This place gives off the ambience of a good, nice restaurant and while the service was great in the atmosphere was nice, the food didn’t match up. The side salad was wonderful and the street taco was at a perfect price given the quantity but the quality was just missing some flavor. Well I wouldn’t call it bad, It wasn’t great. I had the French dip and tried the burger. Both of which were kind of the same in that they were lacking flavor. Overall, they were tasty but just missing something. Given the fact that it’s pricier than most places in the area and the food quality didn’t add up to what they’re trying to sell. I feel it fell short and I’m giving it a three star review.

Our actual server I loved but support staff and anyone else that helped us didn't help at all. We waited 44 minutes for 1 taco. I brought my mom out to eat. I got my salad entree and she only got a side of rice that was supposed to come with a taco she ordered also. Then waited 20 minutes or more for that 1 taco to come to go with her little side of rice, which is now cold. The taco came out soggy and soaking wet. I believe it was the manager that came out (she didnt say who she was) that said there was confusion in the kitchen so sorry for the wait. My mom said, "it was supposed to be like a meal that went with my rice" the lady said "do you want me to order more rice?" . .... but that didn't make sense because now the taco would be cold also. She said no. It's fine. We just wanna eat. She then took a bite and it was completely dripping wet soggy through 2 soft shells with a vinaigrette type sauce that tasted italian. Told our waitress who was so apologetic and took it away. They comped the $3 taco and rice. But now my mom was sat with no meal. 1 bite of the warm rice waiting in hopes of the tacos arrival. 44 minutes or more waiting for a $3 happy hour taco.... so disappointing. Mind you everyone else around us was being served and some had tacos in the cute little taco holder things. Also I'd give 5 stars for just OUR server, she was so sweet but 0 stars for all the rest and possible manager that talked to us that did nothing. A 2 top table and everything just took forever. I don't understand at all. - added in the pictures is my old review. Apparently it's just getting worse here.

One morning I was with a friend of mine, he wanted to invite me to a restaurant for breakfast and asked me if I had visited this restaurant?! I replied yes, and after several choices of restaurants he asked me if I had been to - 3 Squares Restaurants, and I said no, so he said to me I will invite you to this restaurant this morning and you will tell me your opinion. I was really surprised by the quality of the restaurant and the hospitality, and by the distinctive and unique menu that is not found in other places!!!! I was impressed and liked by this restaurant, and my friend won with his distinguished choice of this restaurant

Google
Our server was very friendly, just not super attentive. Sat many times waiting for a drink refill. That being said, as a Gluten Free gal, they have MANY options. The tacos were amazing. My friend got the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich and wasn’t impressed as it tasted more like curry sauce.

Google
Let me preface this particular review by adding that my previous visits to the 3 Squares Restaurant have been good. I went for lunch on a weekend and there was a wait. No problem, until groups coming in after me, getting on list and being seated before I was seated. It took going up there and addressing the situation before it was rectified. They apologized and while we ordered offered us a free appetizer or certain desserts. My daughter got the cheese curds served with a spicy red sauce and an some sort of apple dipping sauce. I did not eat any but she said they were "okay." I ordered the chicken pesto papperdelle dish. This dish was suppose to have a basil tomato moray, parmesan, sweet bell peppers, and grilled ciabatta (best part of the dish). Some of the pasta was sticking to each other, pieces of chicken breast were cooked okay, but the sauce not so much. It reminded me of the sauce you get when making one of those package chicken noodles. I even had my daughter taste to be sure. Overall, I was not happy and left 98% of my dish untouched. My daughter, on the other hand, had the steak and perogies. She said it was good. On a positive note, our waitress, Kelly, was very personable and on point. Extremely pleased. Service rating is strictly based on our waitress and not the service received upon entering the restaurant. I will go back because previous visits were by far more successful.

I have never been disappointed by 3 Squares. The food is fantastic and the presentation is wonderful. Eric, the bartender is a real good guy and took very good care of us the last two times we were in 3 Squares.

Google
Great food & great service! We went for our wedding anniversary & had the surf & turf & the chocolate cake & butterscotch pudding for dessert. My only suggestion for the atmosphere would be to switch out the bar music for something more instrumental or fine dining in the restaurant area. Highly recommend & would go back!

