A Big Wood-Fired Dinner Spot Comes to Calabasas Soon - Eater LA

"Ampersand Calabasas is a big new restaurant in Calabasas known for its upscale ambiance. The restaurant plans to add 160 seats across a wide, U-shaped bar, dining room, and patio. The bar itself will seat 40 and act as a focal point, offering diners a view of the action throughout the place, including pizzas and animal proteins cooked in a wood-fired hearth, ice cream, and drinks. Chef Juan Carlos Olvera, formerly of Long Beach’s Sky Room, will oversee the kitchen. The restaurant is the latest venture by the father-son team Bernard and Jonathan Rosenson, who have a history of operating upscale venues in California. They intend to bring a California cool vibe with reclaimed wood, farmers market ingredients, and simply-grilled meats. Ampersand is expected to open in the fall." - Farley Elliott

Yelp
This restaurant was everything that I was hoping that it would be. From the moment that we walked in, we were greeted with warmth and seated outside on their beautiful patio. The space is lovely. Lily, our server, was fantastic!!! I will definitely ask for her next time. They have a wonderful wine selection which we paired with the focaccia and pizza butter. Do yourself a favor and order it! It's amazing!!!! For dinner we had the filet mignon, which was perfectly cooked with the zhoug on top which gave the filet a delightfully different flavor than your regular steak. We also had the carrot curry scallops. They were out of this world! The noise level is perfect, so you can have an actual conversation!! The motto of The Mulholland is "please call again" and I will definitely be calling again and again!!!

Yelp
Tried this restaurant on a Saturday night and was surprised that there were many empty tables. I suspect there is a good reason for that- service and price. The food was quite good, but fairly pricey for relatively small sized but adequate portions. Our party enjoyed the foccachio, the crudo, the eggplant, salads, the chicken and the burger. All were very good. They offer an interesting drink list - we tried some and they were good but on the pricey side. The atmosphere is ok, not special. But a couple of things were quite annoying. The waiter insisted that we had to order everything at once, which I find insulting and ridiculous. When I asked about that (twice), he ignored me. Then the appetizers showed up before the drinks were served, making the service seem rushed and this was something I find extremely unacceptable. When we checked the bill there was an extra add on for the "kitchen" - while a small amount, I hate being nickel and dimed. When I buy something, I don't want to see a different price than that on the menu, which in this case were sufficient to cover this add-on which I will call a rip off. So is it worth a visit? They need to fix the service problem before I would return. Food 4.5/ Atmosphere 3/ Service 2 (being generous here).

Yelp
I've been eyeing this restaurant for quite some time, and I'm glad I finally had the chance to try it. Overall, the space itself is beautiful, clean, polished, and welcoming. The service we received was also excellent, thanks especially to our server, Blake, who really made the experience more enjoyable. Star of the Night: Without a doubt, the focaccia was the best I've ever had. Perfectly fluffy, flavorful, and truly next-level. The pizza butter was a nice touch, though not as memorable as the bread itself. Appetizers: * Caesar Salad: I wasn't a fan of the presentation with the large anchovies on top. I don't mind anchovies in the dressing, but having them laid out on the salad wasn't appetizing. * Tempura Mushrooms: Great flavor, but they were overly fried, making them a bit too hard and masking the mushroom itself. The sauce that came with them was delicious, but there wasn't enough of it to balance out the crispiness. * Grilled Shrimp: Unfortunately, this one missed the mark. The plating was very plain compared to the other dishes, and the flavors just didn't come through. It felt like the dish could use a serious upgrade. * Hamachi Crudo: This was a highlight! The passion fruit purée paired beautifully with the fish, though the extra oil on the plate caused separation and made it hard for the sauce to stick. A small tweak here would make it perfect. Entrees: This is where the meal lost momentum. After the apps, it took about 30-45 minutes for the mains to arrive, which felt unnecessarily long since the full order had been placed upfront. By the time they arrived, the dishes themselves didn't really deliver. * Scallop Curry: Decent flavor, but the scallops could have used a much better sear to really shine. Something about the plate felt a little off-balance. * Pappardelle with Short Rib Ragu: The pasta noodles were well-made, but the short rib lacked depth of flavor and tenderness. It seemed undercooked for what should have been a slow-braised, melt-in-your-mouth kind of meat. Overall, the dish was bland and uninspired. Drinks & Dessert: I skipped the cocktails because none really stood out, but the glass of wine I ordered was excellent. We also passed on dessert after waiting so long for the entrees. Final Thoughts: The restaurant has a lot of potential, the ambiance is beautiful, the focaccia is unforgettable, and the service (thanks to Blake) was wonderful. But the rest of the menu felt inconsistent, with several dishes needing more attention to detail in both flavor and presentation. I'm glad I finally tried it, but for me, the focaccia and service were the true highlights of the night.

