"When your plan for the night includes some combination of the phrases “hotel restaurant” and “Chicago Loop,” you might be concerned that you’ll be stuck eating overpriced food while you pay $40 an hour for parking. And if your evening involves a meal at Fisk & Co. those concerns are valid. Fisk & Co. is a restaurant attached to the Hotel Monaco, but other than potentially being surrounded by people wearing conference name tags (and having to leave the restaurant to use the bathroom), you probably won’t notice. The dining room is on the smaller side, and has an atmosphere with vaguely nautical decor that fits the seafood-focused menu. photo credit: Sandy Noto Food-wise, mussels are the specialty here, and you can get them served in a variety of different broths (like white wine or green curry). Unfortunately, they're not very good. The mussels are rubbery, and the broth is frequently unbalanced, being too sweet (in the case of the curry) or too bland (the white wine). The rest of the menu is seafood-focused as well, with a raw bar and underwhelming entrees like a soggy, overdressed lobster roll that will immediately remind you Chicago is nowhere near the ocean. When you realize you’ll need to get dinner in the Loop, it’s perfectly normal to experience a sense of dread followed by resignation. After all, your choices for a decent, not-overpriced meal after a day spent filing for divorce or taking selfies at The Bean are limited. So skip Fisk & Co. and visit one of these other neighborhood spots instead." - Adrian Kane

Yelp
Amazing dining experience in River North! Connected to the Lotte Hotel, this Korean BBQ steakhouse delivers premium cuts of meat with bold flavors. The ambiance is modern and balanced--not too loud or quiet. Highlights include the tiger bread with gochujang butter and their meat sets, perfect for sampling various cuts cooked to your liking right at the table. Thoughtful details and delicious food make this a new favorite--highly recommend!

Yelp
Overall this was a really good experience! The wait staff was amazing and attentive. They even had a drink sommelier help the men with their whiskey choices. We started with a few things: Scallops 5/5 Beef tartare 2.5/5 - wouldn't get again, strong mustard flavor overpowered the dish Money bread 3.5/5 - def enjoyable, wouldn't get again prob Bone marrow with sourdough 5/5 - AMAZING MUST GET Mushrooms 3/5 - nothing to write home about Broccolini - 4/5 tasty but not a must For mains, we got: Wagyu platter - all tasty, fun to try a variety. I liked the 3 and 4th but unfortunately don't remember which that was... not ribeye though Added the aged something... good but not as good as the skirt I think it was? The burger (idk why my friend got this at a steakhouse but she said it was good, not mind blowing but her fries were amazing! Would get them as a side next time) Overall, good experience. Mostly tasty but kinda pricey for portions.

Yelp
We came to this newer Perilla location to try the Korean lunch set on a Sunday afternoon. This restaurant is connected to the Lotte hotel next door and right in the loop. My friend and I both ordered the Korean lunch set with skirt steak which came with beef seaweed soup, rice and a variety of side dishes including rolled omelet, pickled cucumber, and white kimchi. The skirt steak was delicious and definitely the star of the show. I enjoyed the side dishes as well but all the flavors were pretty mild. The seaweed soup was super comforting and much needed on a cold winter day. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a nourishing meal!

Yelp
I got the kimchi fried rice and added on steak! I really enjoyed it, and the ingredients were clearly high quality. I wish they used a hot stone bowl to encourage toasted rice (nurunji) formation, though. I would take off 0.5 stars off if I for that if I could, but I can't :) The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!

Yelp
We came for lunch on a Friday and I loved the whole experience. Located in a convenient location, you can smell the meat before walking into the restaurant. Everything from service, to the food, to the presentation, amazing. No cons, would 100% come back. Their dinner menu looks amazing!

Yelp
The Korean breakfast meal is good - nothing super special if you eat a lot of and are familiar with Korean food, but it's that one unique offer in the entire downtown Chicago. The fried chicken sandwich with fries is also very good. The servers are friendly and the space is upscale and modern. We recommend this place for brunch or lunch if you are in downtown.