Matt

Google
One of seven Blue Plate restaurants in the metro area this location has terrible parking and unfortunately focuses on their house brand Freehouse beers. While the service is generally good the food is really hit or miss. Best bet is Lunch or Happy Hour or even better the elusive Maple Grove Brunch - RIP Chicken and Waffles. Worth checking out if you’re in the area.

Yelp
3.5/5 Had brunch here with some family and had a good experience. It was busy! Very family friendly place and bustling but we were never rushed, our waitress new we were catching up. I had the only vegan item on the brunch menu: Quinoa oatmeal. It was great! A decent portion that I could finish and tasty. It came with real cream on the side and I asked for dairy free milk which they quickly subbed. I also added on some beyond sausage which came out a little crispy but good. Our waitress wasn't super confident about dairy free creamer for coffee and if they had Jasmine tea even though it was on the menu so I just asked for tea to not be a bother (and they did have Jasmine, it was fine!) My family got banana waffles, eggs benedict and avo toast and everyone seemed pleased (except for my aunt who didn't like the red peppers sprinkled on the toast, totally agree with that)

Briana F.

Yelp
I really wish I had taken a picture of my food beforehand. I was very satisfied and decided to write a review! Came out for a casual brunch on NYE with no expectations, just looking for something savory and light. It wasn't busy at all, just some families and friends enjoying their time together during happy hour with friendly and fast waitresses that check up on you often! I ordered the Salmon Scramble that was made with salmon, eggs, a shallot cream cheese, and thinly sliced red onions. The dish itself came with raspberry jam, choice of toast, and hash browns or salad. The eggs already had a fluffy texture, so the added cream cheese highlighted that while giving that onion flavor. I also ordered a tomato basil soup, which was okay, to say the least. The crackers were goldfish, and the soup itself had a more sour/acidic taste to it compared to others i've tried in the area.

Yelp
Great range of comfort food and beverage choices on the menu and service with a smile. We were there during a Viking game, so quick and plentiful seating were not a problem. Very comfortable and super clean restaurant and bar. Server was very knowledgeable, attentive and friendly. Parking on the street or in the private lot was plentiful. This is a good-to comfort food spot, I'll go back anytime!!!

Cassie R.

Yelp
I used to give this place 5 stars, but since COVID it's down to 3. The food was and contunies to be very good, but service has really gone down. Staff isn't as friendly as it used to be. Last time I was in they really pushed for us to sit bar side rather than dinning side, but our party was larger than a 4 seat hightop could accommode. Eventually we were sat at a nice large table dinning side, but staff seems rather disgruntled about it.

Stephanie P.

Yelp
I had a lovely breakfast at 3 squares today. This was my first time dining here in quite some time. I had the eggs benedict. It was very good. The english muffin was really nice, maybe homemade? Eggs were nice are runny. Hashbrowns were nice and crispy. Our server was great as well. I'll definitely be back.

Pa V.

Yelp
Good American breakfast options, good location to walk around Maple Grove area and plenty of parking in back free shared parking lot or free street parking (entrance is on side facing street). We like the salmon scramble here and usually just get that. The other breakfast options are ok but limited/not much room for substitute. The tarter sauce for the fish and chips was good and tasted like it was made in house. Service is ok the several times we went.

Tori S.

Yelp
If you like seafood you must get the walleye-shrimp cake Benedict. Unsure how I'll ever eat a normal eggs Benedict again. The american breakfast was a little greasy, but accomplished the job. Overall a good breakfast. We went during a peak time (9 AM on a Sunday) and were able to be sat right away. Our server was very nice and never pressured us to leave. She did disappear at one point and we weren't sure if we paid with her or at the host desk (table), but I'd like to assume she was giving us space to catch up. There is street parking or a lot, so no worries on that front either.

Gita B.

Yelp
Love the blue plate restaurants and 3 squares was no different! Enjoyed brunch on the dog friendly patio. Lots of unique cocktails. Wide variety of menu items for all dietary preferences.

Mara O.

