Open late and accommodated us right before the kitchen closed, which was nice because it was one of the few places still open after getting out late from a music festival. They even gave us a small discount upon showing our wristbands. The decor was neat and was filled with album covers from classic musicians. Our server seemed disinterested and like she didn't wanna be there. I get that it was near close, but you can at least throw a smile or two in. The old hostess was really sweet, though. On the plus side, the food was good. The ribs were caramelized on the outside from the burnt sugar; it and the chicken were cooked well. The hush puppies and the sweet potato fries were great and the mac was solid. Everything was hot and seemed fresh, but the nachos severely lacked in cheese. Prices were surprisingly good for BBQ and you get a lot of food. Place is extremely loud, so don't go if you want a quiet meal.

We just happened to be walking by when the aroma from the pub was so profound. We decided to look at the menu they had in the front of the building. My husband ordered the brisket with mac and cheese and cornbread. I ordered the meatloaf dinner with mashed potatoes, ceaser salad, and cornbread . Both meals were half off due to a special they were having .my husband enjoyed his brisket. I was not a fan of the meatloaf. Tasted like half beef half turkey. My overall impression was very good, but I believe I just ordered the wrong meal . The corn bread is more of a sugar bread, which is a major turn-off for a BBQ restaurant .

Went last night to this place and it was so delicious! Also has the BEST booth seats I've ever sat in. They were wood but they were spacious and comfortable. For an appetizer me and my family got the crab dip and soft pretzels. The pretzels were so so delicious, they were seasoned and crispy but also soft. The crab dip wasn't anything special but with the pretzels it's a 100! The waiter was such a nice lady and we even had a few laughs I definitely recommend this place! You also get to pick where you want to sit, and the waiter will follow behind with the menus.

It was great food and came quickly. Great kids pizza and crab cakes. There was no filler and they were delicious.

Google
I love the Pit and Pub in Salisbury. So when we were looking for a place in OC we decided to give it a try. I was totally disappointed in the food. The crab dip had more cheese than crab and no flavor the pretzel pieces that came with it were greasy. I had the meatloaf and it was just bad. Very thin piece luke warm and no flavor. The baked beans uneatable and Caesar side salad was a handful of romaine lettuce, a few croutons a pinch of cheese and sub par dressing. I did not finish any of it. My companions meal was the brisket but no slices just a lump of meat. The service was good.

Wife was in the mood for barbecue the other night after a long drive and this place hit the spot! Drinks were good but the food was amazing! The staff was very welcoming from the moment we walked in and our waitress was very friendly and fast, especially with our fussy kids! She took the time to converse with them and get them whatever they needed. Can’t remember her name but she had tattoos. The other staff were also very attentive and very helpful and all deserve a round of applause. This place is amazing! Can’t wait to come back soon!

Went to ocean city for the day, and stopped here before getting back on the road to go home. The atmosphere was happy, the music was vibrant, and the food was amazing. Me and my friend got to try the brisket tacos and they were finger licking good. Aside from that the staff has been nothing but helpful as I forgot my bag and did not realize until I was 2.5 hours away. I have never met a team so willing to help and ship it out to me as I was unable to return due to work. I will never forget this and I will definitely be back for more! Thank you to you all!

Hello. My family and I have been going to this restaurant for the past couple of years. We ordered the buffalo chicken wings and I personally tasted very little seasoning. However my family did enjoy the wings. The main issue my daughter and I had involved our main course. I ordered the wedge salad with grilled chicken while she opted for no chicken. When we started eating the salad it tasted odd, almost bitter like. Upon further investigation we found the salad to be made of cabbage instead of lettuce!? Absolutely unacceptable they should have told us they were out of lettuce! I will say the chicken was tasty and my husband and son enjoyed their turkey platter and burger. Thank you.

Yelp
I just read review from Beth E. from tonight. If it is the lady I am thinking of she went from table to table asking people to give up their table for her friends. We had a large group of us from out of town that come to OC every year at the same time and we were there for dinner and the Elvis show. Place was very busy and the waiter staff did an awesome job. Beth E said tables were held for friends of waitress- we didn't know the waitress but we sat at open tables. This lady even came to my sister, asked for her table and later called her a hussy. I think her comments are about the staff are uncalled for, they did a great job, the food was wonderful and we had a great time. This lady was rude to the other customers in the restaurant and she should apologize to the staff she insulted. Sincerely- Customer from Emmitsburg,MD.

