First visit we did appetizers for lunch and it was great - the pickles, ravioli, fries and tenders were all very good. The lemon drop martini was DELISH. Made well! The second time we went it was sooo slow. It took at least 15 min to get menus once we were seated and took about 45 min to get the food once the server came back to take our orders, which also took a while. It was 2pm on a Friday, and other than what looked like a wrapping up work lunch (they had checks and boxes for leftovers when we were seated) there were only 2 tables of guests, so the delay was not due to it being busy. That day I got a side salad and a chicken wrap. The salad was very good aside from coming with an item I asked to take off. I did ask for no tomato, as you can see in the pic, they were added. I didnt get pictures of the wrap, but it was very meh. I would not order it again. I did not like the BBQ sauce that was used. Very overly sweet and not a good flavor. I also found there to not be a ton of chicken, it was like a second salad... TONS of romaine. I believe the wrap was called Lakehouse Chicken Wrap. Side note. We were seated near open windows and the construction was. Abit loud, which was ignorable, however! there was a phone on the server station that was ringing CONSTANTLY. I have no clue what that was about, but it was so annoying. We did alert a server but nothing was done about it. Overall, I would go back but maybe just for apps and drinks. The drinks was well made and they had a decent beer selection as well. The look of the bar is nice and I hope they can stay open longer than some of the other places that have been there!

I've been to other Johnny Black's locations and I am so glad to now have one on the Nautical Mile! It was a Saturday night and they were very busy, but they accommodated us within 25 minutes, which isn't bad for a walk-in. The fish and chips (thin, crisp batter) and crab cakes were incredible, both tasted very fresh! I can't remember the name of my drink but it was fruity and I loved fun glass and coconut rim! I really liked the atmosphere and fresh design- they sure did a beautiful job designing the space! There were so many delicious options from the menu that I can't wait to try!

First time trying this place, and I wasn't impressed. Our server was friendly but forgetful with our order. The vibe is more of a casual bar than a restaurant. I had the steak bites with fries. The fries were great, but the steak needed more seasoning. The oysters weren't fresh, and the blackberry bourbon drink tasted watered down. The prickly pear drink was good though. Overall, I'd give it a 2.5, rounding up to a 3 for the service and fries.

Exceptional service!!! Great place to watch the games and have a good meal. Lauren, our server was AMAZING! Lauren was fast, efficient, knowledgeable, personable and made our dining experience wonderful. Her recommendation of Steak frites was a great choice. Definitely will be back.

Went on a Friday evening with a group of 6 people. our waiter was a younger man who was amazing . We order many thing things the B sprouts app which was amazing with so much flavor, we also had a flat bread pizza that was freshly made and crisp. I had the steak fries which where pretty good, they had cook to perfection and fresh fries. It can be pretty loud due to all the people and TV and music. however it was not to much.

We came here at 5pm on a Saturday. The place was packed and had a 30 minute wait for the two of us. The food was good. We tried the Caesar salad, the Famous Beef sandwich, and the Tavern Burger. The Caesar salad was very heavily dressed. The beef sandwich was average. It isn't something we would go back for. The Tavern burger was really good. I also ordered the steamed Brussels sprouts as my side dish. They were inedible. I tried so hard to eat them but they were so bland and basically raw (under cooked.) They were so crunchy. They also weren't trimmed and many had the stem on them. Here are some other thoughts about the restaurant/ambiance: This place is only a "Lake House" in name only. Do not come here expect anything nautical themed. The floor was SO slippery. Not sure if there's a coating on the floor or what, but we both felt like we were going to slip on the floor of the restaurant and the bathroom. It was fairly noisy in there and the music added no ambiance. All we could hear was bass. It was weird and no music at all would have been better. Lastly, there just isn't ample area for people to stand and wait to be seated. We saw a group of 6 waiting right in front of the hostess stand and the people were completely blocking the flow of the wait staff and other people walking through. I'd suggest Johnny Blacks coming up with a solution to this if they expect to remain busy and having people waiting.