Yelp
We visited Maple Grove to run an errand and decide to have lunch here. They have a lovely patio but since it was 85 degrees, we dined inside. We were seated promptly, though we had to wait a while for our server. We ordered Buffalo Cauliflower, a Grand BLT-A, and Blackened Fish Tacos; the cauliflower was underwhelming, needing more buffalo sauce, and its coating was more floury than tempura. The BLT-A was a highlight with fresh produce and crispy bacon, while the fries were overly coated for our taste. The tacos had a good flavor but lacked balance, with too much slaw and not enough fish, plus the beans were mostly sauce with very few actual pinto beans. Is there a shortage on beans? The server was pleasant, but the long wait and absence of a receipt were slightly disappointing.

Markus G.

Yelp
I won't write a long review but I will say the food was perfect, service was perfect and the ambiance was great as well. I was happy to have great food and service, it shows they care about pleasing their customers. We came there from Woodbury and were glad we didn't waste a ride coming there to eat. Kudos to 3 squares, we will definitely return.

Allie M.

Yelp
Food 5/5 - The food is always on point at 3 Square! I tried the Steak Au Poivre special and it was great, made to order. The breakfast burrito was delicious as always. Service / Ambiance 5/5 - The service was good and we got our food within a timely manner.

Lisa V.

Yelp
Another brunch spot. Nothing significant stood out to me, but I had a good time her for a brunch double-date. Parking Found behind the building. Easy to get to. Must walk to restaurant entrance. Service Good service. We usually ask for hot sauce and it was fun to see the hot sauce in a caddy. Food I prefer a more fluffy French toast. Everyone else enjoyed their meal. Great place if you want decent breakfast and lunch food.

Valerie L.

Yelp
Second visit and it was wonderful. I always have an eggs Benedict. It did not disappoint. My husband had fish and chips and it was also good.

Mia H.

Yelp
me here on a Thursday late morning/early afternoon, after a team volunteer event that was nearby. It wasn't too busy there, I will say parking was a little confusing for some of us, some parked way far away and some of us close by accident. The menu is VERY gluten free friendly, so major points for that. It seemed like everyone enjoyed their food, but the service was slow. The server was very friendly and she didn't mess anything up it just took a good long while between request and actually getting it. I got the Southwest Quinoa Bowl and really enjoyed it a lot. Good flavor with that lime and the textures were great. It was surprisingly filling and I was able to bring about 1/2 home to my spouse! Would definitely come and try more from here again, if I'm in the area.

Christofili C.

Yelp
From the food to the drinks, it's a great steady option on our list of restaurants. The service is fast for how busy 3 Squares is. They are attentive, polite, and are willing to retrieve any extra goods you may need. It is a bar/grill with an outside patio. You can expect it to get very busy for breakfast on the weekend by 9:45 am. It can get pretty loud inside as well. The maple syrup is one of a kind here. I'm not sure what is in it but I taste cinnamon of sorts... I am still deciding if it's a taste I want to acquire. The breakfast burrito can get pretty spicy (ask for regular sour cream on the side). The Bloody Mary's are tasty but spendy for the size you likely get elsewhere. The wings are fantastic!!! Parking is vast and they have a waiting area outside with benches as well - like I said, you can expect a wait time past 9:45 am without a reservation. ** unique quality: coffee cups are very big and come in different shapes/designs- so fun **

Stefano R.

Yelp
Always loved the service and menu. The beer and cocktail selection is awsome. Haven't had a bad meal yet.

Troy P.

Yelp
I like the Blue Plate joints, 3 Squares is no exception. Food is good, if you come during peak times it is busy, but they turn tables over pretty fast so the wait isn't too bad. Seems like there are often spots at the bar too, check there if you're a single or party of two.

Crystal M.

Yelp
Well the experience is one I do not want to relive. Way too many flies on the outside patio! They need to add fans to help with this. I got the salmon - it smelled fishy I ate about 3/4 Dont feel well, and the cauliflower rice was gross. Now don't take my review as to not try it, my experience might be different than others. I am traveling on business and I always like to try local eateries and I am highly disappointed! Service was fast and they were cordial not overly friendly . And I am from California saying this! I dropped to a two star due to my experience. 31.00 after tip, ridiculous!

Jack R.

Yelp
The steak was rushed I asked medium rare it was well done and It took 20 mins for it, the Mac and cheese was a different story it was very good which is saving it from getting a 2 star. The ambiance was fine it would be better if the music was more country.

Connie A.

Yelp
Was very impressed with the size of the portions. Food was very good. Maybe a little spendy.

Kathryn M.