Yelp
I hate I forgot the name of our server, but he was delightful, and he's the one who told me to order that delicious chicken entrée. This was my first time visiting the restaurant and it was a hit! Very nice welcome and delicious food. I'm pretty sure we ate EVERYTHING. I'm looking forward to coming again.

Yelp
Last day of service was Oct 29. You will be missed. Although we could only dine here once, this truly was a spectacular establishment

Yelp
Popped in to grab some breakfast after having shopped at the Calabasas farmers market. I figured I'd give these guys a try. Breakfast service includes a limited menu and some drinks. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The fresh squeezed cara cara juice was very refreshing. However, the $15 breakfast sandwich fell short. The texture of the egg and the flavor of the cheddar cheese was very nice. Unfortunately, the bacon was so overcooked and extremely dry I'm sorry to say it had the texture of petrified wood and that spoiled the sandwich.

Yelp
Good quaint place for a special occasion. The outdoor seating is very nice. They have amazing bread so that's a must-try. Cocktails were okay, maybe go with the lychee drink. Their entrees are very flavorful, specifically the risotto and the tagliatelle. Took a little while to get tended to, but otherwise, service was good.

Yelp
Location 3: In Old Town Calabasas, CA, on Calabasas Road between Valley Circle and Park Granada. Very limited street-parking. Mostly self or valet parking for a fee. Venue 5: Beautiful, classy, modern yet comfortable indoor and outdoor seating. Large bar area. Relatively smaller venue. It is always very busy so be sure to make reservations. On Fridays and Saturdays, they have a late-night menu from 9:30 PM to 12:30 AM. At that time, they stop serving the regular menu and instead offer small bites along with the full bar menu. They also have a DJ spinning tunes during the late-night program. Service 5: Friendly, polite, pleasant and attentive. Food 5: Highly creative plating and presentation. Top notch ingredients and preparations. Plates are relatively costly, and appetizers are also on the small side. But the presentation, quality and taste overcome my criticisms. My recommendations include any of the Crudos, the Japanese Sweet Potato, the Petaluma Chicken, the Striped Bass, the Ora Salmon and the Seared Scallops. All were absolutely wonderful. We did not have any desserts this time. Drinks 5: Full bar. Excellent list of creative specialty drinks. Good wine list. Modest Beer offerings. My recommendations are the Espresso Martini and the Pink Skies. The last word 5: The Mulholland was a new find for me and indeed a highly satisfying experience. Will definitely visit again!

Yelp
Hands down the worst restaurant I've been to in LA. We came for a light dinner and could barely finish our food because of how bland and dry everything tasted. First, it took them 40 minutes to serve us 2 entrees but the restaurant was half empty. Starting out with the burger- the patty was extremely dry, absolutely no flavor, burnt and tough to chew that I might as well have eaten cardboard. There was not a single piece of vegetable to balance out this dryness, instead the patty was paired with an oily piece of cheese that just made the whole thing simultaneously dry and greasy. Plus the onions were burnt... I don't know how anyone can screw up a burger this bad. Next was the sous vide chicken (recommended by the waiter) which was really just 3 slices of dry and flavorless chicken with over salted mushrooms. The meat was supposedly marinated for 2 days but somehow was still so dry with no flavor. And that abominable dish was $42. We don't drink so we can't comment on the alcohol, the only thing that was good was the oysters on the shell. Can't say the atmosphere was good because they put us all the way in the back when the restaurant was half empty and we were the only poc couple there... Please don't disrespect your palate by coming here.

