1811 Miami Review - Edgewater - Miami - The Infatuation

"1811 is a a Uruguayan and Paraguayan food truck that parks in Edgewater Tuesday through Sunday starting at 5pm. There are lots of good things to eat here, including the national dish of Uruguay, a chivito. It’s a messy but delicious combination of sliced beef tenderloin, ham, cheese, bacon, and a fried egg. You will need somewhere between three and fifteen napkins as well as a dining companion who won’t judge you for getting yolk all over your cheek." - Ryan Pfeffer

Google
Got the beef tenderloin chivito. Was an alright sandwich. Warm and filling and juicy but no flavor really popped out or was memorable. Good mixture of many different flavors. Other reviews says this is authentic Paraguay and Uruguay food. Friendly and fast service, just not my cuisine of choice

Google
One of the few places in the entire country that sells Paraguayan and/or Uruguayan food. I was visiting Ft. Lauderdale and drove an hour just to come here, and it was worth it. The Lomito Arabe hit the spot. It tasted exactly how I remembered it from Paraguay. I will be back someday.

I had never tried Paraguayan food. So I was glad to find out there is a food truck only a few blocks away from me. I really liked the Mbeyu, which is like a cheese flatbread. I wanna try the chipas next.

1811 is a really good place that gathers us as a community. In this occasion, my husband and I are helping 2 fellow musicians that just arribed from paraguay and we asked the Owner's who are our friends to give an space to the musicians to play theyr songs with the Paraguayan Uruguayan community and so they said yes! So we went and had a really good time singing alone with the boys, our friends and having good food and company!

Yelp
Yesterday I picked up my cousins from the airport right before midnight. We stopped by right before getting home. I have to say that we had a positive first impression. We ordered chivito Especial, chivito junior and Chipa So. Everything was good. Tasty and for being order right before midnight we had a good meal. I would come back. Best of luck!

Yelp
I came here for a late dinner, and I'm glad I did. The outdoor seating is very chill and comfortable. I started my order with the chivito sandwich, which I had tried before somewhere else so I had high expectations. I asked for the drinks and they told me they had Guaraná, which I have never had in my life but I gave it a try. She explained to me that Guaraná is like Redbull without that strong flavor, and yes, that description fits the flavor. I'm glad she offered it. The drink was good enough. Now, the chivito sandwich, was amazing. It is all in great balance, the lettuce, meat, tomatoes and even the sauce inside is amazing. I will assume that the meat itself had a flavor that was well seasoned. I would feel that after every bite. I have had chivito sandwich before but this one beats them all. There are not so many Uruguayan places in Miami and if you found this one just go, it is worth it.

Yelp
RAREST LATIN AMERICAN EATERY IN THE US!! A Paraguayan and Uruguayan couple run this authentic business that shows their culture! I love that you find great food in this small food truck district (is it? We are not from Miami!!). The ambience is not so upscale like the surrounding food truck areas, but still great amount of shade and breeze to eat comfortably on a sunny day. We ordered a lomito árabe, mbeju, pastel mandi'o , along with guaranás. The food was very good!!!! We would've ordered more food had we not eaten breakfast so late.... :( Well definitely return next time when we visit Miami. It's definitely worth checking out and supporting a very rare small gem in Miami.

Yelp
This food truck is owned by an Uruguayan chef with a Paraguayan wife, don't know much about that kind of food but one time we stumbled there for the first time and oh my! Their sandwiches are like heaven, try el chivito it is like a brunch in a sandwich, the most glorious fries w truffles and cheese you will ever try! Love them. Come un hungry! :)

Yelp
My wife is from Paraguay, and, the food at 1811 tastes like it came from my Abuelas kitchen in Asunción! Three styles of CHIPA, all are amazing as well as the Lobito Arabe'. I had chicken Milanese sandwich and the bread was very fresh for being 10:00pm and the cutlet was sweet dark meat of high quality. Moist with delectable crunch of the Milanese. I am playfully forbidden to try the Uruguayan dishes at this juncture (wife is a Paraguaya) but it is of no consequence, because their Paraguayan menu is extensive. Again, the Sopa Paraguaya, my favorite, was moist and warmly fresh. The CHIPA Guazu, very authentic, along with the CHIPA So'o and Almidon quite tantalizing.. The food lot has another truck selling novelty baked goods, which is a Miami plus, especially if you are coming home late from socializing at 1811. I parked around the corner no problem and there was a healthy yet unobtrusive Police presence in the area tonight, felt very safe. The owners are gregarious and multi-lingual. Eclectic group of patrons chatting from table to table politely. Friendliest place i have ever been in Miami (moved here in 1997) For any Paraguayans, it was like being at a mini LOMILITOS back in Asunción, but perhaps cleaner, and a little more sober. One note, their liquor license is pending, which is "OK" because it is legal to BYOB, or, if you forget your Booze, you can go 1/2 block to gas station convenience store for beer wine etc. If you crave a friendly polite crowd and want to try some fascinatingly good and different cuisine from South America, this is your place! Definitely a bucket list! Be great on a motorcycle or bicycle scooter, you can pull right onto their lot.
