Man! Jake is the best. It’s hard to believe he was an apprentice just last year. Jake’s unbelievable attention to detail, passion for the craft, and natural hospitality are truly second to none. In the world of men’s salons, it’s hard to find a barber that knows how to cut and style hair beyond the clippers and buzz fades. Jake is this anomaly. In the 3 times I have visited, Jake has exhibited nothing short of excellence cutting my much longer hair. After my visit yesterday, I received numerous compliments with several close friends saying this was the best haircut I’ve ever received in Dallas! Can’t recommend Jake enough to anyone seeking excellence in a barber!

I have pretty curly hair and I go to salons and barbers all the time and they never get my hair quite right; however, today is the first day I walked out of a salon looking better than when I went in. I got exactly what I asked for and everything was followed perfectly. I even got advice for my hair and was walked through each step. Couldn’t be happier, highly recommend. Super friendly and customer service was amazing. Shout out to Parker!

Tre was very thorough asking me what I wanted, pointed out potential issues and gave me a few options. After everything was completed I was very happy with my cut and definitely recommend this dude. He is great!

My stylist was engaging and kind. I’m 54 years old, and it was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had at a salon. Even though it was my first time there, both my stylist and the entire staff made me feel like an old friend. They allowed my dog Lexi to sit in my lap during my haircut, obviously under the apron. It means a lot to me that they both respected Lexi, and myself.

Jake did a great job! I’ve been struggling to find a barber that actually listens to what I want. Jake listened, gave me some advice for strengthening my hair, and then gave an excellent haircut. I will definitely be coming back.

Can't remember the last time I was this satisfied with my haircut. Adriana is a super friendly barber that is well experienced in men's hair. From the initial planning to the execution, I knew I could fully trust her and the end product was nothing less from great. Having a cold beer in my hand while getting the hair cut is always a nice bonus as well. Thank you all and see you again soon when I'm back in Dallas.

Due to my business travels I end up being new at most salons, but I have to say I will not be visiting this location again. Dont get me wrong, I like my haircut, nothing special about it, #2 on the sides and a good trim on top. No frills or thrills, so when I went to the counter to pay, to say that I was shocked by the $44.00 plus tip fee is an understatement. I honestly thought it would be the typical 20 to 25 bucks... but 44 dollars? Wow!! I was happy to pay the 6.00 tip and walk out of there to never return. Too rich for my likings..

Was formerly a fan but did not appreciate being taken advantage of on my last visit. They have a Groupon offer for two haircuts that specifically says it is valid with any stylist, but they in fact will only redeem for their lowest tier of stylist. You get two different sets of availability when you call. If you just ask about availability, they can get you in within a few hours. If you are redeeming an offer, suddenly the next available opening may be 2-3 days out. It's a shame because the people and haircuts are great, it's just a terrible way to do business.

Great service, my boyfriend loved it! Very classy and chic salon. The lady at the front desk was very nice! Overall, great men's salon, my boyfriend loves his new haircut!

Really High Turn-Over I have been getting my hair cut here for a while. Even have referred multiple family and friends to this location. That said, most of the positive reviews you see on Yelp are on stylist who are no longer there. I paid for the "membership" and for the 3rd time, my stylist is now gone. I was a good sport, came in and tried a new one yet again, and it was unfortunately not a good cut at all. Clearly someone very new. (She was super nice, just obviously has not been cutting hair long) Spending that much for a cut requires someone with experience. I asked to get a refund on my unused cuts, and they said no can do. Really unfortunate, that they have issues with management where they cant keep people there, and happy. Be careful if you go here, and know that you need to not get too attached to a stylist, as they will likely not be there long.

I rarely do reviews but I have to do this one. I used to go to another Men's Salon with good reviews in the same area. I was paying an expensive price and I was never really satisfied. However this place is different! I'm usually a picky guy when it comes to haircuts so I was a little apprehensive but I figured that I had to change . The minute I talked to Jamie for the first time I could tell right away she knew what she was saying. She's fantastic and it's really hard for me to say that. It seems there is a clear difference from 18|8 professionals compared to the place I used to go. You can tell the difference. I've been having my haircut there for a few months now and I'm glad I found this place!