Yelp
You've probably driven past this place 100 times. This is your sign to stop and check it out. The Mulholland is relatively new to the area with just around a year in operation. It's been a number of businesses over the years but I think they've finally cracked the code with this place. The ambiance inside is open but intimately lit, perfect for close conversations. Outside on the patio is stepping into a green escape, with plenty of heaters to keep you warm during the chill of fall and winter. Everything on the menu sounded appetizing and after a lot of discussion, we settled on the oysters, grilled shrimp, house focaccia with pizza butter, beet and burrata salad and the Japanese sweet potato dishes. Each bite was better than the last. The acidic bite of the pickled shallots paired perfectly with the oysters. The pizza butter was intensely tomato and really tasted like pizza when spread on the warmed soft bread. There was a crispy topping on the Japanese sweet potato that added lovely texture and a savoryness that balanced what could have been an overly sweet dish. Our cocktails were just as impressive. Sittin Sideways was a great choice for the first drink. Light, refreshing and a fantastic way to start the meal. I followed it up with Good Witch, a play on a Thai tea cocktail. The drinks are just as much of a must have as the meal here. The dessert we chose was a delight in senses. Built inside of a poached whole apple, the cream and pecan crumble elevated a simple spiced apple to another level. The chef and their team really know how to stack flavors and textures to create a unique dining opportunity. Don't drive by again, pull over for a fabulous meal. Your only regret will be how long you waited to drop in.

Yelp
I came here with a friend for happy hour and it was super cute. The service was really good and everyone working there was friendly. My skinny margarita was delicious, as well as the food. I'd come back here just for the focaccia and pizza butter - it seriously changed my life! Even with some happy hour discounts, it was still pretty expensive for the amount of food/drinks we got.

Yelp
We were on our way to the pumpkin patch nearby and came across this gem. What a lowkey amazing spot. I didn't even know there was a little area in Calabasas like this. We were seated outside and began to order our apps and drinks. The drinks were delicious wow! So much variety and so unique. They even have various wines, which I wanna come back for because I'm a wine connoisseur!! The food was FIRE. We had oysters to start and had the pasta for myself. It was so cute and such a vibe. We even got the bread as an app too. The kitchen did forget 2 of our apps and we got it at the end, they ended up comping us for those 2 items and apologized which was very kind and will come back to this place!

Yelp
This review will be short and sweet because we came here after wine tasting, so I was on a good buzz and we all ordered very carb heavy! We don't live near Calabasas so I asked some friends, who do live nearby, where we should go and they suggested The Mulholland. It really hit the spot! The restaurant is very cutesy, very demure and I wish we lived closer. We ordered another bottle of wine and went to town with all the pasta. Service was great except they forgot to check me in with OpenTable so I had my account deactivated and I had to reach out to OpenTable support to get my account back. That was a little annoying, but mistakes happen so I won't dock them a point for it. I love that they had the fire place going and the vibes were nice and cozy! I'll be back the next time we're in the area!

