The Best Restaurants on Nantucket | Eater Boston

"167 Raw Nantucket has three different outposts: a fish market, a food truck, and a raw bar at Cisco Brewers. The food truck is a popular spot to grab fish tacos, lobster rolls, and fried oyster baskets. At the fish market, snag a daily fresh catch to cook at home or browse their selection of wine, beer, and gourmet goods for snacking." - Celina Colby

I just grabbed a lobster roll for $37 and took it home to devour. The potato roll was butter toasted & perfect. The lobster was large chunky & lightly mayoed...however, the lobster was under seasoned and could have used considerably more salt & pepper. Chives would've been nice too ($37, right?). In any case, Nantucket isn't known for great deals but, for the island, this is one of the better lobster rolls deals available (no. I'm not joking!)

Google
What a cute little place! The tuna burger was the best I’ve ever had and I loved the little patio area where I got to read and enjoy some wine on this beautiful Memorial Day! The girls at the truck were so sweet and Michael inside the shop was so helpful, thank you 167 raw for a great first time experience! Highly recommend to anyone in the area or passing by :)

Google
Lobster roll is really good. Tuna burger okay. But fried oysters were NOT good. The oysters themselves would have been fine but they were smothered—and I mean smothered—in soy sauce and spicy mayo, basically turning them into General Tso’s.

Google
I had this lobster roll every day I was on island. Pricey but it’s without question the best lobster roll on Nantucket! Loved the fish tacos (spicy!) and also got the fried fish sandwich which was an incredibly generous portion of cod in a very light breading. Beautiful garden to enjoy it all in!

Debi Rieflin

Google
Always fresh, the fish is insane! So many tasty house made sides and sauces, AND key lime pie - take it all home & feast or nosh in the market garden on favorites from the truck…tacos, tuna burger, guac & lobster roll are hard to beat!

Chef Chris Paul

Google
So checked with the locals to see on the best lobster roll and they recommended this place. Customer service was awesome the gentleman that took my order had such a great personality. Loved the garden setting as I ate my meal would have liked french fries especially for the price that I paid for the lobster roll. I like character in my food it was fresh tasty it didn't have anything uniquely different than any other lobster roll I have eaten. I may not go back for the lobster roll but I will go back to try other items.

Google
Their fish sandwich is amazing and I don’t even like cod. Their shrimp cocktail is delicious. And the harpooned swordfish is the freshest I’ve ever seen.

Google
So we walked almost 3 miles to this lobster take out and were disappointed. After waiting 30 minutes to sit at a pic nick table we recied for 40 dollars the smallest lobster roll we’ve ever had. Taste was good but terrible value for a place far away. Not worth it

Yelp
I will start off by saying the meats from the market and the food from the 167 Raw truck is always amazing. Any time I bring guest to the house, there is a stop to 167 Raw Nantucket for lunch. The lobster roll is excellent, my guest enjoyed the Poke Bowl and Tuna Burger. Also, two thumbs up for the Coke in glass bottles! The only thing I would tell them, is that they need to ask people getting Oyster Basket if they want the sauces. I enjoy it, but the preference among 'enthusiasts' of fried oysters, is not to sully them will sauce. I'd rather have one more oyster rather than they two sauces and tiny peppers smothering them.

Yelp
Fresh meaty lobster rolls. Very good tuna poke and guacamole with fresh crispy chips. Juicy, slightly spice shrimp tacos. Great cookies from an island bakery. All from a truck with a pretty short wait. There's outdoor seating. Parking in the lot right next to the truck can be limited and a bit hectic; theres another slightly larger lot next door. Theres also a small gourmet shop and fresh seafood counter on the main parking lot. Grab a sandwich or taco and head out to Cisco to watch the windsurfers and waves and relax. You can't go wrong.

Yelp
Food was delicious. We placed a pickup order to take to the beach. Everything was great! There is an area for seating if you want to eat there. The market is cute!

Yelp
Delicious food! Had. The fried fish sandwich. ($22) was really delicious. It came with a fried fish patty, a vegetable slaw, pickle slice and kettle chips. I also tried the chips and guacamole and it was wonderful. The service was prompt and the ladies were very nice. There is outdoor seating with umbrellas. Lovely place I overall. Family loved the lobster rolls.

Britt M.

Yelp
Great spot! So glad we found this cute place. Super dog friendly. Had some of the best fish tacos we've ever had here and the ceviche was also wonderful. Can't wait to go back on our next trip.

