Google
Pricey, but the best macaroon flavors I’ve ever had. Great rooibos tea and decent cheesecake, but I would save that money and get more macaroons or a croissant next time!

Stopped here for lunch on a whim and so glad I did. The ham and cheese croissant was perfectly flaky and delicious. The chorizo burrito was also scrumptious. We also had the granola parfait which was perfectly balanced sweet, crunchy, and creamy goodness.

Google
Amazing pastries. The coconut almond frangelico was amazing and tasted like of like a mounds bar. Macarons were really good as well and they have a lot flavor options, the cherry and cream was really good. They also have sandwich and burrito options and made a great stop for lunch. Very good vegetarian breakfast burrito and they do warm it up for you when you order.

Eh, I guess it's okay if you're a "trendy" student who wants to look "cool" while studying. I didnt like this place at all, the sweets looked dead, the coffee was sour (some of the worst Ive had in my past decade of drinking coffee) Not to mention the service of the dead inside worker. Paying $4 for self serve nasty coffee isnt my style. Go somewhere else, the "trendy" pictures arent worth your taste buds

Great sandwiches and all of their baked goods are always delicious. Clean inside, with a wonderful quiet atmosphere.

Google
I've been here a couple times, so my rating is overall. I've enjoyed my menu selection each time, taste tester of all things sweets. I can't recall what I got last time but I remember thinking it was good but nothing to write home about. This time I tried 4 different macarons (mixed berry, Peanutbutter -chocolate , cookie monster, and espresso) and thoroughly enjoyed each. It's always difficult to find a place that can execute the macaron texture and flavor, these hit the bar for both! (Especially when directly compared to the shop just a couple doors down.) This is also saying something b/c I actually didn't end up eating them in the same day, in fact they sat down a couple of days but were still thoroughly enjoyable! I also tried a chocolate mouse/cheesecake layered dessert (can't remember the name of it), but it was also good, rich & flavorful. The staff are always quick and kind. The atmosphere itself is kind of stark. Clean but stark, I personally don't feel a warm welcome comforting feel so I've always opted to take my goodies to go and enjoy down by the water.

Google
A fun small bakery with a decent selection of pastries. We got there later in the day after dinner, so I’m sure there’s typically a better selection. The white chocolate dessert was delicious! A great balance of sweet and tart. We found the flavor options of macaroons to be a little unadventurous. And some of the more adventurous options weren’t all that good. Our favorite was the fig! Overall they seemed to have a lot of nice space for patrons to eat, work, or hang out with others. This was definitely a place I didn’t see being in the UP but Marquette is a great spot for it.

I loved the coffee..they have glazed croissants, my first time trying it..it was amazing..the lemon cookies were yummy too I liked the design of their cups They have indoor seating

Yelp
This place makes incredible desserts. The Macaroons are amazing! The lattes pair really well with their dessert variety. Inside is very bright and cute, the service is great, always friendly and quick. Highly recommend as a Marquette must visit!

Yelp
231 West Patisserie is a full service coffee shop with an incredible variety of top notch baked goods that is serving up all that deliciousness way up in the Upper Pennisula. This place is clean, bright, welcoming, and has it all when it comes to fulfilling your need for caffeine and carbs. Full menu of espresso drinks crafted to perfection by talented baristas. Lots and lots of seating. Tons of natural light in an environment that seems like it would be great for getting some work done. If you're in range of this place and needing to satiate your caffeine addiction, aim yourself in this direction and make it happen. You'll be glad you did.

Yelp
Love the vibe. Fun treats and great coffee choices! Friendly service and no line at all.

Yelp
Two words: GLAZED CROISSANT! From a family that lives in Chicago that are self-proclaimed croissant connoisseurs the glazed croissant that they bake here is top 3 of all time. It's the best parts of a donut and a croissant combined. Flaky, sweet, and doughy center. Insane. Staff is very friendly and helpful as well. The late I had was excellent as well. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Most importantly: we had a DELICIOUS gluten free cookie. I mean, wow! It had sea salt on top. I never knew something with dark chocolate in it could taste so amazing. Further, the macarons were filled with tons of filling. Yum yum yum. That's exactly what most macarons are missing! The space was clean and nicely organized. The servers were quick and kind. If you haven't been here, you need to try it out ASAP!

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
This cafe was very clean and nice inside. I think the prices were a bit steep for what you get, especially since there are cafes down the road for the same options but cheaper. That being said my drink was good but nothing crazy. However it was around $9 with $1 tip for an iced matcha with vanilla and normal milk (had to add vanilla as the matcha was not pre sweetened). Would choose other cafes over this one in the future.

Yelp
Outstanding desserts... we got two beautiful desserts and loved every bite. Such great flavor and texture. The strawberry shortcake dish was unreal. We're coming back tomorrow!!