Yelp
An upscale, modern choice for Korean fair, Perilla Steakhouse did not disappoint! I stopped in for brunch and was intrigued to see they have a breakfast, brunch, and lunch/dinner menu, so you're sure to find something no matter the time of day. I was torn between the cacio e pepe rice cake, a take on the classic Italian dish with a rice cake served in a creamy, peppery parmesan sauce and the kimchi fried rice with fried egg, smoked soy and an unexpected pop of bleu cheese. Ultimately went with the fried rice and it was a unique flavor combo that I could devour again and again. The salty funk of the cheese plays on the smokiness of the dish very well and the egg was perfectly jammy in the middle with tons of flavor in the tenderloin rice. My aunt had the shrimp and grits and the shrimp was some of the most tender I've ever tried. The smoky cheese in the grits was also a wonderful touch. Service was top notch, the inside of the restaurant stunning, a unique try for sure but so so worth it!

Yelp
Stayed at the Lotte L7 and their restaurant was Perilla! Decided to have their Korean breakfast with the prime skirt steak. Pleasantly surprised on how delicious the steak was, it was soft, juicy and flavorful! It was my first time trying white kimchi and I enjoyed it so much, lighter flavor compared to regular kimchi but still offers cleansing the palate. Banchan was very calming, no overwhelming flavor. Seaweed soup tasted clean. We ordered the sausage patty which had a hint of sweetness. The side of potatoes were very airy! Overall, I'm not upset I ate here but also wasn't intriguing enough for me to want to come back if I ever visit again.

Yelp
Went for Breakfast Food - 5/5. Their platter's array was fitting for a traditional Korean breakfast, upgraded to be fancy with the addition of skirt steak. Steak was a perfect medium rare, had great sear, and the iconic salty & sweet flavors of Korean marinade. Miyeok-guk had a bold beef flavor with plenty of umami seaweed, to give you that rich-in-iron broth to start your day. Kimchi had a good flavor of fermentation sourness and sweetness. The rolled omelette was silky and firm. Cucumber and dried seaweed banchan added texture and the rice was fluffy. Service - 4/5. Professional and courteous service. They had an exquisite dress code and service was always available. Value - 5/5. We were searching for some Asian breakfast options in the downtown Chicago area and were thankful to find this option. The food was authentic, delicious, and perfect for satisfying our craving. The Korean breakfast platter was priced at $24, which was quite reasonable for the quality food and portion size; especially given its prime location. Parking - Street (Metered)

Yelp
Came here for my boyfriend's birthday dinner and we both left very full and happy. Everything from the food to the service to the ambiance was immaculate. We both agreed that this was the best meal we'd had in a while. We ordered: -monkey bread: this has to be the best rendition of monkey bread I'd ever had. The bread came out piping hot and soft and was a substantial size for 2 people. I could eat a tub of just the gochujang honey butter. The gochujang and honey are somehow perfectly balanced, neither overpowering the other. This is a simple yet unique dish. 10/10 -kalguksu bolognese: this was our favorite of the night. The kalguksu (noodles) were cooked perfectly, the beef was super tender, and the sauce had a very unique taste that I can't quite put my finger on. 11/10 -premium steakhouse set: the beef was all melt-in-your-mouth tender, however, may be somewhat overpriced for the portion (8 oz.) you're getting. The banchan (sides) were fine but I've had better. 8.5/10 -kimchi fried rice: not very traditional but still tasty. This came out in a hot stone bowl so the rice got a nice crunchy caramelization and stayed warm. You can really taste the blue cheese! I found myself kind of wishing for more kimchi flavor/kimchi pieces though. 9/10 -gwabeggi: this was a fun spin on a traditional Korean dessert. The donuts weren't too heavy nor sweet, and the ice cream, dessert cheese, and sauce perfectly complimented each other. 9.5/10 We also got the passion of the rice (hilarious name) and perilla cocktails. Both were fantastic and strong! Our server was very friendly and attentive. We received a birthday champagne toast and a thoughtful handwritten card. Definitely a nice touch and unique from the standard birthday dessert! Lastly, the ambiance is such a vibe. The maroon and green decor give this place a luxurious feel while the Japandi-style accents make the space warm and inviting. Keep up the good work Perilla!

Yelp
Fantastic atmosphere and dining experience. Located in River north next to/connected to the lotte hotel, restaurant overall has a nice mid modern ambience. Indoor was not too loud, not too quiet. The food was fantastic. It's a Korean bbq steakhouse with prime cuts of meat and Korean flavors, but there are other fun menu items such as the monkey bread with gochujang butter. Everything we ordered was delicious, with great attention to detail down to the silverware. Also recommend doing one of the meat sets to sample various cuts of beef (not pictured as it was eaten quickly). The servers cook the meat for you at the table to temperature of your liking. Highly recommend! A definitely new favorite for this new restaurant in River north.