Yelp
Tasty. Second visit here. Correct grilled Frankfurter roll and mound of lobster meat, 6oz for sure, chunks. Notable fresh lemon flavor shines through with nothing there that doesn't belong. Chips and some pickled onions were nice sides. They also sell beer which isn't the norm at the other lobster roll places. Winner between Sayles and Walters for flavor, Walters wins for value.

Yelp
Best. Lobster. Roll. I've ever had!!! I went here to just split a lobster roll with my friend but then decided to then purchase my own- it was that good! The bread is buttery and soft and the lobster is fresh & perfect. It's pretty expensive but worth every bite. Also, the backyard area is super cute and made for a nice meal outside!

Yelp
Updating this review after a few more meals and stops for fresh seafood. 1. There are raw oysters now (in July). The raw bar only offers one kind: Pocomo Meadow oysters, locally farmed near the mouth of Polpis Harbor (https://www.hangtenrawbar.com/our-farm), but they are fabulous! They are sweeter and less briny than many East Coast oysters, and very meaty. They've have come well shucked on each occasion I've tried. 2. Smoked scallops are ETHERIALLY good. Go inside the market for these. I frankly don't think I've ever eaten anything more delicious on Nantucket... 3. Halibut was about $36 / lb when we ordered, exceptionally fresh, locally caught. 4. Wines by the bottle are actually reasonably priced and although the selection isn't huge, it's well curated to pair with the seafood sold at the truck and on premises. 5. The garden is just a lovely place to sit and hang out. They have great, chill beats playing. The staff (indoors and out) are friendly and kind. There are doggies everywhere, the sounds of children playing in nearby yards. No more ceviche or poke for us (we ordered them one more time and encountered the same flaws as before), but everything else we've tried (including non-seafood items like curried chicken salad) has been excellent. This is one of our new Nantucket favorites.

Yelp
167 Raw is one of my top spots to grab fresh and delicious seafood! We ordered from the little food truck out front and enjoyed our meal at the shaded picnic tables in their beautiful patio out back. We loved our first trip so much that we came back a second time. During our visits we tried: 1) The lobster roll 2) Fish tacos w/ grilled swordfish 3) Ceviche w/ tortilla chips - I think they used halibut or a similar mild white fish 4) Raw oysters 5) Fried oysters 6) Fish sandwich (tuna) The fish market has a variety of fresh seafood, fancy grocery items, snacks, wine and beer, and whole key lime pies, which were delicious! They have a private parking lot and staff were all very friendly. They're really close to Cisco Brewers and you can also find their oyster stand there amongst the other food truck options!

Yelp
Yum! The seafood was fresh and really good! We had clams, scallops and lobster. My favorite was the raw tuna appetizer. Yum!

Yelp
Love 167 so much. Their food truck is awesome, but I love their market more- going in to see what is fresh and cooking at home is just so much fun. And their merch is really cool!!
google avatar

Alex P.

Yelp
This place is awesome! Since it is a little smaller and the food options are limited I'd plan to come here for a lunch date outside. You can order food from the food truck and snag a picnic table outside while you're waiting. If you're visiting the main location you can stop inside for some additional snacks and drinks. The fish sandwich is the insanely good, best I've ever had. I'd also recommend the tuna poke. If Cisco is too packed come here if you want to drink outside and grab a bite to eat.

Yelp
Joe bob loves this type of place and stopped on his way to Cisco beach . Sitting on an umbrellaed picnic table eating freshly prepared fried oysters , lobster roll and fish tacos from the food truck , joe bob is in his element... Two thumbs up !

Yelp
We love 167 Raw! We've never been disappointed, saying a lot for the 12+ years we've been enjoying this excellent market and friendly service (and through at least one name change?). The fish is consistently so fresh; we especially love grilling the local swordfish and wild salmon, but also sole, cod, steaks, and more. Their smoked bluefish pate, ceviche, and guac are addictive go-to's. And killer delicious key lime pie (very limey, rivals Key West's). We always look forward to our next visit, thank you!!

Yelp
Awesome fish sandwich and taco for lunch. Great menu to select from - ceviche, oyster bar, and ice tea were perfect. Nice picnic tables set up next to food truck for epic informal outdoor dining.
google avatar

Jacqueline D.

Yelp
100% the food truck here is the island's best tuna burger and lobster roll. I can't go anywhere else for tuna burgers or lobster rolls after coming here! Also fast service. Definitely recommend a visit especially after a beach day!

