Yelp
Hands down best food and one of the best service experiences I've had in life. Travis is so phenomenal and so great at his job. His vibe alone will bring me and everyone I know back to Vic and Al's. He truly made us feel special and made amazing recommendations. The bartender Ben was great as well and the drinks were top tier! (Especially the orange drink) Now. The. Food.... We basically ordered everything. And everything was absolutely delicious. The fried chicken and rice, blackened catfish, gumbo, and beignets were... (insert chefs kiss). I go to New Orleans quite often and this food really took back! This place is a gem and without a doubt will be coming back any chance I get. Side note: The food is also really affordable. But it taste so good I honestly wouldn't have cared.

Mallory B.

Yelp
Eating here was a poor example of cajun cuisine. The flavor of the food here resembles the cooking of someone who has never been to Lafayette or New Orleans Louisiana and decide they could make cajun food. Being from Louisiana, this was a very poor example of my favorite food. There was a lack of flavor all around. The gumbo wasn't gumbo. The boudin balls were dry and weren't made with the correct rice which dried them out.

Jina P.

Yelp
The place is so pretty and really does bring a piece of New Orleans to Austin. A small menu so we decided to try the fried chicken and beignets which were alright. The sauce/ syrup on it was delicious but the beignets were a little dense. The Boudin breakfast sandwich was delicious and flavorful. We also got a pecan sticky bun which was way too sweet for us. They also do not carry any coffee. They do have unique cocktails they offer. The place was pretty and the staff was nice.

Yelp
NAAAAHHHH hear me out .... This.... This some of the best food I've had EVER. I'm from Dallas and stop here every single time I'm visiting Austin. The workers are so kind, hospitable and accommodating. Great energy , great music , amazing food. Mark my words... You can't beat this.

Asia E.

Yelp
While the service was great the food was just ok. I was not a fan of the breading on the fried chicken a bit to breast and lacked flavor. Definitely think the placed was over hyped on social media and nothing stood out to me as being worth trying again.

Yelp
I wish I could give this place 10 stars!!! Upon arrival, the host/main cashier greeted my boyfriend and I by opening the door for us. He then proceeded to give us suggestions since we had never been here before. We tried what he recommended and it was DELICIOUS. I also tried the spicy carrot, which the bartender recommended for non-alcoholic drinks. The vibes of the place were also so cute and you could tell everything was from scratch. I would return a million times if I lived in the area.

Yelp
Fried boudin: amazing. I don't know what they put in there, but there's so much flavors. Red bean fritters: new item on the menu. Beignets: fresh and warm.

Emily T.

Yelp
This was my second time to Vic and Al's and it was just as delicious as the first time! When you arrive there is a small parking lot in the back it shares with the place next door. They have both outdoor and indoor seating. When we arrived a hostess greeted us, assigned us a table and then let us know the order process. You place your order at a kiosk at the front by the menu and then order drinks at the bar. Everyone was very nice and helpful and staff were quick to clear plates and restock napkins. We got the Cajun corn, shrimp creole, and a pork poboy. The corn was delicious and flavorful, and that sauce around it was chefs kiss. The shrimp and rice was well seasoned and flavorful. And the poboy had a beautiful combination of flavors and textures all of a flaky/light bread. Great cozy vibes and 10/10 will be back!

Yelp
How have I never written a review for Vic and Al's? It's one of my favorite restaurants in all of Austin. My friend always raves about Vic & Al's (she even wrote in her own Yelp review that she will be raving about this place to all her friends and she did not lie LOL). It's actually such a pretty restaurant, and you can't really get a sense of how rustically elegant it is from photos. It's a casual spot, but wow. Their food is incredible. My favorite is the blackened catfish, and you have to replace the salad with rice. I love corn so much, and I love how their rice has corn in it. Every bite is so delectable, and I honestly find myself not eating as much just so I can save it to bring it back home. I've tried a lot of their other dishes too like their breakfast items, and everything is a home run. All of the employees are also so friendly and helpful.

Philip Y.

