Facing COVID-19, Some West Loop Food Hall Stalls Will ‘Hibernate’ Until 2021 - Eater Chicago

"The decision shut down more than 70 restaurants, bars, and other businesses inside the complex, leaving only enormous, domed patio bar Offshore as the sole operating tenant." - Naomi Waxman

I’ve dined at this establishment on two seperate occasions, each time was spectacular. Andy was my waiter both times and he is amazing! Very attentive and accommodating. For Drinks– we tried the House Pinot very crisp & grapefruit forward, the Pink Fashion a yummy strawberry lemonade cocktail and my personal favorite, the Melonita. It literally taste like you should be sitting poolside in Tulum, MX. 10/10. For starters– Andy offered us a complimentary sample of the very delicious Salmon Spread and Old Bay chips. We also ordered the crab cakes and fried calamari. I’d give the appetizers a 7/10 overall. For dinner– we tried a bunch of goodies and I’d highly recommend ALL! We got the crab legs, the Blackened Fish Tacos, the Filet Mignon and the Mediterranean Salmon. We were celebrating a birthday so we also received an order of complimentary Beignets with chocolate sauce. Only place better would be Cafe Du Mond down in NOLA. We cannot wait to go back and if you’re considering this place, I’d say go for it! You will not be disappointed!

My wife and I recently visited here and we were thrilled with the meal. I arrived a few minutes before our reservation so I stopped by the bar for a drink. The selected cocktails on the drink menu were refreshing, diverse, and I was pleased with the presentation and care taken in preparation. Upon being seated, we were greeted with a really tasty complementary appetizer of a salmon spread over toast. Our waitress was attentive and helpful in navigating the daily specials and the menu. We started with oysters on the half shell, and my wife got the special of the day, which I believe was a grilled grouper with mushrooms, while I chose the black cod. Both cuts of fish were perfectly cooked, flaky and delicate. We finished the meal with a hefty slice of lemon meringue pie which was not overpowering like some key lime and lemon meringue pies can be. The meal was pricier than some other restaurants for the portion sizes you receive, but it was absolutely a gourmet meal worth the money spent. We will definitely be coming back.

Quiet, classy atmosphere. Tortilla chips and a seafood spread are brought out to the table. They had a new cocktail, "getting figgy with it," and it was DELICIOUS . My boyfriend enjoyed the smoked old fashioned he ordered. For an appetizer we got the Chashu Braised Pork Belly, which is brought out on steam buns which I have never had before. They have a very airy texture, which was a nice surprise. For the main course I ordered the Pan Seared Dayboat Scallops which were excellent. My boyfriend got some type of surf and turf with lobster, steak and frites. Since it was our anniversary they brought in some amazing beignets with home made whipped cream and chocolate sauce. They were so warm and fresh. The staff was very friendly.

They start you off with free chips with smoked salmon. It’s a unique feature, and quite tasty. The colossal shrimp are ordered individually. I ordered two and loved them. I especially enjoyed the cocktail sauce which has a strong horseradish kick. I ordered the caprese salad with a piece of salmon on top. It was fantastic. Andrew was one of the best waiters I’ve had in a long time. Highly recommended!

We will definitely come here again! The mussels were almost as good as the ones I had in Mont Saint Michel. The garlic frites, homemade chips, fried walleye, and swordfish sandwich were excellent too. I would not order the blue crab au gratin or she crab soup again. The crab au gratin was way too sweet, but the crusty bread that came with it was awesome. The crab in both dishes was very dry and stringy. I really liked the coastal look of the place and the live music on Monday night. Service was great. All in all, it was an enjoyable evening and a great new restaurant.

I dined at 1818 Offshore in Edwardsville, hoping for a pleasant evening, but received an appalling experience instead. I ordered the mahi mahi fish tacos with fries. The fries were unbearably salty, and before I could eat more than a bite of my taco, a fly landed in my food. When I alerted the waitress, she insisted I still had to pay. The manager’s response? "You are sitting outside. What do you expect?" No apology, no offer to replace the meal—just a demand for payment for inedible food. This establishment has shown a shocking disregard for basic customer service. I won't be spending another dime here.

Choose this place for dinner for a Saturday night. I noticed that reservations were key here. I went online and grabbed a table for two. There were several times spots open for seating so it made me feel confident that this last minute reservation would work. When we arrived the restaurant was not very full. There were some guys that went in before us and the hostess informed them that they were not taking "walk-ins" only reservations (despite plenty of seating being open). They looked around and looked back at the hostess and walked out looking annoyed. As we stepped up to the hostess she advised the same thing but we gave her our name. She informed us that a "table was being prepared" and for us to "wait because our reservation was not for another 15 minutes ". We found this ridiculous because there was seating everywhere. But still we went to the bar, where we waited for 10 minutes before the bartender even acknowledged us. When I did finally get his attention and ask for a drink, his first response was "give me a second". He then proceeded to grab the couples drink orders that had just walked up to the bar that were standing to the left of me. While sitting at the bar, the bartender only provided 1 drink. Never asked within that 15 minutes if we wanted another. At the end of our long awaited time for a table we get seated. We order right away and get some old bay seasoned pita chips and tuna to dip it into. Not a bad tasting combo, but definitely an interesting one. I ordered the scallops with spinach and couscous, my table friend orders the aged ribeye. About 40-45 minutes later our food comes out. Really not sure what took so long seeing how my friend got his steak medium rare and mine was seafood but whatever. The steak was seasoned and cooked perfectly and is highly recommended. The scallops were overly seasoned and very salty. They tasted cooked on the outside and undercooked on the inside. I stopped eating them after the 2nd one. The spinach and couscous underneath the scallops were great (lightly seasoned and buttered). However, I truly wish I ordered the fish instead... We sat there at the restaurant for about 3hours in total and during that time my drink went empty about 3 times. Each time.me having to flag the waitress down to get a refill. Completely unacceptable. The restaurant was busy with chatter from surrounding tables but was still not completely full. They ambiance of the place was like a mix of The Drunken Fish and a small coastal restaurant that you would find in Orlando. Not sure we would go back again, but it was worth a try. You might have a different experience 🤔 Oh I almost forgot. For all those allergy people out there, their fried foods are cooked in soy oil. Happy eating!
