18th Street Brewery & Distillery

18th street brewery and distillery isn't in the neighborhood it's part of the neighborhood. From having events like a Back to the 80's party to hosting festival of the lakes launch party to coming in clutch during covid and making hand sanitizer and giving to neighbors in need when none could be found on store shelves and haven't even got to the amazing beer! I've never had a bad one here! Plus now they have amazing pizza too!!

This place was interesting. One door leads to the cocktail bar, and the other door leads to the brewery. So we started out with a cocktail, the bartender was very nice and helpful, the drinks definitely packed a punch, and the place was clean and classy. Then we went over to the brewery for lunch and more drinks. The entire staff were super happy and friendly. Which seems rare now a days. But it's definitely very welcoming. The food was delicious, the drinks were great, it was a nice place and we will definitely be back!

I finally made the trip. My friend and I were celebrating my birthday late (9/11) on 9/27. Our bartender was awesome! The food deal of the day was a burger 🍔 with white cheddar, cherries and bacon jam on a brioche bun, fries 🍟, a shot 🥃 and a beer 🍺 for $22. Everything was fantastic!

Amazing beers, everything we had from them was good. Only got appetizers this time, but the cheese curds were amazing. Atmosphere is great, staff was super friendly. The waitress even gave us suggestions of where to go locally after they closed. The outdoor patio is great for the summer, they have a bag set, and bocci ball, with several picnic tables, and are dog friendly. A+++ We will definitely be back despite the fact that it's a 50 minute drive for us.

I stopped by for lunch at the bar and I was very happy with everything. The beers were good, but the sandwich was amazing. I had their fried pork sando, and the pork cutlet on this was huge and wonderfully crispy. The brioche bun almost feels just like a handle for the meat, but the pickles and sauce complemented the fried pork nicely. I ordered quite a bit, but I was very happy with it all. The bartender was friendly and quick to handle the customers too.

Jerry the bartender was fantastic. Great conversation, old school vibes. Non woke PC. FANTASTIC BREWS. Jerry and the man cooking took care of the peddling bike crowd like champs. Definitely be back in the future. The owner needs to give you both a raise 🤙

Seems like could be a good place and will give it another chance, but ........... They were out of several breakfast items as well as bacon. We had to wait, but they got at least the bacon delivered. Our server was very sweet, but mixed up our order quite a bit. Kitchen was slow and did not include all the ingredients listed on menu for food items. Guess they were out? Didn't push it as both server and kitchen were obviously having a hard time. Too many IPAs on the beer menu for most of our group and not nearly enough other beer choices. Might be seasonal thing? Hope to try again as I did want to like this place.

Love love love this brewery! The beers here are great! I tried four different beers while I was there and all four were good! The food is great! I had the ghost pepper burger and loved it. The atmosphere at this place is great! And finally the service at this place was great! I totally recommend this place if you are looking for good beer and food!

Beer tasty. They do offer half pours (although the menu doesn't list that) The quality of the paper menus that were handed to us was not that legible. It was like they made a copy of multiple copies. Service was friendly. Bartender was also busy changing out multiple kegs while trying to serve guests at the bar. She was friendly. There was one server wearing a winter knit cap (in July) pouring beer for her tables instead of helping out her coworker with the guests. Inside was very dark. One female and one male restroom.

I recently visited 18th Street Distillery and it was definitely worth the trip. Located in a brick building next to the Hammond Police Department, it might be a bit tricky to find at night, but during the day, it's easily accessible. The staff welcomed us warmly and gave us a rundown of their menu and products. We started off with some cocktails, although I can't recall the names. They were so good that I finished mine in less than 6 minutes, and my sister was even faster! We also tried a second round of different cocktails, which were just as impressive. The decor of the distillery was lovely, and I especially liked the picturesque bar. The people next to us ordered food and seemed to enjoy it. My sister tried the wings and loved them, so she's looking forward to ordering them again. I'm planning to return in the next few weeks, and I hope to see Lorraine and Anissa working because they are truly amazing.

