We went last evening, to celebrate our anniversary.
1. Service: impecable!
2. Atmosphere: as another rater said, the only worth while tables are the ones close to the windows. The other ones are situated in a cold, inhospitable manner in the rest of the space, as if instead of diners they were expecting a crowd of card players. All tables for 4 people, nothing separating them to create a warmer environment. I read this as a sign of not caring, since a few large plants would have solved this issue.
3. Food: ah yes, here comes the big problem! We started with (and shared) the Rocha camarones, nicely sized yet bland, and worst of all not deveined. Meaning: it contained the animal's intestine inside with its fecal matter. This, in a restaurant that presents itself as high cuisine is a blemish hard to forgive. Had we not been so hungry, we would have sent it back. For our main course were given dry, reheated, and in my husband's case overcooked food. My steak, though correctly cooked, was inexplicably tough! It came with a tiny side of potatoes mille feuille, which was disproportionately small for the size of my meal and left me hungry. My husband's catch of the day was "lisa". We rarely bother to make it at home, but he was in the mood for fish, so he decided to try it. Not worth it. All of these dishes were lukewarm when served to us.
The exception was dessert: "chocolate and mint", really good. They added some other small desserts in a dish which had a "felicidades" written with chocolate, a nice touch.
Overall, the menu is short, lazy ( mediocre, lacks imagination) and the food, poorly prepared. I have to add that bringing a bread basket and a bottle of olive oil to the table does not constitute a pre appetizer treat. What did they expect us to do with that? Eat bread and oil? If this is the best that chef Matsumoto can do, they are in real trouble. This beautiful hotel deserves a much better restaurant than this one.