Yelp
Mehhhh.. slow service & underwhelming food. Prices are slightly higher than expected but what is particularly frustrating is they charge a 3% service fee in addition to gratuity for "employee wellness". I do not agree with this practice. It should not be the consumer's responsibility to supplement employee incomes. That's what tips are for. Restaurants like this are one of the reasons my family has significantly decreased the frequency of dining out. Their food & service quality does not justify their prices and definitely does not justify additional fees. I do not recommend & will not return.

Barbara W.

Yelp
Have breakfast here all the time. Generous helpings, and a great place to meet friends. Excellent servers, too.

Chris D.

Yelp
Had the French toast chicken stack. Was awesome. Probably the best French toast I've ever had. The chicken, egg and gravy added a nice savory taste to it. Would highly recommend. The wait staff was nice and friendly. The restaurant vibes are great. Will be coming back.

Loretta W.

Yelp
Walked to this place from our hotel because they serve breakfast all day. Although the breakfast menu is small, they do have a lot of variety in choice, same w the lunch and dinner menus. They do NOT serve omelettes though, so my son was a little bummed out about that. We ended up ordering: * the grilled salmon, which was perfect. Glazed slightly with a balsamic marinade, and served with grilled root veggies. Yum. * the southwest quinoa bowl, which was my favorite. So delicious with heirloom tomatoes, peppers, corn, kale, black quinoa...so GOOD and deliciously fresh! * the cakes, links, and eggs - those panels disappeared fast! Lol So fluffy and delicious. The sausage links were fat and full of flavor! Service was perfect! We sat outside and had the nicest server. They let us take forEVER to order, and then we like to sit around and chat. Some places don't like that, but we were super happy here, and left a great tip. We hope to come back here soon!

Mark M.

Yelp
Very friendly service and great atmosphere. I had the two eggs breakfast with an English muffin. The English muffin was exceptional, the best I have had in VT.

Erin V.

Yelp
Ive been coming here for years! Great place for small groups or large groups! Love the staff and the menu always has something for everyone! Saturday i was in the mood for breakfast for dinner and no joke made for two people! Impossible for me to finish and sadly we were headed out for a flight to MT other this beast would have gone home with me! Nate had pancakes and had no complaints since hes kinda a pancake snob and Layla's was side of fries (which are super good) and chicken tenders.. Normally i get the Parmesan Grilled cheese with the Tomato Chutney on the side... bomb! Favorite too!

Angela L.

Yelp
I went out for ladies night and gave this spot a chance. When I walked in it was pretty busy which I was hoping was a good sign. It looks like a normal bar/restaurant but it was clean and well laid out. The server was quick to offer beverages and was great at explaining the menu and gave honest opinions on the food. We shared some Brussel Sprouts (which I'm still not super excited about) but these were tasty and the goat cheese was mild which I liked. I also ordered the southwest quinoa bowl. It looked small but I could barely get through half of it before I was full. It could have used more corn in my opinion, but it was flavorful and the cilantro dressing was not over powering. A friend also shared some of her cheese curds which came with applesauce and a red pepper sambal. A little sweet and spice to dip in. The breading was so good and light. I also had the ginger snap sour and it was well blended and easy to drink. Overall this was a good experience and I would go back

Jessica N.

Yelp
Holy cow! Or should I say holy salmon. Salmon Eggs Benedict was outstanding! The hash browns and fruit were impeccable as well. Coffee was great;don't know the brand. Our server was amazing and the outdoor ambiance was amazing. Love! Will definitely be back soon!

Heather J.

Yelp
The breakfast gnocchi is delish and something different for breakfast! The French toast is great too Service always seems to be great. The servers are personable and friendly

Courtney M.

Yelp
I had amazing experience the food was so good and I wanna come back soon !! This place has the best eggs ever

Amie D.

Yelp
I have a few tried and true brunch spots and decided to try something new Sunday. Yes you've guessed it, 3 squares lol. For some reason I was looking for something with parsley and was deciding between hot hash or chilaquiles. So I ended up ordering the chila because of its spice level compared to hot hash. First of, the portion size is equi to 2-3 servings tbh lol I was only able to eat half of my plate. I liked how different the meal was but I'll say it was heavy on the tart side imo. I did save some room for their pancake which was the best I've ever had in my life! L.O. ordered the cakes, eggs and links and he barely wanted to share his pancakes lol. I'm going to have to go again just for those pancakes! The setup was lovely there plus they do have outdoor seating too. The servers seemed friendly and ready to assist. Overall a wonderful first visit and hoping to add it to my brunch go-tos!