Chet D.

Yelp
Chorizo burrito and the coffee was excellent. Great atmosphere. Will definitely return to try all the pastries.

Yelp
Awesome coffee, soup and cookies! The ambience is great for computer work or visiting with a friend. Always appreciate the modern scandi ambiance and pleasant welcome!

Katy W.

Yelp
Best macaron I've ever had! Pastries made fresh every day and decaf espresso is my version of heaven. We made two stops here during our short time in town and it wasn't enough.

Cullen S.

Yelp
We ended up coming here three times during our 4-night trip to Marquette. It's a great shop that would flourish in a big city. We had matcha tea, the pain au chocolate, daily pastry (Everything Bagel seasoning), and caprese sandwiches. Everything was delicious.

Smriti A.

Yelp
Great staff m, amazing food and cute bakery. Definitely a must go if you are in Marquette. I had their macaroons, vegetarian lox croissant, curried chicken croissant and everything was perfect and that doesn't happen often :) Thank you for the great brunch!

Christine E.

Yelp
My new go to for coffee and pastries when I'm in Marquette! The coffee drinks are well made and the espresso is balanced. Every pastry I've had has been delicious. Tessa's cookie and the Macarons are favorites but everything I've had has been great! In the USmost macarons I've tried don't have much of a flavor. These have great flavor and texture. I definitely recommend stopping by. The interior is super cute too.

Yelp
I've been to cafes all over the Midwest. This is my favorite. Flying Squirrel in Chicago is my other favorite so I could not give higher praise to this hidden gem. Coffee is excellent as are the baked goods. The service is always lovely. I love the atmosphere. The clouds that change color were perfect when I experienced sensory overload. It's a must see.

Iris S.

Yelp
SO yum! I got a lemon ricotta cookie, a morning bun, and a chai latte. The latte was really nicely spiced and flavored. Lemon ricotta cookie was a perfect moistness and a good mix of sweet and sour. Morning bun (a pastry roll with everything bagel spices) was really really good - definitely recommend. Aside from the food/drinks, they had lot of working space (two floors), clean bathrooms, and a lovely balcony. Everything was very clean, service was prompt and friendly.

Jess M.

Yelp
This place is absolutely fantastic. The prices are about as affordable as coffee gets in Marquette, free refills for drip coffee, and their 231 iced coffee is incredible. Their pastries and desserts are incredible. Great place to sit and study, or take a friend. Instagram worthy, and definitely worth visiting if you're just stopping into Marquette for a weekend.

Amber L.

Yelp
Such a fun patisserie with beautiful and delicious desserts that are seriously heavenly! We were visiting the Marquette area so we didn't know anything about the place and just knew we wanted something sweet after dinner, but were pleasantly surprised by the interior space and art decor (note: there's a ski lift set-up downstairs and some light up clouds). We ordered the Night Rider (dark chocolate and coffee brûlée from Velodrome; a local place that we tried the next day) and Petit Soleil (a lemony coconut dessert that was so fresh). I actually couldn't finish the Petit Soleil that evening so I stuck it in the fridge and it was really good as a semi-frozen treat too!

Gina F.

Yelp
The French macaroons are delicious and made to perfection! The lemon vanilla and toasted pineapple flavors are superb.

Lauren H.

Yelp
Love the aesthetic of this place! Super cool spot to work from. I always have to get macaroons, they are not too sweet like others I have had!

Nicole R.

Yelp
The aesthetic of this place is clean, modern and bright. The people that work there are super knowledgeable & friendly. The coffee was so damn good. And I'm a coffee snob. The pastries and desserts.... shut it. So so yummy. Highly recommended.

Shannon M.

Yelp
It's so good! I was only in Marquette for a few days, and since my appetite for sweets is insatiable, I bought some macarons and a verrine dessert. I figured they would be good, but maybe not good enough for the price, but who cares? But everything was amazing. I'm not even a macaron person, so I know 231 is good because I was INTO those macarons. The verrine was one of the best desserts I've ever had. I bought more desserts for the trip home and they were all good. I do think their berry macaron flavors are better than their chocolate, and I had a gluten-free chocolate chip cookie that tasted a little stale. But who cares? I've been thinking about this place ever since I got home.

Yelp
It took years for this to open and closed right before quarantine after just a month of opening, and it is still much better than Babycakes a few doors down. Hard to take a family in without spending $50 at a bakery, each item is $4-7 and drinks $4 or more each, so each person is about $10. The special deserts are pretty but don't live up in taste to their look. The design is eclectic and sanitary. The staff is professional and quiet, stoic faces. The coffee drinks are good! The food cases are pretty and clean! It's somewhere we'll go once a quarter but can't commit to regularly. In time I think they'll improve.