I came into this shop after taking a look at the nearby areas and let me say how awesome this barbershop is. Stephany was phenomenal! I keep a low fade with some length on top which isn't easy to do properly, but she nailed it. The fade was perfect but she also knows how to scissor and properly cut the hair with length on top. A good haircut means a lot to me and I'm nervous about finding a good spot. New to town, I am coming back here. See Stephany!

This salon went over and above to help my sons find their perfect haircuts. Lucinda cut and styled each of my identical twin sons. They left feeling they had gained individuality and style. they were each taught how to fix their new cuts as well. thank you to 18 8 for making this a memorable and fun time for them and polishing their looks up so skillfully.. They were treated like kings!!!

I am coming to this Salon since last year. I was hunting for a professional after my personal Barbar retires. Stephanie ROCKS!!!!!!!. Her attention to details is totally phenomenal . It's a long drive from my home and work but I don't mind a bit because it's worth it.Keep it up

I seriously cannot say enough good things about Jamie. Her attention to detail is phenomenal, she really cares about making sure her clients have the perfect cut that matches what they want to see. And her personality is amazing too - always an upbeat attitude and super fun to talk to! I've been going to Jamie for almost a year now and last month I finally paid for the membership - completely worth it! Jamie's care for her clients plus her amazing work cutting and styling made it one of the best choices I've ever made!

Did a research here on Yelp to get my bf a better place to get a hair cut. Chose 18/8 Walnuthill. They are good as the review says. We booked Fatisha and she did a good job. The hair is well blended. He got the Executive cut. It comes with some scalp and neck massage. We had a groupon- and you know what that means - gotta tip good. We also bought some Crew Shampoo there which we should have not. The Shampoo is cheaper at Wal-Mart. They are on time. So be on time. When we got in there Becca welcomed us well and offered beverages. You can have tea, coffee,wine booze. My boyfriend loved the experience. He will be back again and again.

I researched a good place to get my 17 yr old son's haircut. I purposefully booked a regular haircut instead of a student haircut with a master stylist because I was willing to pay full price for a good haircut. My son had let his hair grow long and he wanted to get it a lot shorter. I was nervous about sending him to one of the normal chain haircut places. The lady with the salon called me the night before to confirm and she asked how old my son was. I said he was 17 and she said "oh, I'll change it to a student haircut." I told he that I booked the regular full price haircut because I really needed him to get a good haircut. She then mentioned that he should come in 15 min earlier so the stylist would have more time. She NEVER mentioned that she changed the appointment to a different stylist (one of the lowest tier stylists). When he arrived (and he was late because he was caught in traffic) and I realized he was with another stylist I said that he was supposed to be booked with Jaime they fumbled around for an explanation, but didn't really have one. They just acted confused. Also putting me in an awkward situation with the stylist they put him with who now, of course, probably has her feelings hurt that I wanted someone else to cut his hair. So now she was just trying to get him out of there. What I don't appreciate the most is their dishonesty. It would have been so much better had they said "Jaime wanted to cut a regular customer's hair instead" or "Jaime overbooked" or "Jaime wanted to leave early" or whatever their reasoning was to put my son with some other stylist. Just tell the truth. It works out so much better that way. Oh, and the haircut wasn't good either.

I travel the country every week I'm in a different state. Once a month I get a haircut somewhere across the nation. I tend to stick with the Barbershop that specialize in men's haircuts. I like the straight razors, hot towels, and hospitality that you get at a men's barbershop. Well let me tell you this has by far one of the BEST shops I have ever been too. They start out with offering you a drink soda, wine, beer, coffee. Then they have you put a robe on to keep the hair off your clothes. Head and neck massage followed by a great haircut from people that know what their doing. Shannon cut my hair today and she did better then what I was asking plus she was super friendly. I guarantee that whenever I am in Dallas I will be coming here to get my hair cut. Thank you Shannon!!