Yelp
A surprisedly great lunch place. Limited service with a simple ordering process. Lots of beverage selections. Although I just had water with a slice of lemon. Definitely worth coming back. BTW, my friend ordered gumbo on top of catfish and he loved it!

Phuc D.

Yelp
This spot's tucked away, so finding it's a bit tricky. Parking's tight, but inside, just order at the counter or hostess stand. Grab a table and dig in. The fried chicken and beignets were just okay, but the fried chicken was small for the price. Beignets were dense, like someone else said in a review. Pay at the counter when you're done eating.

Yelp
10 stars for the STELLAR service by Travis! He was so attentive, helpful, and gracious! I will visit again just for the srrvice alone! The food was good! We ordered the following: - corn dog (was smaller than the average but definitely tasty. It had a delicious mustard and tomato sauce. - the red bean fritters were a tad on the dry side but quite filling and shareable. - blackened catfish with red beans and rice (we asked and they did it that way for us!). It was very tasty! - fried chicken with rice (instead of beignets) tasty but too much sauce on it so I could only taste the sauce. I would still recommend this. - Cochon boy boy. It was cooked with whole grain mustard so that was the predominant flavor. Very tender and huge. - gumbo - my favorite bite of the meal. It was flavorful but not heavy at all. - bread pudding to go so haven't tried it yet. - "fancy coffee" was a cold brew that was delicious. - kiddo had "light drizzle" with orange, passion fruit and grenadine. It was DELICIOUS! They had 2 outdoor areas as well as a nicely sized indoor one. They make everything from scratch and you can tell the quality is 100% there. It's a little bit hard to find, but it's in the same parking lot as Dai Due, around the back Thanks for the great experience, Travis!

Regine M.

Yelp
I ordered their chicken and beignets and enjoyed it but preferred the beignets on their own. Vic and Al's is counter/bar service and their menu changes everyday and I would love to go back and see what other menu items they offer. They have a bar inside but also offer a good variety of non-alcoholic drinks. I also loved that their inside is dog friendly indoors.

Joanne T.

Yelp
This casual spot offers a mixed bag of delights. While the fried chicken and beignet combo is a tasty indulgence, the fried chicken was overloaded with syrup. Beignet is very dense. At $18, the portion size of the chicken seems a bit lacking. However, the boudin sandwich swoops in as a shining star on the menu, boasting delicious flavors and a satisfying bite. The ambiance is clean, providing a comfortable dining experience, and the service exudes a friendly charm that enhances the overall atmosphere.

Yelp
I brought a few friends to try Vic & Al's for the first time. I came here with my colleagues a few months ago and enjoyed the food quite a bit. The place has a very earthy vibe with all the jars in the front! Loveee it! I was expecting the same kind of experience this time around. To call it out.. this place has a somewhat rotating menu. This time when we went I had very limited options as a vegetarian. I got the roasted mushrooms which came on a bed of salad. While the ingredients were of good quality, the flavors & textures were underwhelming. My friends got the fried chicken & they thoroughly enjoyed it. I also got the beignets and they were super fresh & delicious. I just wish the place had more vegetarian friendly options. Hoping to give them another shot in a few months.

Kim H.

Yelp
Very casual order at the counter type of restaurant. Menu is small with rotating specials. Came here for happy hour. The gumbo was some of the best I've had. The red beans were also good and who can't go wrong with beignets. Service was quick but could have also been the time of day. I'll be dreaming of that gumbo until I get a chance to come back.

Brianda C.

