UnderTow, Platform 18, and 36 Below Are Phoenix Cocktail Bars With a Big Touch of Theater | Bon Appétit

"Hidden in the basement of a coffee shop, this subterranean, nature-themed bar is a lush, digitally enhanced wonderland with wall-to-wall naturescapes, quarterly rotating themes (recently Aquatic Mediterranean), piped-in sounds of waterfalls, and diffused aromas that match each motif. Cocktails are served in dramatic vessels—think a stone chalice shaped like a Greek goddess—and the menu features theatrical, flavor-forward drinks such as the Antediluvian (a spicy bourbon- and sotol-based cocktail topped with aloe air foam and edible flowers), Plato’s Atlantis (thyme- and tomato-infused gin with strawberry, Suze, lemon, cucumber, and a kinome leaf garnish), and the Buried Fortune (presented in a smoke-billowing bowl that invites you to “go fish” for your treasure, tasting strongly of bourbon with nutty sunflower-seed syrup notes). Digital art (for example, fish and orcas swimming by a submarine porthole) and immersive scents complete the sensory experience." - ByLanee Lee

We had a group of 12 and were lucky enough to get seated in a private space. The vibes were so dreamy. It felt like stepping into a secret little world under the city 🧜‍♀️🌊 The theme that night was mermaids, and the decor and drinks were totally giving under the sea fantasy. The lighting was soft and magical, the projections on the walls made everything feel alive, and every detail was so thought out. The cocktails? So cute. So fun. They came in creative glassware like conch shells and coral reef colors. I had one with glitter and edible pearls and honestly felt like Ariel at happy hour ✨🪸 The service was amazing. Super attentive and helpful even with our big group. Everyone was happy with their drinks and the whole night felt special without being over the top. 36 Below is the perfect spot if you want to impress your guests or just treat yourself to a different kind of night out. It’s intimate, gorgeous, and full of magic. I’ll definitely be back 🥂

Everything about this place is fun and whimsical! So extra too. Service was amazing. Prompt and accurate. Definitely should make a reservation or try your luck without one. The drinks were so yummy- and the best part is they have mocktails (as someone who’s pregnant but still wants to be included I loved it!). Each drink has a unique way it is served. Magical! We also got dessert- savory & sweet. Changing themes is also just a cool idea.

Wow! I reserved the private room but I never expected anybody to go out of their way like Adam did. From the get go, he was welcoming and very attentive to us all in the room. He even successfully got us all to take a shot of Malörts by being completely honest about its taste. A true host, guiding us through our night celebrating my wife’s birthday. Lastly I want to mention that Adam actually brought items from home to make the birthday girl a Chartreuse Swizzle. Thank you so much for an excellent night 36 Below!

Our first visit to 36 Below and we were not disappointed. The atmosphere was great. Summer and Adam (?) were great hosts. The drinks were some of the best we’ve had. This is a highly recommended place.

This is the best time I've been here! Previously I felt the service was a little snobbish but this server was amazing! Explained all the drinks, cared for our videos, was also attentive. She made us want to come back! Drinks were fantastic! We tried every single seasonal one. Plus the vibe was poppin! I'm so glad we came back again for this theme!! We will be back!

My friend wanted to go for the Harry Potter theme happening here. It is a very small place. Reservations are required. It was light on the theme but the drinks were magical! The bartender 😍 made us some savory basil martini drink 🍸 😋. We tried all the Potter drinks. They were tasty. He made us a glowing green shot for my friends bday. So very kind of him. It was outstanding! We got the deal for 4 drinks & a prosciutto flatbread. We had a marvelous time!😍 I would go again.

We’re so glad we stumbled upon this tropical speakeasy! From the moment we walked in, we were transported to a paradise of vibrant flavors, great vibes, and outstanding service. Adam, our mixologist for the night, truly made our celebratory evening unforgettable. His menu recommendations were on point and made us feel like we were in the hands of an expert. He went above and beyond to ensure we had an amazing experience, and his warm, welcoming personality made the night even more special. The ambiance is absolutely perfect—a cozy, island-inspired retreat that’s the ideal setting for a night out. The drinks? Incredible. Each one is thoughtfully crafted, beautifully presented, and bursting with unique tropical flavors. You can tell a lot of care goes into every detail. If you’re looking for a great night with fantastic drinks, fun vibes, and exceptional service, this place is a must-visit. And definitely ask for Adam to be your guide through the menu—you won’t be disappointed!