Yelp
Officially opened on December 27, 2023, making a fabulous addition to old town Calabasas. This place gets the Te-see B. "woo to the hoo!" From the minute we walked in I was I love. The layout is simple...lots of wood, straight lines and a high ceiling in the bar area. You can sit here as well. The indoor dining is to the left behind the hostess station. If you continue straight towards the back it will lead you to a lovely outdoor patio. We sat outback with Brandyn as our server. He was very friendly, easy to talk with and attentive. He made our dining experience more enjoyable. We ordered and shared: *Margaritas 5/5 - the bartender makes great cocktails *Green salad served with drizzled green goddess dressing on hearts of red leaf lettuce & radishes - great presentation - 5/5 *The focaccia bread with pizza butter $14 - 5/5 - A Must! *Tagliatelle 4/5 - pricey $25 for appie size/ $35 for dinner size which wasn't that big. The food presentation was spot on. Brandyn told us they take orders all at once and present the food in courses starting with appetizers. *Entrance to restaurant is on the left side of the building *Street parking and valet available in the lot next door for $8 *Casual dress or step it up a bit like I did. *Kid Friendly *Dogs allowed outback only *Saturday Night open until 12:30am with a Live DJ set up by the bar. Adding this place to my favorites.

Yelp
Update: Service [3.5/5] I've been here a few times now and I hope one day they will get the service part down. It could possibly be that our server might have been new? We didn't see her very often and she seemed to be quite busy overall. Food [4/5]: *We tried a new dish they just released at the time, the Seared Striped Bass $39 (Summer Beans, Squash, Lemon Verbena). The fish was cooked well, it came with a bunch of veggies; however it was just a little pricey and fell short for us. I think this might be a dish I would suggest to share and then grab an appetizer. *I did enjoy the Scallops $36: Carrot Curry, Forbidden Rice, Thai Basil...had great flavor and it was the perfect portion. *My friend ordered the Ricotta Cavatelli Pasta $25 (Pea Tendril Pesto, Ricotta, Pine Nuts, Lemon)...This dish is actually an appetizer, great flavor and perfect portion if you want to try another dish, however again with the cost. I just feel it was a bit pricey given the size of the dish and it was an appetizer. Drinks: *The pours are definitely on the smaller side, aka portioned out, which rightfully so; however they really overprice their drinks for what you get, ie: whiskey neat. I still like the restaurant overall, but I think more for the atmosphere than anything else.

Yelp
Wow! This place is amazing! From the food to the atmosphere to the drinks! All the employees have been amazing and have recommended the best items on the menu! But my favorite part of this establishment has to be the bar! Especially the bartender ZacK! Zack is amazing! He makes the best drinks in Calabasas! If you want to come try some of the best drinks in town then you gotta come here and have Zack take care of you!!

Yelp
Super aesthetic spot with exceptional service. We came for drinks and a small bite to end our night. The drinks were great we got a manhattan and their "bad hombre" drink. Would have been five stars but there was no happy hour or live music they advertise on their websites for Friday and Saturday nights at 9 PM. The waiter said that they temporarily put a hold on the music since there weren't enough people in the restaurant during that time. Their website is false information. Just wanted to put this out there since we were expecting what was on the website. Everything else was great.

Yelp
First time here last nice. All around excellent. Quality flavors and ingredients. Oysters for a starter is highly recommend. They are dressed with aguachili, but not spicy (which is good, I LOVE aqua chili, but too much heat would overpower the oysters) Got the scallops for my entree. Also excellent. The curry was subtle and doesn't dominate. Thats hard to do, but they pulled it off. BTW, the Mulholland is probably my new favorite martini. I'd go back there just for that alone! The interior has a great ambiance. My only critique is the outdoor patio. It's not very inviting. I think they could do a lot to fix it up. Maybe replace the tents with arbors and vines? My advice is to get a table inside.

Yelp
Finally came here for dinner for the first time last night and both me and my husband agreed this was some of the best customer service and hospitality we've received at a restaurant in a LONG time. I wish I could remember our waiter's name, but he gave us great drink and food recommendations. Food was fresh and flavorful and the cocktails were delicious. We'll definitely be back just to enjoy drinks because they were that good. The space is also so much bigger than it leads you to believe based on the front street view. They have such a a cute outdoor patio in the back and it's truly such an enjoyable space to have great food with great company.

Yelp
Romantic, lovely outside atmosphere. We are gluten free, fabulous options. And 100% accommodating. Entrees were just ok. Bass needed sauce on it, not just on the side of the dish. Appetizers were really great! Ryan was the BEST server! He was great and sweet, interaction was so fun, great personality!!! It was cold outside. Even with the extra heaters. Bring an extra jacket.