This was our first visit to Johnny Black Lake house and I was a good experience for our first visit. It was a hot and busy day and the restaurant was packed so the service wasn't terrible, but it wasn't exactly great either. just a little slow but for the most part satisfactory. We had for an appetizer the pretzels and cheese sauce unfortunately, our pretzels were really really overcooked and burned on the bottom so we wind up sending those back and the waitress was very apologetic and said that she would get us another order but we declined. I ordered the Tavern burger with a truffle fries with a side of red potatoes. I wanted to try them and my wife had a chicken Caesar wrap with the truffle fries. Both are very good. I would highly recommend the Tavern burger, if you're not in the mood for a burger, then definitely the chicken wrap. It was delicious.

Back a little over two weeks later for a second visit, and it didn't disappoint! We had the excellent brussels sprouts again and also tried the taphouse steak bites ($17). I had the Primetime Burger ($16.), which is a smashburger topped with shaved prime rib, caramelized onions, provolone cheese, and roasted onion aïoli, served au jus. My table mate had the three prime rib sliders ($17.), which are served with mozzarella cheese and the roasted onion aïoli, also served au jus. Both of us had the sweet potato tots. My hamburger was excellent, with tender prime rib shavings, and a soft, fluffy bun. My table mate enjoyed her sliders as well. The service was excellent.

Great new addition to the Shores. Great service and huge interior with an abundance of TVs for watching sports made this a comfortable atmosphere. Had the Brussel sprouts as an appetizer which I highly recommend. Crispy Brussels, Honey Sriracha Sauce, Crushed Walnuts, Feta make for a great flavor combo. Had the PRIME TIME BURGER for entree. 4oz Smash Patty, Shaved Prime Rib, Caramelized Onion, Provolone Cheese, Roasted Onion Aioli, Au Jus was simply fantastic burger. Def check this restaurant out

I love this restaurant. My favorite menu item is steak and lobster tail. It is really reasonably priced here. Nice big filet and large lobster tail. The booths are big so you have some privacy between the next booth and other tables. The waitresses are always friendly and attentive.

I cannot rave enough about this place! The food is plenty and hot, and there's choices for every kind of eater! There's a great family atmosphere but you can surely bring someone here for a first date or have a group of friends for drinks! The service was great; I just didn't like how closely some of the waitresses were walking to the corners of the tables. I watched a whole crash take place between a customer and another waitress, just because the waitress wasn't paying attention to how close she was to the table.

Good atmosphere with a lot of TV's. We had the burgers and they were outstanding! Looking forward to another visit.

This place has great food but terrible management. The kitchen manager is verbally abusive to his employees, hires anyone in the kitchen, never uses gloves when plating food dishes before it goes to any table, and straight up creates a working environment that's miserable to work in. This review is more focused on if you're ever looking to apply to work here. Or if you wanna eat food that's been contaminated with unwashed hands.

Went there for lunch. Order the bacon and cheese sliders, they were very tasty. My friend ordered the Italian sub. He also said that it was good pleasantly surprised by the cost of the cocktails, which were very reasonable. The service was friendly, fairly quick came back several times to ask for refills. There's all types of seating available booths, high tops and low tops. It's a little open and loud, but I definitely will be returning.

OMG the food was awful. They use the same fake butter that movie theaters have in those big pump canisters. My lake perch was really tough and so were the red skin potatoes! How ???! OMG never again. Stomach was extremely upset afterwards.

My partner and I headed here at 5:30 pm on a Friday this summer and were surprised when we were immediately seated with no reservations. I did not know how large the space was but I am glad for it as it offers multiple seating options for parties. Our waitress was attentive and quickly took our drink order and had some good menu recommendations. The food was bar food, it was good and cooked well but it won't knock your socks off. I thought it was nice they had so many drink options and specials and appreciated their robust seasonal mocktail menu.