Yelp
I went to the grand opening for 36 Below in 2021, and have been a regular since. There is no shortage of speakeasies in the Phoenix area, but with rotating themes that completely transform the space, every visit feels like stepping into an entirely different world, and I appreciate that. It certainly keeps me coming back. Service has always been good and I had a particularly great experience last night. Adam was very friendly and attentive. There was also a lady working with him behind the bar (sadly didn't catch her name) who was great. I've enjoyed several of their food options over the years. There's typically plenty enough to share. It isn't a big space, but it means there is not a bad seat. It's fully immersive experience no matter where you are. They do a great job at decorating and getting the space in the spirit of the current theme. The drinks are always very creatively presented and there are always several options that directly relate to the theme, along with drinks that are constant offerings on the menu. The scenes on the screen are nice. If you stay long enough, you typically get to experience daytime and nightime scenery. Depending on the theme and time of year, it can be hard to score a seat but the reservation system works well. I've also showed up on a random evening and been able to get on the list. Plenty of parking space in the back. I've never had trouble getting a spot.

Yelp
We like this little basement bar a lot. They change their theme every so often and right now it is a Polynesian theme. We were here during the winter wonderland theme as well as the garden theme. So far I like the garden theme best but the others have been fun too. We were early for a reservation but they still took us right down. The hostess gave us each a lei and led us down the stairs. The walls of the staircase are covered in moss and plants - - it's really quite pretty. They do cram a lot of tables in so you are very close to your neighbors. Everything seems to work so well together - - The black and white tile floor and the flower mural on the ceiling. There are screens which moving pictures to add to the atmosphere - - like you're really there. They serve very creative cocktails here both in flavor and in presentation. Everything we had tonight was delicious and so cute! One cocktail served in a parrot mug was set on fire, one cocktail glowed purple, one was served in a seashell glass with boba, and one had a little plastic mermaid hanging off the side of the glass. Every time we've come here they just have the most creative drinks. As we were leaving the place was starting to become very crowded, and I was grateful that we were on our way out. We got our drinks right away, but I don't know how easy it was for the crowd that was coming as we were leaving. Will be back, especially when they change the theme again. What will they have up their sleeves next?

Yelp
It's been almost 2 years since I've been here, but was excited to check it out again for their underwater theme this spring/summer. They switch it up every 3ish months so appreciated the variety. There's a small parking lot in the back. Unsure if it was because we were a party of 5 or since my friend accidentally made the reservation for 7, but we were in the private room I didn't know existed. As we headed down the stairs, the private room is off to the right with a door masked as a bookshelf and was a fun space! There was a tv we put to use, playing some songs. Our server, Chris, was very attentive and checked in often. As there was a deposit of $25/person placed towards the bill, we all ordered a few drinks to share including the truffle steak frites. The fries are crinkle cut, and while that's not my preferred fries style, they were crispy and paired well with the chopped up steak, cheese, and sauce - didn't get too much of a truffle flavor though. If you look at their drink menu online, it'll show you what they look like including some of the fun glassware it comes in! We tried the: Aquatica Theme: - Aloha Kai - comes in a fun treasure box and the glass lights up! There's also a skull on the giant ice cube. Drink itself just tasted like a clarified bourbon, didn't get much of the tasting notes though (pandan, jasmine water) - Pearl of the Sea - loved the shell glassware! A light tropical drink with popping boba - Coral Queen - wow, we all wanted more of this salted strawberry foam on top! Drink reminded me of the Pearl of the Sea - lightened tropical Signature Drinks: - The Orchid - cute! Could taste the lavender and vodka/st. Germain - Martini 36 - I like how sweet it was compared to the other espresso martinis I've had elsewhere. Comes with a dusted "36" on top - Kiwi's Nest - fun decor with the moss. Liked the taro-coco milk! They were also very kind to gift a round of birthday shots! We asked for a fruity tequila and they delivered. I can see how the main dining area can get cramped so thankful to know they have a private room which comes in handy with larger parties!

