Oh my god, where do we even begin?
I booked this dinner reservation for my anniversary. My partner and I were super excited to go here on a Saturday night.
Not very luxurious lobby but once inside, it warmed up a bit. There was a live pianist, it definitely gave mid-grade hotel lounge vibes. It wasn't as high end as I was expecting,
Our server for the evening was very friendly, she was attentive and prompt.
But let's get into it...
Appetizers: fresh oysters & calamari
Had I known, that the appetizers were going to be the best part of this dining experience we would have literally just stopped here. Unfortunately, you will have to read on because the entrees were nothing short of awful.
Appetizers: a half dozen oysters were listed at $47! but we said why not? we love oysters! And ordered a dozen. When they arrived some were in broken shells with bits that got into our mouth. the " mignonette" (if you'd even call it that) was just red wine vinegar with an obscene amount of SUGAR! I've been to MANY seafood restaurants, and fresh Oyster Bars and I can safely say I've never had a mignonette that disgusting.
Suggestion: If you are a lover of oysters in Seattle, do yourself a favor, go to Taylor Shellfish! Fresh, delicious, a proper oyster experience with no shells in your mouth.
the calamari were delicious, had I known this was going to be the most enjoyable item from our entire meal, I would've ordered more. :(
Crab Mac and cheese : GROSS! Undercooked noodles, watery flavorless sauce , with a sprinkling of rubbery overcooked crab shreds sprinkled on top. It was disgusting. There's just not other explanation for this. DO NOT order!
Caesar Salad : The Caesar salad was their featured tables side "experience". our very sweet server brought over a large side cart and made the salad. It was fun and entertaining to watch her make the dressing , but again it's nothing spectacular just a big salad that can easily be shared for 2-3 people..
Entrees:this is where the review goes down hill...
I ordered the $67 scallops and risotto this is one of their featured items, and being a seafood restaurant I was very happy to give it a try.
My partner being curious decided to take a chance on their fried chicken (interesting option at a seafood restaurant) but we were very intrigued to see if they had some spectacular recipe that was worthy of being on the menu.
The scallops and risotto were AWFUL!
When I say awful, I mean BAD. I've honestly had better risotto on the airplane and this is not an exaggeration. The risotto on my plate had the consistency of SLOP on a plate! As many reviewers have stated, the presentation was not so good. There were Burnt sage leaves, and the worst item was the scallops! They were rubbery and overcooked but also doused in salt! I mean, take one bite and you instantly knew that if you ate anymore you'd probably get sick. I was very disappointed, but instead of making a stink I decided "ok, I can just share the chicken"....
It gets worse
The fried chicken LOOKED like it was going to taste great but also with one bite in, the chicken tasted like it had been cooked in old oil with hints of lingering seafood flavors.
The texture was DRY so dry! The vegetables were over cooked, soggy, lifeless, and had the stench of chlorine!!!!!! There were bits of overcooked pork belly? But the smell was completely rancid. We honestly couldn't even eat it.
Our server came to check on us to see that I hadn't touched the scallops to which I expressed to her my concerns and she politely offered me an alternative, at this point I politely declined and we asked for a desert menu.
The astronomical prices for these dishes is beyond me, especially living in such an amazing food centered city like Seattle where we do not have a shortage on phenomenal restaurants with chefs that KNOW how to cook.
Our server ended up bringing us a free crème
Brûlée which was also very bad, but smiled and endured it. The chocolate martinis were ok but overall this places food quality was not good, and the only reason it's just a step above Red Lobster in any suburban strip mall is because of ambience and ocean views during the day.
$400 later.... We were offered to sign up for their "dining rewards points" I would never expect this from what is supposed to be a "luxury" seafood experience. Just seemed very tacky and off brand for the experience and image they're trying to present.
I gave a generous 2 star instead of 1 because our server honestly deserved a 5 star review, we tipped her well because she made the night so special but I can safely say, WE WILL NEVER COME BACK, and definitely do not recommend.
