolutely delicious. The chef really knows what he is doing let me tell ya! Always looking forward to our next trip! Order the blackberry lemon martini!!!

Yelp
The lamb burger exceeded my expectations. It was flavorful and delicious! The beer selection was excellent.

Yelp
Service and food are absolutely on point! Our waitress was so kind and friendly. We ordered the pretzel, lamb burger, pork burger, and cookie skillet! Everything was super flavorful!

Yelp
The food is very good, the selection of beverages was also very good, unfortunately they were terribly understaffed. The delays in service was very annoying. The employees were working extremely hard, but you can only do so much.

Yelp
We are officially naming ourselves regulars at 1608 Crafthouse after just one visit. We came on a Tuesday evening during happy hour and sat with Matt at the bar. I found this gem on Yelp, noticing that it was very close to where we moved in, and immediately loved their menu. They offer both indoor and outdoor dining. The outdoor seating is much cuter, but we chose to sit inside at the bar-top, since it's our personal preference, especially when we're coming somewhere new. During happy hour, they offer a few bucks off their local beers, so we tried a few. In addition, we tried 2 of the $5 happy hour food options; the oysters and the half order of poutine. The oysters were great, especially with the local hot sauces or the local bloody mary mix. We enjoyed the poutine, although it seemed much more like chili cheese fries than poutine. For our entree, we shared the fried green tomato BLT, which was seriously one of the best sandwiches that I have ever had... EVER. I highly recommend you try it. There were many other menu items that intrigued us, but we wanted to save room for dessert, so only shared one. In the future, the lamb and mushroom burger will be calling my name. Dessert; the bread pudding was perfection. Not too large of a portion, but great for two people to share. Overall, we had an incredible dinner, which was enhanced even more by the great service we received. See you soon, 1608.

Yelp
Walked in and seated ourselves immediately - server came quick and provided us waters upon arrival. You HAVE to get the "big ass pretzel" as an appetizer for the table - SO GOOD. Did not try their drinks this time around, but will make a stop next time I'm in VB!

Yelp
This is a hidden gem. The food is to die for, but the little run down bar didn't lend to the dynamic chef that they are hiding in the back. I would try it again. Great service at the bar. I guess it burned down at one point in time. You would think a rebuild would be a little more fancy. Like the great food doesn't match the environment.

Yelp
Enjoyed my first, and certainly not my last, experience at 1608 Crafthouse. I stopped by on a rainy Memorial Day weekend and I'm happy I did. They get bonus points for having a brunch menu so late on a Saturday. Every staff member I came across was super polite. From the host to our server and the gentleman that brought our food out and showed me where the restrooms were. I certainly felt welcomed dining here. They had a special Memorial Day weekend menu so I'm not sure if these food items are on their regular menu as well. We ordered the breakfast sandwich, lamb gyro, brussel sprouts and mimosa flight. The lamb was cooked for perfection, not drying at all, though it was a little difficult to eat because of how big it was lol. Their fries were my absolute fav- fried and seasoned well. My only gripe here is that the lighting is so dim, I just want to fall asleep after eating all that yummy food lol but I guess this is a good problem to have!

Yelp
Last night was the first time I ever went to this restaurant and went with my colleagues after work. The atmosphere was welcoming and pleasant, the waitress was cheerful, nice and attentive. The food was great, one of my colleague had the pepperoni pizza and my other colleague had the grilled cheese and tomato soup, and myself I had the fried green tomato BLT on cranberry bread. It was delicious and I'm sure I will get it again.

Yelp
Date night! We were blessed with beautiful weather and the chance to try a new spot this past Friday evening. A Yelp search led me to 1608 Crafthouse. We arrived around 6:30 and there was ample seating indoors with a few outdoor tables and we opted for outside seating. The restaurant is easy to access. There is some construction in the parking lot, but plenty of parking was available as the other local businesses had closed for the day. We sat and were greeted immediately. Our server, Olivia I believe, was wonderful through our visit! They offer a HUGE beer menu with several options in each variety, but very few on tap. I selected a canned beer, which was served with a glass. Hubby had a draft. I'm all for a place with a huge beer list, even if most are bottled or canned as it gives me the chance to try something new. The menu is fairly limited, but they offer a good variety of seafood, beef, chicken and vegetarian entrees and apps. We were told right away that they were out of octopus ceviche, but everything else was available. We opted for a bacon cheeseburger with fries and the speckled trout. Neither of us were impressed with the food. Hubby's burger had an odd, almost paper-like sheet of blackened something. Underneath it were small pieces of undercooked bacon. When we asked, our server told us it was the cheese. Never in my life have I seen anything like that unless it was burnt paper. Hubby ended up taking it off and enjoying the rest of the burger. Their hand-cut fries were delicious! My trout was cooked perfectly, but the tomato "sauce" on the bottom of the plate was very reminiscent of Campbell's tomato soup. The potatoes were cooked fine as was the broccolini, but the entire dish lacked seasoning. There were plenty of other menu selections that sound tasty, so I certainly intend to return and try something else. The service was wonderful and also worth a return visit!

Yelp
excellent food. We felt the atmosphere didn't match the quality of the food. very casual. They could step it up just a bit with atmosphere to match the amazing food that came out. we got the shrimp and grits, braised pork shoulder and grilled peanut butter and jelly with ice cream for dessert. excellent

Yelp
Food were creatively prepared. I was so i terested with the small grass-like leaves put on our food as presentation. Local is better.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious every time. Love coming here and finding out the new additions to the menu. From start to finish, drinks - apps- mains - dessert - all so good! Hunter is great, very attentive. Can't wait to try more things in the future!

Yelp
I go to this place every time I'm in the area. Great selection of beers, knowledgeable and friendly bartenders and I would eat this poutine dish 365 nights in a r

Yelp
Beat burger ever! The one you think about later because it was so good. Great server!

Yelp
How have I not reviewed 1608 Crafthouse yet?? One of my fave places in Virginia Beach... Always get the poutine! The pork rinds are great, too. They make my favorite whiskey sour in all of 757. They do brunch on weekends. Most recently, I had the spam and egg burrito. Loved it! When it's not brunch time, I usually order whatever their seafood special is, or I'll get the fish dish from the regular menu. Also, one of the few restaurants where we'll order dessert because we know it's all homemade.