Yelp
As the self-appointed king of speakeasies, it's important for me to maintain my crown by checking out new ones regularly. On a Saturday afternoon, I made a reservation for 36 Below in Arcadia. They have a parking lot in the back so parking was a cinch. Ambiance (4/5): 36 Below has different themes during the year. Two of them are Halloween and Christmas. The other two are wildcards. Before their current Aquatica theme, they had a Harry Potter-themed one. I'm bummed I missed it! All good, I'm always down for a tropical/Hawaiian themed speakeasy, too. 36 Below is located inside a coffee shop (Sip). There's a staircase that takes you down to the speakeasy. Unfortunately, it's very easy to find as there's signage both inside and outside. Which takes away from the appeal of a speakeasy's true nature. The seating is a bit uncomfortable, too. All good because the decor is fun. It's intimate, we're talking 25 seats or so, so make a reservation if you're visiting on a weekend. Service (3.5/5): For a small bar, the service is a bit slow. I had to wrangle our waitress to put in another drink order and to close out. You're also only seated for an hour and a half before your seats go to the next reservation (if there is one). It wasn't a rushed experience for us but something to take note of. The service was friendly even though it wasn't the most efficient. Food (N/A): I had food prior so I was on a liquid diet, but they do have light bites. Think things like chips and guac, truffle steak fries, popcorn, etc. Not a full meal but good if you want something to snack on. Drinks (4.5/5): Five or six of the cocktails were themed and the others were their regular cocktails. When you think of a speakeasy, you think of elevated cocktails. And this was certainly the case here. My first cocktail was a tropical-themed one served in a mermaid glass. My second cocktail, off the regular menu, was a gin-based spritz. Both had an interesting fusion of flavors. The creativity is there. As is the presentation. Well done. A couple of knocks on 36 Below, but overall, a solid speakeasy. I'll be back for their Halloween theme!

Yelp
Came on a Saturday. They provided us with leis upon check in (cute!) I had Made a reservation prior and was immediately seated when I arrived. (I will say the table and chairs are small/tiny and I felt like a grown-up sitting at a preschool table. We ended up switching from a table to the bar for comfort). It's small inside and I was happy that we came earlier in the day (around 3:30 PM ) because it probably would be very uncomfortable in the evenings when it's more crowded/more people. I love that the bar has built-in wireless charging! the decor and ambience was nice. David Was our bartender and he was fabulous! Delicious drinks. And a great personality/conversation. The drinks were he made delicious! And loved the presentation. we had the: Aloha Kai Coral queen (salted strawberry cream it was amazing!) Range rau Land ika

Yelp
I visited 36 Below on a Thursday night with my friend while visiting Arizona for her birthday. I had just flown in from LA, and as a die-hard Harry Potter fan, I couldn't miss the chance to check out this themed speakeasy before the magic disappeared! Finding it was a little confusing at first -- when you walk in, it looks like a cute, empty café. We stood there for a second, unsure, until a kind lady sitting off to the side gave us a friendly wave and directed us downstairs to the hidden gem below. That moment alone made it feel like we were stepping into another world! The ambiance inside 36 Below was amazing -- it totally gave off those magical, underground wizard vibes. I ordered the Slither & Sip cocktail, which came in the coolest snake-shaped glass and tasted just as enchanting as it looked. The attention to detail was everything. So glad we made it just in time to experience the Harry Potter theme. Highly recommend if you're into creative cocktails, unique atmospheres, or just looking for something fun and different in Phoenix!

Yelp
Hollow pop up. We had a late reservations on a Saturday night and it wasn't busy or packed. Our server was okay but she looked like she didn't want to be there. The space is small & intimate. The decor was spot on with the HP theme and we loved it! We did the cocktail experience for four . Drinks were okay, I had the messenger & the orchard (unfortunately it didn't come in the hanging glass as they only had 2 ?). We had the prosciutto & sub for the tuna tartare and that was delightful but needed more chips. Overall, it's a cute experience to try and I look forward to more of their pop up!

