Best Places to Get Hawaiian Food for Takeout and Delivery in Seattle - Eater Seattle

"This roving pop-up specializes in refreshing flavors of Hawaiian shave ice (such as guava, orange dreamsicle, and pineapple) and has been popping up all around the city, including Sam Choy’s Poke to the Max. While this location reflects its shared kitchen with 20 Oz Tea, fans should keep an eye on Mike’s Instagram page for where it’s headed next." - Eater Staff

Yelp
This sushi spot deserves to be in the rafters of epic Seattle sushi restaurants. The sushi chef, Richard, and his wife were nice as could be. Richard is second to the sushi. Sushi was a 12/10, while Richard was just a 10/10. Richard is elite. Moriyama is elite. S&F

Yelp
Firstly, let me state for the record that I'm obsessed with this place. I came here on a whim and never left. It's a cute little restaurant that serves sushi at a very fair price. At this price point, it won't blow your socks off, but it also won't cost you an arm and a leg. I've taken many people to this place now and everyone leaves happy. I've come here over a dozen times and always get the same thing. Nigiri omakase, sake, and beer. At ~$62 the omakase value is absurdly good. The sake bottles are very fairly priced compared to other restaurants, and the beer is crisp & cold. This is the place you go to when you are suddenly in the mood for sushi and don't want to deal with reservations or breaking the bank. The service is attentive and the vibe is chill.

Yelp
I love this spot. Tiny little hidden gem that probably is not so hidden. Most of the time I order to go but everytime I eat in I am happily placed at the sushi bar. The restaurant is very small but the staff make sure you are being looked after throughout the dining experience. I recommend the sushi candy and the lemon salmon roll. Everything is great here!

Yelp
Fantastic find in Eastlake! This small but cozy Japanese eatery boats a large selection of maki rolls, as well as unique appetizer bites such as the candied sushi, which were nigiri pieces topped with scallop and salmon that are torched to perfection with a sweet tinge. I also really enjoy oysters so I tried the oyster shooter, a delicious mixture of a tarte spicy shot with a quail egg yolk that isn't too dense that is offset by the neutralizing brine of the oyster once you bite into it, such a unique experience! I also had to try the Matcha Kyoto IPA, which was such a unique experience that starts off with a mild kick of an IPA that is quickly followed by the sweet bitter aftertaste of matcha. Of course the IPA is densely green and so cool! Lastly their lava rolls is so delicately torched that the spicy mayo on top almost looks like burnt cheese but tastes so so good! Highly recommend checking out this spot, if not for the unique dishes, homey atmosphere, then also for the very friendly staff who remembered my table when I had to call in after forgetting something at the restaurant.

Yelp
The sushi was well made and packaged and very tasty. The ingredients were of strong quality and everything was prepared fresh. We got take out but would definitely come back to eat in. The service was great and it has some really lovely traditional decor. Very warm and relaxing space.

Yelp
Cute little sushi place in Seattle. The restaurant is small but very well decorated and very cozy. The sushi rolls were very fresh and unique, but I just wasn't a huge fan of the rolls we got, as the citrus overpowered the flavors.

Yelp
My friend and I were craving sushi on a Thursday. Glad we found a newish sushi place to explore. We arrived around 11:40am, and the restaurant was fairly empty without any wait. There are bento box choices, but we wanted to have some rolls. We had Salmon lemon roll, East lake roll, snow crab California futo maki, and mixed veggie roll. My favorite was salmon lemon roll. The subtle citrus flavor really complemented the salmon well. That being said, the sushi were good but not the best I had. The ambiance is pleasant with clean interior. It was about $70 for the 2 of us. I would return to try out the bento boxes.

Yelp
We stopped by Moriyama Sushi while visiting Seattle and it was definitely a great quick sushi spot for lunch! We came about an hour before closing their lunch service, but they were very accommodating and kind! They're located in East Lake so they're mostly surrounded by apartments and some medical affiliated businesses. It was primarily street parking, but parking was pretty easy to find! When you walk in, you'll notice it's not too big but also not a small restaurant. It had a mix of a modern but cozy Japanese influenced interior with both tables and bar seating. The server who helped us was so sweet and always checked in on us! I came with my boyfriend and we both got the Mix and Match Bento Box and Japanese Ceviche to share. The mix and match bento was definitely a great value meal. We got the chirashi regular and it also came with your choice of a California roll or spicy tuna and seaweed salad or squid salad. The chirashi was super fresh and they gave you a good portion for a bento box! The Japanese Ceviche was definitely the most unique of everything we ordered! It was super fresh and I liked how they had this wasabi, lime, jalapeno sauce drizzled over it that added an additional zesty element to it! Don't expect this to taste like traditional ceviche, but this is still a great dish in my opinion! Overall, I highly recommend checking out Moriyama Sushi! Great spot to go to for a casual lunch in a lovely area.