I've been coming to Stephany for 2 years and I'm always beyond satisfied with my hair cut! Eighteen eight is a great salon with knowledgeable staff with current and classic haircuts. I've been coming to 18/8 for the past five months for beard trims. I want to steal a few lines from Ken H in regards to Fatisha. "If Yelp would let me give her 6 stars I gladly would. Fatisha's like a hair ninja." I want to invest in 19/9 when it opens, I want to be rich too. Fatishas awesome customer service, great attitude, funny personality all lend to her ability to sculpt a beard. So much attention to detail, I absolutely love this kid!! I will come back as long as she is there and I have a beard.

Just got a men's haircut at 18/8 for the first time. This was probably the best haircut I've ever had in terms of style advice, attention to detail, and the whole nine yards. Thanks Stephany for a great haircut and experience. I'll 150% be back and highly recommend to other gents looking to step up their game. I usually go to other chain men's hair salon's, but I'm converted to 18/8. The prices are only moderately higher than other standard places, but the actual haircuts are WAY BETTER and more along the lines of having a personal hair stylist who pays extreme attention to detail. PROS- Attentive modern haircuts, beverages available while you wait, and barbers on staff if you need a beard clean up or shave CONS- Honestly, there are no cons to list. The price was fair and definitely worth the service. Even if you're frugal like me you'll love this place.

Fantastic. Several months ago finally made the switch from waiting forever at Sport Clips, supercuts, etc for inconsistent and below average cuts/customer service. I have been so happy with 18 8 at preston hollow village and especially Ginger who is the best! She is super nice and consistently does exceptional work. Absolutely worth a little extra to not have to wait, get the perfect haircut everytime, have great customer service, and a good experience.

Lucero is amazing. She's extremely talented with any type of cut and extremely meticulous. Highly recommend Lucero.

Skeptical when I first came here, but I've had 3 different stylists and they've all given me the cut I wanted. Just now, Alex even gave me tips on my beard/neck line that I didn't even come in looking for. I feel like I look damn good when I walk out of this place. Thanks, y'all!

I bring my son here to get his haircut. Location is great and they do a decent job. I will say this... for a "fine men's " salon and branding it that way, the front area shouldn't have dirty rugs w hair everywhere nor should the people that work there dress like they just got out of a Deep Ellum music festival or a tattoo shop. Nothing wrong w piercings and blue or pink hair and tank tops but if you are working at a "fine men's salon" you should dress for the brand and keep the front area rugs and floors clean. The employees appearance bring the brand down.

I have been a client of Shannon's before she moved to the new location in Preston Hollow Village. I now travel three times the distance to see her, because she is worth it. It's great to know that I have finally found a great barber. Shannon is meticulous in making certain her clients look their best. I've been coming here for a little over 2 years and my hairstylist Lucero has never disappointed once in a haircut. The atmosphere is very calm, the front desk workers are always friendly. I would recommend coming here to all my friends.

Do yourself a favor and go see Demetria at 18/8. She shows so much attention to detail and I leave with a great haircut each time. After spending two years searching for a good barber in Dallas, I started considering that I was being too picky. I'm so glad I didn't settle and finally found one I can trust to do a great job every time!

Price vs skill is far off as apparently not everyone is a barber there. Maybe just my experience but subpar enthusiasm from staff and inexperienced hands on the blades and scissors left me driving back to my old barber 40 min away in Arlington to fix my hair.

Just experienced my first straight razor shave from Stephany. I am hooked! Adding it to my regular routine! It was outstanding! And Stephany really has a wonderful touch.

My first haircut with Fatisha was a great first impression, and I will entrust her to continue doing good work by being a return customer. I have been trying to allow my hair to grow a bit longer, though the awkward stage can be difficult to overcome. She immediately understood what I wanted and, having a professional sense for what a client's hair is inclined to do, was able to explain what options would be best. I am proud of my haircut, and I know that if I wanted something entirely different, Fatisha would be able to do that with just as much ease. As far as the price and quality equation, I believe they are aligned. The services here are rather expensive compared to what I used to consider appropriate to my needs. However, I think I received my money's worth.