Yelp
Visiting from out of town I made several reservations at unique places in Phoenix. I really wanted to love this place, but the screen images of the underwater were very cartoonish, and then got stuck on some dirty underwater scene. The drinks were OK, however, there was one that was truly pretty terrible and was recommended by the hostess. Something to do with fermented Captain crunch cereal - it was terrible. Don't try it. The staff were friendly and fun - but it was loud and crowded. The food was good! I was happy to see more food than what other similar places offer.

Yelp
We had another great time at 36 Below. Summer and Adam once again enhanced the experience once again. This time we picked the "Bartender's Choice" and Adam created some amazing drinks. This place does not disappoint.

Yelp
This is a cute speakeasy located downstairs underneath a coffee bar. I've been to the coffee bar upstairs, which has an alcohol bar, food and full service espresso. The coffee I had was amazing and the upstairs has a large area to do work with wifi and tables. They have a huge indoor and outdoor seating area, with really cute places to take photos To go to the bar, reservations are needed. I went during their Harry Potter theme, which was cute but I think they could have upped the decorations. They had the theme on their screens and some minimal decor with three specialty drinks. I didn't like that they couldn't use certain cups for drinks if you did not want the one for the specific cup. They have a lot of unique drinks and cute cups for the aesthetic. I liked the large array of options but a lot of their drinks are more gentlemen style, not a lot of sweet. They're also very tequila heavy, which I don't like. Overall, it's definitely worth experiencing. They have a good deal for 4 drinks and an appetizer for $80, which is cheap cause each drink is about $20. The flat bread was really good and fresh. It had a savory sweat prosciutto with honey. The bread was light and airy. Would definitely come for a special occasion! The inside is small and intimate and it's a great place for a date!

Yelp
The appeal of 36 Below was initially the Harry Potter theme they had. They completely hit the nail on the head with that one. When I first walked in, I'll admit I was confused because the address brought me to a place with no discernible attachment to 36 Below. After going inside, and some helpful staff direction, I realized the below part of the establishment's name is quite literal. I ordered every drink off their themed menu, and was not disappointed. They also have a signature cocktail menu that I am sure would also prove to be just as good. Off their food menu, I ordered the prosciutto flatbread to share with one other person. All around, anything I ordered was delicious. The only reason I had to take a star off was for the uncomfortable chairs and the fact that I was quite literally shouting to be heard by my friend sitting across from me. The music is loud, people are intoxicated, so it makes sense, but that could limit some people's experience. Despite that, like 9.5/10 would visit again.

Yelp
Long been on my list to try. 36 below is a speakeasy bar under Sip. It's neighbors with one of my favorite spots- Century Grand. Finally made it out due to Derek Y making a Rez to try the current theme: Harry Potter bar. Me personally, I have zero interest in Harry Potter anything, but I do have serious interests in delicious drinks. So we found some common ground there :D Derek tried a mocktail version of the foam on the rim, my honey and I went harder. We got the 36 below cocktail experience for 2. That ends up being 4 drinks and a flatbread for $79. Actually pretty decent deal, and there were at least 2 drinks I wanted to try so we would have ordered that much anyway. We essentially got a free flatbread, and delicious at that. All the drinks were beautiful and interesting. Well balanced. Service was great and staff were friendly. It's a small space so it seemed everyone was chill and enjoying the chillbo baggins music. My hands down fave drink was the earl grey sour. SO good. I love earl grey and whiskey sours so it was perfect for me.

Yelp
A friend and I got a reservation for their pop-up Harry Potter bar. I am not the hugest fan of Harry Potter but my friend is a die hard fan. To begin the parking lot needs some major renovations as there are several pot holes (something to keep in mind when parking) The coffee shop is very cute and we made our way to the hostess stand who was very kind and got us in earlier than our reservation time. The bar itself is very small and seating very tight if you suffer from claustrophobia this is not the place for you. I thought the theming was ok but could be better however my friend who really knows Harry Potter was disappointed. The bartenders were quick and the drinks were just ok very strong but not what we were hoping for. All in all I am not sure that I would make my way back to 36 below.