Yelp
We were craving sushi and happened to walk past this restaurant. It was peak hours (~7:30 on a friday night) but we still managed to get seated right away. The waitress was very friendly and helpful! We ordered the Moriawase for two which was a big plate of nigiri. The fish was not bad but also not exceptional. I'm not sure it's worth the pricing, but I was starving and it really hit the spot! It came with miso soup as well which is a nice plus. The matcha beer was a super cool experience! The bitter matcha pairs with the IPA very well, I would definitely recommend this to beer and matcha enjoyers. The sushi candy was really yummy -- seared salmon and scallop with a yummy sauce on top -- but I'm not sure it's worth $13 for two pieces. Overall I had a good time at this cozy sushi restaurant, I'd love to come again to try their happy hour!

Yelp
We really loved this spot. Food was excellent and reasonably priced. Staff was attentive and helped us pick some great options. Will definitely come back soon.

Yelp
It's okay. If it were possible, I think I'd give 3.5 stars. The employees are very friendly and helpful. The space inside is small, but clean and nicely decorated. The fish is very mediocre for the price. It smells a touch too fishy to be as fresh as it ought to be. The flavor is fine/average. Which, for $70 (no alcohol or appetizers etc) or about $5-6 a piece, I'd say is....just ok.

Yelp
Came by Moriyama for happy hour and got the nigiri happy hour platter and the torolicious roll. We enjoyed the freshness of the sashimi in all of our dishes, and the torolicious packed a good yuzu punch that went really well with Wasabi. That being said, we thought both the nigiri and roll pieces were pretty small... which might explain its affordability compared to other places. There were enough seats on a Friday and the ambiance was cozy, modern Japanese. We were even treated by the chef to an appetizer of cucumber and roe! All in all, 5 stars for good, well-priced sushi in Seattle.

Yelp
A hidden gem in Eastlake! I've been going to Moriyama for happy hour since I moved to the neighborhood two years ago. The staff is friendly and offers excellent service. The restaurant itself is very clean with a minimalistic design. The sushi is reasonably priced and high quality. I always get the sushi candy (torched salmon and scallop) along with a few happy hour plates. They offer more traditional rolls and some creative rolls too. Moriyama is one of my favorite sushi spots in the city and stepping in here reminds me of Japan.

Olivia K.

Yelp
The best sushi I've ever had. My favorite is the Black Sea bream nigiri special. The staff are always incredibly kind. Sake is poured for you and delivered in an ice bucket if chosen to have cold. We go here for every special occasion. LOVE THIS SPOT. More people need to know about it.

MardyEllen P.

Yelp
This chef gets it. He is a master at putting a single bite making it an experience. Everyone is so nice....if you haven't gone there yet you are missing out! Only other sushi place I go to! Prices are reasonable and ask the chef if you want something special ..... You won't be disappointed

Yelp
While Eastlake has a lot of sushi restaurants, I can't complain about the addition of Moriyama. The sushi is fresh with classic menu items and some fun ones too! I've had a few different things here - lunch bento boxes, classic sushi and nigiri, and some rolls. There's a great happy hour price on sushi sets. It's easy to get seating here and if you order pickup, they are very punctual with your order.

Yelp
Decided to check this new sushi spot out that open within the last week. Currently only doing take out and delivery until the weather gets warmer. The gentleman working was super kind when picking up my order! The pricing and portions were comparable other spots. Their wasabi had a good kick and not flat like some can be. Overall the fish felt like good quality and tasted great Rainbow roll and spicy yellowtail were as expected Salmon maki had great fish proportions and felt really buttery Eastlake roll was topped off with a nice chili crisp Sushi moriawase had a great variety and the miso soup was a generous amount. They added a complimentary squid salad that I probably wouldn't have gotten myself but was enjoyable. Extra peppers for spice would have been a great additions

Yelp
I was on the lookout for a new sushi spot to try since the last one I went to yesterday missed the mark for me and Moriyama didn't disappoint. Parking wasn't hard either considering it is located in East Lake. Coming in, it felt really new just because of how clean the restaurant looked. It also was a cozier vibe than other places because it's not too big. I really liked interior overall. We sat at the sushi bar and the server and sushi chefs were pretty nice. I chose to sit at the sushi bar to see them make our sashimi. We came during happy hour which is 5-6pm! I believe we ordered the special sashimi set A & B. All the fish tasted fresh and all of them came in it's own sauce or other things on top that compliment the fish really nicely. Personally, I think the fish was good and flavorful but the sushi rice we got, some of the pieces were hard so I was surprised about that but otherwise I really enjoyed my first visit here!