Yelp
The service was mediocre. It took upwards of 30 minutes to get our food and it was not. Also, considering the food we ordered was mostly pre-made. The main courses were awful. We ordered the brisket tacos, pulled pork and ribs. This place should not be allowed to market themselves as a bbq restaurant because none of the above were smoked. Slow cooked? Maybe. But there was no smoke on any of it. We also had hush puppies, collard greens and coleslaw. The slaw was inedible. The worst I've had. The hush puppies and collard greens were surprisingly very good. Your money would be better spent literally anywhere else.

Yelp
The food was really good. We had 1/2 chicken, pulled pork sandwich, and quesadilla. Everything was really good. The best food we have had in OC so far. The service was so so. The waitress seamed not so excited to be waiting on us, but reasonably attentive.

Yelp
Pit & Pub might seemed to the uninspired to be a bit unrefined, or to turn a phrase a bit rough around the edges. True, true, true. That is what makes this place one of a kind. From the moment you enter you are greeted by a lovely sole who asks if you want to sit at the bar, a booth or a table top. The table top seems to always suit us best. A friend saw us enter and briefly joined us for a bit of chit chat but left us with some important entree guidance; "the Brisket--normally outstanding--is tougher today and hard to get handle." Sound advice, instead one of our entrees' was the hot roast beef with gravy. Absolutely incredible with a best tasting gravy ever! I revisited my favorite, homemade meatloaf also with the incomparable gravy.

Yelp
Let me open with this fundamental truth. I have never owned/managed a for profit business. That being said I am a fan of capitalism, and tourism, and I understand the rational desire to earn a profit. I was in town for business (on perdiem), my hotel was across the street, I was tired and refused to drive. That is the parameters under which I imagine a place like this stays in business. I suspect (and did quick research) that the 5 star reviews are "locals" [if real] and maybe fellow business strip owners. I don't believe that anything else explains the range fo reviews that this place gets. I want to be fair, the food tasted fine, not the best, but I have had worse. My primary concern is the quality for price value proposition, and the abysmal service I experienced. The service, on this occasion, for me (maybe all the 5 reviews had a different reality) is absolutely terrible. The young lady taking the order said it would be 35 minutes for smoked wings (7 pc) and a salad (mixed greens, cherry tomato, cucumber). Her thought process relayed to me is that each order is made as it is given (makes sense) but think about it for a moment smoked wings cannot be made to order, so I shrugged, walked back to my hotel (3 min.) waited about 10 minutes and then walked back over (20 min? total) and there the food sat. Additonal irksome point... in all of my 60 years I've only had a few people ever spell my name B- e -r -r -y, they were non english speakers. What english as a native language speaker thinks that a grown man's name is a fruit? I don't begrudge a little price hike for summer tourists/conventioners. I do however expect a bit of effort, a bit of quality put into the product and customer service.

Yelp
We tried this place foe take out. We ordered NC pulled pork bbq and it just meh. Hubby got the ribs and they were meh. The mac n cheese was garbage. The coleslaw just tasted like chopped cabbage no flavor at all not even salt. The hushpupuppies were ok. We will never return. Absolutely no flavor at all.

Yelp
Stopped by on a night after the bar for food. I got a burger and a cocktail. We were tired so we had everything basically boxed up to go Plenty of bar space, tvs and dining booths.

Yelp
We came here on Saturday right after we left the parade. We found this placer on Yelp and thought it looked very promising. I was with family and there was 8 of us total. We park and walk up to the entrance and as soon as we step in the place the lady at the door rudely says "We ain't got no tables for yall". Not hello, welcome to Pit & Pub. Just rudely brushes us aside. The security reads the room, and was like "well you can wait for a table if you'd like". Then the rude lady chimes back in "But it'll be 35 to 45 minutes", but with a real attitude, as if she was offended that we were there. The wait actually wouldn't have been a problem for us, had she had an ounce of professionalism. We knew most places were going to be jumping this weekend, and we found something that looked good. This lady killed it for us, and we just turned around and left.

