8 Best BBQ Places in Dallas | Condé Nast Traveler

"The best of Kansas City can be sampled here—from juicy, fall-of-the-bone ribs to double-smoked burnt ends—but the fact that this restaurant has a wine list at all should be a huge indicator that this is not your typical barbecue joint. Make a reservation to attend one of the restaurant's weekend jazz brunches and sample unique dishes like rib hash, chipped beef on toast, or a pulled pork burrito. Plus, it's one of the few Dallas BBQ joints with full sit-down service." - David Landsel, Diana Oates

Loved the experience. The bbq ribs were really good, Kansas style. The cocktails were delicious. The decor and ambiance is so cozy and sexy. The vintage jazz and blues singers artwork was breathtaking. The robot bringing your food is very cool. Our server, was awesome! I plan to return soon! 5 stars!

Atmosphere: Upscale uptown barbecue Service: Knowledgeable, amiable and understated Food: Wanted to be impressed, but it was hit or miss. The fried okra appetizer had me excited, and the presentation was innovative. Unfortunately, it was a bit stringy in tex ture, but the flavor was great. Our waiter gracious traded it out for the pork rinds. Hands down the best part of the meal - so fresh they were still popping on the table. The half chicken was mildly flavored, tender and small. I had a small Caesar salad to go with, which was fine. My friend had the Lester, a brisket grilled cheese, it was tasty, but not exceptional. He hardly touched the side of pit beans. The website says, "this is the best food you'll eat in your life." Sorry, it was good, but no where near that. Pricing: Expensive $45 for the items above, with 2 teas

Impressive presentation. The quality in food was beyond good and the atmosphere was perfect. The sauce tastes a little more carolina style rather than kc style to me- but it's an opinion. I wish the burnt ends weren't doused in the sweet bbq sauce, but they were good! Hey KC folks- THEY HAVE BOULEVARD WHEAT ON TAP! The fried okra was phenomenal! I love the jalapeno cheesy grits as well. Friendly and professional service helped with our fantastic experience.

18th & Vine was the best BBQ in Dallas and one of the best BBQ places I have been in the country. We took the recommendation of the staff an started with the split ends. They came with a coating of BBQ sauce, pickled onions and pickles. The split ends were tender, smokey and juicy. (We ended up ordering two) we had the two meats and sides meal. We ordered brisket and ribs with sides of mac & cheese and greens. The ribs were tender with smoke flavor and held to the bone just enough. The brisket was tender, smoke and great flavor. Mac & cheese was ok, I personally like more real cheese blended in. The greens had good flavor with a bit to them. For desert we had the fried apple pie on a cinnamon cream base. It was amazing. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. All around it was an excellent experience.

Not my cup of sweet tea, unfortunately. Sausage had a soft and crumbly texture but everyone agreed it had great flavor. Brisket, pulled pork and ribs were ok. Chicken was dry. Sides were a bit more mixed. Mac n cheese was underwhelming, beans were tiny, smoked salmon board was interesting, fried okra was good but the fried came out soggy. The desserts saved the meal. The Peach Crumble was amazing and came out warm with a nice crunchy crumble. Fried apple pies are more like empanadas but also good. Banana pudding was decent. Overall decor and ambiance was clean, white rustic but the odd thing was the bottles used to house the BBQ sauce. I like that they reused 360 vodka bottles but it’s purely for aesthetics and impractical. The BBQ sauce is hard to get out (think glass ketchup bottles but with an even narrower neck) and the added annoyance of the lid flopping in the way of the pour.

Ordered a brisket grilled cheese sandwich called The Lester & a cocktail - Pink Moon. The Lester ($15.50) came with a choice of side & I chose fries, but it feels like the fries came with a side of sandwich. Great way to fill you up without feeding you much. The sandwich was good, though. Pink Moon ($10) was satisfactory, tasted like grapefruit. My server, Erika, did great - 10/10. Would recommend eating here before it closes.

I honestly wasn't expecting much from 18th & Vine but I was more than pleasantly surprised. We ate at the bar and had a great conversation with the bartender, who made me a couple of great vodka tonics, about the history of the restaurant. We started with the fried okra and it was so much more than I expected. I don't know what they used, but they were lightly battered and fried whole to a perfect Chrisp. I can honestly say that they have the best fried okra I've ever had and the portion is huge. I had the 2 meat plate and choose the ribs and the chicken along with collard greens. The chicken was nice and smokey and the ribs were good. The bartender, wish I remembered his name, told me ahead of time that the green were somewhat sweet and vinegary (not sure that's a word). I said what the hell and went with them anyway and glad that I did because they were good. My brother had the brisket, sausage, and brussel sprouts which he also said were good. In summation, this place is a gem and I'll definitely return again soon.
