UnlockingRVA Silent Party was a phenomenal, pleasant experience. Two DJ's, two station headsets, social distance, great atmosphere.

This place is hopping - as it should be, the vicinity to some of the best local food and drink joints, the killer vibes, and the rustic surroundings make this square a winner. Magnum Approved.

Market on Thursdays is still small compared to other markets around town, just a handful of stalls, but they had strawberries, greens, honey, kettle corn, pastries, soaps, among other things. Maybe as demand increases and word spreads more variety will be added.

The music gets obnoxiously loud and doesnt take into consideration the people who live in the buildings nearby. Some folk need to sleep for work.

Came to ice skate on Christmas evening. The ice is super choppy. The skates are torture on your feet. Music is full of profanity. NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY!

Yelp
Summary: The 17th Street Farmer's Market is a farmer's market located on (drumroll), 17th Street. Experience: We stopped here after finishing a few hour walk on the Canal Walk. We arrived at about 2:30 PM on a sunny but not roasting Saturday afternoon. From the street, there appears to be a lot of items for sale, but once you're inside the area, you can see that most of the booths are vacant. I'm new to the area so I don't know what used to go on pre-2010 (when more positive reviews existed on Yelp), but the overall market was a bit underwhelming. That's not to say that a few of the vendors didn't have some nice looking produce and items. There was one stand that had a myriad of produce available including tomatoes, peaches, figs, peppers, and other fresh looking items. The prices seemed fair too, and if we were in a produce-y mode, I'd have purchased some. There was also a few homemade craft and jewelry stands that had some nice looking items, although I didn't see the prices. Some of the stands weren't quite as impressive. There was a stand that had a few different peppers in small quantities and one that had about 20 kid's books. I think it's neat that there are a range of items, but I'm not sure how many people are going to think to check a Farmer's Market for kid's books. Overall: If I were in the area again I'd check to see what items existed, but I just wasn't blown away. It seemed like a perfect day to be out selling things, yet the majority of the area was vacant. I can't compare it to other Farmer's Markets in the area since I have yet to experience any, but my opinion on 17th Street's so far is "A-OK".

Yelp
I went a bit too early to properly survey the produce at the 17th Street Farmers' Market, but not too early to miss buying some wonderful baked goods from Simply Delicious including several slices of really great pound cake. There's free parking in the 18th and Grace Street lot during Thursday, Saturday and Sunday market hours

Yelp
Family-friendly event in 17th Street Farmer's Market complete with food, beer, clothing, jewelry and other kinds of vendors. Lines can get pretty long, though. Different bands also performing live music. Not a bad way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Yelp
The boyfriend and I walked over on a Sunday afternoon to check it out for the first time. It wasn't overly crowded, and it was easy to find a table to sit our food on. Live music was playing and a handful of vendors were set up selling their goods. There weren't a ton of places to chose from for oysters, maybe around 5, and the lines for some were pretty long. The going rate was $2/oyster, without much other food offered, so it's definitely more of a snack than a meal. Was hoping for more options of unique oyster preparations, but we still enjoyed our garlic butter oysters. There were award wining oyster shuckers doing a demonstration at one of the vendors, which I didn't even know was a thing, but was pretty neat to learn about. We had a fun time, but I'm glad we didn't travel far to attend, as we only stayed around an hour.

Yelp
My fiancé and I come to the Italian Festival every year and enjoy ourselves. For the past few years (not last year because they didn't have one it has been help at 17th Street Farmers Market. I still do wish it was kept at the Richmond Raceway. It was spaced our more allowing more room to dance to the music and more table to sit and enjoy the festivities. The wine was delicious as always and great music/bands. We also enjoyed the boxing entertainment that was new to the usual line up! I also liked the props set up for pictures Abundance of selling vendors but not as many Italian food vendors or variety I have to say. Either way we will continue to attend just to see what new changes will happen! Keep up the good work!

