"Vegetarians flock to this Oak Street gem for its addictive, meat-free menu offerings, like chips made from delicata squash, and chickpea cakes with plum butter. There’s also plenty here for carnivores, including the Rocky Mountain elk T-bone with goji-berry-walnut jam. If it all looks pretty enough for TV, that’s because chef Eliza Galvin appeared on Top Chef: Season 10 . Fans should take advantage of her on-site cooking demonstration and wine pairing classes, which include 12 recipe tastings and up to nine wines. Go in summer and you’ll even get to learn on the restaurant’s leafy outdoor patio."

Where To Eat and Drink in Telluride

"There are times when one reads the description of a dish and you already know there are too many ingredients vying for attention. That is not the case at 221 South Oak, where one-time Top Chef contestant Eliza Gavin mines her Southern upbringing, her years spent cooking in New Orleans and Napa, and her training at culinary school in France for inspiration. Even with so many influences working at once, Gavin has a knack for distilling flavors." - Amanda Faison

Fantastic spot! Amazing food, and so many vegan options(THANK YOU!) We will 100% be back here. Absolutely delicious and a wonderful experience. Gavin (server) and Sophie (somm) are masters of their craft. Can’t recommend enough! 💙

Nestled among breathtaking mountain scenery, this charming spot offers a welcome respite from Telluride’s otherwise lackluster dining scene. After experiencing a string of disappointments in town, we finally found a place that stands out—for the better. The ambiance is warm and inviting, and the service is attentive without being overbearing. We started with the Bay Scallops & Pork Belly with Crispy Brussels Sprouts, accompanied by plum butter, peanut salsa macha, and shiitake mushrooms. This dish was a solid 8/10—well-balanced flavors and beautifully executed. For the entrée, we opted for the Rocky Mountain Trout with a Duo of Ravioli, featuring fried capers, brown butter, and microgreens. While the fish itself was expertly seasoned and cooked to perfection, the ravioli portion was, quite frankly, underwhelming—just two lonely pieces on the plate, and the sweet potato filling wasn’t quite hitting the right notes for me. The contrast in textures didn’t work as well as I had hoped, making this dish a 7/10 in my book. I recognize that this restaurant is helmed by Top Chef Eliza, and while the execution is undoubtedly polished, I wasn’t completely blown away. That said, in a town where mediocrity seems to be the norm when it comes to dining, 221 Oak Street Café is a breath of fresh air. It may not have delivered a knockout punch, but it certainly holds its own as one of the better options in Telluride.

Google
Lovely restaurant experience in a cozy space with super friendly and attentive staff. Food was very thoughtfully crafted, well presented, tasty and high quality. We loved that they have a separate vegetarian menu (with a whole vegan section). Ordered the vegan cheese appetizer to start - the cheese is made in house and was very tasty. For entrees got the soy glazed tofu stir fry which was excellent and well flavored (the marinade was so good and tasty), and the mushroom ravioli dish (also very good). For dessert got the apple crumble, which was great. Would definitely recommend - the dinner here was very nice.

Google
My dinner here was the best of all dinners in Telluride! The menu options are great and unique, including a separate vegan/vegetarian menu. We all ordered different dishes, and everything was delicious. The drinks were great as well. Highly recommend and would give it 6 stars if I could. Will come back the next time I visit Telluride.

Google
We enjoyed a family dinner here with ages ranging from 18 to almost 60. Everyone loved it. The food was amazing. We all got something different so we could try several things. The elk t-bone was the standout, but every dish was delicious and the cocktails were as well. The service was outstanding.

Google
Was here for a wedding, very good quality despite the bulk service. Obviously a well run kitchen. Only thing that wasn’t spectacular was the chocolate (fudge?) dessert. Steak was A+++ as was the octopus and other items we had.

Google
One of the best restaurants in Telluride, we had an outstanding time. The food, service, and ambiance were all outstanding. If you are looking for a special place to have dinner in Telluride, 221 South Oak is the spot. On a side note, our pup Sidney loved the leftover Elk steak!