Yelp
The food is great! We got the chili Mac gator tots! Get these. Omg. So good. A hot pile of Mac n cheese, chili, topped with tater tots. Chicken and dumplings on special were delicious Wings and ribs were meaty and cooked well Our server, Walker was attentive and polite The restaurant and bar layout is nice. You can see TVs from booths or the bar. Nicely decorated too- clean and bright

Yelp
We just came down OC for the Festival of Lights. Tried Pit & Pub and was very happy. Honey old bay wings were on point with a smoky flavor that was so good. Chicken pot pie was out of this world with a soft flaky crust on top of a bowl of chicken & veggies. My mom had the smoked meatloaf and boyfriend got the open faced beef served over mashed potatoes and bread. Definitely will return on future visits to OC.

OC Local G.

Yelp
My wife and I dine here every so often but the last two times we've been here had been hugely disappointing. French dip meat has been like shoe leather and whoever runs the kitchen of late is not dialed in. Service was mediocre as she would wander off and not check back a little more frequently. We will give it one more go down the road, but if it's a third strike then we are done.

Yelp
Terrible. Will never eat here again n first time customer at this establishment!! Got my refund and don't order carry out cause you will get burnt food

Yelp
We've passed by this place so many times but had never been inside until today. Such a pleasant surprise! Our food was delicious! The honey old bay wings were hot, crispy and very flavorful. The nachos were absolutely LOADED with tender brisket. The smoked ham and cheese was simple and perfect! Our server was very attentive and very friendly. We will definitely be back on future visits!

Yelp
Food sucked!!! Son sent his food back. My friend my the smart one and didn't order any food.

Yelp
Love this place!!! Read the review from Beth E., and like others have said this is not the case. Erin is AMAZING! The service is phenomenal and food is great! The Elvis impersonator tonight was awesome. 10/10 recommend Pit & Pub to all my friends and family that visit Ocean City
google avatar

Beth E.

Yelp
I was there tonight and the service with waitress Erin was terrible! We were waiting for a table and she kept a table for her personal friends who only used 4 of the 8 seats. Her friends kept a table saying they were waiting for other to join them, which never happened. Mind you this establishment was very busy for a Friday night. We had friends with us who left because of the wait. This waitress set her friends needs before the restaurant's business. I find it disgusting that four seats were available and business was lost on a Friday night because of this waitress's personal friends. Other establishments would not have wasted four seats on a busy Friday night. I feel this place was very disappointing.

My go-to place for quick fast food variety from wings to ribs Lots of TVs Great Sports Bar Service was good

Yelp
I tell people all the time, do not sleep on Ocean city! Although you think of the in and out/mom and pop restaurants on the boardwalk, this city still has some amazing restaurants and pubs! This was one of them. We were supposed to go to a seafood restaurant, but they chose to close early. We came here, and were definitely surprised! The barbecue was amazing to be an actual pub! And for the price, you definitely got your moneys worth. We ended up having leftovers to take back home with us. I would definitely recommend this place if you want good food, good libations, and it overall Ocean City vibe

Marie L.

Yelp
I usually go to Northside and I've loved it and everything's been fantastic. I go every time I come to Ocean City. I went to this location because it was closer to where I was staying! Service was mediocre. My food was terrible and I was shocked. I had a burger I would not recommend. Worse than fast food, burger. So sad because I don't get to eat out much I would just be careful what you ordered and ask questions about the menu
google avatar

Yelp
Pit & Pub hosted a reunion of former Phillips employees and they were fantastic! The atmosphere was welcoming and the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating to all our needs. Everyone who ordered food really enjoyed their meals I especially loved the Turkey club. I can't wait to return the next time I'm in OC.