Yelp
Another surprisingly great meal in the UP! 231 West Patisserie is a proper French bakery with loads of croissants, sweet and savory pastries, and macarons. I came on a Saturday morning before the farmers market which takes place just behind the building. My wife and I ordered to split, a spinach and artichoke pastry, croissant, and a pastry with egg on top. All of it was tasty. We wish we had tried a macaron. I would definitely check this place out if we ever make it back up to Marquette.

M D.

Yelp
I wish there were more places like this when I was a student. There are a TON of seats and tables with a bunch of outlets. Drinks are HUGE and they don't up-charge for flavor or milk changes. The music is quiet enough to study comfortably and there are a lot of windows for brightness. Friendly staff as well :)

Elizabeth G.

Yelp
Great addition to downtown Marquette. I like having tons of options for coFfee and snacks. Unlimited coffee and beautiful and delicious sweet treats. The interior is bright and beautiful and relaxing. I'll come here again for sure! The only critique I have is the price of the sweet treats - I understand that thesE masterpieces take lots of time and expertise to make - so I understand. But just saying. Otherwise, awesome awesome awesome!!

Anna G.

Yelp
While visiting Marquette I found this gem. Fresh, delicious and professional! The food and drinks at this place are so good. I'm not sure I can choose a favorite but definitely try the illuminutti if you like peanut butter! The night rider and calypso are delicious as well. I came to this place every single day that I was in town. For breakfast I tried the ham & cheese croissant, scones, and tasty little biscuit. I tried the ham & cheese baguette as well as the vegan soup for lunch. There wasn't anything I tried that I didn't like. Try the 231 iced coffee! Yummy. I wish we had a place like this in my much bigger city

Heather F.

Yelp
Great find! You walk into a bright and clean display of many pastries. I had the Pain Au Chocolat and it was buttery and flaky with dark chocolate. There were two levels and plenty of seating including a chairlift (see picture).

P R.

Yelp
I stay in Marquette fairly often for work. Today I was walking from my hotel to visit Babycakes, when this place caught my eye. I thought, hmmm, worth a try, change of plans. I went here instead and am I ever glad I did! Wow. What a gem! Lovely little place, the staff was very friendly and helpful, and the pastry blew my mind! Very crunchy, crisp, yet light and airy at the same time. I highly recommend paying 231 West Patisserie a visit. You will not be disappointed!!! Love at first bite for sure!

Lorrie R.

Yelp
The food and beverages are outstanding!! Neat atmosphere, ideal location and sweet staff. FIVE stars, way to go in MQT!

Christine D.

Yelp
Yum! Make sure you get in early if you want choices for breakfast. We got there around 10 and most everything was gone. We did get to try the monkey bread and strudel. I regret not getting a small dessert to go for later!

Lee E.

Yelp
What a great find. From the ham and cheese baguette to the fruit tart everything was so delicious. Highly recommend getting everything. Thank you Amanda and team for the great service. Made the long drive seem short.

Barbara H.

Yelp
A great place for a light snack or early morning breakfast. I had a morning muffin which was a sugar coated, peanut butter and jelly stuffed roll. Very tasty. The latte was also A+. Took 4 macaroons to go and they were a hit.. very clean, professional service..

Erin M.

Yelp
Quick, clean, organized, not loud like most coffee shops. I ordered a iced quad Carmel latte and it was perfect! Not too sweet, not bitter - but strong. Great espresso!

Amy A.

Yelp
The pastries here are incredible! I had the almond coconut croissant and it was sublime. Ambiance is great and staff are friendly.

Dylan E.

Yelp
Tried their cookie and a case of four macaroons. I was surprised how delicious everything was in every bite. Even the presentation, I felt guilty not saving the box for the macaroons. If you're In the area this should be a MUST stop! (Came out here from bike even for the first time)

Nelly K.

Yelp
Best Croissants Outside of Paris! If you want real French pastries, macarons, croissants and coffee, 231 West Patisserie in Marquette, MI is the place for exquisite breakfast and afternoon snack. We are waiting for the baguette sandwich to return to make it the ultimate lunch destination. Ultra clean, spacious, and chic decor, with warm service.

Kim H.

Yelp
Great coffee shop with pastries. The iced coffee was great! Just stop in you will not be disappointed. Bonus they even have tacos and burritos!

Trenna S.

Yelp
Great customer service. The staff was excellent! Coffee was amazing and the food was delicious! I'll definitely be back when I'm in town!

Melissa A.

Yelp
Everything was amazing! Coffee was perfect and the pastries that we got (almond croissant, breakfast bun and one other) were absolutely on point. We also got a box of macarons that I can't wait to try!
