1835 Studios in Sherman Heights Launching Urban Food Truck Park - Eater San Diego

"Emerging during the pandemic, where it opened on the edge of downtown San Diego in the Sherman Heights, 1835 Studios was built to serve as a cultural hub, art gallery, and community space to provide area artists and entrepreneurs with the means to develop and grow their businesses. It combines 7,000-square-feet of creative studios, galleries, and retail units with over 10,000-square-feet of outdoor space, which has hosted a wide range of events including their frequent Sunday markets, which feature DJs, art, shopping, and food from local pop-ups and caterers including Froviche Seafood and The Fast Food Company. Inspired by Tijuana’s Telefonica Gastro Park, co-founder Chip Fleming says they’re working to turn an adjacent lot into a food truck park that will bring more dining options to the neighborhood. Also incorporating an outdoor climbing gym, the space will house a rotating roster of food trucks as well a mobile cafe from Barrio Logan coffee roaster Por Vida. Fleming says the food truck hub should be up and running by mid-May, and tells Eater that he and his partners at CoActivate, their local real estate operations company, have several other properties in the area that they’d like potentially like to develop into additional food service facilities, from a commercial kitchen or a culinary school to another food truck park." - Candice Woo

Amazing little art studio. Attended breathwork there. So relaxing. We were outside and it was hard to believe we were in the middle of the city. Great vibe all the way around. Thank you for creating such a welcoming environment 🙏🙏🙏

The owner provided such an amazing and comfortable space for my baby shower I recently had. The venue is so beautiful and has a lot of space, where the children can run around safely. Definitely a recommendation.

This space absolutely radiates creative energy. It manages to represent the heart of San Diego through its selection of creators entrepreneurs and innovators. The floor plan is open and spacious and allows those creative juices to start flowing. Completely in love with the design of this space.

Do not do business here. AFTER I signed a contract for an all ages event and I payed half the fees, they decided to change their policy to 21+ only. After a long debate I only got them to continue the event if I didn’t list the address of the venue. Which I claimed would decrease ticket sales, and the genius on the other end said of course it won’t. Then they continued to state that if they got noise complaints they would not be responsible. Their only product (the event space) they couldn’t even guarantee! They had many other demands and eventually I was forced to cancel the gig as I would lose money because of their mistakes! They are rude and have no interest in any party but their own.

Yelp
This venue exceeds our expectations. The creative vibe behind behind this place is extremely impressive. On the edge of down town, super convinient to Uber to for guests and extremely private considering it's outdoor and the location. The staff is nice and accommodating and everything went so extremely smooth with them. 10/10 will be coming back here for my future events.

Yelp
Unique & creative space offering a myriad of local artists & events. Our event there last week supporting local artist Allison Davis & her fine art gallery was a success. Our guests had a delightful experience & I would certainly be interested in supporting another local artist there again soon. **I do want to mention parking can be sketchy, so an uber or carpool situation would be best!

Yelp
Beautiful establishment with a open setting. We loved the venue and we look forward to doing business with them in the future.