Yelp
Thanks Yelpers for the find. This Smokehouse delivers in both service and the menu. After a day of water fun and running around, the big meal hit the spot. My family and I were starving but finding a restaurant with a good children's menus is a little difficult for my picky one. This place had a great variety of items on the children's menu and it's two blocks from the hotel -- win win for me. (Echoing my son's sentiment here). The menu is simple and ticks off the list of good BBQ plates and side dishes, too many to mention but the favorites of the night: hush puppies, collard greens (so flavorful, cooked well and smokey) and the Mac and Cheese. Can't speak for the rest but I'm sure it's good. No appetizers to start, we just wanted dinner and quickly. Dinner: boneless pork chops served over mashed potatoes and gravy (so good), great color on the chops and that gravy was delicious. Made the mashed quite creamy. Very rich. My son loves mashed potatoes any day so the fact that he couldn't finish it was killing him. He was stuffed!! Hubby had the beef brisket entree served with a slice of white bread, sauce on the brisket and two sides. Hush puppies for the win!! Brisket was good, especially the smaller cuts. The large pieces were a little more dry. I ordered the pound of pork ribs (waitress selected that over the Carolina pulled pork so I trusted her). It was very, very tender. Fell right off the bone. The meat was really juicy on the bone side. Top side had a little too much char for my liking but the flavors were on point. Collard greens and mac and cheese as my sides. Kids stole the Mac and boy was it good. Glad my hubby ordered that too so we had a fighting chance to try it. Dessert was only one option that night: funnel cake fries. They were awesome. We all love funnel cake so this was a great sharing portion. We were just a lot full but the kids really wanted to try it. Why have I not had them before? Sure, classic funnel cake at the fairs are huge and served as a pull apart dessert. Here, everyone gets their own fry. Drizzle of powdered sugar. Simply delicious. Great local find. Not to mention the awesome decor. Looked like record covers or vinyl album covers that lined the ceiling. Lots of TV's at the bar and plenty of high top seating for the drinking crowd. We opted to dine in the booths as it was quieter. Great energy in this place.

Yelp
28th St Pit and Pub is good local bbq spot. We were staying nearby and decided to give it a try for lunch. Our server was very friendly and attentive. We tried their orange crushes which were very good and decided to share a few appetizers. We ordered the chili Mac, smoked Buffalo wings and pork ribs. The chili Mac and pork ribs were a hit and I highly recommend both! The smoked wings good but not a standout like other appetizers. Next time I visit OC I'll definitely be back!
google avatar

Yelp
FIVE stars.. ALLLL the way!!! I had been wanting to try the Pit and Pub for a long time and finally did, last weekend! SO.. OHHH my goodness. I have to say - BEST fish tacos in OC. My bff and I both ordered this. They were prepared PERFECTLY and they offer grilled mahi (which many places do not) for their tacos. My husband had the Beef platter with gravy fries and LOVED it.. so fresh and delicious. The prices were reasonable and the portions were very generous! The atmosphere is very nostalgic/old-town OC. It's not fancy or anything - but, honestly.. sometimes you just want a down home vibe. THIS is the place. I highly recommend a visit to them next time you're in OC!!!

Yelp
I wouldn't recommend going to Ocean City, MD in January because almost everything is closed for the season. This place was one of very few that was open for business and we expressed our gratitude for that. There was a significant wait for a table due to this, and the fact that a playoff football game was going on also. When we finally got a table, our server was great. She was super busy, yet took the time to answer our questions and be sure everything was to our liking. We got a few items to share. Starting with an order of smoky buffalo wings, which were half price all day. They weren't overly spicy and had a definite smoky flavor to them. Delicious! Then we got the seafood quesadilla, full of shrimp, bay scallops, and cheese. It came to the table with eight quarters. For the entree we got the meatloaf with two salads as sides. The meatloaf looked kind of funny coming out alone on the plate, but we'd gotten the fresh, crisp salads a bit earlier. The meatloaf was a huge slice, very dense, with a definite smoky flavor, covered with brown gravy. The food came to us in a timely manner and was hot when it arrived. Our only complaint would be that it was very loud and hard to carry on a conversation without yelling. That's probably to be expected in a bar on a game day. When we left, I told the hostess what a good job she and the others did in such a busy environment. They could've been harried and short with the customers, but I didn't see any of that.... Only good attitudes everywhere! We would definitely come back if we're ever in the area again.

Yelp
Lots of menu items to choose from. Food was a little overcooked but waitress was attentive and atmosphere was nice.
google avatar

Eric J.

Yelp
I got the hot beef with brown gravy over French fries, Aah it was just ok!! My wife got a burger she said it was hot but we both said we wouldn't go back! 50$ wasn't worth it.. Waitresses were not very inviting at all.

