We had a wonderful experience at 1826. It is in a cozy thatch roofed cottage with indoor and outdoor seating. The staff is attentive and caring with their service and are willing to answer questions and they were all very sweet. From appetizers to dessert, each dish was presented with care and tasted phenomenal. Since the menu does change I don’t want to make suggestions that might not extend to others but my braised short rib was out of this world. Highly recommend this place if you’re visiting Adare. Be sure to make a reservation.

Easily one of the best meals I've ever had. The awards adorn this lovely little cottage and they are well deserved. The service was impeccable and attentive. The atmosphere is quaint and the cottage vibes help bring in the feeling of home hearth. We started our drinks with whiskey and a Gewurztraminer for Grandma. The water was W.B. Yeats water and it was delicious. We ordered 4 appetizers from there, the Scotch Egg, the Crab Tart, the Fried Dooncastle Oysters, and the French Onion Soup. We also ordered the fresh made bread with farmhouse butter. It was my first time ever trying a scotch egg and it was soooo delicious with the homemade beer mustard. It wasn't overpowering and paired with the apple puree and creamy yolk of the egg, everything was nice and smooth. The oysters were fantastic as well as the French Onion Soup. The gruyere and the bread used in the soup accompanied the creamy texture so well. The highlight of the appetizers was the fresh crab tart. The quality of crab used was remarkable and the presentation was elevated by the flavor of every different dollop of sauce. The crunch of the flaky phyllo-dough like crust with the refreshing brightness of the sweet creme fraiche tied the full dynamic flavor of the crab tart together. We could've ordered three so that we would have had our own. For the main course, we ordered the Duck, the Lamb, and the Sirloin. Grandma was able to substitute the bacon and crispy onion mash for her chips and that was very nice of the Chef. All of our entrees were locally sourced as well as the veggies. Grandma ordered her sirloin Med. Well and she said it was cooked exactly how she liked it. My lamb was delicious and cooked to a nice Med. rare. My favorite part was the texture of the seared and seasoned crust with the soft and juicy center. The quality of lamb was awesome with its flavor not being overpowered by gaminess. I absolutely loved my giant grilled asparagus. It was thick without being too fibrous. My polenta was crisped to perfection and the flavor was perfectly savory. My husband's Duck was the favorite entree. Grandma has never had Duck and loved it. The duck was cooked a perfect Med rare and absolutely melted in our mouth. I've only seen hasselback potatoes on Instagram and I was ecstatic to finally try it. We devoured our entrees and moved onto dessert, which we ordered 4 again. We ordered the Pudding Pot, the Soufflé, the "Faked" Alaska, and the creme brulée. While we waited the 20 mins for the pudding pot and the Soufflé, we ordered an espresso and an Irish Coffee. Both of which came with a delicious chocolate cookie. The desserts came out and blew us away. The server assistant prepared the Soufflé by pouring in the toffee. I went after the lemon curd Alaska with the meringue. We shared the pudding pot and the Soufflé. Grandma loved her creme brulée. Our favorite was probably the Soufflé and my 2nd was the Faked Alaska. I loved the contrast of the warm Soufflé with the cold lemon curd under the meringue. This was a very long-winded review but this was one of the best meals we've had in a very long time. This dinner would be $800-$900 easily in Las Vegas and we walked out under $400 after tip. The cottage is from 1826 as part of the service homes for the Adare Manor. The love and passion of Chef Murphy and his wife Elaine are reflected in the fact that it is a well respected restaurant in town. Our hotel said we were lucky to get reservations there and that they are usually full. Thank you so much, Chef Murphy! Truly a delight.

Beautiful location in the centre of Adare. Excellent service and amazing food, creative and delicious. A bit on the expensive side, but so are all good restaurants in Ireland at the moment.

To start with the positives, the food is great. Each dish was well made and nicely presented. Unfortunately, the experience was overshadowed by a poor atmosphere. There was a drunk person who was loud and disruptive and it made the surrounding tables feel uncomfortable. You could also tell that some waitresses were also uncomfortable with the person's behaviour. It could have been prevented by cutting the supply of alcohol to this person earlier.

Google
Best dinner experience in Adare, and we weren't surprised to find out that the chef here has won many awards for his talent. We had the cured salmon and the crab salad for appetizers, both were exceptional. For mains, I'd highly encourage you to try the Korean fried chicken. I know, I was skeptical of ordering Korean fried chicken in an Irish establishment too, but the chicken was so tender and juicy, and the sauce was the perfect combination of smoky and sweet.

1826 was spectacular. The food was flawless, the service was amazing, and the ambiance was lovely. Absolutely cannot wait to go back. A fantastic treat.

Yelp
I had a great meal here and would definitely recommend it. I've read that it's one of the best restaurants in Adare, and I would believe it. I had eaten plenty of pub food in my one-week trip in Ireland and was looking for something more sophisticated, and 1826 Adare certainly delivered. I ordered: Housemade soda bread with butter Shaved pear and young buck cheese salad- pretty good Braised beef special with a side of baby potatoes- very good, recommended House fish pie with a side of mashed potatoes- very good, recommended Housemade soda bread: - Very good, loved that it was seeded, nice way to start the meal Shaved pear and young buck cheese salad - This was a unique, interested, and well-plated dish. I enjoyed the flavors and there was an interesting dried fruit of some sort that made this dish fun. I was hoping to have a little more greenery/salad/lettuce in the dish mainly because that's what I was expecting and in the mood for when I ordered the salad, but the flavors were overall quite good Braised beef special - This was delicious. Very tender, well seasoned, and accompanied by some delicious sauces. I really enjoyed this dish. House fish pie - This was also quite delicious with a crispy bread crumb topping and baked with generous amounts of fresh fish. This was a really enjoyable dish as well. Overall really enjoyed dinner here. Reservations are recommended. I made a last minute weekday reservation and was able to get a slot later in the night. Ambiance was pleasant.