My boyfriend and I went here for a date night and we absolutely loved it! The cocktails were incredible, service was fantastic, and the cheese curds were so well seasoned and delicious. I was so pleasantly surprised to find this place as I'm not originally from Hammond or even live near there, so this was a nice treat when we visited. I already can't wait for our next visit to this place to try more of their cocktails.

have to start by saying, we felt very welcome the minute we walked in the door and greeted by Makayla, We got our orders in right away, beers as always were exceptional and food was excellent as well. Jerry came over introduced himself and treated us like family. We 100% will return and we live in Oak Park Illinois. We rarely leave reviews, however, this time we felt it was a must... We have been here a number of times, however, this is my first review. I wanted to make sure that I added a picture. It's nice and dim inside and they do have a patio seating area outdoors. This is a great place to ride your bike to. They have a nice variety of beer and other drinks. They offer a House beer and shot of 18th St. distillery, rye whiskey for $7. They have the best poutine that I have ever tasted, but they no longer offer that. Last night we had the cheese curds which were greasy and had too much breading on them. We have always had friendly bartenders, and last night was no exception. I also hear they have a great running club on Wednesday nights. I'd like to check that out.

Originally went just for the brewery and food, which were great! pork belly bites tasted amazing, the chicken sando was really juicy and flavorful. my boyfriend and father got the friday special BBB, pretty good deal whiskey and a beer with a special burger and fries for $20 but the blue cheese in the burgers were a little too much but whadda gonna do? it's just how they're made. also really good service:) the 3 stars is because of the distillery next door. easily the worst drinks all three of us had. $12 for a old fashion with a LEMON? just didn't taste right. i got the girl bye girl from their special pride month menu. WORST cocktail i have EVER had. and the last drink was a basic mule, and that wasn't even done right, had a over smoked flavor. maybe the bartenders just inexperienced who knows?

Decent beers, decent food, decent cocktails. The woman behind the bar was very nice. Not a huge selection but good enough. Not many food choices for people who don't eat meat - vegetarians, pescatarians, and vegans beware. I am pescatarian and they have zero seafood on the menu. My choices were nachos, cheese curds, and soft pretzel. I had the nachos but I was hungry an hour later. Cool space. The greatest hip hop / R & B hits of all time playing. I don't listen to that music and I knew every song. Clean bathrooms.

Such a gem in Hammond! We have always heard of 18th streets beer but nothing beats getting it on tap. We stopped by their taproom which is also connected to their distillery. Make sure you walk through the right door, they're two separate rooms in the same building! My husband got the flight to try a little of everything. With their flights, you get to select 6 beers. They were all pretty good! We also ordered the ghost pepper burger with fries and the cheese curds. The burger was good, but the fries were a little lacking. The cheese curds were unique but good! We'll definitely returned for the beer!

Really great place, great bourbon and great food!. Bartender and staff have a great service and explained everything they do and how they do it. And last, the ambience is really nice and good music.

I love this place so much. The vibeeeee. These drinks are strong and affordable. And tasty. These aren't just bartenders these are drink masters do you hear me. Here for the 5 year anniversary and I'm so glad to be here.

This is a super cool and trendy little spot in the neighborhood. Great for quick meetups with a friend or a first date spot. The drinks and food were decent, I think next time I'm going to try something neat instead of the cocktails, but the cocktails weren't bad.

Came here to meet some friends as a halfway point. Beer selection seems small for the size of the joint. Food selection definitely small. fried cheese curds were fantastic. The rest of the food lacked flavor. Service was slow despite being pretty empty.

When I first tried it, I was surprised. The food is great. It seems like a nice vibe inside, but I only did carry out. I feel like the portions could be bigger, but that's just me being greedy. I'd recommend this place.