I count the days every year to come back here. This is by far the best restaurant in Telluride. Real cuisine with real ingredients and real passion behind every dish. Every plate will be a good idea and nothing to regret of. Starters are big size and amazing to share. Entres are perfect size too. Top favorite: Vegan menu Brussels sprouts Duo soups Elk t-bone Wagyu Pistachio chocolate tart

Yelp
Excellent food and very charming old house with patio in the back. Seasonal Cocktail choices were so appealing, we ordered the Watermelon smash. So refreshing and good! Salad and the entrees were unique preparations and very tasty. We had the Elk T-bone and trout, both cooked perfectly. The strawberry rhubarb dessert with honey lavender ice cream was the perfect finisher. Super cute and quiet patio in the back under trees. Only downside with our seats on the patio were that we had ants and green tree bugs falling on us the entire evening.

Yelp
Fabulous little gem in the heart of Telluride. Food is upscale and delicious. Service is top notch and they are knowledgeable about the menu and wine selections. This is an old house converted some years back into a quaint little restaurant. Make a reservation. You won't be disappointed

Yelp
Our best meal in Telluride. Certainly the best meal in a long time. You come here for the food, the Chef is amazing. (Next visit to Telluride, I want to take one of her cooking classes.) Appetizer on stuffed squash blossoms was phenomenal, fresh, crunchy and satisfying with the melting cheese. Fried Quail was crispy, cooked perfectly, served plainly - what a treat. Grilled salmon and the chef's special ingredients made this dish a winner. Normally I don't eat dessert, but I was glad I did here. The sticky toffee pudding was to die for, with a wonderfully delicious caramel sauce. Good wine selection by the bottle and glass. Besides the food, what made this a memorable experience was our server -- Natasha. Wow, girl you rock. She knows the menu, was an excellent guide, with articulate, helpful explanations of each dish so that we could make an informed decision on which dishes we might enjoy most. 221 Sout Oak is in an old house--it was beautifully decorated, homey, and comfortable. Outside dining on the patio or on the street available. Can't wait to return.

Yelp
Extremely disappointing meal. The server was fabulous, she deserves 10 stars. I had heard great things about the quality of the food served at this place, so we were eager to try it. We had an epic birthday meal the night before at Allreds, so the bar was set pretty high... unfortunately this experience did not deliver what we thought it should have. We started with the Burratta appetizer. Whenever I see this on a menu, I have to try it. This dish was odd, it had peanuts and a weird beet sauce, it sounded kind of disjointed and it tasted that way as well. Absolutely no flavor, disappointing. Then we split the heart of romaine and Kale salad with chick pea croutons and sardines. Gross! The salad was old tasting and mealy. The croutons we had were odd, had a stale, soft texture, once again NO Flavor!! And then we split the bison short ribs. The bison meat was super tender, cooked well, but had a very pot roast type of flavor and consistency, and once again, just not a ton of flavor! It was served on a mushy pile of, what looked like bird's eye frozen veggie medley, the kind you get in a bag at the freezer section, the gorgeous Bison was just plopped on a pile of the mushy vegetables...???? What? There was a small amount of sauce and a lot of dry, pink peppercorns. What a sub par meal... this place used to be known for some of the best food in Telluride. Then we had the chocolate tort for desert, we didn't even finish it, once again, it just wasn't good. Kind of dry, not very interesting. I've never not finished desert!!! I wonder who is in the kitchen these days, is Eliza the chef/owner still there? She is supposed to be amazing, if she is, I don't know what's going on, the food we had did not taste like an award winning chef prepared our dishes. They all tasted very, meh... maybe she isn't as hands on as in the past. if I were to guess by the quality of the food. These days most cooks are Latin Americans. They are very hard working, and have taken over the restaurant scene in many mountain towns. I get it. They show up for work and work hard, but they need better training!!! People around us were also murmuring the same reactions. Too bad, but we'll go to Allreds next time.

Yelp
In Telluride for July 4th and wanted a nice dinner. The chef at 221 South Oak is the most noted chef in town with cookbooks, tv appearences and Iron Chef praise according to locals. The decor is cute in a small old house, brightly colored and displaying nice art work. The patio is comfortable and it is very inviting. Reservations are highly encouraged and the maitre de was very engaging. We sat inside and ordered the fried green tomatoes with crispy speck for an appetizer. I also ordered the flank steak with potato gnocchi. The fried green tomato was very tasty and unique in the flavor profile. The steak was good but not remarkable. Overall, the food is good but not sure amazing. It is a nice option for dinner

Yelp
Stellar dining experience. Service was exceptional. Cuisine was outstanding! The restaurant is located in a charming Victorian home. Easy to walk to in town.