Yelp
What's not to love? Easy menu with just the right amount of diversity. Creatively spun and executed with precision. Food and drinks here were well thought out with servers who are knowledgeable all the way through. Even the owner was on site and making his rounds. Please please please don't sleep on the bread. You cannot hype the bread enough. They could just sell that and take over the world. Seriously dangerous carb offering that is DIALED to perfection. Add that with the pizza butter and you got something that's truly addicting. Chef is not playing games. Would run it back here anytime I'm in town. 10/10.

Yelp
This is a hidden gem in L.A.! The service is good and the atmosphere is great, but what really sets this restaurant apart is the food. It's Michelin caliber! We've been twice and ordered the scallop crudo both times, and both times they were amazing. Actually we stopped by the bar last night for drinks and got the crudo again. The Focaccia is a must, every time. The Tempura Mushrooms were perfectly fried, not over oily, and still held the consistency of the mushroom. The highlight was the Tagliatelle! It came perfectly al dente. The sauce was simple and light and delicious. This pasta is on par with Funke pastas as best in LA. My only regret is we didnt order the Sundae. We will def be coming back , and coming regularly.!

Yelp
Came here on Sunday night to celebrate my boyfriend's stepmother's birthday A party of five of us ordered the following A bottle of red wine Two of their grilled shrimp apps The tempura mushrooms (which i loved) Two Caesar salad salads The seared scallops The salmon dish The chicken dish three coffees and a dessert to celebrate his step-mom's bday. Service was decent, prior to ordering, I had warned the waiter that my boyfriend suffered from a tree-nut allergy. He said he wrote it down on our ticket and they were going to make modifications to one of the dishes that had almonds (I think the salmon iirc). However, there had a bit of cross-contamination at the end of the night, which caused him to have a mild allergic reaction to which he is still experiencing pain from the next day after When the second server brought out the main dishes, I attempted to confirm if the plates were modified to leave out the nuts and he said they weren't and that our ticket didn't indicate the allergy. Okay, np we made sure to not have my bf eat that dish. As the night progressed, and the clientele died down, three of us opted for coffee as a nightcap. They had ran out of milk options, but made my boyfriend's with cream, and had just enough of a dairy alternative for me and his step mom for our lattes. I believe the only non-dairy option at that time was almond milk. Cant be too sure if it was the dessert (ice cream with a brownie that had walnuts) or some sort of cross with what spoon, frother, etc was used to make the coffee but by the time we were ready to leave, my bf started to experience aleergy symptoms. He was uncomfortable the whole drive home from Calabasas to the west side. Food was great, ambiance was decent, but I had really wished service was better, especially with us having an allergy we had to remind them of multiple times. I'm just glad his reaction wasn't severe enough that would have required me to run to the car to grab his epipen

Yelp
I came here for a girl's night dinner and sat inside this time. It's a little louder inside with the live music entertainment. For sharing we ordered tuna crudo, tempura mushrooms, grilled peaches, and corn tortellini. They're small plate shareables if you'd like to try multiple things. Tuna Crudo has great flavor and is fresh. Loved the corn tortellini with the charred corn pieces. The Petaluma chicken was moist & the mashed potatoes were delicious. Chocolate mousse was the perfect sweet balanced finish of Passionfruit & chocolate.

Yelp
Pros -the snap pea crudités and Caesar salad are super good -veggies were very clean and fresh Cons -parking is terrible basically valet only -they charge a 4% fee for even to go orders -pricey and smaller portions Rating 7.5/10

Yelp
Had a lovely evening here sitting outside. Ambiance is great and perfect service. Food is good but portions are very small. I suggest you toss a few more vegetables and sides on the plate for what you charge. The bread was delicious!