Steve R.

Yelp
I came back to visit this rehab center to meet with a few colleagues who still work here. I was pleasantly surprised to see how much progress they've made! The setup this time around is themed around a breakfast diner called "3 Squares Restaurant." As usual, they use exposure therapies and build real-world scenarios to treat their patients, but this time it felt different. For example, one patient, (who I was later told was admitted to the center just 7 weeks ago), was tasked to work as a restaurant host, and although she couldn't seat me to my table, she did so without having a breakdown or convulsing or even fleeing! They've really turned things around here and I hope to see many of them take the reins back on their lives and adjust to society. I wish them well. For anyone with even the slightest hint of a tan, please be careful when entering this "restaurant." The aforementioned "staff" are very scared of us seasony types. Take a moment and have some empathy before walking up to them to ask a question. Understand they may be right on the edge of a meltdown or panic attack. Here's a Yelp review tip you can have for free! It's best to avoid eye contact with them, but if you do, then do NOT forget to smile. These particular patients at the Maple Grove location suffer from various degrees of melanophobia and so they are a very precious people and need all the reassurance they can get. Pay a visit, and don't judge. Who knows? You might even make a new friend. :)

Yelp
Was so looking forward to visiting this restaurant visited by acquaintances. It was fine to start. We had our waitress come up and start to take our order and my friend asked for a walleye and asked if she could get hashbrowns instead of mashed potatoes. The waitress says we don't make substitutions to meals. Maybe not that term exactly, but something similar. She says I will talk to the cook, after taking just one persons order, proceeds to walk away, not even asking the other three of us what we would like to eat. She never returns. Just keeps visiting other tables. Minutes go by and another waitress takes over and says the other waitress will be going home for the night. Funny thing... she didn't go home, she worked right around us the entire evening. It was so weird. The order was taken and both my friend and her husband did get their hashbrowns and my husband asked for a small alteration. When the food was delivered the man says yes you had many substitutions. Oh my goodness! Do not change anything on the menu! Are you kidding me. We eat out frequently and have never had this happen. Not that great of food and will not return. What a disappointment!

KJ O.

Yelp
3 squares is a simple place, good food, good service, and it feels like a hometown restaurant. I've visited for each of my 3 square meals a day and I go back knowing each time that I'll try something different that will be just as good as the last thing I had. You won't forget the steak and pierogies, that's a meal that'll get you through a chilly winter day. The steak is well seasoned and cooked perfectly. The pierogies were savory and smooth. I think about this dish at least once a week.

Ronald R.

Yelp
Had breakfast last week there , which is best in town . I was very impressed by them having Chilaquiles which is my favorite Mexican breakfast. I would definitely recommend going there .

Jenny C.

Yelp
I will have to try again when I actually go and eat here, but delivery in Mother's Day was really just ok. My husbands chicken and waffle type of brunch was really bad. The gravy was like oily water, and the chicken was extremely odd, like little strips but in a triangle shape, Super strange. I got the farmers breakfast, and it was good. It was cold, so it's hard to give a fair judgement of stuff not only on a holiday, but delivery. My son got waffles, really good. We got pancakes to share and it didn't come with butter or syrup. Then I ordered toast and English muffin came instead. I want to try again, at the restaurant.

David D.

Yelp
This place never lets me down from the food to the drinks its always a good vibe of course. The service is immaculate for sure never had a bad waiter or waitress. Anyways the food is alwags good nothing is taste bad trust me I am a very picky eater.

Dewey C.

Yelp
The steak was amazingly good. done exactly the way I wanted it. I called in the morning to order. They told me 20 minutes. I was there in 20 minutes and it was done perfectly. Medium rare and delicious.

Barb S.

Yelp
The food was served hot & delicious & rather quickly. Our server was very friendly and attentive. The outdoor seating is dog friendly.

Sophie B.

Yelp
The food here is always good. I have gotten the beet salad many times and it is a favorite there. The restaurant is a good place for a nice, quiet dinner with standard food. The blue apron menu is always interesting and delicious.