Yelp
Disclaimer: I didn't pay for this meal so I'm not taking price into account. Service good. Ambience good. The kbbq style wagyu was cooked well (waiter cooks it) and tasted good. I'm taking off a star because I think the "Korean fusion" shareables we got missed the mark. I could barely taste any crab in the crab pancakes and it ended up tasting the same as any scallion pancake you get at a Chinese restaurant for $5. The rice cake cacio e pepe is just tteokbokki in cream sauce. The melon and rice dessert was a Korean fusion dish that hit though, imo.

Yelp
Went for our 5 year anniversary and the hospitality was fantastic. We were given complementary champagne and well wishes from the host. We ordered the monkey bread, Wagyu Sampling and fried chicken. The steak was fantastic and well worth the visit along with the kimchi, lettuce, squash and sauces provided. The place was classy and modern but still relaxed with some very charming decor. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to have a nice dinner or celebrate a special occasion.

Yelp
The restaurant has a sophisticated, semi-fine dining ambiance. The service was decent but a bit slow--they forgot to provide a spoon for my soup initially. I ordered the Korean Lunch Tray, and the steak was cooked to perfection. The soup was incredibly flavorful, but the banchan was just okay. I enjoyed the eggs, but the cabbage wasn't to my taste--it felt like kimchi without the spice. Overall, a mixed experience with some highlights.

Yelp
Everything about this restaurant is amazing. The moment you step into the restaurant, the ambiance changes from the busy streets of Michigan and Wabash avenues to the elegance of the restaurant. It is an absolutely beautiful restaurant. The food, wine and staff all complimented the ambiance. Ordered the steak frites and it was amazing. I will be coming back the next time I am in town.

Yelp
Very excited to try this restaurant. The concept very intriguing-korean American steakhouse. The restaurant atmosphere is great. Mid century modern, high end decor, well lit with plenty of windows that can see out to city. Food was good overall, ranging from "fair" to "amazing." Ordered the premium korean BBQ set which provides four different meats (prime strip, A5 waygu strip, prime short rib, marinated short rib) in addition to dipping sauces and bonchan. The wait staff grills the meat for the patrons and splits it to their plates. Personally I liked this as they are able to grill each cut of meat to a solid "medium" and serve efficiently. If you like meat well done, ensure to mention this as my wife put her meat back on the grill to cook the red off (not sure of the ediquite of this here, received a puzzled look by an employee but may be fine). The A5 waygu was amazing. Very tender and flavorful. Portion of the A5 waygu very small (only two small 1 square inch, maybe less, pieces). The marinated short ribs were best part of the meal. They were marinated in traditional Korean BBQ kalbi marinade. If I were to return, this would be the one meat i would order. Again, portion small, four short ribs. Remainder of meats were a bit "fatty" and did not have marinade customary for korean BBQ. As a result, found these meats to be less flavorful and needing to be paired with more bonchan. Also ordered green salad, fries and rice cake cacio e pepe. The latter was another stellar dish. The rice cakes were cut thin and elongated like house made noodles, just absolutely wonderful. The green salad was good but was simply an overpriced side salad generally served at Japanese restaurant for free with entrees. The fries also fell flat. They were over fried and thus tasted as if each fry was a "crunchy" from long john silvers. Service was good but "stiff." I assume this is what is expected at a place like this, however. All in all, cool atmosphere, unique concept and some fantastic menu options. Will definitely return to try more in future but will probably order myself "more" with regards to meats as portions quite small. They recommend 2 people per set and I disagree if two hungry people. One would normally consume twice the amount of meat as their "set" in a korean BBQ experience.

Yelp
I was super excited to try PERILLA's new steakhouse! Location is great and very close to riverwalk. The team at both PERILLA locations (this one and the one in River West) are very kind, welcoming and always ready to answer any questions. Some highlights for me were the pancakes (comes with perilla maple syrup which I've never tried before! It felt like a more aromatic and mature version of your usual maple syrup) and the Steak and Eggs (such a simple dish but it was done so well) but honestly every dish was a hit. Can't wait to be back!