Yelp
We happen to come here last Saturday night after a event at a nearby restaurant. We walked in around 9:15 and ask if they were still serving, their reply was of course. The owner introduced herself to us, she was very kind. The server approached the table and took our drink order, we had a couple of glasses of wine. We then order the Focaccia with the signature pizza butter very good the bread is baked in house. We then had the Crab salad, Tempura Maitake Mushrooms this dish was so good. We then had some Scallops cooked perfectly. They sent us a comp pasta that they just put on the menu. The chef came to our table as well. I recommend this to everybody , they also have a kids menu.

Yelp
I've been eyeing this place for a while and finally went for dinner. I did feel like I wanted to leave a 4 star review, but a couple of things brought it back down to 3 for me. First of all, the service felt like it fluctuated between completely ignoring us to incessant hovering. Neither is fun The cocktail list sounded fun, but both drinks weren't great. I had an Old Fashioned sort of one that smelled great, but tasted meh. It had a lingering bitterness to it that I didn't care for. My wife had some gin thing that was just way too sweet for her taste too. The food was all pretty fantastic though. The bread with pizza butter - so good. It's not a focaccia like the menu says, but it's very well made bread. I liked the crab salad. It's a bit weird to assemble it yourself, and Dungeness crab doesn't need to be over spiced like it was, but overall was pretty tasty. The Japanese sweet potato was my favorite thing. I'll order one just for myself next time. And finally the burger. The bun on these is so good. The cheese was a bit of a miss. I'll see if they can substitute next time. Very solid food though. The prices though... just way too high. It's what will stop me from being a regular. The atmosphere of the place just doesn't scream "high end" to me. Even though the food was good, I left feeling a bit ripped off. They also add a tip for the kitchen staff into your bill. You can remove it, but that puts a weird vibe into place. I thought the tips got distributed amongst all the staff in most restaurants? Maybe not I guess? It was just one more thing, even though it's just a few bucks, that made me roll my eyes a bit. All this, plus the lousy service, makes it feel like you're really overpaying. If this place was about 30% cheaper I'd be there all the time though

Yelp
The ambiance here was great with music, but doesn't make it difficult to have conversation. We were seated indoors right by the door leading to the patio, so it was a bit noisy and drafty, but the host was accommodating and we ended up outside on the patio with a heater close by! My favorites of the night was the cauliflower agnolotti -- it had a good balance of flavors and textures, the truffle umami was present without being overpowering, and I loved the addition of the roasted hazelnuts for some crunch. My dinner partner really liked the tempura mushrooms (it was a bit salty for my palate) and the pizza butter that came with the focaccia. The bread itself was so yummy -- a good outside crunch and spring to the dough with some "pull". The flavor of the dip didn't remind me of pizza though. The chicken entree came recommended by our waiter. It was tender, but nothing to write home about. Our waiter was attentive and kept us abreast to the delays in the kitchen -- there was an unusual pause of at least 10 minutes between apps being cleared and entrees coming out.

Yelp
Tested this place out for the first time, great option for shareable plates, and we tested out a good portion of the menu too! Service was really friendly but there was a bit of a lag with our mains, they apologized about it taking so long so no harm done! It was very energetic dining indoors because there was a DJ that night and it made conversation a bit challenging, but overall really enjoyed this experience.

Yelp
Great experience! Delicious food and really unique drinks, I loved it all. We enjoyed all of our meals, and we ordered a good variety to share with the table, and dessert was the perfect ending to a great meal. We will be back!