Yelp
Saw everyone had been raving about and I'm glad I finally came out to try it out!! Menu changes everyday so only basing this off my Saturday brunch experience. Parking: they do have a lot! Limited spaces and kinda tricky to get out of if full so be aware. There is street parking available by the neighborhood residences surrounding the area so that's a plus. When we walked in there was a bit of a line and dining area was full. All of us in line were greeted by the host (he had great energy!!) He explained to us how the ordering process worked and basically you wait in line, order when it seems like some tables are going to clear up, tab is kept open so you can order drinks at the bar, then sit at the designated area, and then close out at the bar or host stand. Pretty simple but my only critique is people are also sitting at the bar so if you end up sitting there you or wanting to order a drink, it feels very crowded. Food: we ordered two blackened catfish subbed the greens for red beans and rice, beignets, and bread pudding. The catfish was delicious! I wished I asked for more of the spicy savory sauce. You can't go wrong with beignets! Fluffy dough with a generous amount of powder sugar. The bread pudding I would had skipped. Wasn't wowed. Drinks: We got two nonalcoholic drinks. The Light Drizzle is a must! Sweet and citrusy. I was intrigued by the Beet & Soda because I wanted to see if it would surprisingly be good but it literally tasted as it sounds :'). A no for me. Overall: if I had the option, I would rate this a 4.5.

Yelp
I finally tried the orange cocktail-- omg! Amazingly delish! Tart. Fresh! Not like anything anywhere!!

Yelp
I found this on a list of "hidden gems" in Austin - I was expecting a run-down, hole-in-the-wall place but there were chandeliers, open bar, and the atmosphere was bustling but intimate at the same time. Their Instagram page showed Duck Confit as the daily special, but they ran out by 7pm. Come earlier than 7pm for their daily special! Plenty of parking in the lot and the street; Vic and Al's is on a lively street with bars and other restaurants. Order at counter, and your food/drink tab is open until you close it at the end of your meal. I was greeted by Travis (blue braids and super friendly) and he explained how the seating, ordering, and experience would go. It was quite chaotic getting a seat on a Friday night; the outdoor bar ran out of seats but luckily another party left so we could be seated. It was a free-for-all for seating when I visited, apparently, this is not a common issue. I ordered the Blackened Catfish and Potato Salad. I've been eating a lot of seafood from oceanside cities, and I was impressed with the catfish! I'm used to getting butter/garlic so this Louisiana / Texas style was pleasantly different - lemony, saucy, nice touch of parsley and veggies. Overall, the food and experience was pleasant! I'd love to come back to try the Gumbo, other entrees, and their daily specials.

Yelp
Tried this spot on a Saturday for brunch. The brunch menu options are few. My bf and I tried the chicken and beignets, boudin balls sandwich and gumbo. The boudin balls were fried very hard. It was hard to eat. The gumbo was good, not spicy. The drinks were good.

Tashyra O.

Yelp
Came here because everywhere else was closed on this beautiful Monday. Ambiance and staff were so kind and accommodating! Food was great! My man really enjoyed the corn dog and the blackened catfish! My favorite was the gumbo and the blackened catfish as well! The cocktail was sooooo good! Never really thought of having carrot juice in a cocktail but it was so yummy! Definitely a must try!

Terri N.

Yelp
I stopped by this place as a recommendation from an employee of Le Labo. I'm so glad that I tried it. The service was quick and courteous. We placed our order and had the food at our table within 15 mins. We sat outdoors and the weather and ambience was delightful. The food was super tasty and the red beans and rice were my favorite. Because I'm a wimp when it comes to spicy foods, it was a little hot for me. But the flavor of the food was great! I'll be back on my next trip to Austin.

Colombo R.

Yelp
My experience was amazing. Food, service, ambiance, everything was amazing. I loved how they where so knowledgeable on all the plates and drinks. Definitely would recomend.

Tina D.

Yelp
The vibes here are immaculate. A nice place for friends or date. The food menu is very small though. I tried their salmon, and all the greens made it really healthy. Their fried boudin was good but nothing special to me. Their beignet are a nice dessert at the end. They do have a lot of drinks option with mocktails too

Derek S.

Yelp
My go-to for some good gumbo whenever I'm driving up I 35. The fried chicken is solid as well. It's too far for me to be a regular, but this place is always strongly considered when we're in the neighborhood.

Edward W.

Yelp
Walked-in on a Friday night and there was no wait. Order at the front and then find your seat. Loved all the dishes we tried except the boudin. Beet salad - tasty and paired well with the cheese Fried chicken thigh - two large pieces of chicken Fried boudin - interesting concept but least tasty dish Blackened fish - tender juicy fish paired with a delicious salad Gumbo - loved it, not overly salty like many other places and tons of filling cochon poboy - sizeable sandwich overloaded with toppings and juicy shredded pork

Ria D.