This place is a bit confusing since there are separate entrances for the 18th Street Distillery vs the Brewery, but I am only seeing the Brewery on Yelp. I had seen some of their cocktails on social media, so I was excited to give them a try. I met a couple people there, and we all managed to go to the Brewery side initially, so I was confused looking over the menu and not seeing the cocktails I'd expected to see. I asked the server, and she explained that we had to go outside and enter in the other door. I'm not a beer drinker, so I waited while everyone else finished their beers so we could go next door to the Distillery. We tried several of the drinks on the menu and enjoyed everything. It's really awesome to see a place like this in Hammond, and I can't wait to go back.

My hide away spot. The people that work there are the best, the food is okay, but that is made up by the beer, & the whiskey bar next door.

They have a great selection of craft beer and cocktails. 18th Street distillery is right next door so we had a cocktail there's ad well. The service was quick and attentive.

This place was really laid back. I've been wanting to come here for a while, so me and hubby went for a date night. There were two different entrances too. One was just basically the bar however you could order food there. The other was more of a restaurant type setup. Two different menus as well. The food was hot and delicious. My husband enjoyed his burger and I enjoyed my fish and chips. The service was great as well. They were really friendly and recommended my drink since I like the fruity stuff. I was a little tipsy afterwards too I def will be going back.

I like this place and the beer is good but the menu is underwhelming. Also positive is the staff was super friendly and helpful and I love the atmosphere. Beer garden looks cool too but we were there in December. As I already said the menu is pretty small. We were there around open, 11 am or so, and they were out of the Buffalo chicken sandwich, the Cuban, and anything with pork. We are living in some crazy, challenging times so I'm sure there is a good reason they were out of that stuff but that makes it tough with an already small menu. We were basically left to decide between a salad, burgers, grill cheese and cheese quesadillas. Also fyi, pop comes in cans. The appetizers were good, small, but good. The curds were better than the pretzel in my opinion. Also, I loved my burger, adding the bacon and egg is is for sure the right way thing to do. My oldest didn't like the sauce on the burger but he's a teenager, what does he know. If you have an eater like that you may want to order without the sauce. The tots and fries were both pretty good. My youngers had the cheese quesadilla and I thought that was honestly pretty good and good size as well. Favorite beer hands down was Here comes the Reaper, but I also thought the Bait n Switch, and Vanilla Stout were very good. Definitely get yourself a flight or two, we'll worth it.

I like the beer alot from 18th street but the food could have been better. I got the burger it was huge and very good, the wings were very good too, but my son got the Buffalo Mac with chicken it was tiny.

They have a distillery and a brewery. So we went to the distillery side first. It is a very sophisticated atmosphere. I like this for drinks with your date during the day, date night, with friends. We went shortly after they opened on Saturday afternoon. The experience on this side is a bit more elevated. It is not large. Has a nice size bar and about 4 tables. Service was great! Really liked the service. Definitely going back. I am a gin girl and they had some great gin drinks on the menu, about 3-4 of them. The food menu is nice. I would say more like speakeasy lite bites. We ordered the spinach artichoke dip and it was good. Then we left out the door, went outside and went to the brewery side. The brewery side is bigger. I think they were a brewery first. They have an outside and inside. The menu on this side is more substantial like burgers and burrito. They do have some non beer drinks on the menu. I did try one of there beers. It's nice they have a variety and have one for us simple people who like a simple beer. Service over here was great as well. We had the burrito and a double cheeseburger. Very tasty. Found out it was a black owned brewery and distillery and wanted to come and support. The food and drinks were great and also with great service. Will be back.

We stopped by on a weekday afternoon on our way home from the beach. We sat on their patio, which is dog friendly and spacious. They have a good beer menu and a few other things, like cider and seltzer, for non-beer lovers. Their food menu is pretty extensive. Lots of savory and heavier foods that looked delicious, but we weren't totally in the mood for at the time. We had the firecracker shrimp and the house burger. Both were delicious! I really enjoyed the shrimp. It was lightly battered, served with sweet and sour sauce. It wasn't spicy to me, though. The cheese burger was solid and came with fries. We definitely want to come back with our pup before the summer ends!

