Yelp
Very excited to try this restaurant. The concept very intriguing-korean American steakhouse.
The restaurant atmosphere is great. Mid century modern, high end decor, well lit with plenty of windows that can see out to city.
Food was good overall, ranging from "fair" to "amazing." Ordered the premium korean BBQ set which provides four different meats (prime strip, A5 waygu strip, prime short rib, marinated short rib) in addition to dipping sauces and bonchan. The wait staff grills the meat for the patrons and splits it to their plates. Personally I liked this as they are able to grill each cut of meat to a solid "medium" and serve efficiently. If you like meat well done, ensure to mention this as my wife put her meat back on the grill to cook the red off (not sure of the ediquite of this here, received a puzzled look by an employee but may be fine).
The A5 waygu was amazing. Very tender and flavorful. Portion of the A5 waygu very small (only two small 1 square inch, maybe less, pieces).
The marinated short ribs were best part of the meal. They were marinated in traditional Korean BBQ kalbi marinade. If I were to return, this would be the one meat i would order. Again, portion small, four short ribs.
Remainder of meats were a bit "fatty" and did not have marinade customary for korean BBQ. As a result, found these meats to be less flavorful and needing to be paired with more bonchan.
Also ordered green salad, fries and rice cake cacio e pepe. The latter was another stellar dish. The rice cakes were cut thin and elongated like house made noodles, just absolutely wonderful. The green salad was good but was simply an overpriced side salad generally served at Japanese restaurant for free with entrees. The fries also fell flat. They were over fried and thus tasted as if each fry was a "crunchy" from long john silvers.
Service was good but "stiff." I assume this is what is expected at a place like this, however.
All in all, cool atmosphere, unique concept and some fantastic menu options. Will definitely return to try more in future but will probably order myself "more" with regards to meats as portions quite small. They recommend 2 people per set and I disagree if two hungry people. One would normally consume twice the amount of meat as their "set" in a korean BBQ experience.