Yelp
Also known as 167, this seafood store/meat market is tops. The fish is fresh; literally the swordfish was harpooned that morning. And the prices? Super reasonable for the quality of product. Yes, we're on Nantucket and I'm using the words reasonable prices. Their bluefish pate is solidly good though in my opinion, just buy some smoked bluefish that they sell and make your own to your pleasure. The guys slinging fish are super sweet and do their jobs so well, so props to them since the lines can be long. On July 4th, about 15 people were ahead of us, but the lines moved smoothly. They don't do cooked orders so for the most part you're picking up food and cooking it at home. They have some frozen/fridge options including burgers which are meaty and delicious and priced well. Friends have said the steaks are perfect and worth every pretty penny. Definitely a must stop for anyone looking to chef it up. Forgot the bread, lemons, charcuterie meats? They have you covered. East Coast Seafood is a one stop shop for your grilling dinner needs. I look forward to many more Nantucket trips.

Yelp
We did a day tour to Nantucket and rented bikes. We decided to ride to Cisco beach, the beach was rather anticlimactic, and we were hungry, but there was no restaurants at the beach. In the ride back to town, we decided to stop and eat and 167 Raw. Which is really just a food truck in front of the market. A regular customer raved about the fish sandwich, so we decided to give it a try. The sand which was delicious, probably the best fish sandwich evah! It had 7-8 pieces of lightly fried haddock, with slaw and a creamy dressing, it was served with potato chips and a pickle. While the sandwich was difficult to eat and keep the fish inside the bun, it was serious amazing. No trip to Cisco beach would be complete without a fish sand which from 167 raw.

Yelp
Great spot for seafood. Crudo, shrimp cocktail, sauce, fish to grill, pate, chips, snacks, all sorts of great stuff!! I paid about $40 for 1.5 lbs of cooked shrimp cocktail, and I forget what for the (delicious) crudo. The food was great. The staff was great. It's a wonderful little spot to hit up for all of your seafood needs.
google avatar

Yelp
Great spot for tacos and ceviche! Also, can't beat the proximity to Cisco brewery. It's across the street and makes for a fun afternoon bike ride and lunch stop.

Merrill J.

Yelp
This is the best raw oysters & clams! Oh, did i mention their guacamole dip? Accidentally found this place at Cisco Brewery. Did I mention we kept going back to get more oysters, clams & shrimp @ forgot all about the beer? Will come back to Nantucket just to have access to 167.

Yelp
First timer and was very pleased. Cool laid back vibe and food was delicious! Highly recommend

Amanda S.

Yelp
Had an amazing experience at Cisco; Best raw bar I've ever had! Oysters, clams, shrimp and the ceviche, all amazingly fresh. I highly recommend!

Christopher R.

Yelp
Having grown up in the hospitality industry and had more than my share of raw bar throughout the years, our experience at 167 Raw Bar at Cisco Brewery was exceptional!!! Cannot say enough about the freshness of the seafood. The care that Jeff and his coworkers take to shuck the shellfish to make sure they leave no remnants of shell was perfection. The shrimp were cooked perfectly and very flavorful. We also had the halibut ceviche which was phenomenal. Couldn't possibly recommend this place more. You have to go.
google avatar

Tadd F.

Yelp
Fantastic quality across the board! This is the only place I buy from when on Island if I can help it! Also try the beef they sell, there isn't a huge selection but it is superior quality at a great price!
google avatar

Jessica P.

Yelp
The key lime pie is to die for! I almost ate the entire thing myself and I would do it again! Best fish tacos my dads ever had and my mom loved the ceviche as well

Leah F.

Yelp
Both fish market and food truck are unbelievable!!! Got the freshest halibut to cook at home and then came back for the food truck. The fish tacos, ahi tuna, and ceviche were to die for. Cute little area in back if you want to eat there and you can even buy beer and wine at their market to enjoy with your meal. Already can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Colin L.

Yelp
Best fackin' lobstah roll evah. Can't wait to crush some bluefish paté & chronic oystahs when I get back. #nextquestion #unshuckinbelievable

Amy G.

Yelp
Unfortunately, terrible customer service. An elderly man immediately tripped and dropped his food after ordering it and fell over himself. I explained this to the staff manager and his reply was, "oh yeah. Well, I didn't actually see it happen...". And did not replace his meal. So incredibly disheartening to see this happen. I would never spend my money at this restaurant after witnessing this.

Whitney C.