Yelp
One of our best meals while in Telluride! This place is super cute and looks like a residential home on the side of the street. We checked in and were quickly escorted to our table in a yurt behind the main dining room. It was equipped with multiple heaters and was very warm! The host staff was amazing throughout the night including our server! We ordered a bottle of En Route Pinot Noir for drinks and the manager quickly brought it over and served us. It was delicious! For starters we got the ceviche special which was striped bass and the sausage plate! Both were delicious but the ceviche was my favorite of the two! For entrees, we got the salmon, lamb, elk t-bone, scallops, and trout w/ ravioli! Everything was delicious! I loved my trout. The carrot ravioli was to die for!! We ended with the chocolate tart and buttermilk cake. Buttermilk cake was my favorite but the tart was good too just a little too rich for me. Overall, I cannot speak more highly of this place. Do yourself a favor and eat here!

Yelp
What a charming atmosphere with beautiful art. There was a very friendly greeting at the hostess stand and we just had to wait a few minutes to be seated for our reservation. We really enjoyed our food at drink. The challenge was the very slow service. It looked like our server had quite a few tables so it was somewhat understandable but frustrating. There were times she walked right past us and we ended up not ordering the dessert we wanted because we didn't see her.

Yelp
We retuned back to an ole fav for dinner this evening. We have been skiing Telluride for quite sometime! Always enjoy the art work that's displayed around the establishment. We started our evening with some cool cocktails. We got the "train to Mexico" and the " old fashion #9". We then were quickly seated and enjoyed the molasses bread and butter. We indulged with the octopus and the for dinner had the elk t bone and beef short rib. Shared the pyramid chocolate dessert with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. All wonderful!

Yelp
We had our wedding welcome dinner here as well as our post wedding brunch. All of my guests were blown away by the food and service. The entire staff was friendly, professional, and accommodating. The staff was polite and accommodating to individual guests needs/requests. Music, special seating arrangements, you name it. They were on top of it. Where we received slow response from other wedding vendors, Eliza was always quick to respond, and helpful.

Yelp
The food was alright. The crispy Brussels sprout with chickpeas on the vegan menu was flavorful. The trout was good, very tender albeit a bit plain, and the duo ravioli were interesting company. They were a bit jarring in terms of taste, but I applaud the chef for daring to be creative. The service was lacking. I did not see the waitress until 25 mins into sitting. Towards the end, she tried very hard selling additional ice cream on top of a buttermilk cake, which I did not concur with. But when the cake arrived, a scoop of ice cream (and the flavor was the one that I like the least) sat at the top. Since she did not come to check on me until I left the restaurant, I did not even get a chance to reconcile with her. Therefore the 2 stars.

Yelp
We loved our experience in the greenhouse at 221 South Oak. The room was very comfortable for our group of 17. Everyone was please with both the food and service. I highly recommend the seared scallops. Wine list was a bit pricey, but we found a nice Sangiovese for $58 per bottle that was a great accompaniment for most meals and a nice California Sauvignon Blanc at $80 per bottle that was dry and crisp for the folks eating seafood. All in all a lovely ambience, great food and wonderful experience. Will return!

Jeane G.

Yelp
The greatest brunch in town. Nice when weather is good as the back part of restaurant opens large doors and the air and brunch food complement each other. My Sunday Brunch favorite.

Hannah H.

Yelp
This was one of my favorite meals ever. The staff were so friendly, the food was flavorful fun and creative. I got the salmon and it was delicious and paired with foods that i could have never thought of. We also got the fried quail appetizer and it was the perfect amount of sweet spicy, with a fresh pear salad that complimented the appetizer so well. This place is awesome and I would for sure recommend!!