Yelp
My friend suggested this restaurant because her friend suggested it to her. We came during dinner time on a weekend and it was a bit busy. The concept of this place is that you stand in line to order your food, when you're done, you can get some drinks at the bar, while they prep your table. I guess I didn't get it at first because I didn't sit down right away, even though our table was ready. In any case, it wasn't too long of a wait. As for the food, just know that the menu changes. We ordered a salad with lots of mushrooms in it and it was delicious and plentiful. It was fresh and the mushrooms soaked up all the delicious seasoning and flavors. Then we ordered the cochon de lait. It was a burst of flavor. I appreciated the different textures this sandwich had. It was crunchy from the vegetables and the meat was tender. Then you get a nice crust on the bread but with a pillowy inside. As for the dessert, we ordered the beignets. I think that wasn't the best. It was a tad hard and we were disappointed by it. However, the other dishes made up for the lackluster beignets. We did order some drinks. I don't remember what it was called but mine had tea in it and non-alcoholic. My friend had the alcoholic version and she said hers was delicious, as was mine. I cant tell you about parking because we took a rideshare. But it looked like there was a good amount. I was also nice that there was seating outdoors but I can imagine getting super hot , though we did notice that they had strong misters outside. The decor and ambiance were beautiful. The price point were fair, as were the portions. We wanted to try more food but we were too full from our lunch. Next time, we definitely need to order other dishes because it was pretty delicious. I would definitely come back again.

Yelp
The food was good, but the business model is a bit unfriendly. You step up to the counter to place your order from the posted menu. The guy who took the order was barely civil, not inclined to answer questions. I asked for coffee and he said I had to order my drink separately, "over there," indicating with a wave of his hand. Uihhh, okay.. When he took my card for payment, I had a moment to ponder the question of how much to tip for non-service, but I didn't have to decide. He ran my card and handed it back without the standard offer of a receipt via print or email. Or even a total. I was annoyed at having to place a separate order for coffee--especially since they didn't have anything but "fancy coffee." I said I'd just have water, and got another wave to show me where to pour my own. Room temperature. The food was actually pretty good. I had fried chicken thighs on rice. . . BUT I can get tasty fried chicken thighs and a side, served in the same little metal tray, along with friendly table service and refilled ICE water, for half the price over at my favorite chicken joint over on Burnet--and parking won't suck. I think I'll go there next time. . My friend and I agree that we won't be back

Wendilyn I.

Yelp
The food here was delicious and the service was very friendly. The location itself was a little hard to find because you can't really see it off of the street. Its by the side around the corner from The Pretty Kitty. Their sign isn't the easiest to sport but its there. There is parking in the back behind the restaurant designated for patrons. If you want the place to yourself, go on Monday during lunch hour when it opens. This was my first time there and it was spectacular. First, their menu is small which means that they really take care to make everything there when you order it. The place is a little smaller and cozy. Everything was decorated in a very intentional. I wouldn't call it rustic but it had a bit of that feel. For food, I had the cochon au lait which was seasoned spectacularly. It was a heaping pile of meet with delicious cole slaw and mustard with the actual seeds. The tangy flavors went together delightfully. I also was able to try the side car drink and the chicken with beignets. The side car presenting was a little interesting but the flavor was great. Very orange and citrusy without being to syrup-py sweet. The chicken and beignets were like their version of chicken and waffles. The sauce was delicious and the beignets were perfectly flaky. I could see this place being good for lunch, brunch and dinner. I'm not sure when are the busy times but even if there is a little bit of a wait, I'm sure it would definitely be worth it.

Askia L.

