We live in the neighborhood and finally had a chance to try this diner. For lunch, we had a bacon cheeseburger and a fried fish sandwich. Huge servings! Fish was very flakey, and the batter coating nicely done, not greasy and delicately crisp. The restaurant is halal, like a few others along this strip of 16th, so the bacon is beef. Not the greatest, to be honest, but the burger itself was solid. Both sandwiches came with huge pile of skinny fries, which were hot and crisp.
It's a relatively simple but well thought out menu, which fits the low-key, friendly feel of the place. Quiet and comfortable, very clean. No alcohol and, strangely, no iced tea. Virgin cocktails though! It's a small place and on a Wednesday mid-day, not crowded, with a couple of other tables full besides ours.
Service was discrete yet friendly and responsive. A good neighborhood restaurant. We'd like to come back and try their breakfast, and will update then. Though perhaps not a menu to go out your way for, definitely recommended if you're in the area or want a place you can relax and read a book or if you need a chill place to meet someone.