Yelp
Perhaps one of the biggest dining disappointments I've ever experienced - except the dining experience part. The atmosphere was perfect - charming restored Victorian, window table with a cool mountain breeze and an excellent glass of tap water. We have followed Chef Eliza for some time and looked so forward to making this meal a part of our first trip to Telluride, and I was certain it would be a perfect birthday dinner for my partner. We arrived right on time for our 5:30 reservation and were promptly greeted and seated and the gentleman who seated us seemed professional. We are fine with tap water and that was promptly delivered. We read over all the cocktail, wine and dinner options - we had plenty of time, as we would sit for a little more than 20 minutes with not one of the 6 staff we counted showing up to our table, though they had plenty of time to pass by and notice us, but never make eye contact and time to congregate. We had an event we had to be at at 7:00 and we knew, given the way things were going, that we would not have time to enjoy the meal we'd hoped for. We chose to leave quietly, not wanting to make a scene and possibly ruin someone else's dining experience, and out of respect for the well-regarded chef/owner, Eliza Gavin. When I called to let them know, the manager Luke let me know he was aware and that our server was very busy and arrived at our table just as we were leaving - yet we left completely unnoticed... If Chef Gavin reads this, I hope you know how incredibly disappointing this whole experience was and we will remain fans from afar, for now. And once we sort how we feel about this evening, we will consider making another reservation on our next trip. Meanwhile, I highly recommend the tap water. And you couldn't drink it in a lovelier place.

Yelp
Super cute location with awesome local art. We dined in the beautiful yurt. Enjoyed the foie gras (warmed and chilled foie), honey fried quail, salmon taretare, and duck confit. All were very tasty! I've had better foie but the other items were all such unique and flavorful takes on more classic dishes. I recommend trying if you're in the area!
google avatar

Christopher F.

Yelp
We did a wine/food cooking class which was absolutely fabulous! Eliza, the Chef/Owner, and Luke, the Sommelier, were both experts in their business, approachable, and entertaining. The class was more of a demonstration, although very interactive and open to questions/comments. In addition to some great wines, we tasted some incredible food - over 10 courses and you better come hungry! Fun way to spend an afternoon!

Yelp
Fantastic! Everything about this restaurant was superb! The owner/chef sat us and was so delightful. We had the octopus appetizer that was delicious and perfectly prepared. The seared tofu with vegetables and noodles in a coconut broth was amazing and the trout with duo ravioli was very tasty! We had a peach crumble with ice cream for dessert which ended this fabulous meal. The ambiance was nice, I look forward to returning to this gem of a restaurant!!
google avatar

Jackie G.

Yelp
Food here is always superb! Friendly staff and welcoming environment. It is pricey, but worth it!

Steve K.

Yelp
Quite average, especially for the prices. Three folks in our group had the trout entree and all three were warm (rather than hot) like they sat around before being delivered to the table. The ice cream dessert was a scoop not much larger than a golf ball. Delivering customers food at the appropriate temperature shouldn't be a challenge for a restaurant at this price point.

Yelp
Loved this place. I'm a vegetarian so I was so happy to find a place with an entire vegetarian menu. They also have a wide selection of vegan options, as well as vegetarian options that can be made vegan upon request. The veg menu was similar to the regular menu with thoughtful substitutions (tofu, mushroom, etc). Also I didn't put a photo of the appetizer but we got the grilled halloumi with strawberry rhubarb dust. We were amazed by everything we tried. 10/10 would highly recommend

Debbie R.

Yelp
Our recent two nights in July at 221 were very disappointing. First night we had the salad, special salmon appetizer and trout with ravioli. All three were flavorless. In 2015 our first dinner here was wonderful so we decided to give them another chance on night two. This night we tried the tuna appetizer. It came to our table so fast, it was prepared ahead of time (not fresh). Lamb chops came next and they were terrible we couldn't eat them. With my Italian roots and my husband being french we have never not eaten a meal. I've never given a bad review and feel terrible doing so. Only positive was lovely Sophie and Natasha was also very pleasant. Oh, good wine list too.

LBaSt B.