This is a great upgrade. I love the new interior. I had the Tavern burger with sweet potato tator tots. The service was great.

So glad we finally have a Johnny Blacks near us in the Shores! Did not disappoint. Had the nachos and the three sliders (not pictured) they were super good and fresh. I know the wait times are insane right now which should tell you a lot but it is worth it. Love the atmosphere here super open and bright. Will be coming back here forsure!

I am so impressed with the quality of the food in relation to the value!!! Amazing food options and not over inflated in price which is almost unheard of anymore. Friendly staff, clean environment, and great place to watch sports on the several large screens surrounding the entire dining area. I give it 5 out of 5 due to the overall value.

Randomly came last week with a bigger party of 8 however came to find the place very spacious and we were able to sit right away! My expectations were low being a newer restaurant however I was pleasantly surprised at the great service and even better food! I personally got the steak frites and it was one of the best I've had! It was honestly hard to decide as there were so many great options. We also brought out 1 year old and there were plenty of low tops to be accommodating:) great place. Can't wait to go back.

Ambiance was great. I haven't had bad service yet. Food was good. Drinks were good and it didn't break the pockets.

Worst service. Went into Lake house on 5/31 for some good cocktails around midnight received the worst and slowest service. Bartenders were inattentive. Drinks took more than 15-20 minutes to come out for 2 beers and 2 cocktails. Bartenders were actively drinking behind the bar and slurring their words while being disrespectful to customers. It would be understandable if the place was packed or busy but there was absolutely no one in establishment. Telling customers "this is your time to leave" as tables were responsibly waiting for ubers to arrive. The service by the bartenders was inexcusable and rude for a new restaurant in the area that is attempting to establish them selves. Our server was very apologetic about the situation and made our tables drinks herself behind the bar due the bartenders. This was worst experience attempting to get a couple cocktails. Poor imagine seeing bartenders drinking behind the bar. Update (6/1): The following morning, the manager, Miranda, personally reached out to apologize and discuss the events that took place the night before. She was extremely polite, understanding, and professional throughout our conversation. Miranda acknowledged that the behavior we witnessed was not acceptable and assured us that it would be appropriately addressed with the staff. She took the initiative to review security footage and our receipts to fully understand the situation. As a result, Miranda refunded our bill and offered a gift card, inviting us back to give the restaurant another try. We truly appreciate Miranda's prompt response, accountability, and professionalism. Based on how she handled the situation, we're willing to return and give the restaurant another chance.

Our first time here. Need the owner Matt Moore to contact us about the experience we had tonight with drunk patrons. It was an embarrassment with what they did infront of a young family eating dinner as well as the rest of us who had to see it. The police should have been contacted before these clowns left because they were so in capable of driving. They could barely walk. Our daughter was killed by a drunk driver and these guys needed to be arrested. Contact your hostess for my cell number under our reservation Judy and Rick. Arrived about 6pm 5/31.

Came in for Tuesday night early dinner, place wasn't packed yet, but boy did it fill up! Our waitress, a lovely tattooed gal, was very informative and helpful. Lakehouse Salmon was divine! My girlfriend got the blackened Caesar wrap, she said she enjoyed it. Neither of us drink, but bar area looked fully stocked. All in all a nice time was had by everyone. We will be back!

I'll echo some of the other reviews. It's only a matter of time before someone slips and falls on that floor. It's not safe especially if there is liquid on it. It's also so loud. They should put some sound dampening panels on the ceiling. I get it's a bar, but you cannot hear the person sitting next to you if they're talking. Really wanted to try the brussel sprouts, but they were out at dinner service time on Sunday. The Nauti Mile was good. Cosmo was mix. The food tasted good. I'll try it again at time that my not be so busy. One more thing- so many high top tables. Women have no place safe to store purses. Add hooks under the tables. Had to keep my purse on me while I ate. Annoying!