My friend has been telling me about this place for a while now, and we finally went yesterday and to be honest it is one of the tastiest burgers I've had ever had and the services are on point I would recommend this to everybody it's one of the best places around the area. You can hang around and drink a beer, made in house and that made it way cooler.

I rated their Gary location a few years ago but since then they've moved most of their operations to Hammond; so much so that they have a brewery, a distillery and their sister brewery Sour Note, right down the street. What hasn't changed is that the beers they have a great, I do miss being able to get a sour beer since they've spun that off but you can still find a great range of styles to choose from, all of which I've enjoyed. I've had the food there multiple times and since they've added barbecue to the menu that's basically all that I've ordered. I usually end up with the two meat platter and while the meat is good the potato salad is phenomenal-I end up getting a double serving of that. If you have the day blocked off I'd just end up going from the distillery to the brewery to their sours and have an Uber standing by.

A Sanctuary for the Foodie and the Beer Lover!! I stopped into the 18th Street Brewery while in the area for business. I had been to the Miller location previously to buy beer and learn more about this brewery. I travel to the area quite often and I've been to 3 Floyds, and the Byway so I had to cross this place off the list. This is not only a local favourite but USA Today had listed this Brewery as one of the best in the nation so I had to check it out. As I pulled up to the parking lot in an industrial area, I saw that they had a fenced-off patio area with families and kids enjoying food and beer in the warm sunshine. I walked around to the sidewalk and went in through the front door where I saw the graphic designs and artwork of the Brewery. The Brewery itself is sectioned off in four areas, the first is the regular dining area and kitchen, the bar, and behind the bar is the group seating and party area while the other half of the brewery is the warehouse and shipping area. This is a great sight to behold as you really get a feel for the amount of beer that they produce and the amount of beer they ship out locally and nationally. Now to the beer and the food!! I sat at the bar and was greeted warmly by the bartender who took his time to recommend beers to try and help me navigate the menu as it was my first time eating at the 18th. I sampled some of the higher alcohol beers like Deal with Devil and Disciples Revenge but settled on a lighter flight when I had dinner. My food choices that night were the smoked wings, juicy, tangy, tasty and a perfect match to my flight. My main course that night was the delectable Pork Tenderloin. Smoked to perfection, with an amazing tenderness throughout, it was probably one of the best Pork Tenderloins I've had in a long time. To recap, the beer, space, the vibe, the food were all indicators of very well run business and establishment who care and are passionate about their beer, their food their ambiance and the way they treat guests. The 18th Street Brewery is a must if you're ever in the Chicago, Northern Indiana area. If not then ask your local beer retailer to stock 18th Street beers, even if they're only for you.

The food here came out hot. I really like my food hot. My daughter's food was also hot. I got the chicken wings and she got the chicken tenders. They're appetizers but the rest of menu wasn't too exciting. At first we were the only two customers so service was fast and friendly. I got a Manhattan drink. It was good my daughter got a house tequila they were out of Taquin for rim of glass so salt it is. The margaritas were not good. They were weak and tasted watered down. So next my daughter got a Prosecco. The restaurant is a warehouse so that's the vibe. One side is brewery and restaurant the other is a bar. I have been to the bar side previously and it was great. For my second Manhattan I asked for extra cherries and was charged $2 extra! A running group sponsored by bar came in and a few of them decided to run in the rain. Good thing the floor is cement since it was soaked afterwards. I asked the waitress for change for a $20 since I like to tip cash as a benefit to server. Well I guess she thought change from my hands to hers. She brought me back only $10 in change. I had to correct her error and still gave her a decent cash tip. If I come back I'll stick to the bar side. The drinks are more plentiful there and bartender was friendly.

Sat outside. Wonderful ambiance. Food was delicious. Server was just wonderful. We are actually not beer drinkers but had a glass of wine. Great experience. Will return.