Yelp
A few years back we had a wonderful experience so planed especially to come back when in town. Unfortunately, both of our last visits were worse than disappointing. First though, the home made bread was great and we did enjoy it. The goodness stops there. We had the trout on two different occasions and it was dry and flavorless. The associated ravioli was thick and chewy although the filling was nice. One of our party compared it to a hockey puck. The short rib was cold in the middle and heavy with warmed over flavor. It was most certainly reheated. This was not an anomaly as several of our party have had the same experience over the last few years. Overall, the food has the taste and texture of frozen or reheated dinners. Certainly not what you would expect for the heavy prices here. Crushed.

Yelp
221 South Oak will always be special to us, as my fiancé proposed to me earlier in the day, and we had our celebratory dinner here that night. It looks like a small house from the outside, and the seating is intimate inside. The staff from the hostess to servers and bartenders were all extraordinary and went out of their way to make our night special. Not only was the food absolutely out of the world, but the chef, Eliza Gavin (from Top Chef), brought our meal out to us and even sat down to talk to us for a little bit. Even though they were busy, she was so sweet and truly made our night even more memorable. On top of all of that, they brought us complimentary champagne, too! We had the best meal and service of our trip to Telluride here!

Suzy H.

Yelp
This is a little gem, excellent food, nice out door dining space with views of the mountains close to the gondola. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We'd definitely dine here again!
google avatar

Britney A.

Yelp
I'll start off by saying the food was definitely better than most of our dining experiences in Telluride. I had the Scallops, which were supposed to come with a chili oil, but when I tasted no spice and asked them, they forgot to add the chili oil and had to bring it out on the side for me to pour myself. The dish was very tasty and I enjoyed it. My Husband got the Elk Steak, which he regretted. The overall winning dish on the table seemed to be the Bison. They had a good wine selection however the bartender was rude when we were trying to get a drink while we waited for our reservation/ table to be ready. The standard pour for a glass of wine (especially one that costs $20) is 5 ounces. I watched her pour out the last drop in the bottle and instead of opening another bottle to complete the pour she served it to me and it was no more that 3.5-4 ounces. We went to our table and after a lot of push back the server finally agreed to top off my wine. Overall the service and attitude of the staff was poor but the food was good for Telluride standards.

Todd S.

Yelp
I am visiting Telluride. I ate at the bar with Kevin the bartender and had a great experience. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very cute as it is an old home. The trout dish was is the best trout I've ever eaten and I love trout. The raviolis were beyond phenomenal. I got the fried quail appetizer which had a great flavor but too much batter. The bread could've been better (too dry) with butter with salt on it. It was so good, I'm coming back again tomorrow night.
google avatar

Yelp
Disclaimer: came here just for a pre-dinner drink without a reservation. But nonetheless, it shouldn't take 10 minutes for someone to greet you, especially in a small restaurant. Probably 3 or 4 different employees walked past my boyfriend and I standing at the hostess stand before one half stopped to say the host would be with us shortly. Five minutes later, the host was with us. Mind you, this was a Wednesday night and the place was not packed by any means. While waiting for the host, we just asked the bartender if we could sit in two of the four empty seats to grab one quick cocktail before a dinner reservation elsewhere in 30 minutes. He said they had to be saved for reservations coming in. Ok, sure that's fine. Until the host finally greeted us and told us we were more than welcome to have a seat at the bar. Not a good look when the staff is not on the same page. We both ordered a glass of wine, don't even remember what but it was red and it was good. In short, based on this one experience I am not eager to come back here if I'm ever in town again.

Yelp
We have been very clear with our servers that we want our food hot! The food came tepid which spoiled the experience. Main course nothing special...Appetizers are pretty good. Once and never again.
google avatar

Khaled A.

Yelp
221 is a busy place so make sure to book in advance. We enjoyed all the dishes but did not have a "wow" dish hence the 4 stars. Maybe if I have to choose a favorite it would be the dessert, banana cream cake. The only thing I would change would be remove the rum which was adding sour/spicy taste. Here are the dishes we ordered and I think all of them are good: Seated foie gras: 8/10 Bone marrow: 8/10 Kale salad: 7/10 Elk: 8/10 Rack of lamb: 8/10 Banana cream cake: 8/10