Yelp
Stopped in for dinner and was pleasantly surprised at the service and ambiance! Our table wasn't ready yet so we got a drink at the bar. The bar menu has most of the menu except for the meats that are only for the grill tables. The passion of the rice was really fruity and tart, and the coconut Collins was interesting (kind of like a red bean and coconut vibe, creamy and not too sweet). The monkey bread was delicious - buttery and warm with a a little kick from the gochujang butter. The warm sampler plate was decent but I'm not sure I would order it again- it just didn't wow me; maybe it needed more acidity even though I did squeeze the lemon on it. They had an iberico pork set so we got that since I've never had it before. The sets come with banchan, ssam, rice but the ala carte ones do not. We were tempted by the 60 day dry aged ribeye which we were told is approximately 16 oz bone-in, but we would've had to order banchan and ssam separately on top of that (which are able $5 each). The server also cooks the meats on the grill for you, and the grills have the super cool side vents so you don't leave smelly. The dry aged burger was really good - small but decadent. The beef fat fries were good too but definitely heavy. I wish they were longer since they were quite thin and had some very small pieces. I also ordered the kimchi stew, which came with a rice. It was super flavorful with a great kick. I ordered the carrot cake for dessert, and it was a lighter rendition which was perfect! They also had some sorbets that sounded perfect for ending a meat forward meal.

Yelp
Overall I liked the food here. I haven't been to the original Perilla restaurant but my boyfriend and I were intrigued by the steakhouse concept. I really liked the monkey bread and the gochujang honey butter that came with it especially. I actually put some gochujang butter on my steak later and it was delicious. I also liked the kimchi stew and I really appreciated how much pork belly was in the dish. I thought the kimchi fried rice was strangely cheesey and honestly we weren't fans. One of the best things we got was the seafood warm tasting plate - the scallops were perfectly cooked and so tender and delicious. I also LOVED the kimchi here. We got the $120 wagyu set for the meat and for the price I honestly think the portions are just too small. And I somewhat understand the concept of savoring every small bite of high quality meat, but the way the set was served didn't even really allow for that. The server cooks the meat for you on the grill at your table, which is different than a lot of Korean barbecue places and I think would be a big plus for some people. However, they cook everything all at once and then leave so unless you're scarfing the meat down, most of it will get cold. It's also hard to remember which cut is which when it's put on your plate basically all at once. I would much rather cook the meat myself in this case so I can enjoy each cut fresh and hot. I was pretty unhappy with this approach to be honest. The steak was all good quality and tasty, of course. The thicker marinated cuts were my favorite. Overall, I probably would not come back here for the meat but since I enjoyed most of the other dishes, I'm interested in trying the other Perilla restaurant!

Yelp
I really wanted to try the new Perilla steakhouse, since it is a great addition to the Loop area. I went for lunch and tried their lunch set. Initially I wanted the skirt steak, but it was not available. Bummer! The server recommended the grilled chicken and said it had a nice char to it. She was right. It was really good, but there were only 4-5 pieces. For the price, I was expecting about twice as much. I hope they increase the portion, because it will make me want to come back. The banchan (side dishes) were excellent and complemented the grilled chicken well. The seaweed soup was a great way to wash down all the other food. Everything went well together. I just wished for larger portions and refills on the banchan would be a great option. The decor is modern and professional, with some tables having their own grill. There aren't too many tables available, especially for one person or two people seating. So I was seated at a large table which could fit 4-5 people comfortably. The service was attentive and frequent. There were about four people involved, from the hostess who led me to the table, the attentive server, and the attendant who cleared the other plates and utensils since I was the only person dining. Overall, the meal was light, healthy and complementary. I would go back more often if the portion size was larger and if they offered free refills on the banchan. I hope I can try their dinner.