Yelp
36 Below was decorated for the Christmas pop up and it was sooo cute! Very festive and I loved walking down the stairs and seeing all the decorations - made it very official. I had the nog drink and my boyfriend just got a glass of red wine (boring! ;)). I loooved my drink - I like the creamier ones so this hit the spot. Still not too sweet but warming and punchy and yummy. And it came with a roasted marshmallow, which tasted so good when soaking up the drink. My boyfriend also liked my drink and was surprised he liked it so much. He did love his wine. The service was fast which is nice because you only have 1.5 hours to sit and drink. We only had time for one drink but they're a little expensive so it worked out!
google avatar

Travis S.

Yelp
First time visiting and we were very very impressed! We came during the Christmas theme and it was awesome. Such a fun vibe and the Christmas decorations really made you feel like you were out of AZ for a bit. Definitely recommend making a reservation if you want to come. Walk ins are allowed but it's a long list and saw a lot of people get turned away. The inside is small but very intimate. Great spot for a friend's night or a date! The decorations were perfect, Christmas music playing, and just a great Christmas vibe the whole time. They do have a good size drink menu, plus a seasonal drink menu, and a few appetizer options as well. We did the Group of 4 combination and it was the perfect amount of drinks and food. Highly recommend. The Holiday Nog was the showstopper- so delicious and smooth. Pro Tip: the drinks can take a while to make/come to your table. Order early so you have enough time to enjoy the whole experience. They are only 90 minute reservations so don't be late! It's an excellent Christmas bar and we will definitely be back again to see their next theme.
google avatar

Kasey G.

Yelp
Came for the Christmas bar, the theme is cute and everything is decorated. It's a restaurant underneath a coffee shop which also had good spiked coffee and cocktails. The space is small, short ceilings which gives it a nice aesthetic. (I was a little claustrophobic) Bartenders and service were great, sat at the bar and got to see the drinks being made. Speaking of drinks they mainly have cocktails and light bites, but the cocktails were delicious, very unique. There were so many different options that sounded good I couldn't choose. I had one that was hanging like a chair, and a mushroom. They also give great descriptions below the drinks, which helped and made it fun. They had a great special going on for 2 or 4 people. 2 people 4 drinks and an apt for $80, I love a good deal. Would love to see it normally as well, excited to try it again. A lot of potholes in the parking lot though.

Yelp
Had been wanting to check this place out for the longest time and the opportunity finally came by. Made a reservation a week prior and booking it was easy. We booked for 11:30pm on a Friday night. The day finally came by and we were hella early - about an hour and a half early. We got a drink at SIP and sat outside on the patio for a bit. My friend decided to go ask the hostess about maybe letting us in early and she said all she was given was attitude for asking. It was finally 11:25pm and time to head downstairs. The hostess was no longer there at the top so we walked ourselves down. Once downstairs, we were told to wait and a worker finally came over and sat us at the bar. Our seating arrangement was weird as there was a big pole separating my one friend from us two as we were a party of three. One of the bartenders quickly greeted us as we sat down and he quickly gave us the rundown of the menu. We all ordered different drinks. My two friends ordered off their "spooky" special menu and I ordered off their regular menu. I had the mycelium drink and they had a cauldron drink and a potion drink. (don't remember the names) Water was also brought out so we sipped on that while we waited. About 15 minutes passed by and our drinks were finally given to us. The potion drink was bomb. It was sweet and not too strong. The cauldron drink was a rip off and not even half way full. It was less then half, more like a shot - my friend was upset. On social media it is portrayed differently - we have seen may posts about the cauldron being full, hmmm. The presentation of the mycelium drink was pretty cute and unique. Taste wise? GROSS. I did not like it one bit. It was super sour, bitter, and tasted what I think gasoline must taste like. It literally gave me heartburn the rest of the night... Only spent about 45 minutes here and we decided to leave. Its small inside and it was still very much packed when we left. Cool concept and great décor / theme but ehh could've definitely been better.
google avatar

Kelli K.