Yelp
I swung by this spot for lunch on a Monday and it was just me and my friend there. It's one of those places where you order at the counter before sitting down. Heads up, the sign outside is kinda tiny and hidden, so keep your eyes peeled when you're driving by. For my main dish, I went with chicken and beignets. Totally hit the spot. The chicken was super flavorful and dripping in honey, and those beignets? Fantastic, especially with the sauce they came with. I also snagged a bite of my friend's pork po'boy, and man, was it good! The meat was smoked just right and packed with flavor. The place isn't huge, so I wouldn't bring a big group - maybe six people max. But other than that, it was a solid experience. Definitely worth checking out.

Stephanie G.

Yelp
Another day, another meal! This place is such a vibe! We came here for an early lunch and decided to sit outside since it was nice out. You place your order at a kiosk and your drink order at the bar. It's an interesting model, since it was giving restaurant not fast dining, but we obliged. We both ordered the blackened catfish with a side of potato salad and red beans and rice. The catfish was flavorful, moist and flakey. The salad was perfectly dressed. I appreciated that the potato salad had texture and you can tell they make it in house. The red beans and rice was my least favorite. The beans were too aldente for my liking and the overall flavor fell flat. My favorite item was the orange drink, a play on a margarita but with carrot juice. It was very refreshing, you could barely taste the carrot juice! Definitely worth a visit, I'd like to try brunch and dinner since they feature different menu items. Food rating Blackened Catfish 9/10 Potato salad 7/10 Red beans and rice 2/10 Orange drink 9/10 Customer service 10/10 Ambiance 10/10

Yelp
Went here for a date night with my sweetie, the restaurant is tucked away, and super cute. It was pretty busy, and I will say parking wasn't ideal. We ended up parking in the neighborhood across the street. It was short walk, and totally worth it! We went with the daily special fried chicken smothered in brown gravy on a bed of mashed potatoes, and a side of boudin balls. The entree was just like home cooked dinner from grandmas house and honestly I could've eaten three orders of the boudin balls. The Mocktail was to die for, I love that they have so many Mocktail offerings, it gives us sober people a little something fancy to sip on. Prices and portions were great, service was quick and super friendly and helpful for newbies. We will definitely be back for those corn dogs!! Thank you guys for bringing us food that tastes like home!

Brenda G.

Yelp
My husband and I and our infant son met another couple here for a happy hour on an early Friday evening. Service is counter based. You walk up to the bar to place drinks orders and can place food orders at a screen on the side of the bar. I ordered the iced tea cocktail and it was good but light on alcohol though. We had the corn dogs, gumbo and red bean fritters and all the food was excellent. Parking was available in a small lot behind the spot. People def stopped by casually as they were walking in the area. The only issue I had was similar to what another reviewer has mentioned, the service at the screen where you pay is not great, barely civil. The guy was a little standoffish. It's a little unclear how you place orders so I went up to the screen thinking it was self serve and he was not too pleased that I went to the screen. The gentle man at the bar was really nice though so I'll only dock one star. As another review mentioned, the service

Brittany E.

Yelp
I'd been hearing about this place for a while and expected a little, hole-in-the-wall Cajun restaurant. I was surprised when I walked in and saw about 50 mini chandeliers and a nice cocktail bar! Some friends and I stopped by before catching a play across the street and all enjoyed our food. The six of us got several different dishes including the Cochon de Lait Po Boy, Jambalaya, Corn Dogs, and Blackened Fish with Greens. There wasn't a bad dish in the bunch. My boyfriend and I split the Po Boy and Jambalaya (both pictured). The meat on the po boy was super tender and tasty. We both thought it was a good bread to filling ratio. I loooooved the jambalaya. It had chicken, shrimp, and sausage in it and was really flavorful and well cooked. We all had a few cocktails of which I can't remember at this moment. :D Service was friendly and fast which was nice since we were in a time crunch. Overall, the dinner was great albeit a teeny bit pricier than I expected. I look forward to coming back to try more dishes.

Yelp
So good!!! Recommend 1000%, everything is made from scratch and is organic. Travis was amazing!