Navinder D.

Yelp
I come from LA to visit family and moriyama sushi is a must Fresh good variety of sushi The staff is always helpful

Yelp
I really appreciated the variety and uniqueness of their menu here, especially the starters and signature sashimi. Our highlights were scallop-uni with yuzu sesame and seared salmon with truffle ponzu but other dishes we ordered were also good and there were so many more on the menu I'd like to try so definitely will be returning! Efficient service and attentive staff. Clean & minimalistic ambiance. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Had to call to place our order because they wouldn't acknowledge when my s.o went in to order. Told us 45 minutes and then came back and made him wait another 20 minutes because it somehow wasn't ready. Got the Eastlake roll and a Lava Roll. Both came warm and tasted terrible. Miso soup was watery and tasteless. The only good thing from my experience is the Edamame and even that was undersalted.

Manda K.

Yelp
This place is always consistent with their amazing service and fresh fish. Service is always so sweet and nice and the sushi is well priced. I come back here at least every other week I feel. Definitely give them A try if you haven't, also really cute and clean space.

Yelp
The team at Moriyama are great. They care about the quality of food and the presentation.

Yelp
Very taste sushi with great value. You shouldn't be disappointed and I'll be back for more soon

Ngoc P.

Yelp
Not sure why I gave this place a second chance. I ordered the Mount Rainier sushi, which was inundated in a salty, tangy liquid that appeared to be a condiment rather than a sauce to be drizzled on top of the roll. It felt like I was eating some sort of bad curry. The rice tasted like regular rice rather than sushi rice, and it was slightly undercooked. For the crazy price of $23.15, I expected better.

Yelp
We love it here! Best priced sushi in Seattle. It tastes great and is fresh and doesn't break the bank. Service is so friendly and the atmosphere is very chill

Yelp
Great spot. It's not close to our house but we try to eat here a few times a year. Highly recommended. Try to catch their happy hour. I will say they are on the pricier side, but their food is top quality, and they have a great location. We always get great customer service.

David H.

Yelp
This delightful restaurant offers first-quality food prepared by a master chef, served by a friendly professional staff. This rare treasure has become a go-to whether I'm dining solo or entertaining. My more well-traveled friends say it's like stepping out of Seattle and walking directly into Japan.

Yelp
Delicious nigiri omakase - extremely fresh fish and accompanying flavors, great staff, quaint and friendly atmosphere. I will definitely be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Not your average sushi joint that piles of bunch of toppings and deep fry rolls to mask the mediocre fish quality. This restaurant actually doesn't have deep fried anything, just fresh, high quality, tasty sushi/sashimi. We had the sushi candy to start off. Crab salad wrapped with a large scallop and topped with salmon, then lightly blowtorched. Pretty amazing. I haven't seen this combo before and it literally was a mouthful of joy. Nigiri Omakase with Yakumi toppings...the chef pairs the toppings individually with the appropriate fish. He's spot on. Each piece (even ones that I'm not typically a fan of) was paired perfectly with the right Yakumi topping and made each bite...exquisite. Also, one of the few restaurants that have fresh ground wasabi. Must try!! Totally different flavor profile than the typical wasabi made from powder. Attentive waitress was always on top of everything we needed. Even the chef himself would make sure we had everything we wanted. The location is easy to get to. Light and bright and extremely clean interior (even the bathroom). Definitely one of my new favorite restaurants.

Denise M.

Yelp
A hidden gem tucked away in Eastlake. They have both traditional sushi and imaginative concoctions like the volcano roll which had a sauce that reminded me of Buffalo wings in a good way

Yelp
Had dinner here with a friend a few weeks ago. Service was outstanding! The chef even made us a sample appetizer as the place is relatively new and they are still adding to the menu. Sushi was super fresh, beautiful presentation, and decadently delicious!