Yelp
Even though they only had one person in there eating, we were turned away by a very rude gentleman because "didn't have a reservation". It says no where that they're needed, and you would think they'd have wanted the business with how empty it was here.

Yelp
1826.....the restaurant we will remember! We arrived in Adare and stayed at the Adare Manor on 9/13/18. We were advised by our lovely driver, Pat OBrien, that 1826 was the place to eat. We were unable to get a reservation but, on a long shot, asked if they could fit us in for a late meal. Thankfully, it was a "Yes"! The adorable ambience of this quaint little restaurant in town was a highlight. We ALL ordered the short rib and UNANIMOUSLY agreed that it was THEE best short rib we've ever had. "Chef, how did you create that sauce?" The accompaniments, wine and dessert were also top notch! The quintessential Irish experience....dimly lit, small cottage like environment that felt as though a local family had us for an evening meal... We would absolutely define ourselves as Foodies....and classify this adorable little place as a DONT MISS!

Yelp
Best meal in Adare. We were booked into this husband and wife eatery and it turned out to be one of the best dinners we had.

Yelp
Really wanted to love this place, but unfortunately the flavors were lacking in my vegetarian bento box. I couldn't believe a restaurant of this caliber could get a simple salad wrong, it was so salty. The cauliflower fritters were fried correctly but lacked flavor. The most amazing flavor in the box was the Indian dal. With an open kitchen like this, I would hope the chef works on his people skills and not bark at his sous chefs or servers. Being diabetic, I asked our server if they could replace the side of potatoes with a salad or vegetables, so she went to the kitchen to inquire. He was so loud and negative with his response, I felt so sorry to our server. I didn't have a problem with the answer being no to substitutions. Only wishing success for this restaurant.

Yelp
Pork belly was spectacular. The specials menu is completely delicious. Had a great time and enjoyed very good food with exceptional service. Friendly staff on the floor and great Irish cuisine.

Yelp
Restaurant 1826 was recommended to us by the manager of a nearby hotel as it had just won "restaurant of 2014" award. We took his suggestion and stopped in in time for their "early bird special" (which we found many Irish restaurants offer dinner customers dining before 7pm or so). Between the soup (turnip), main courses (chicken breast and sirloin steak) and dessert (sticky toffee pudding with rum raisin ice cream), it was hands down the best meal we had during our 12 day visit to Ireland. Service was great and relative to the price we paid for other, not-nearly-as-good meals we had elsewhere, well worth the money.

Yelp
Amazing! Everyone at Adare Manor recommended that we eat here. They were right. This is hands down the best meal we've had in Ireland this far. The bread baked scallops starter was absolutely life changing. The dry aged sirloin main course was also incredible. This was the first meal my wife and I ate as a married couple as we were married earlier today in Limerick.

Yelp
My husband and I fully enjoyed our dinner here on a Friday night. Bread at the table was a hearty Irish soda bread with treacle. I started with a very frothy potato and leek soup served in a tourine, and it was very good. For a main I had the 36-hour slow cooked pork belly served on a bed of mushrooms and celeriac. It was easily the best meal I had on my two-week trip of Dublin. The pork belly was perfectly tender with a thick cut of crispy fat on top. My husband had the steak with a side of curried cauliflower. We shared a carafe of Cabernet Sauvignon. The meal was excellent and my only lament is that I live across the ocean from this place!

Yelp
Great location and robust pub menu in a great atmosphere with a fantastic live Irish music seisiún..

Yelp
Amazing! Everything was perfection. The staff is very friendly and helpful and Wade, the chef, greeted everyone! The atmosphere is gorgeous, set in a cottage built in 1826 on main street. The food is the best that we've ever had in Ireland (and we have been lucky enough to go 4 times). Very reasonable prices for the quality of service and food! Can't recommend them enough!

Yelp
I went to this place after getting a recommendation from someone I met here in Ireland. It was never mentioned reservations were required from the conversation or the research I did online. We waited all Saturday for it to open at 6:00 pm and when we arrived at 6:11 pm we were told reservations were required. The place was COMPLETELY empty and the host was snotty. I will never come again.

Yelp
Fantastic service, presentation and taste of food was excellent. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
All the travel guides pointed us to 1826 as the place to eat in Adare. From other reviews on Yelp, we learned that we should make reservations, I had our hotel connect us to the restaurant around 4pm of the day we wanted to dine. Unfortunately, they did not have open reservations for 7pm, but were able to get us in at 6:30 with the caveat that we were to stay no later than 8:30pm. I have never had a restaurant tell me there was a time limit on my dining experience anywhere that I have traveled in the world, I was a little concerned about the quality of service that we would receive. We went through with our reservation and were seated in the first room upon entering which included bench seating along the walls. My husband and I chose the bench seating and were put directly over a heating vent that became uncomfortably hot over the course of dinner. All 4 of us in our party chose to order from the daily specials menu, two of us had Atlantic halibut and two had the pheasant dish. Everyone agreed that the food was delicious, my husband said that his halibut was a tad overcooked, but mine was done perfectly. We ordered two brownies to share for dessert and they were enjoyable. All in all our experience dining here was a pleasant one, despite the time cap we were not rushed at any point during our meal and the restaurant had a nice atmosphere. This restaurant is on the more expensive side compared to pub eating, but was worth a stop while in town.

Yelp
All of the food we ordered was incredible! By far one of our best meals during our trip throughout all of southern Ireland. We were the last guests in the restaurant on a weekday and did not feel rushed out at all. In fact, we were able to stay after our meal and have a great conversation with Elaine, the manager/co-owner/chef's wife. If you're going to be in Adare, you should definitely stop here.