Yelp
We ordered from 167 while at Cisco Brewers. All I can say is wow. First, the three guys that were working at the brewery were SO NICE. One of them took his time to introduce their menu and specials, which was appreciated. I ordered 4 cherrystone clams, ceviche, and shrimp. They had self-service condiments in small cups and ceviche was served with tortilla chips. Whoever came up with the raw bar at a brewery idea is a genius.
google avatar

Tony N.

Yelp
They go by the name of 167. This is easily one of the best fish markets I have ever been to. Not expensive at all. For example, when we went they had $18.95 a pound for fresh spear caught swordfish which is right on the money. Lots of variety and very friendly staff. They could easily charge more. If you want cheap fish buy previously-frozen. If you want the real deal go here.
google avatar

Rob N.

Yelp
A little pricey, but what can you expect from Nantucket in the summer?? This year they ran out of lobsters the night we went, so call ahead before you get into the car.

Angie H.

Yelp
We stopped by the Fish Market on our last full day on Nantucket. We ventured out for the day to visit lighthouses and beaches and as we headed back to our Hotel (The White Elephant) came upon 67 Raw- Fish Market. It was another delightful treat for us. We kept it simple and ordered 1lb of Shrimp Cocktail and it was "simply delicious"! Very happy with the quality of the shrimp as they were fresh, large and chilled. Also, included cocktail sauce that tasted like it was home made...delicious! The price was very reasonable as well. They had other fresh fish, that we would have loved to take home and cook, but we were on vacation and staying at a hotel. Ughh! There were no lines, due to it being offseason and the lady who helped us was very polite and friendly. We will stop by here again on our return visit to Nantucket.

Yelp
You're on Nantucket and you're looking for great seafood. You don't want to go all the way into town to hit up Sayle's so what are your options? Easy. East Coast Seafood AKA 167. There's a great selection of fish that's as fresh as it gets. Bill (the owner) and his staff are very helpful. The Key Lime Pie is great. The Bluefish spread is epic. The prices are in line with the what you'd pay anywhere on the island in the summer. What else is there to say? Give it a shot.

Mia B.

Yelp
Let me start off, if you don't like fish, don't go here. They don't have very many meal options that are not fish. On the other hand, the fish here was amazing and very fresh. The haddock sandwich was very good and nicely made. The quacamole was very good, and I would suggest getting if you go here. It was pretty busy, so there was a long wait for our food. Overall, if you like fish this is a good place with a wait on busy days

Vic G.

Yelp
Great laid back vibes at this slightly hipster roadside stop. Very solid choices from the truck - scallops, ceviche, fish tacos and guacamole were all very tasty. Take food to go or eat at the outdoor tables. The market itself is tiny, but has a carefully curated selection of fish, meat, prepared foods, groceries, as well as beer and wine. Nice not to have to go all the into town if you are nearby.
google avatar

Melissa M.

Yelp
Always my fish store of choice. Sometimes a smallish selection but only because everything is so fresh. Not overpriced. No obnoxious people dressed in Lilly Pulitzer.
google avatar

David N.

Yelp
East Coast Seafood AKA 167 is simply the finest selection of quality fish on the Island. Bill always carries fresh locally caught seafood. His harpoon caught swordfish is superb. In addition he also carries the best selection of Prime Beef at very fair prices. Get a 20 oz bone in rib-eye and you will be the happiest person alive! Sometimes they also have their own in house baked Key Lime Pie. Yummy is putting it kindly. Go visit them and you will be glad you did.

John C.

Yelp
Fish fresh as it gets. Great seasonings marinades BLUE FISH PATE and Key Lime Pies with wines to boot !

Christopher V.

Yelp
Hands down the best seafood market on the island and probably all of Massachusetts. I've shopped here about 50 times over the past two summers and have always been delighted with quality and prices. Not only is the seafood always fresh but they also have top quality prime meats. Surprisingly for a small seafood speciality store, I can put together a full meal as they usually have asparagus, fresh mozzarella, small red bliss potatoes, Luger's and Crane Crest dressing. Word of advice - don't expect your favorite fish / shell fish to always be in stock late in the day. The fact that it isn't sometimes is a good thing and evidence that the store is functioning on a fresh only basis.

Paige M.

Yelp
My chef friends turned me on to East Coast seafood. If we are in Nantucket and it's Saturday night we order our lobsters from East Coast. Bill steams the lobsters for you and they always come out perfectly. I have also had mussels, scallops and fish from EC all have been good. We love the location also near Bartlett farm so easy to get our veggies before picking up our fish.
