On the Grid : 2% Jazz Coffee Midtown

"2% Jazz ("98% funky stuff" - a Maceo Parker reference) is tough to separate from its owner/founder Sam Jones. He's been a character keepin it real in Victoria's coffee scene since '96. So it's no surprise they roast and brew some of the best coffee in the region. This spot is a bit more utilitarian than many cafés in town, but the quality is everything here and the staff are sure to charm. Also a great spot to grab a donut, breakfast sandwich, or salad if you're rushing through the 'hood." - The Number

I went to this cafe this morning, and I’m so glad I did! As someone who really enjoys a good cup of coffee, this place was absolutely amazing. The staff were incredibly friendly and clearly know what they’re doing. Huge thanks to Leon for making such an incredible mocha, it was so good I had to order another one to go! And thank you to Delilah for helping me choose a snack. She was so sweet and patient, and recommended a lemon blueberry muffin that I absolutely loved!!! I had a fantastic morning. I don’t usually leave reviews, but I’m happy to make an exception for this coffee shop and its wonderful team. I’ll definitely be back!

We dropped in for the first time to grab a coffee and a snack. The staff were very helpful and friendly. A nice spot to sit and relax with a delicious coffee!

Place opened at 8. I'm an early riser requiring a latte at 7. Overall, the gal behind the counter was super nice - smiled and was friendly. The latte I would say was 7.5 and the atmosphere was average. Had a berry loaf which was above average. Would go again if in Victoria. Loved the random horoscopes and had a good laugh. Funky name to say the least.

I had a cappuccino with oat milk, which was pretty tasty. My husband had a cortado. We enjoyed the outdoor seating, which was handy because we were riding our bikes. There is also a nice water feature beside the tables.

Service and shop cleanliness is hit and miss depending who's working (or who's standing around chatting/playing on their phone). It would also be nice if they could add reward points post sale... for the times they get missed at the time of the transaction.

Wonderful place to stop for a coffee! It was the first place I popped into during my trip to Victoria and I’m glad I did! I got the vanilla iced latte and I had to come back for more. There is a nice indoor area with plenty of chairs as well as an outdoor patio area. Really pleasant little spot, I definitely recommend!

This was my last coffee stop on the island but it was the best! The cappuccino was perfectly made and my daughter noted that the hot chocolate was perfectly mixed without any sediment. The owner clearly has a great rapport with customers and staff was friendly. My first choice next time I return to Victoria.

I was excited to check out this 2% Jazz and i left very disappointed. I had an hour to kill while waiting for my car to be serviced. I only lasted 15 minutes here and before i left to go waiting in the car dealer service reception area. It was more comfortable than this 2% Jazz. First, yes, the coffee was good. Quite good. Had a large americano. Also ordered a coffee cake slice which I haven't taken a bite of yet. And the gals making my coffee were friendly. Ok so here's the problem - if you want a comfortable place to work or write or visit or whatever, this is not the place. I wish I'd gone across the road to Tim Hortons. There is very little seating and the seating that is there is terrible. Skinny shaky seats with about 6inches of counter space. It was tough having space to write nevermind if you had a laptop and were hoping to work - forget about it! Second - the bathroom was out of order. C'mon. It's 9 in the morning, I'm having a large coffee. No bathroom is quite an inconvenience. My mood was soured quite quickly here. And so i left and am sitting in a comfy car at the car dealership. To end this, if you want good coffee to go, it's worth the stop. If you want an experience and to chill while enjoying a hot beverage, not the place to be.

Yelp
This place is located inside of the British Columbia Museum in Victoria. I came here for a quick bite. There was a really nice girl who works here. I came here June 27 around 2pm. I got a blueberry lemon poppy muffin. Yes I said that. It was a crazy good fusion. Where has this muffin been all my life? We had a funny conversation. I told her I was from San Diego and she said she knows a lot about San Diego and I asked if she's been there, but she says she hasn't left this city before. So then we ended up talking about pen pals (it's what I call it) which are friends we make online through social media, but we don't exactly visit them because there's financial strains. I said I have too many friends in each continent, but I'm scared of planes so I'll probably never meet them which is sad because I got invited to a wedding in west Australia and I will probably only be attending through zoom. I guess you just had to be there. I didn't get a chance to stick around much to try anything else because I was in a rush for sightseeing. But I recommend this place because the people are nice.

Yelp
Stopped in on a whim and sure glad I did. Very friendly staff. I ordered a 12oz latte with almond milk. Super good. As well I had a scone which I was skeptical of but pleasantly surprised that it was fantastic. I will definitely be back.

Yelp
Very impressed with this operation and it's staff. We came into hide out from the cold while waiting for a taxi. While waiting, we found out they were closing but were welcomed to stay. A special thanks to the GM and friendly staff who offered us complimentary cups of coffee. We highly recommend this place for its great coffee, ambiance, and staff. They were especially great with our son who was his usual rambunctious self.