Yelp
Ambiance: 10/10. It's a beautiful space next to the lobby at the Lotte Hotel. It's modern meets vintage classy. They have a bit of a Gatsby meets MCM in Korae. Service: 10/10.between the initial host sitting us down and offering water to the waiter who tended to us all evening, they were attentive and kind. Tried their best to be helpful but not intrusive. Food: where to start. Perhaps by sharing that I will be returning to eat some of my favorites but also to try everything on their menu. They have such a unique menu that fuses Korean dishes/flavors with other cuisine type (American, Italian, and other authentic Korean dishes). - Rice Cake Cacio e Pepe: must try! It was such a unique taste on cacio e pepe. If you like rice cakes chewiness/texture, it's a must try. - Grilled Mushroom: an unexpected favorite. It's super smoky with a variety of different mushrooms with some crispy potato chips served that adds to the texture. - Soondobu: a thicker textured than a traditional soondobu, but very silky and savory. A nice spicy, hot hit. - Korean fried chicken: a HUGE drumstick served with the sweet and spicy sauce coated a crispy fried skin. It had a less powerful kick when compared to korean fried chicken you get at CM or other places. It's a subtler taste. - Premium steakhouse set: you literally can't go wrong with this. Another unexpected favorite was the ssamjang (the sauce you add to your ssam). The kimchi was also fabulous! Drinks: TBD. Tried some unique teas (banana tea?? it was definitely good) but am eager to return to try their unique, Korean flavor inspired cocktails.

Serlina K.

Yelp
Bday dinner! They gave us the sparking pomelo drink to celebrate Crab Pancake ($25) - very crispy, great choices of sauce but very little crab, probably not worth the price Wagyu Set ($120) - great selections of meat, loved ribeye cap. they also cook it for you so all of them were super tender I also really enjoy the special ssamjang they prepared! Mashed Sweet Potatoes ($14) - so so good, super smooth and sweet! was skeptical at first but then was my favorite dish! Broccolini ($14) - nothing special could maybe skip Kimchi Fried Rice ($21) - too salty would not get again Overall great but overpriced

Zenas L.

Yelp
Always appreciate the love and consistency that the Perilla team provides! Food was incredible- Salmon bites with the crispy potato was a great way to start the meal. Dont skip the pasta: Kalguksoo and cacio were fire! The cocktails (perilla sour + passion of rice) were so dangerously tasty and creative- meats were top quality (dont forget to order the shrooms too) - the soondubu was silky and hit the spot! Barely had room for dessert- the gwabeggi was great (not too sweet- how koreans like it) to pair with some coffee at the finish line! The vibes and atmosphere were immaculate. Had a great seat that overlooked the dining room and kitchen. Service was phenomenal- Eunsoo took care of us the whole night and was wonderful; explained everything, gave great suggestions, and always kept our glasses full What more can I say but put Perilla steakhouse on top of your list! Walk it all off with stroll down the riverwalk!

Sam L.

Yelp
First time at the Perilla Steakhouse after several good experiences at the original Perilla. It's attached to the new Lotte Hotel and has a very high end feel from the decor to the menu and service. Delicious food made with high quality ingredients. Friendly servers and an excellent atmosphere.

De'Laka B.

Yelp
After my visit to Adler Planetarium, my Korean lunch tray hit the spot. Mackerel with rice, cucumber salad, kimchi and soup. Every bite made me happy. On a rainy day, this restaurants speedy friendly service warmed me up. Seems kinda upscale but I seem to fit in. Enjoy a cocktail at the bar and watch Chicago residents fill the streets through the window.

Leslie D.

Yelp
I went to Perilla with high expectations for brunch. If I couldgive 2.5, i would. Overall, my experience was good. The service was EXTREMELY slow, which, under the circumstances I appreciated, because it allowed me time to catch up with my friend. I had the burger (very tasty), fries (cooked WAY too long - slightly burnt), and the world famous pancakes. The pancakes were Excellent. While the food was good, I found the service to be lacking. It seemed as if they were paying more attention to the people around us... and that never feels great. They also let us know that the restaurant was closed, so we had to leave. However, the conversation with the table sitting next to us felt a bit different. I'm on the fence with this one. While it wouldn't be my first choice, if someone really wanted to go here, I wouldn't be opposed.

Timothy M.

Yelp
When we first arrived we asked if it was open seating at the bar.. the hosts answer was of course yes. However, the seating arraignment was set so that there wasn't side by side seating available for my date and I. When I asked the host what her recommendation was regardless of what I knew I was exactly going to do. Her answer was we should stand by the side of the bar and order and eat standing. Outside of that ridiculous recommendation the place was great! Amazing food and delicious cocktails. The bar tender was very attentive and entertaining. We ended up spending around $350 for everything but had a lot! Next time find a better host or trainer properly in how to handle situations better. Recommended!

E C.

Yelp
It was a fun experience. We went for my birthday. They had a special card and drink for me. The cuts of meat were delicious and the side dishes tasted like homemade. The location was nice and the lounge area and the hotel was also pleasant.