The food, service and vibe were fun. I had a grilled Chicken Wrap with cranberries, Feta and other yummy things in it along with Fries. It was enough to eat for lunch the next day. Definitely going back.

Flys all over our food close the windows. Food sucks chicken is filled with tendons. Fry the fish for the tacos like the other Johnny blacks wet fish tacos not nearly as good.

Lunch this day after the normal rush. First timers. Nice wide booth; Our server Kayla, was well mannered and kind. We put in the Calamari immediately. It was hot and tasty. I ordered a wine in between the calamari and our lunch order - it never arrived . My son ordered the tavern burger with fries. Burger was great he says; the fries were under the lights too long, not warm, qualified dead plate. His wife ordered the mussels Diablo, which came with 4 pieces of stale toasted bread. She ate one mussel; her husband ate one to confirm what we concluded. The Tapas mussels Diablo were not diablo. they were boiled and put on the plate, so no taste of garlic, white wine, or even perhaps a garnish of parsley; as a result the mussels plate was dark, fishy and otherwise tasteless. We decided the menu was too extensive for a burger bar, which they should stick to. The waitress asked if everything was all right, nobody answered, we just looked at her, and she said, great and walked off, so hence the criticisms come to the internet. As a further annoyance which we had a sense of humor about in the beginning was the non copyrighted music-- probably some YouTube channel of an unknown singer, we heard a cover of Shakira's Wherever twice on rotation in the time we were there. So, now it's just another criticism; pony up the cost for the Public Performance license.

Food was absolutely terrible place was empty. I wish them the best of luck, but the food was atrocious. Never go back.

We liked the food and service but it was too loud for us old goats. They have done a VERY nice job with the decor.

Got seated. Then Waited forever for someone to serve us. No one did. Place wasn't busy at all either.

Food was just okay. I got the lake perch, which was lightly fried. It came with new potatoes and asparagus. Potatoes and asparagus were cooked correctly. And the perch was meh. I did not like the breading. And the fish was super dry. I had to ask for lemon and tartar sauce as none was brought with the meal. I also thought the place was really loud. All the surfaces are pretty much solid, so the sound just bounces everywhere. I'd still recommend giving the place a go, it's new and maybe has a few kinks. Keep in mind that it seems servers are pretty new too. Our server, with her trainee, was not as attentive as she/they could have been. Like when our menus are off to the side, it means we are ready to order. Not for you to look at us from across the room and wait for our signal. Thankfully we were able to get a booth. Most of the seating is high top, which I really dislike. 3 1/2 stars would be appropriate.

Typical St. Clair Shores / Nautical Mile business -- subpar food and service, just so so. It's a place where you want to go if you want your server to be inconvenienced to deal with you. They will be out of business within five years - mark my word. Oh, well. No loss.

Love this new location....food is amazing. Been there 5 times and each different dish I have tried (Lakehouse Tenders, BBQ chicken pizza, Bourbon Chicken Stirfry, Blackened Chicken Caesar Wrap and Tavern Burger) were all excellent. Big fan of the Prickly Pear Margaritas....

We went there for dinner and everything was fantastic. Great food, drinks, staff, and ambiance. 20/10!

The pecan encrusted chicken c salad was very good with a generous amount of blueberries and almonds plus other items. The hamburgers were good that my husband ordered. The side salad that came with the hamburgers were a very nice size. The restaurant is very, very noisy it was very difficult to even hear the people sitting at your table. The wait staff was marginal. Our server came in filled my glass with water and didn't even ask the other people the table if they needed it. My dinner didn't come with the others and and I sat there for 5 to 7 minutes before the manager came by and found my salad in the back. The hostess at the front never smiled once and never greeted us. Just walked us over to our table and dropped the silverware and menus and walked away. She was like that with every customer. I would've fired her if I was the manager. All in all just an ok experience and not sure I would return.

When asked if they have a gluten free menu I was rudely told no. It is also far too loud with way too many televisions. The drinks are good but the turn over is too high. Employees know nothing about the menu.