Allen D.

Yelp
Great food and plenty of it. Service was outstanding and was even treated to live entertainment. Great drink selection. Seems to be a locals favorite which is always a good sign. Highly recommended.

Mary E.

Yelp
Service was great. We walked in on Monday around 4:30 and was able to be seated right away. Our server was Sean. He was very pleasant and very attentive. Our drinks came out quickly. Appetizers were very tasty. We ordered the seafood skins. There were six in our group and everyone ordered something different. No complaints at our table! We were all very satisfied with taste and portions. I loved the atmosphere, very comfortable. There were TV's placed around for some of us to watch sports. I would highly recommend the 28th St. Pit & Pub. I will be back for some more great tasting food.
google avatar

Janki P.

Yelp
Hole-in-the-wall joint with live music bands, fun bar tenders & great food! Stopped here for nightcap & midnight munchies for some bbq & salad.
google avatar

Samantha M.

Yelp
Went here for lunch and we were excited to try some BBQ. It was self-seating so honestly kind of our fault, but we sat in a booth next to a super loud family and the back pipes on the wall sounded like it was cranking some heavy machinery. The pulled pork sandwich was also just okay. It was moist but it lacked some punching flavor. But the pickle was ginormous and I appreciated that haha. But anyway, this place was pretty good and standard.
google avatar

Lou G.

Yelp
Rustic type place with dark wood booths and bar. Our party of 7 including 2 kids were accommodated on a comfortable high top. Our server was top notch. Took care of every request with a smile. We had nachos which were ok and onion rings which were fabulous for the table. Everyone had assorted meats including brisket which were all cooked to perfection with their tasty bbq sauce. Sides were good as well. I would return when in OC again
google avatar

Stanton S.

Yelp
If you like beef barbecue, this is your place! Great variety of meats classically prepared.

Cindy A.

Yelp
There was a comment left by Beth about 40 minutes ago about the waitress (Erin) who seated her friends at a table which only used 4 out of 8 seats during a time which was very busy at the restaurant. She accused Erin of seating her friends while others were waiting for a table. This is not true. We were sitting beside the group of 6 which were already seated at the table. They were there before we were seated and this lady came over to them and asked if they were staying for the Elvis show. They told her "no" they weren't staying. So she asked if she could have their table. They decided to stay and she went over 3 times and asked them when they were leaving, which was rude. The waitress did not give her friends special treatment because they were already seated. The problem was that they did not leave and give their seats to this lady. They stayed and watched part of the show. This waitress was an excellent server and did not give preferential treatment to her friends. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
$15 for a pound of wings. In this case it equaled 6 wings per pound. And they were not big wings at all. $60 for 2 dozen wings. Flavor and taste were awesome.... Just very expensive !!!!

Mary Lou G.

Yelp
Loved the shrimp special . Mac and cheese and sweet potatoes fries. Pork sandwich was good also

Mikey G.

Yelp
Food was amazing. First night server was exceptional. Memorized our order. A couple nights later had a younger server who just sat on the stairs on her phone. Roll of the dice on server I guess

Cherie H.

Yelp
Since 2011 this was our place. I raved and raved about it. We even had our wedding luncheon there in 2019. The past two years we have been so unhappy. Burnt items, unfriendly staff and etc. I am going to try one more time but if it remains as it has for the past two years we will have to stop going. And we love their food!!!
google avatar

Jonalee N.

Yelp
there was a hair inside my mac n cheese and my ribs had absolutely no flavor. wouldn't eat here again but my waitress was sweet
google avatar

Lorin S.

Yelp
Didn't seem like a very well know place on coastal highway, but should be. The bbq and sides here are amazing. Came here twice in a weekend. First night, went here for dinner with a large group of guys. The service was superb. The food obviously with this group took longer than usual, so our waitress was apologetically, friendly, and kept our thirst quenched. Once the food came, it was silent. I knew I couldn't finish the large entree portions I saw coming out, so I ordered two entrees- side of ribs and the chili Mac and cheese. The ribs might be the best thing on the menu, with the cornbread. The chili Mac and cheese needed some salt and pepper, but overall good and had some kick! We then came back with a smaller group on Sunday to watch the Ravens game. Atmosphere was electric and service was again, top notch. I did get an entree this time- ribs and crab cake platter. Ribs again, great; sweet and tangy fall off the bone and meaty. Crab cake had chunks of meat. Had coleslaw and cornbread. Coleslaw was good, a smoky flavor to it which was different. Ribs and cornbread I'll be back for.