Emily P.

Yelp
I ordered 3 Squares through Doordash yesterday, and I was pretty impressed with the food, even with it being delivered! It caught my eye as the reviews on Doordash were all good, and I was in the mood for breakfast! I ordered the Farmers Breakfast, the buttermilk pancakes, side meat (I chose sausage link) and a side of real maple syrup. I was a little bummed that the charge for real maple syrup was $.95 and the side meat was $4.25 for 2 sausage links, but I know some of the cost is because I ordered through Doordash. The farmers breakfast was a huge portion of hasbrowns with carmelized onions, cheddar cheese, scrambled eggs and came with a side of toast that I subbed for an extra pancake as I knew my daughter would want some! For a small fee you could also sub for French toast, fruit, or a breakfast salad which sounded interesting. And then I got the buttermilk pancakes which came with 4 cakes, syrup and whipped butter. They were large pancakes and thick, good flavor and I would definitely get them again! And then I got the side of meat and chose sausages, they were delicious!! I was hesitant to get them because the description said sausage link and I was a little worried it would only come with one, but it came with two and I wish I had taken a photo before diving into them because they were a good size, cooked well with great flavor! Overall, I will eat here again. I noticed the menu is large with a very diverse type of food from all day breakfast, starters like cheese curds or chicken tenders, they have pasta dishes and fish options, as well as daily soups that rotate, salads, burgers and sandwiches and kids meals! The price (other than those pesky Doordash fees) seemed right for the portion size, and next time I might trynto pop into the restaurant to see what the inside looks like, and I will update my review with more photos!

Cynthia K.

Yelp
Great food!! Service to a average to good! I'd definitely recommend their breakfast and bloody Mary's

Brian T.

Yelp
Always the spot. Great food, great service. Belly up to the bar and you are treated to an absolute treat. Bartenders and staff are kind and accommodating. Daily specials for food and drink.

Michelle B.

Yelp
They served my 2 year old blueberries with mold. Server didn't apologize and just said "oh no." So if you do go there, make sure to inspect the fruit.

Maxx M.

Yelp
Wow - so good - 5 stars! There's already a mountain of great, well written reviews so I'll keep mine short and sweet. My photos (and all the other photos) really say it all. The people at the Blue Plate Restaurant Company know what they're doing. Today was my first visit to the 3 Squares location and I wasn't disappointed. EXCELLENCE - that's what you get when you combine an American café-style menu with creative recipes, chef grade food execution, quality ingredients, great management, and high standards. I also feel the prices are very reasonable considering what you get for your money. There are so many mediocre (or worse) places in the Twin Cities that could learn a thing or two from these folks. Thumbs up! -Maxx

Danny A.

Yelp
Located at the north end of Main St Maple Grove and just a few steps from my front door is Blue Plate Groups Maple Grove restaurant, 3 Squares. The casual dining restaurant features a small rail bar with plenty of high top seating as well as an opening dining room and south facing patio. I have visited 3 Square a fair amount for brunch, dinner, and happy hour. The fare is what you would expect from an American dining restaurant and Blue Plate. Burgers, wraps, salads, as well as pasta, steak, and seafood dishes. 3 Square, like many of its sister restaurants, also boasts a decent breakfast menu, Freehouse beers, and a nice cocktail program. The service is between good and great. While I cannot speak to the patio or dining room as I tend to sit at the bar, I have had fast, friendly and energetic service as well as slow and somewhat rude service. Honestly, I recommend this place for happy hour. The Freehouse beers are cheap and they run appetizer specials. Outside of happy hour the menu is somewhat steep for the portions and quality of food.

Anna S.

Yelp
Okay lucky for me, This location is pretty close to my house! I have been in a few times for breakfast and it always hits the spot. I love their French toast! The portions are big, the prices are decent. Staff is friendly and remember you (especially if you go 3x in a week......)

Margie S.

Yelp
The service was good. The food was Edible but not remarkable. Seared Tuna was tough and the salad under it was bland. The fish in the fish and chips tasted old and "fishy". The ice cream sundae was very good.

Michelle R.

Yelp
Beets salad with salmon was excellent! Love the yellow and red beets. 3 squares has a solid drink menu as well. Love the turkey burger and huevos rancheros.
