Settled on 32 lush acres of jasmine, cypress trees and parasol pines in Saint-Tropez, this literal palace-turned-hotel has a storied past that began when it was built in the nineteenth century as an extravagant wedding gift from a wealthy cognac merchant to his daughter, who later transformed it into a high-end hotel in the early twentieth century. By the Roaring Twenties it drew Parisian nobility for ‘Gatsby-esque parties’, then, after falling into near ruin, a 1989 renovation restored it and in the ’90s it again became a hub for Saint-Tropez high life. Today the lavish, five-star Airelles Collection property has just 86 rooms and suites furnished in a quintessentially refined Riviera style, with intricate wallpaper, marble bathrooms, rustic tiled floors, coastal light wood and sea views. Guests have access to the glimmering Airelles Spa by Valmont, an indoor pool and private beach access, and several on-site restaurants: Le Table de la Messardière with lounge-worthy buffet-style dining, Matsuhisa serving a mish-mash of Japanese and Peruvian food courtesy of Chef Nobu, and Palladio, which champions elegant Italian classics. - Liv Kelly

Home to legendary football clubs AC Milan and Inter Milan, this iconic venue in Milan is often dubbed the 'temple of football' and is a striking example of brutalist architecture, with dramatic spiral concrete ramps and towering cylindrical structures that are more than capable of setting an epic tone for large-scale events like the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics opening ceremony. It will serve as the backdrop for a grand show titled Armonia – Harmony, promising to celebrate Italy and all its talents through a spectacle that weaves together imagination and beauty, Leonardo da Vinci and the great inventors, Italian design and taste, music and elegance. - Marianna Cerini