Yelp
The Mulholland feels like a little Oasis! A true gem in the Calabasas area. The setting is intimate and all of the decor and fixtures inside the restaurant look stunning. Their back patio is spacious, and stays surprisingly cool on warm evenings! There is also a small fireplace and string lights that really add to the ambiance. The tuna tartare was a stunning dish, and so refreshing. The little gem salad was so fresh and loved the dressing to dip in. The grilled peach salad tasted like dessert! I loved it. The focaccia bread with the pizza butter was absolutely amazing and even a little on the spicy side. The bread was so fresh and soft. Loved the wine list and the selection of unique cocktails. Highly recommend the orange wine! The owner also serves wine that his family makes up in the Solvang area. Everything here is made in house and you can really taste the quality. All of the sauces were delicious. Don't miss dessert! While a sundae may sound simple, the one here is a true standout. Worth the splurge! I also got to try the lemon curd which was so delicious. It was like if a lemon bar and a pie had a baby. Served with ice cream! Great service from the hostess to the bartenders. This would be a great spot to grab a drink with a friend at the bar or have a date night. I would come back just to drink wine and eat the focaccia bread. Worth checking out!

Yelp
If you get a chance to sit at the bar and Chad is there make sure talk about the cocktail service he set up. They have some really innovated cocktails, not sugar bombs, and were super tasty. Make sure to also order the focaccia. Yes, I know, it's just bread, well, hell no this one is not! Nice and warm right out of the oven, this loaf with the perfect amount of seasoning and salt on top is fantastic. Bread still boring? Kick it up with the Pizza Butter side, ridiculously good. Here is the only draw back of the bread, it's really filling. So we ended up just sharing the Ricotta gnudi. Perfect cheesy goodness and I really enjoyed the onions in the dish too. Wish we were hungry enough for more as the menu looks great. Just means we have to go back and check out their patio when it warms up.

Yelp
My friend had seen something on Instagram about Paul Feig guest bartending at The Mulholland tonight, so we decided to check it out. Firstly, the ambiance is cozy and cute at the bar, but they have lots of seating. Great outdoor seating as well! We sat at the bar, first come first serve, and thank goodness we got there when we did, as we got the last two seats. (Our Uber driver didn't drop us off in front, rather made us walk 8 minutes to get there!) But most importantly, the food is really delicious! I had the tempura mushrooms with nori aioli. Wow. I could have gladly had two orders! My friend started with the hamachi crudo, which he enjoyed. For our mains, I had the charred cabbage, and let me tell you...best cabbage I've ever had. Cooked in a browned miso butter, with tiny diced apples and purée (also of apples?) with rosemary, and farro that was cooked just perfectly. My friend had the Petaluma chicken which came with divine buttery mashed potatoes! As I'm sadly doing no alcohol this month, I couldn't partake in the libations, but he had two cocktails, one that Paul Feig created; Dog Cat Mouse, a cocktail comprised of beet juice, cranberry, ginger, and Paul Feig's gin (Artingstall's Gin), and a martini that Mr. Feig made (shaken, not stirred!) I will admit I took a bartenders taste of the beet cocktail and it was delicious!! The bar area was busy, with one super rude patron standing behind me, snapping her fingers at the bartender demanding a drink as she "was tired of waiting". Just a reminder folks...there is a way to ask for a drink, and a way not to. Other than her, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. And hopefully she won't be there on my next visit!!

Yelp
Very happy that a restaurant of this quality opened up in the neighborhood. We have been several times and every dish we have ordered has been super tasty and many have been quite innovative as well. The bar is extraordinary. We'll keep coming back and happy they have opened Saturday mornings for breakfast sandos!

Yelp
An exceptional culinary experience. The environment is inviting; the staff are helpful and friendly; the menu is intriguing; the service is excellent, and the dishes are imaginatively presented and consistently delicious. Among our favorite restaurants in all of Los Angeles.

Yelp
I love The Mulholland! It's a little pricey, but the garden is beautiful. I can go there early with my kids and dog, sit and enjoy dinner and a cocktail. When I saw the "Adult Happy Meal" promotion, I thought it was genius a Monday night burger and drink for $25, especially when the place is nearly empty. We decided to go, but when we arrived, we were told it didn't apply to the patio. Why? We stayed anyway, and by the time we left 1.5 hours later, there were only about three more people out there. It seemed a bit odd. If you have a great idea like this promotion, why not make the most of an empty night and make it welcoming and easy for everyone, instead of only allowing people in the cramped bar to take advantage? Not a very smart business strategy, to not make the most of a great idea. This would have become a regular Monday night out for us, but now we will be back to a every other month treat