Another fine haircut to report. Fatisha was my stylist. Service was prompt and professional. She provides a mean fade and made my beard look even prettier than it already is. Relaxing music, delicious Shiner beer on draught, and some interesting hand cream in the bathroom add to this establishment's charm. If you're getting a shave, they'll suggest that you remove your shirt in a private room so that you can out on a robe. Reasonably priced, certainly much better than what I've been quoted at similar types of establishments. All in all, a pleasant and relaxing experience. It's also located in a nice and new shopping center (Preston Hollows). Highly recommended.

I've been going here for almost a year now and had a fantastic experience every time until this morning. I called yesterday to setup an appointment for today and was given a 10:15 am appointment and stylist since mine has left them but that was fine. I sh ow up at 10:15 and I'm told they have no appointment for me. I'm asked if I called that location and thinking hey maybe I made a mistake I pull up my call log and they verify that it is their number and the stylist I was told Abdul does work there. But I was being treated like I had made a mistake, no apologies, no attempt to accommodate. And the kicker is the guy at the desk when I went in, I'm pretty sure he's the one who took my call, sadly they have lost this customer, it's a shame because in this day and age booking shouldn't be what fails a haircut business that is clearly marketing and pricing as a premium experience.

This place is phenomenal. Ginger did a super great job! Funny, entertaining, great restaurant references...overall super experience and oh the haircut it was ok.... no just kidding. It was AWESOME

7 days later...I'm still fuming over this experience. My hair is ridiculous. I asked for specific sizes and I was given what the barber thought she wanted to give me. I asked for 3/4 of an inch to be taken off the top, and she took off over an inch. Asked for a 2 on the sides and was given some sort of fade. I asked to keep the same style I had prior and was given the most generic haircut you could imagine. If you didn't know what you were doing, you should have asked. If I wasn't clear with what I wanted, you should have asked for clarity.

Awesome atmosphere right when you walk in. They have beer on tap and coffee. They will make you feel like royalty when you're there. Awesome haircuts at a reasonable price. I had Ginger cut my hair and she hooked me up

Michelle was my hair stylist, and she was fantastic. We talked about everything from Kid Rock, to dueling piano bars. I will definitely be going back to her, and I recommend the establishment in general. They offer advice for your hair when you're clueless like me on how to style it. Also, everybody gets to wear a robe while getting their haircut, and they provide shampoo/conditioning service for free during each cut. The place is right next to Trader Joes; right off the highway. Although with tip you are looking at about $50, I think hair is something that people always underestimate in terms of professional appearance. Do yourself a favor, and make the investment.

I am very pleased with the service provided by Tammy. She provided an excellent hair cut and great massage of my scalp, neck and shoulders. The massage was very relaxing and refreshing. She has a very friendly personality and demonstrates total commitment to personalized care. The salon offers a wide menu of options that are very appealing. This location opened very recently in July 2015 and I expect that there will be plenty of regular clients in the coming months and years.

See Stephany. She's got major clipper skills. Mind you, the prices HAVE gone up, and are premium rates at $53 bucks a cut, but to get the proper 3 step fade, with fine hair like I have, it's worth it. Every cut is nice and clean.

This hair salon was pretty elegant. Real professional style. Walk-in and you are immediately greeted, then they'll offer you a drink from sodas to coffee. I showed up earlier than my appointment and I did have a wait time to get my haircut. Executive cut is nice it's full package haircut, hot towel on your face. They offer some student discounts well when I went. I told my hairstylist I was studying school and at the end of the haircut she told she was going to tell the receptionist to give me a discount

Alex is Spectacular!! She cut my sons hair who was in a car accident in January, as a result he has a Traumatic Brain Injury. It was his 1st hair cut since the injury. She was so sweet & gentle cutting his hair. She is Amazing at her job! She is just a great person and it shows in her work. She also has awesome pink hair!! Thanks Alex

This location is in a relatively new shopping center anchored by a Trader Joe's. I learned that my stylist Maribel works here so I booked an appointment. She's a great stylist, always giving me a cut that fits me perfectly. The salon itself is very nice. I like how each chair is semi private with its own wash basin.