Yelp
We are very picky about sushi, and have been looking for a solidly good sushi restaurant in WA / Seattle for a very long time. Moriyama currently holds our "best sushi in Washingon" title! There are a lot of things to like: - The fish tastes very fresh, and melts in your mouth. No strange bits and pieces of fat or weird texture - just really good cuts elevated by tastefully crafted sauces and garnishes. - The rolls are very flavorful, yet at the same time the flavors are nicely balanced with nothing dominating or overpowering the taste. The light application of yuzu and sesame oil elevates the food, while allowing for the fish to be celebrated. Each roll had a unique flavor, requiring a bite of the very tasty (fresh / marinated?) ginger to reset the tastebuds when switching between different bites. - Plating and general presentation of the meals is very good, a feast for the eyes is always a nice touch! - It is a tidy & cozy location in a relatively quiet Eastlake location that has decent street parking and little traffic even at 5 pm. The decor is nice and inviting, and the staff are friendly and attentive. Music selection was good, and it was quiet enough to hold a normal conversation without raising your voice. Overall this is a very exciting restaurant and a solid 5-star sushi experience. Not cheap, but definitely reasonably priced for the flavor and quality, relatively easy to get to, and 100% worth checking out. We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Overall ambiance was really calm and the interior of the restaurant's really cute. We came right as they opened and ordered their maki roll set on their happy hour menu, a signature roll, and sushi candy. Their sushi candy was the best one so would def recommend that! The rest were good, but would say it's pretty average. They also gave a bit of salmon and cucumber for free right after we ordered.

Caroline D.

Yelp
Highly recommend Moriyama! The sushi is incredible, the service is great and the sushi chefs are knowledgeable. I've lived in Seattle for 6 years and this is by far a top 3 sushi restaurant in the city. If you can, sit at the sushi bar!

Dylan S.

Yelp
The food was awesome. Me and my gf got the sushi omakase with additional uni nigir and ama ebi that we ordered. The fish was all so fresh and the service was great. The restaurant vibes are really nice for a date night

Ryan K.

Yelp
Probably the best sushi in Seattle. Glad I came here before it's impossible to get a table.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic. Quality of fish is amazing and preparation of dishes is very thoughtful. Service was fantastic. I'd love to go back and try more.

Yelp
They've now opened to be a full service restaurant (also with takeout/delivery). We now dine here a few times a month. Great service too -- highly recommend.

Yelp
We had both the chef's choice nigiri sushi and sashimi platters and loved them. We had two tools with sauce on them that were not as hood. Sauce was very heavy and there was so much that we could not taste the sushi. The service was wonderful. Now that we know how to order we won't hesitate to go back. A very nice addition to our neighborhood.

Korina M.

Yelp
Small gem of a place! My son and I ate here and everything was so delicious! Chef even gave us a sample of salmon and cucumber in sauce... Service was great as well! We can't wait to return!
google avatar

Paige O.

Yelp
So fresh and delicious! Totally hits the spot if you're craving sushi and well priced for the quality of fish. I'll definitely be ordering again soon!

Iva T.

Yelp
At a private event we had a seven course tasting menu which was spectacular. The sushi candy and the sashimi with truffle were among the favorites, there was a citrus vinaigrette sashimi and salad also exceptional as well as a dish with thinly slices avocado and spicy fish was delightful. The fish was excellent, every dish had distinct flavor, they were able to accommodate gluten allergy and serve everything together for a group of 17. Service was great!

Ava S.

Yelp
enjoyed dinner here with a friend. We walked in around 7pm on a Tuesday & were able to sit right down with no wait. The service was very pleasant & staff was nice. The food was delicious. We tried oysters, a couple different sashimi dishes & a few rolls. I will definitely be returning to try more of their menu (:

James W.

Yelp
My wife and I have been totally enthusiastic about this restaurant since Day One. I have taken some friends to try the food out, both of whom know sushi and sashimi far better than I. Both raved about the place. I am having my 75th birthday party here! That's how much we love the place, the people could not be nicer; the food could not be better; and the prices are reasonable. Pretty soon it is going to be tough to cadge a table! Don't miss Moriyama Sushi. Jim

Susan L.

Yelp
100% top place for Sushi in Seattle! Great service, beautiful natural light and incredible menu options for nagiri and sushimi and Bento Box meals. Prices are reasonable and portions are generous and beautifully prepared and plated. I think their green tea is one of the best I have had here in the United States. This restaurant offers a pleasant meal experience, knowledgeable service, relaxing ,vibrantly decorated and well lighted atmosphere with flavors you will enjoy immensely. Konnichiwa

Yelp
This was our first visit to Moriyama Sushi and we absolutely loved it! The freshest and most beautiful sushi I think I've ever had! Our server was so gracious and helpful and gave us lots of recommendations all of which were perfect. My favorite was the signature Moriyama roll, a combination of Snowcrab, Eel, Cucumber with Avocado, Spicy Tuna, Tobiko, MoriYama Special Sauce. We look forward to coming back soon!

Yelp
10/10. Great food, really fresh and at great prices, service was awesome. Honestly a hidden gem. I really can't recommend it higher.

Belle B.

Yelp
So good I don't want to share that it is SO GOOD! The service was on point and so kind. The sushi was fresh, traditional and with welcomed enhancements. The space is light and comfortable. Date night. Girls night out. Friends meet up. Go.