18th street has found its home in my community of Hammond Ind. Its a favorite of mine when meeting friends or enjoying a brew or a unique sandwich. The place is clean,staff has always been cheerful and easy going. Thank you 18 th street

Great burgers!! Their beer selection is great, a must try is the Hazy Forbearance and if you're into sours, try the Strawberry- Marshmallow Berliner

I commute about once a week to Chicago and my reward for a long day, is to unwind at 18th Street Brewery. We've been here about 5 times and intend on returning weekly. The service keeps us coming back! The food is fast and very tasty! The one time we had to wait a bit, they made it up to us with complementary pints. We have had just about everything on the menu but I can't leave with getting the cheese curds. They are absolutely perfectly cooked with the best sauce on the planet. I love the staff! So knowledgeable about the products, the brews and recommendations for what we might like to try next. What a wonderful brewery!

I came here 2 years ago and loved it, haven't been since but wanted to share it with my family that's closer who can come more often. Big mistake. I called 2 days in advance to let them know I had a group of 9-15 people coming. I didn't realize I was calling the Gary location until I arrived. I arrived before my group to get all particulars, when we arrived I talked with who I assumed was the manager who was a bit rude and very unfriendly. I assumed it was because she wasnt expecting this large group. I apologized a few times but saw there was space available and also know they dont take reservations so it shouldn't have been a big deal. We ordered drinks and a appetizer before the group arrived which is the only reason we stayed. My family is friendly to a fault, everytime they asked a question it was like they were bothering the staff. We had more people join us and it was a problem even though it was empty seats available. I was soo disappointed in how unfriendly and unwelcoming the staff was. We spent almost $500 and would have spent much more if we felt valued. I can say the food was still delicious and beer options were tasty but overall we all walked away very unhappy with no plans to return.

Really great experience. Awesome cocktails in the distillery and delicious beers in the brewery. Food was on point (distillery). Service was bomb. Atmosphere was wonderful. Try it. You won't be disappointed.

Food was awesome! We started with the pork belly app. Melted in our mouths! My hubs had the burger and really liked it. I had the brisket tacos and loved them! The beers on tap were equally great! We will will be back soon!!

The ambiance was great. It was nice stylish. The services nice the food was OK the drinks it was not for me but overall it was all right.

Local business ordered 5 carry out meals for lunch. 4 of the 5 are not satisfied with their choice. Unfortunate. Wife and I have eaten there several times pre-COVID and always had a good experience with the food, beer, and service. This is lacking.

This place has killer potential but needs some fine tuning. PROS: -Parking is very easy, there's a lot right behind the building. -The inside is huge!! Way bigger than I expected having looked through the photos. -Food menu is fairly priced & has a good amount of options -Beers are pretty tasty However... service was borderline terrible & the food wasn't executed well. For starters, my fiancé & I ordered a flight of beer. Which the waitress spilled all over our table when she brought it to us. Accidents happens, who cares. But she barely wiped it up & didn't even come back to clean the rest. We sat there with beer all over the table for 15 minutes before we flagged her down & asked for more napkins. Even then she quickly ran a few over the center of the table & walked away. Which left puddles of beer all around the edges. I rarely complain about things like this, especially if it was an accident but this was really off-putting. It kind of ruined the experience for me. I ended up wiping the rest with the sleeves of my hoodie so I could actually touch the table. She also said she'd bring us 1 full pour each to make up for all the lost beer. But when we ordered them she brought us 2 small samples. Lol it was just so weird. Anyways, for dinner I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich & my fiancé ordered the Cuban. He loves Cubans & he said it was just okay. It looked pretty small too. The buffalo chicken sandwich had good flavor but there wasn't much to it & it had big chunks of raw white onion randomly placed on it. Which didn't go that well together as a whole. And the fries could be amazing if half of them weren't soggy & undercooked & half of them crispy. Like I said, food has potential, but it could be executed better. It was worth checking out because I'll go to any brewery once. But I probably won't be coming back.