Melanie W.

Yelp
One minute away from my hotel. I stopped by for breakfast even though I am not a breakfast person. We ordered the Korean breakfast since it is something other than what we usually eat. It was nicely presented, and their banchan has a lighter taste and is not spicy, but I wish we could pick what side dishes we want. The seaweed soup was a little salty. The orange and orange juice was pricey but it was good even theor is no pulp, especially the orange juice, it taste different from what we usually drink, it is more like tangerine. It is worth a try, spending almost $100 for two people for breakfast.

Linda A.

Yelp
I had a wonderful experience at Perilla Steakhouse! Right from the start, the restaurant had a nice and welcoming vibe. Our waitress was amazing--she was super friendly and made us feel really special. She knew the menu well and gave us great recommendations that made our meal even better. The food was absolutely delicious! We tried almost everything on the menu including the Korean Lunch Tray, Katsu Sando, Steak Frites, Korean Beef Sandwich, Korean Fried Chicken Sandwich, and Chicken and Waffles. Everything was fantastic and was full of flavor. One thing I really enjoyed was the Wild Thai Banana; it was a fun and tasty spin on tea, I just couldn't get enough! All in all, Perilla Steakhouse has a perfect mix of great service, tasty food, and a stylish atmosphere. It's a place you definitely need to check out.

Ivory M.

Yelp
One of the best dining experiences I've ever had. The crab bite is delicious, light and fresh. The grilled oysters were light but flavorful with great texture. The crab pancake has so much flavor and freshness, but the sweet chili dipping sauce is mouthwatering. I ordered another side of that sauce to have with the rest of my meal. Please bottle this up and sell it! The rice cake cacio e Pepe wasn't my personal favorite because I can't separate the idea of a traditional cacio e Pepe so the texture through me off but the flavor was great. We tried the Wagyu set and every bite was tender & juicy. The A5 (of course) was like butter, but the star of the show is the marinated ribeye. One of the best cuts of meat, with the perfect balance of flavors from the marinade. The kimchi, daikon, and onion/jalepeno/daikon banchan were also spectacular, the flavors compliment the meat so well. But the ssamjang sauce!!!! Wow! So flavorful! This sauce is just an umami punch! (Put it in a jar, I'm buying!) The kimchi fried rice is a must have! While blue cheese and kimchi sound scary, the combination is delectable, and the smokiness of the cheese adds great depth. The Mac & cheese and beef fat fries were also good. Finally, our server, Vanessa, was spectacular! She was knowledgeable, friendly but not overbearing, and really helped us navigate this amazing menu. The bartender (young lady with a ponytail, working at the bar around 8pm on 7/27) was also great! The perilla sour with the saamjang was packed with flavor while not being overpowering. Also, one drink was enough for the whole night so that's a nice pour. The only shortcoming with our experience was having to box our own leftovers up. With a restaurant of this caliber, I'd expect the server or other staff to package the food up. Nevertheless, everything was delicious and even tasted good being reheated at home.

Kat C.

Yelp
Perilla is a superb combination of great food/ingredients, an upscale yet inviting atmosphere, and friendly, attentive staff! I highly recommend the bone marrow (even the toast it came with was exceptional!) and the Wagyu Steakhouse Set! They cook the meat for you (LOVE that they use beef tallow) , so you can just sit back and sip your cocktail or snack on the banchan. The red kimchi was some of the best I've ever eaten! For dessert, I got the panna cotta, which was the perfect palate cleanser after the Wagyu meat. My server, Sara (hope I spelled her name correctly) was the best! She patiently explained the menu to me, since it was my first time there. And she was great to chat with while she grilled the meat. You get different cuts of meat with the set, and Sara made sure each one was cooked to perfection. Every bite was warm and tender, not greasy. I absolutely loved my first visit to Perilla, and I hope to return during my next work trip!

Yelp
I came here for both brunch and dinner and I will say dinner feels way more thought out, which I guess is to be expected. my favorite dinner dish was the Bolognese kalguksu, the texture of the noodles was so good! I also had a dessert cocktail, the yakgwa cream, and it was amazing I think it's my second favorite cocktail I've had this year behind oiji mi's truffle cocktail. the service at dinner was also impeccable, so attentive and also really funny and personable. of the desserts, I think they're all really good except the carrot cake-- that one is nothing special.

Azia Y.