Yelp
I attended the Kickin Chicken WingFest. It may have been better this year than last year! There were many vendors selling everything from chicken wings to kettle corn. There was a live band that was very enthusiastic and sounded good! Tv's were also set up so that attendees could catch the football games. All of the food vendors were set up further into the area than last year and the vendors selling merchandise were closer to the entrance. It allowed lots of room for those who wanted to escape the crowds but not leave the festival. I really enjoyed myself!!

Yelp
Went to this farmer's market on a weekend morning, excited to purchase some local fresh produce and check out this market that had fairly good reviews. Upon arrival, there were only a couple vendors set up. One was selling vegetables that had been purchased at the grocery store and placed on display with the produce labels still intact. The other vendor was selling Rasta-themed stuffed banana toys and some summer dresses. It was a bit of a let down. If you are looking for a bigger farmer's market with more options as vendors, I recommend checking out the South of the James Market in Forest Hill Park.

Yelp
Since I live in Church Hill, I hit the market every weekend. Wish there were more actual farmers there, but I have found a lot of cool vintage treasures at the vendor's booths. Lots of booths with old glass, old dishes, old prints and photographs, and a couple with small pieces of furniture. One has light switch plate covers with old postcard images on them of cool places in Richmond like the Jefferson Hotel and other iconic street scenes and buildings. If you drive, park for free in the lot above the market as the streets are jammed on the weekend.

Yelp
The 17th Street Farmers Market is the oldest continuously used Farmer's Market in the United States....pretty impressive heh? This is the kind of place that you can take your friends, out of town guests, and even your dog to. It is surrounded by great restaurants so making a day of it is easy. The vendors rotate but I can recall everything from jewelery, to soap, to art, and of course great produce, baked goods and the like. There is a list of events on the web site that I would encourage anyone to visit. There is an honor pay lot right behind the market.

Yelp
Look, I don't want to say the market is dead but....is the market dead? I used to spend every weekend canvasing here for the Sierra club when I was in college and it was a vibrant, bustling market then. Lots of veggies, some market sellers, performers. It was cool! A few years ago some performer friends told me that they'd stopped attending the market due to the small size of the booths, the high cost of getting a booth and the difficulty parking a stage/farm van in those tiny alleys alongside the market. Then I went down to the market on a Friday and found it closed. There were folks selling arts and crafts on Saturday but if I wanted to get veggies I'd have to come down on a Thursday. Wait, I'm going to get off work and either take the bus or try to drive down to Shockoe Bottom on a work day just to get some carrots? To me, at least, that was the end. Who can do that? I can't. It's just logistics. I'd like to still go out there, but I don't really need arts and crafts on a Saturday morning.

Yelp
I was really excited to attend this event. The theme is awesome and the concept of bringing oysters to s street festival is great. Unfortuantely I was sadly disappointed that only one vendor offered raw oysters and most others just had oyster stew. There simply wasn't as much variety as I had expected. I was impressed, however, with Halligan's display and the variety in general they had as one vendor. Certainly my favorite part of this event was visiting them. Hope next year there are some improvements.

Yelp
Passed by on a Saturday and went on a Sunday. Nothing really worth writing about. The City is desolate.

Yelp
I went to Richmond last week for a quick trip. This was my first time to this market so I can't speak to what happens on a regular basis. On Saturday morning, there were very few vendors out. There was a torrential thunderstorm so maybe that explained it. I went again on Sunday afternoon during the Bacon Festival. I'm not a bacon fan but I did find that the market had a decent selection of produce vendors. They also have a couple of food trucks -- selling funnel cake, Hawaiian ice, ice cream. I chose one of the shorter lines and ended up just getting a limeade mojito and wasn't impressed -- it was just water with a lime half and some mint thrown in. Not worth it. But I think the other vendors looked good. If I went back to Richmond, I'd check the market out again.

Yelp
Local charm since 1737. Really has the outdoor market feel with the old structures that look exactly the same in older photos. Right next to the river and the train tracks which I also like.