Yelp
Representing Austin, TX as a true foodie metropolitan hub Food: Fried chicken and blackened catfish were delightful, flavorsome and cooked to perfection! The rice that the meat was bedded on was also tasteful with the spicy aioli sauce. Then I added their homemade Tabasco sauce which elevated everything even more. My favorite side was the roasted beet salad topped with cheese was a fresh palate cleanser. The fried potatoes were not oily, seasoned well and topped which a nice grated Parmesan cheese. Beans and rice were hardy! Their style of Arnold Palmer was a Fancy tea: earl grey, sassafras and cello. Dessert: Beignets were good but I have had better; however, the bread pudding was the star dessert coated with powder sugar and a lovely berry compote at the bottom. The fried bread pudding had a hint of bourbon vanilla taste accompanied with nuts. Service: Shoutout to our waitress JoJo! She was absolutely amazing and welcoming beyond measure. She walked us through everything and ensured upmost Texas hospitality throughout the entire experience. If you have the pleasure of having her, I promise you will have great customer service Ambiance: It was a nice picnic style interior giving classy backyard with ceiling light decor and a wall of spices Overall: I been raving about this place to all my Californian folks and can't wait to go again when visiting the sibling at UT Austin! Go Longhorns

Emily K.

Yelp
Super cute interior with delicious drinks and food. Our group had the po boy, fried chicken and catfish special, along with boudin balls and potato salad. The potato salad is one of my favorites I have found and tastes just like my moms homemade recipe. Everything was delicious. The breading was light and the chicken tender and well seasoned. I appreciated that sauce was so flavorful without being too spicy! The drinks were super unique, refreshing and well made. The process could be improved. Everyone was nice and welcoming, but it was sort of confusing where to initially start a tab, and whether it was seat yourself. Ordering food at what seemed like the hostess stand backed up the entry way for people just arriving and people weren't sure if there was a line/what line to stand in and the lack of easily visible menus with details made the order line go slow because people had a lot of questions and couldn't easily make a decision before getting to the front of the line.

Dora S.

Yelp
Cute little modern cajun spot! I was not a fan of the gumbo but i got a fish dish and it was cooked to perfection. The sauce that went with it is to die for. Also...you have to get cocktails here because its some of the best drinks i've ever had!

Eric B.

Yelp
OMG. Used to live in Houma, LA. Legit, in a word. Get the Gumbo--don't look back. The rest--can't go wrong. Honestly, I"m just so excited to find flavor profiles on target that I can't speak enough. The music is like a soft New Orleans jazz, and the staff is simply smiles and happy...the food is thru the roof insofar as the gumbo and chicken, but I will be back to get the rest after this stop. DANI ROX!!! Outside of Sawyers, this is the ONLY place in Austin I'd hit again for Louisiana fare. Luv it!!!

Adriane V.

Yelp
Walked in to be served immediately. Placed my order to go as the parking is scarce. I took a seat at the bar, Ben took care of me very professional and quickly. While I waited for my order I enjoyed a delicious Sidecar. I arrived home and engulfed in a house salad with crawfish/shrimp etoufee and it was by far the best outside of homemade. Like Gumbo I don't eat restaurant etoufee because it is often scorched and tomatoey. However, this rendition was Delicioso! Thank for great service and tasty Sunday meal. See you soon!

Rachel W.

Yelp
My friend and I love New Orleans food and culture. This restaurant is the closest thing to NOLA that you'll get in Austin. The decor gives off a rustic and southern vibe. I love sitting on the adorable patio when the weather is nice. Ordering is simple and efficient- you place your order at the front and it is brought out to you. I really love their gumbo and bread pudding balls. Their corn dogs are also a must order! That is a menu item that I order every time I eat here. The waitstaff and bartenders are always pleasant and helpful. You can tell that this restaurant takes pride in what they cook up in the kitchen and mix at the bar. 11/10 recommend this place to family and friends!

Cliff S.

Yelp
Not friggin' bad! One of my favorite cuisines in the world is Cajun/Creole food! It was a very interesting way to take orders, you take them at the front and pay at the front, you also pay for your bar tab at the front as well. They have a switching menu daily so it depends on what day you go. We went on a Saturday and we had red beans and rice, gumbo and I had myself some blackened catfish on top of salad/greens. It was very juicy and not dry. It was also very tasty. Great staff, cool outdoor area and indoor area as well. It's a bit small but it's the small places that sometimes pack the biggest punch with its service and food. I'd love to try the fried chicken on rice next time!