Yelp
Starting with the good. The food was excellent. The appetizers were better than the main courses but the food was cooked and served to perfection. Now to the bad... we had heard Nothing but great things about the restaurant from our friends, unfortunately the only thing that lived up to it was the food itself. Our server was nice enough but the Maitre' D did not make us feel at home, actually the opposite. When we sat down we mentioned how impressed we were by our friends reviews of the restaurant and mentioned we would be interested in booking early for the day before or the day after New Years. His response... "We are probably booked". After a few bottles of wine and almost an 800 dollar meal for four people did he ever come back or even say hello. Absolutely not. The same from the bartender who was completely unfriendly. Almost everyone from the time we walked in to the time we left made us feel unwelcome. Best part is they have openings on opentable for the days we requested but we have no intention of ever coming back. The service can make a restaurant and this place is sorely lacking. Great food, terrible service. Not a good combo. Stick with the National which has both and you can't go wrong.

Yelp
This is a nice restaurant off the main strip in Telluride. Ambiance is better in main dining area. Due to Covid we were seated in their outdoor tent. It had heaters and they tried their best to make it comfortable. Service was friendly and attentive. Appetizers were pretty good. I had the duo of soup which is an interesting way to serve soup I have not seen anywhere else. Both soups were good by themselves but it really shined when you mixed them. My wife had the fried green tomatoes. They were nice and crisp and the cucumber coulis added a good balance. The only negative was the prosciutto on the top. I think it was prepared dried and had almost a jerky consistency which made it tough to cut and chew. Main course for me was the trout. Tasty, a touch overcooked for my taste but the pillow ravioli's were delicious. I could have had a dish of just them! My wife had the Elk T-bone. This was good as well. Meat was tender and the fruit compote paired nicely. It could have been served on a larger plate as all the components were stacked so it looked nice when served but as soon as you tried to eat it everything got smashed around and quickly became a mess. Dessert was the profiteroles stuffed with ice cream. It provided a nice cooling finish to the meal. 4.5 stars and I would recommend it.

Yelp
Outstanding. Service and food is spectacular. Cozy quiet and relaxing. One of Tellurides best

Matthew B.

Yelp
This was a pretty cool restaurant. We had drinks in the bar, which was well stocked (lots of Japanese whiskey, tequila y mescal). We started with the foie gras, which was some of the best I've ever had and the grilled octopus which rocked. For our main we had the Bison Short Rib, which was melt in yer mouth, and the Elk T-bone which was also delicious. Once again you may find yourself sticker shocked with the wine list, which was extensive. We got a great Rhone 2016 Rhone red which was exquisite.

Dave J.

Yelp
The food is terrific like it always is. When you look at the menu you don't know where to begin because everything looks great. Even the drinks are great. The rainbow trout and ravioli are a plus, and the appetizers are epic, including the halloumi and salmon. The big flaw here are the desserts, which actually stink. Why can't they just have a crème brûlée or profiterole?

Shiela B.

Yelp
Wonderful ambiance! And really yummy food. Really friendly and helpful staff Tried the Bisin short ribs! Yum!! Also

Yelp
Excellent! Great ambiance. Excellent food. Great service. We'll be back next time we visit Telluride!

Yelp
We ate here last night, what a beautiful restaurant. It's an old house turned into a stylish restaurant. The atmosphere is very romantic. We both went with the vegetarian menu. Wow, what great choices. We started with the smoked eggplant and beet on sourdough toasts, was a great combo. I had the seared green tomato salad, so good!! My husband had the Frisée salad. My main was the duo ravioli in a creamy mushroom reduction, my husband had the mushroom stuffed eggplant with fresh corn. We both loved our choices. We went with wine by the glass, nice wine list. This was one of our favorite restaurants this year. The menu is so innovative, the combos of ingredients so delicious. The vegetarian menu was awesome. Next time will try the other menu. Great service, atmosphere as well. I highly recommend this restaurant.

GiGi D.

Yelp
we loved this place! We got the fried quail for a starter and it was amazing, such great flavor. They also brought a complimentary bread basket. My boyfriend got the Elk and really liked it, I got the scallops and they were also amazing. We finished off the meal with a fruit crisp crumble, the flavor was so warm and homey. Definitely recommend eating at 221 South Oak while in telluride!

Yelp
Delicious! Wonderful menu and atmosphere. So happy we were able to get the reservation. Looking forward to returning to try more dishes! Highly recommend!!!