First time going and was very impressed. The interior is very modern and chic. I typically go to a sports clips, but I was referred here by one of the employees actually. I had the opportunity for Abdul to cut my hair and let me tell you, that man is an artist. He'll know exactly what you're looking for with just a few simple questions. The experience was superb from the cut and wash to the final inspections. Abdul took his time to make sure everything looked perfect, that I really appreciated rather than some nation wide chain that just wants to turn clients quickly for more money. I highly recommend this place to any guy that's looking for a new place to get their hair cut and styled. The classic haircut is $39, more than the average chain store, but it is well worth the investment for yourself. Because you do only live once and it's a great way to "Treat Yo Self".

Stephany has been cutting my hair every month for the passed 2+years and it is perfect every time. Service here is overall great and I've never had a complaint. Plus it's nice to get a beer with your haircut after a long days work.

I don't know how helpful this review will be helpful, but from my perspective a salon is only as good as the person standing behind you cutting your hair. Personally I couldn't care less about the mimosas, beer or beverages, I mean I am going to get me hair cut right. But if you are looking for the whole uptown feel and enjoy the softer things then regardless of the cut you get you will be happy. I have long, thick unruly hair that i have struggled with for years, I got to the point where I stopped cutting my hair until I could find a stylist who actually listened and provided the correct feedback prior to just giving the style on most recent cover of GQ. After months of calling places high and low I found Abdul and he assured me he knew how to deal with my hair. Scheduled an appointment and we looked at my hair for about 15 min and discussing my wants and previous issues in getting it to do what i wanted. He then basically created a 6 month plan to get my hair to where I wanted it to be. Now here we are 6 months later and I could not be happier, personally I hope I am never seen coming in or out of this pace (not one for being pampered), but Abdul is just great. If he leaves so do my 5 stars.

Think it's the best haircut I've ever had. Everyone was really friendly and the stylish didn't try to rush you in and out like Floyd's. Much more relaxing. Ask for Michelle Defranco, she was great and I'll be asking for her again.

This place seems like it should be run by professionals but my haircut was not at all what I had hoped for. It was pretty close to the complete opposite of what I wanted. Would not recommend. Much better salons for a similar price near it.

A friend of mine recommended this place since I was looking for some style tips as well as a great barber. My experience here was the best I have ever had while getting my hair cut. The service was outstanding and the place is really modern with a very professional yet laid back vibe to it. Plus, they have Shiner on tap. If you are a first time customer you get the executive cut which includes a hair cut, straight edge shave to the back of the hairline, hot towel treatment, shampoo, and a hot stone massage. Awesome deal for only $39 for your first time. My barber, Hans, informed me that he had only been there for 3 weeks while he was cutting my hair. This location made the right decision and hired a very personable barber who did a great job, by far the best hair cut and experience of my life. Not only did he know exactly what he was doing with my hair, he offered some styling tips as well as made me comfortable while I was in the chair. I will be returning to 18|8 whenever I need my haircut and I will be asking from Hans for now on. It is nice to finally have a barber that genuinely cares about his work. One suggestion to the shop manager: I came in when it was cold outside so I had my jacket. I did not see anywhere to set my jacket so I had to set it on Hans work area, which I don't mind, but as a professional I am sure it is nice to be able to have your whole work area cleared for your instruments. Maybe look into getting a knob to put on each stylists work area so their patrons can hang their jackets up? Not a complaint, just a suggestion. This place is awesome and it is definitely money well spent. Hans - thank you for the great cut. I will be seeing you again!