Krystyna L.

Yelp
Vic & Al's is consistently incredible. A family owned counter service to table restaurant filled with caring staff and the most delicious food. The happy hour is a great deal. I have confirmed the gumbo with a New Orleans native, top notch. They are dog friendly to boot! The space is gorgeous and homey, so welcoming.

Taylor K.

Yelp
We were looking for a spot to get a quick dinner before a show one night; we only had an hour so it needed to be quick, but we also wanted something tasty. Our friends who had been here many times suggested Vic and Al's. The set up is pretty fast casual-esque. You walk up to the counter and place your order and then take a seat. They had both indoor and outdoor seating. The lady taking our order took the time to walk us through the (small but delicious) menu, and it helped that we could see the food coming out right behind her which inspired our choices. I opted for the catfish on greens which was super flavorful, light but filling dish. I also tried my friends pork chop which was moist and has a decent kick to it! The fried chicken was also great. I also appreciated the many drink options that they had, especially the fact that they had some interesting looking NA options too. Oh, and we were in and out in 40 mins so it checked the box for being both a quick and delicious bite to eat!

Scott M.

Yelp
We were in town visiting and we were taken here for lunch by our kids... really cool little place with great service... the menu changes with the seasons so these folks get creative with different ingredients all the time. The pork sandwich is really tasty with a schmear of mustard under a really juicy and flavorful shredded pork service and a crust bun... go try one

Amanda P.

Yelp
The blackened catfish was good. The greens were amazing. I had some kind of non alcoholic fizz drink that was also pretty good. The reason I don't give 5 stars, or at least 4, is because I had ordered both the catfish and bread pudding. The catfish came. And went. And I waited. Finally, I went to the counter and asked if they'd forgotten the bread pudding. The gentleman said it was coming, but that because it was slow, they would take it off the check. So I paid and returned to my table. And waited. Eventually, the man came over and said that they had lost the check and too bad. He didn't actually say "too bad," but you know. So I left. I mean, I can live without the calories so I didn't lose an ounce. But it seemed rather unprofessional. Would I return? Yeah. Probably. But there are a LOT of great places to eat in Austin, so it likely won't happen.

Yelp
Some of the food items were extremely good but the bread pudding was terrible... like completely different than what you'd expect. I think the staff were amazing but I personally would never go back. I don't like that they have so little options and you have to ask for drink prices. A bit pricy but I guess it's worth it. It was very well decorated and had a good vibe just not the vibe for me. Also please explain why there is zero signage from the street... are they trying to hide or something?

Yelp
What a cute place! Parking was a little challenging and it's a bit hidden. Once you get in, there is a whimsical and quaint interior. Ordering was a little odd, you order when you walk in and then they assign you a spot. However before you sit you can also make your way to the bar and order there. They'll bring the food out when it's ready and you go back up to the front when you want to close out. Food wise, portions looked small but was actually quite filling. I got the fried chicken which wasn't crispy in a traditional sense but still juicy. I think the sauce may have made it a little soggy. The rice was good and the picked onions had a kick. I also ordered beignets to share and they were soft and delicious too. There's a couple patio tables and private tables inside with about 3 community tables. Casual vibe but could make for a cute date night spot too!

Yelp
This place is super cute!! It gives off big Austin vibes with all the chandeliers and wood. The waiters here were all super nice as well. It was my first time there and one of the waiters gave me an explanation of their menu which was much appreciated. If you're looking for an authentic cajun/creole place, this is definitely not it. But the food here is still quite tasty with good portion.

Yelp
Came to Vic and Al's for my bday dinner. The food was pretty good. I love the idea of counter service, so we ordered our food then slide down to the bar to get some cocktails. Our bartender was AMAZING!! The drinks were delicious and we chose to sit outside at a small table. The ambiance was so chill and low key! The food tasted good and was delivered in an extremely timely manner! Love this place!!!