Yelp
The food was super flavorful and delicious. I really loved the lemony flavor that the caesar salad had. It was big lettuce leafs so we had to cut the salad but honestly so yummy and it comes with parmesan crisp. The fries were a little too crispy for my liking but the steak was cooked perfectly. Our servers were very attentive to all our questions and had a very personable personality. Perilla itself had a more upscale feel to it. Def want to dress up a bit, as the dim lighting really sets the mood.

Jackie H.

Yelp
Perilla steakhouse is a beautiful addition to Chicago's amazing restaurant scene. Located in a beautiful first floor space right by the river in the loop, the restaurant has some big windows for people watching and is bright enough that you don't need a flashlight to read your own menu and music isn't too loud as well for us millennials! The service is absolutely 5 star. From the hostess stand to the servers and manager who came by, each staff has clearly been trained to make each person feel very special and well taken care of. I mean look, we had a guy in a beautiful suit cooking our meat! The food is also scrumptiously elevated Korean-fusion, and there's something for everyone on the menu. If you're less spicy you can find a caesar salad, steak frites, and if you're spicier you can find authentic Korean pancake and Kim chi literally made by the owner's mother. The carrot cake was out of this world and I'll be dreaming of it until I see it again. Must go, and must go back again.

Yelp
Well, it's advertised as "American-Korean" and I should have adjusted my expectations thusly. Weird mishmash of cultural food. The server (nicely) pushed us to have the monkey bread. Similar to Pillsbury biscuits. We also had the kimchi rice. It, as advertised, comes with cheese. Not bad, just....weird. The banchan were unremarkable. After eating, my friend and I agreed we could have spent many dollars less, and much more authentically, at a real Korean BBQ. The service was good. My friend's cocktail was delayed due to the bar "being busy". A delay of about 15 minutes with no real apologies.

Yelp
Have been here for brunch and dinner and have truly had such good meals. Each time the servers were so attentive and the ambience is so pleasing to the eye. We tried the rice wine and cocktails, both were amazing. For brunch, the kimchi shakshuka, bibimbap, breakfast sano and pastries for brunch are such good dishes. For dinner, the cacio e pepe ttebokki, dwenjang, monkey bread and wagyu dinner was so good. Definitely will be back to try more!

Yelp
Flew to Chicago for a convention on Monday and made a reservation at Perilla Steakhouse for 8 pm which was a 5 minute walk from the my hotel. We ordered two of the wagyu beef sets, the half dozen oysters, crab pancake, the rice cake Cacio e Pepe, and Korean Fried Chicken. Dang and WTF! Perilla was outstanding! The food quality and execution were top notch. I would rank Perilla right there with the best Korean restaurants in Seoul, K Town LA and NYC and trust me I have been to most of them. The Wagyu beef set was amazing. Each cut was delicious and of the highest quality: the ribeye, short rib, ribeye cap, miyazaki a5 ny strip, marinated short rib perfectly procured. The oysters, crab pancake, rice cake cacio e Pepe and the Korean fried chicken were off the charts delicious. The execution and attention to detail! The flavors! Wow! Who is running the show in that kitchen? Perilla Steakhouse you made my night. What a meal and experience. Also appreciate the attentive and exceptional service from Eric the manager and our server. I would give Perilla Steakhouse 10 stars if I could. Be back soon.

Yelp
Perilla is Chicago's new downtown gem. The unique and delicious dishes paired with the impeccable service made our experience truly memorable. Thank you to the Perilla team, especially Tae and Thomas for their tremendous hospitality. Our visit was smooth, organized and took our palate to the heart of modern Korean cuisine. Try their wagyu or premium cut sets, share their appetizers and sides with friends and do not forget to savor a cocktail from their great selection. The restaurant's atmosphere makes it perfect for a business lunch, romantic dinner or a fun evening with close friends. Thanks again!