Yelp
As a food service professional, with over 30 years experience, I was stunned! One-third of the way through my Tenderloin of Wild Boar (never had it before) I told the server something was missing! She looked at the menu, looked at my entree and said, I thought you wanted Filet of Beef. I said, 'no Boar'. At this point, one of two things should have happened. 1. Immediately wisk the plate away, apologize for her error and promise to get me the correct meal asap. 2. Offer to comp my entree, should I choose to finish the meal that I had not ordered. Neither thing happened! I was allowed to finish my beef, pay my bill and leave disappointed. Shame on you! Michael M

Had a LOVELY time. Their menu options are so considerate and creative. I loved the entire experience. Got the wagyu steak and the lamb ribs. The food was a 3/5 but the overall experience and pleasant wait staff made this a solid 4. I'd go back and try something different next time :)

Yelp
Really enjoyable dinner here - they accommodated us earlier than our reservation and made great recommendations. The octopus was excellent. So was the trout and buffalo. Great service!

Yelp
Loved the every course and dessert. They actually made their own cheese, which was rich and wonderful.

Yelp
Great place for a fun date night in Telluride! We tried the trout and the angus hanger steak. Apparently the trout is the only stable thing on the menu (everything else rotates), but we weren't super wowed by the trout. The real standouts were the cocktails. Were the overpriced? Absolutely but so worth it. The other thing that shouldn't be missed is their in house made custard ice cream for dessert. Enjoy!

Yelp
Exceptional service, food, and cocktails. We loved grilled octopus, ahi tuna tartare, and organic salmon.

Yelp
I had the BEST meal in Telluride here! Highly recommended. Also a perfect place for a vegetarian/vegan. Everything was truly amazing. The service was also excellent and went above and beyond to get any questions I had answered about the food. Additionally, they were great about social distancing. We sat in the yurt, which I initially thought was going to be terrible, but it was actually fantastic! We were warm, had equal amount of great service despite not being in the main dining room, and also-who gets to dine in a yurt normally?! I look forward to dining here again the next time in I'm Telluride!

Yelp
This place used to be a favorite but consistency is off and pricing is way high. There is a preciousness to the dishes that don't reflect the value. Arrogance abounds within the staff. I would bypass this establishment and head over to more casual establishments, Cosmo, The New Sheridan, There, The Butcher snd Baker that give you a good value and have fun servers...

Yelp
My mom is in town and 221 is her favorite restaurant. I call to make a reservation and the message says they are closed for a private party both days we wanted to go. Fair enough, except I had mentioned the week prior when eating there that we'd be back the next week, nobody mentioned closures which I'm pretty sure we're planned far earlier than 6 days prior. So we planned on takeout the night before she leaves town. Very much looking forward to it all day. Starving. I call at 5pm sharp when they open, and when I say I'd like to place a takeout order, the gal says "I don't believe we are doing that tonight, we are really just too busy. My apologies. " -- direct quote-- and hangs up before I can ask anything! OKAY....First, you had reservations available, so what is the difference if I sit down and order, or call in and order? You get your 20% tip regardless, and less service needed. We called Cosmo and spent $170 on takeout, so I hope they appreciated our order. If you aren't going to offer takeout, then take it off your website, and have someone who isn't rude answer the phones. As a local, I've been trying to support my favorite restaurants as much as possible, seems like maybe some don't need it?

Yelp
4 - salad off the regular (non-vegan) menu 4+ - fried green tomato starter. Has bacon and is so good. Hard to cut up and eat but who cares. 2 - bread and butter 3.75 - scallops with corn chowder. They were too salty. And just really basic and slightly overdone. 4 - trout with ravioli. Those ravioli are amazing. There's only 2 and I wish there were more. I was a bit underwhelmed, cause there is just so much good food in Telluride to have an underwhelming meal. It was good though. And I'd probably go back - I think we ordered the wrong stuff. We should have gotten the elk, as my waiter at the Cosmo had recommended these guys for our next meal and he said they do game meat really well. I also bet their vegetarian menu is really good. They know how to do vegetable flavors very well - you could tell from the starters. The mushroom stuffed eggplant looks good, I'd order more of these next time.