Yelp
Spectacular addition to Calabasas where the dining options just advanced many notches with the opening of Mulholland. We were lucky enough to visite on an evening when Cynthia the owner was subbing for a hostess and her and her family's passion and dedication to excellent food and dining shine bright. The wine selection is great and features many wines by the glass from their own vineyard near Solvang so more options than usual. Our server Brandon was very helpful in guiding us through the menu. The Focaccia with pizza butter is a wonderful twist on an old standard. The attention to detail in the kitchen is impressive and even the baby gem salad is innovative and well displayed. We don't usually order chicken for an entree but the Petaluma Chicken was outstanding. So moist and succulent and an interesting blend of white and dark with delicious potatoes on the side. The Ora King Salmon was also cooked to perfection not over or underdone and a nice generous portion. We didn't have time to stay for desert and will definitely return to try them. And the ambience is fantastic. We opted to sit outside on a chilly December evening but were warmed by the large fireplace and well placed heaters which all added up to the perfect evening.

Yelp
This was our first visit to Mulholland. From the moment we were greeted when we arrived to the last goodbye, everything was perfect. The service was outstanding. Brandon, our server was able to recommend house favorites. He was attentive and professional. The food was fantastic. We enjoyed a good sampling of the food including the fresh bread, tempura mushrooms, salad fish even the burger. All great. It is a bit hard to hear as the restaurant is loud when there's a full house. Overall, a wonderful experience.

Yelp
Over all first class service. Food was delicious little bit pricey but would return. Very lively hangout spot with fun drinks and great atmosphere.

Yelp
Great drinks, consistently good food, and chill vibe! Makes for an impressive date night. Zack & Alex make amazing drinks at the bar. The menu is updated seasonally and always brings good change, with a few restaurant staples like the Petaluma Chicken. The focaccia bread is a must, and their deserts are equally good.

Yelp
Six of us for dinner last Saturday night. Surprised the inside was empty of patrons. Possibly the back outside had customers. The food was excellent and the server was great. Very knowledgeable about their menu which is limited. So why only 4 stars? The portions were extremely small. Their foccatia bread and pizza butter was good size and very tasty. However, when the entrees came out in small bowls, we all kind of looked at each other with surprised expressions. Entrees were pricey which is fine, but not for the portions presented. Glad we tried it but probably won't return.

Yelp
What a disappointment. We ordered oysters, corn tortellini, sauteed scallops, the chicken -- lots of different things. The focaccia was amazing -- the best we've had. The rest was "okay"/good. What soured us badly on the experience at The Mulholland was our server, "C," who ranged from indifferent, to absent, to (unintentionally-but-exceptionally) rude. We eat out a LOT and this server was baffling. Before she even greeted us she told us we'd have to order all our food at once, because she couldn't do it in waves (or something weird like that?). It wasn't like we asked if we could order appetizers while we perused the menu, either. After the meal (and her continued unfriendly vibes), we had to ask to see the dessert menu (!) -- it was like she wanted us out of there (and no, we weren't taking long to eat; less than 40 minutes at that point). When she finally dropped off our bill (~$100/person), she didn't say anything, no "thank you," no "have a nice evening," no EYE CONTACT. She dropped off the bill as she walked by our table, glancing around the patio, seemingly bored. She gave off a very unwelcoming, weird attitude that spoiled what should have been a wonderful celebration.

Yelp
Check your bill they will stiff you food is average nothing special, also charge 4% extra I will be taking off upon request. $15 for bread $28 for four pieces of shrimp. Definitely not worth it

Yelp
We went for dinner last night and loved it. The food was great, drinks were on par, and it was a little cold inside but still very nice. I recommend bringing a nice cover up if you get cold easily. Lily Z was our server again and she did an excellent job. There was no real wait time on our food despite how busy it was. Overall we had a great date night.