Yelp
Prefacing this by saying that my husband and I went to the original for our anniversary a few years ago, and really enjoyed it. We were very excited to see that Perilla was opening a steakhouse in downtown Chicago - which is basically a Korean food desert. The flavors were fantastic. The banchan were well made (love that the server told us the owner's mom comes in to hand make them), and the Korean fusion flavors were on point (we felt even more excited to eat everything after coming off of finishing Culinary Class Wars). The cocktails are unique, and the starters were amazing - we enjoyed the crab pancake and the monkey bread with the gochujang butter was PHENOMENAL. The meat is also very high quality. Unfortunately, where the food met our expectations, the service and details fell flat: - For a table of 5, we were only given 1 set of 4 banchan. Why? We had to ask for another set for the other half of the table, and while they were 'unlimited', they did not refill them unless we flagged them down and asked...which happened a lot for a party of 5. - This isn't a place where you cook your own meat. Which is fine. But for a fine dining experience, I wish they would have slowed down the cooking so more time was spent on describing the meat and letting us savor the flavors. They cooked multiple cuts in quick succession and we felt like we had to quickly eat and play catch up before the meat got cold. - The most disappointing part was that the rice was undercooked. We mentioned this, and they brought us another bowl. But obviously, it likely came from the same rice cooker and was the same. This is egregious, especially for an Asian restaurant. Overall, really enjoyed the flavors but not sure the experience quite lined up to the price point. Will we be back? Perhaps at a later point if they work out some of the kinks in service.

Yelp
My friends and I had such a lovely experience at this restaurant. The staff contributed hugely to the wonderful experience. The bartender provided great drink recommendations and our tab was seamlessly transferred to our table when it was ready. Our server was Kellen and he was so wonderful, knowledgeable and funny too. We really appreciated his positivity, humor and menu guidance. Meal highlights for me included the crab/potato first bite, kitchen rice (the blue cheese really adds something), the monkey bread and Caesar salad. The fried chicken was great too. If you like espresso martinis, there's one on the dessert menu and you don't have to save it for dessert. We had some lovely bottles of red wine and everything was nicely coursed out. We had non beef eaters, meat lovers and pescatarians in our group and everyone was able to find plenty of option that suited their dietary needs. The interior is lovely although you will be a little further away from folks since the tables are wider to accommodate the grills. The bathroom is a bit of an adventure to get to (up the stairs and in the hotel lobby), but nice. The service, atmosphere and food quality are aligned with the premium pricing. This is such a wonderful place for a group dinner or special occasion! Thank you Kellen for being a wonderful food guide, you were a huge part of why our experience was so phenomenal!!!

Yelp
I was invited to Perilla Steak for a business dinner by a few vendors, expecting a premium Korean dining experience. Unfortunately, it fell short in every way. As someone who travels to Korea frequently for business, I can confidently say this is not what Koreans would call Korean food. The dishes lacked the depth of flavor and authenticity I associate with true Korean cuisine, and the overall quality didn't justify the price point. While the presentation was nice, the taste was underwhelming. Sadly, I wouldn't recommend this place for anyone seeking genuine Korean flavors.

Yelp
Ahh! This used to be Fisk & Co., remember that? This is part of Perilla Fare which is in West Town and I haven't been there. I had one of their cocktails. The staff and service is excellent.

Yelp
Poor service. Website claims to be open for brunch till 2pm. Came in before 2pm And hostess refused to seat us. Lost a potentially loyal customer since I live nearby.

Yelp
Best meal I had in Chicago with 11/10 service! Special shoutout to those that served us, especially Cal, Shirell, and Meg. Yes it was a little pricey but worth every dollar. Don't sleep on the Rice cake cacio pepe, bolognese, or the Korean fried chicken. Kbbq was great quality but nothing particularly special. Will definitely return for round 2.

Yelp
I went with my Korean family (who were skeptical especially about the fusion dishes) but everyone was SO pleasantly surprised! 100% approved by everyone with plans to return with other family members :) Service was so good - so nice that they grill the meat for you at your preferred temperature and our server Tae cooked every piece to perfection. My aunt asked for hers to be cooked slightly more well done and he was very accommodating. I loved the vibes - decor is very inspired by traditional Korean decor/architecture from the wooden panels to red and green walls. We also got 2 bottles of rice wine which were both very different and delicious - their selection is very extensive, I like the variety in flavors. can't wait to come back

Yelp
We and our friends had a fabulous meal and some terrific beverage recommendations. The general ambiance of the restaurant was pleasant and welcoming, plus the built-in griddle was a fun touch. Thanks for the lovely dinner!

Yelp
Really great service and the food was awesome! Highly recommend the bananas and sesame dessert, wagyu bites, and wagyu set.

Yelp
Unbelievable food. Probably best meal of 2024. Such a fun experience too! Very cute restaurant as well.