Elizabeth L.

Yelp
Admittedly, who goes to ocean city for BBQ? Someone who is looking for food late at night after just getting in! The brisket was great, the chicken was great, even the shrimp were great. (No meatloaf or crab that night, so we can't comment.) most of all -- the hush puppies and the cornbread were amongst the best we have ever had, and worth going back for alone!!

Stacy H.

Yelp
I've been to the 28th St location a few times, and the experience has always been 5 stars. My first time was on a busy night and I was with a large party. We were seated pretty quickly, considering the size of our party, and the experience was very pleasant! Our server was spot-on with drinks and meals. One of my pet peeves is what I call "auctioning food", which is when the food runner doesn't know who got what, and will just hold a plate and say "pulled pork sandwich?? Beef brisket???", and the customer has to claim their food... annoys me to no end... anyway, this did NOT happen and it was all a very fun evening. My most recent experiences were carry out - the person who answered the phone and took my order was super pleasant and informative each time, and my food was waiting for me upon my arrival. Also - the food is always hot and delicious!

J L.

Yelp
I had a takeout order of ribs, baked beans and cornbread. All were tasty. Ask for more sauce though. It seemed to be a light glaze on it. Service was friendly enough.

Israel I.

Yelp
Great atmosphere on the upper deck outside with my family and I on a weekday evening. Our watress was also great. I expected more flavor from pit brisket. Food wasn't bad but it wasn't something to come back for.

David M.

Yelp
They are terrible, and they are also rude. I don't care how good the food is, they need to learn how to treat people. Then again that's what happens when you enter a privately own restaurant, they make there own rules and who cares who they offend. Never going to Pit again!!! Now it's forever PICKLE PUB!!!!! I LOVE THIS PLACE, and the food is amazing!!!!!!!! And I mean that to
google avatar

Sas S.

Yelp
Oh dear lord this place was terrific last night!!! Tons of TVs to watch all the games, crowd was super great, waitresses and staff were helpful and super friendly...and the food is freakin killer!!!!! You have go here!

Anne w.

Yelp
2nd time here... and can't brag on the food enough. If bbq is your jam, this is your go to place. But if your looking for upscale ambience take a pass. Menu offers something for everyone (kids menu too) and prices are reasonable (both food and drinks). Off season this looks to be a local hangout for pool, bar goers. Wed night was crowded but the hostess was on point with a smile. We had the pulled chicken wrap (tender, great flavor and big enough for two meals) and the chef salad, which had what looked to be 3/4 lb of the best smoked ham, turkey and RB I've ever tasted! Our Stella on tap was $6 and my Tito's on the rocks (generous pour) was 6.50. With OC liquor store prices this is quite a find! Make it a point to stop in next time your in OC, if your taste experience is close to ours you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
Came here for lunch when we got into town and all were pleasantly surprised with the meal. The smoked wings were delicious. I ordered the pulled pork and was surprised by the flavor it had. Definitely worth ordering.

Yelp
Good barbecue, huge portions and a nice atmosphere. We started with the pork rib appetizer which was exactly as described - slow cooked - meat fell clean off the bone and it tasted very good. For entree we each got the brisket with different sides: salad (no pic, sorry), baked beans, Mac & cheese, hush puppies. The meat was placed on Texas toast and covered in barbecue sauce, with more sauce on the table if needed. We added a side of cornbread which was also yummy! We often will see multiple choices of sauces, but here there is only one. It's a mild sauce, I would say more tangy than sweet. Prices were reasonable and service was good.

Yelp
I happen to check the reviews on this place via Yelp!!! Wow... this place was really good overall. Service was good staff was friendly and food was really good. Let's just say, I didn't even have time to take pictures because I was so hungry and it looked so good. I would recommend this place. My personal recommendations would be the Candy Bacon for starters and the Pesto flatbread. Then try the ribs and the brisket... enjoy
