30 Best Restaurants in Lisbon for Crispy Suckling Pig, Pastel de Natas, and Bifana Sandwiches | Condé Nast Traveler

"Set in the former wine cellar of Torel Palace, this 14-seat, Michelin-starred counter serves ever-changing tasting menus from chefs Vítor Matos and Guilherme Spalk, who plate and chat inches from your seat. Dishes on my visit ranged from juicy Algarve shrimp with buttermilk and dill oil to langoustine with textured carrot in a white wine, Port, and lemongrass sauce, with foie gras on brioche and rhubarb along the way. It’s fine dining without stuffiness—immersive, generous, and deeply satisfying." - Abigail Malbon

"There are some restaurants that exude positive energy – and this is, without a shadow of a doubt, one of them. The two monkeys after which it is named (and which are also depicted on the logo) refer, somewhat surprisingly, to the two chefs at the helm (Vítor Matos and Guilherme Spalk) and their approach to their work – at the same time as offering a high-quality culinary experience, they are also keen to entertain and have fun! This unique space, occupying the former wine cellar at the luxury Torel Palace Lisboa hotel, recreates, in stunning wood, the concept of a theatrical dining experience for just 12 guests built around a central island that provides the setting for the open kitchen. On the single, creatively focused menu, which includes some French-inspired details, guests can explore flavours from around Portugal (we particularly enjoyed the onion chawanmushi and the violet shrimp). The chefs interact constantly with their guests, who are not restricted to a fixed time schedule, enabling them to manage their own experience in more relaxed fashion." - Michelin Inspector

A new Two Star restaurant is highlighted in the selection of the MICHELIN Guide Portugal 2024

"Located inside the Torel Palace Lisbon hotel, chefs Vitor Matos and Francisco Quinta recast Lisbon’s gastronomic scene with a creative, bar-centered experience that narrates the flavours of Portugal; the setting is intentionally more informal, with constant dialogue between the chefs and the diner." - Guía MICHELIN

A truly wonderful dining experience, featuring beautifully interactive presentations by the chefs that make each course unforgettable. Most dishes were excellent, and the wine pairing was exceptional—the sweet wine served with the foie gras was particularly impressive and perfectly matched. Plan for the full tasting menu to take around three hours. There were only two minor drawbacks: I received quite a bit of smoke from the open kitchen, and there’s no restroom inside the restaurant, requiring a short walk to another part of the building. Overall, it’s a highly enjoyable and uniquely memorable culinary experience.

From the very first bite, every dish felt like an explosion of flavour, the kind of experience where each element is so intentionally crafted that it truly stays with you. The tasting menu unfolded like a story, and every course was introduced with care: how it was prepared, where the ingredients came from, and why each flavour was paired together. This made the entire evening deeply interactive, not just a meal, but a connection with the chefs and their creative process. Watching the dishes come to life right in front of you added a layer of intimacy and excitement you don’t find in most fine-dining spots. The balance between technique, presentation, and taste was exceptional. Every plate was expressive, surprising, and beautifully executed. The atmosphere was warm, the team incredibly welcoming, and the whole night felt personal.

This wasn't just a meal, it was an entire experience. We had a fantastic time! The whole experience takes about 3-4 hours. Each course is prepared in front of you, so you feel really immersed. The food was excellent, and each dish told a story. Many of the dishes also had caviar on them, so we felt extra spoiled! So yummy. Also, best banana dessert I've ever had. This is definitely a special occasion restaurant, but worth it.

Our experience here was a good one. The intimate setting made it easy to interact with not only the talented culinary team but other diners as well. If you haven't had an experience like this before, I'd certainly recommend 2Monkeys.

Loved having the dishes plated up in front of me and explained throughly by all the different chefs Every dish was tasty 👌with the menu stating with portuguese/medeteranian food, involving some african flavours and finishing with a Thai influence. Wine pairing was outstanding, we tried 9 different portuguese wines and they were all delicious and complimented all the dishes perfectly. The sommelier is clearly a wizard Fav dishes were the foie gras, the Tuna and the wagyu “pad thai” but all the dishes were great. Lovely attention to detail from all sides and we felt very welcome and looked after

Google
intimate kitchen, where you sit at the balcony and get the best view of the kitchen while also being served by the staff. flavourful and bold, some of the dishes are really a hit on the stomach, while some of them follows the dance. very nice experience. visited on 09/24

Google
Intimate setting in an open kitchen. The team was fabulous and they explain every single ingredient as they prepare the dishes in front of you. The produce is very fresh, seasonal and local which is always great. There was nothing mind-blowing or super innovative as in other Michelin restaurants we've been to, and I usually prefer creativity over fancy ingredients in this kind of restaurant. Yes, caviar is delicious, but a bit overdone now. Sometimes they'd mention an ingredient that I could not really taste in the dish (like coriander or ginger). The pumpkin dessert was creative and delicious! I still give it 5 stars because the experience was great overall, with very attentive service, a spotless kitchen and a high degree of professionalism.

This is by far one of my favorite Michelin restaurants I've ever been too. While it is certainly fine dining, it has a more relaxed feel and gives you the opportunity to interact with many of the chefs themselves since they play each course in front of you. As expected, the service is impeccable as is the flavors of each course. While we enjoyed everything, the desserts particularly stood out. Hard to put the whole experience into this one review but an absolute must try!