Yelp
I've been to 36 Below twice with two different groups and both times everyone thought the cocktails were not good. Having tried multiple, I really think they miss the mark with flavors in basically all of their original creations. We actually didn't even finish our drinks they were that gross. The Negroni was very good though, and my friend enjoyed her dirty martini, so definitely consider sticking to the classics if you come. We also tried the prosciutto and burrata plate and it was good but definitely overpriced. Service is very meh despite being a super small place. We had to call our waitress over multiple times as she never checked back. It is really small and cramped, but I do think it's cozy inside and the Christmas decor was nice.

Yelp
Went out for the night with the girls!! We all love Harry Potter and were so excited to be able to experience the Harry Potter theme. As you descend the stairs the ceiling has Hogwarts letters hanging and it was a very nice touch to the theme. The overall bar is small but it was perfect when we went since there were not many people there. There were even a couple of tables that were empty. The decor was SPOT ON everywhere and I loved that the sorting hat was included. There were floating candles scattered throughout the ceiling of the main bar!! The drinks were absolutely delicious!! I had the Slither & Sip while my friends had The Goblet. Both were divine!! We showed up without a reservation but were able to be sat for about 45 minutes and we took advantage of it. Unfortunately, the service was quite slow and we weren't greeted for about 15 minutes thus we were only able to order one drink each. We all decided to just have one drink and no appetizers since the food would take too long for our limited time. I do plan to come back and with a reservation :)

Yelp
Drinks are 10/10, I don't think you can order a bad drink. Expensive but quality and they're strong so worth it and great spot for a fun date night. Food was good, service was good. We went during the Harry Potter pop up which was a fun lil theme. V cool place!

Yelp
This place is always so much fun! I recently went for their Halloween pop-up and it didn't disappoint. Reservations are easy to make online and recommended. They had a great deal going on for 4 drinks and a hummus platter for $50, but the drink selection was only for their festive drinks (which was fine for us since that's what wanted). I tried the Skull Crusher and Wildfire. The Wildfire came in a potion bottle and was my favorite. It had a Smokey smell but the drink itself wasn't as Smokey. They also had a drink that came in a Calderon that was fun. The hummus plate was delicious. Someone made the wrong drink for us, and they let us keep the wrong drink in addition to the correct one, so that was very nice of them. This place is very small, and located below a coffee shop and they do a fantastic job on their decorations.
google avatar

Bridget S.

Yelp
Came for the Christmas pop up. Limited seating in general, so even if you're planning a not holiday outing I would say aim to get reservations. The Christmas decor was amazing and I found myself in my happy place with it. They do give a heads up the terms of time to make cocktails since for the size of the space it is quite busy and they do put a lot of care into the cocktails. I went with the proscuitto and burrata and my friends went with the salmon dip and hummus plate. Although those were delicious, Im not sure I'd make the salmon dip 22 dollars. Other than that, the festive themed cocktails were amazing and did not disappoint. The decorative windows portraying a snow themed view really did make us feel like we were in a cabin tucked away in the woods. It really was winter time in Phoenix

Yelp
This bar is amazing. The bartender server combination we got was amazing. Not a huge drinker and i can tell these were quality drinks and the vibe is second to none. I like that it's intimate in an almost basement setting. The screens gives off an ocean or beach vibe. Definitely a dope experience
google avatar

Lino I.

Yelp
It's a pretty dope spot! I like how every section of the building had a different vibe to it! Biggest downside is if you don't have a reservation it kind of sucks because you have to wait until a spot opens up. The drink were pretty tasty but the were pricy. Overall it was a solid place to check out for a date night.
google avatar

Alyssa M.

Yelp
Please make a reservation unless you're okay with sitting at the bar. The place is super small. Also I think they have different themes each night. Also had mocktails if you don't drink! Also bring a flashlight hahaha just a little dim inside

Yelp
This was my 2nd time going to 36 Below (the first time was a few years back when it was a different theme). Being huge Potterheads, my friend and I decided to check it out since they have a Harry Potter theme going on. They had some cute decorations like the candles and flying keys hanging from the ceiling, the letters behind the bar and down the entrance, and some other little nods to HP. I do wish they'd done a bit more for the theme since it still looked very similar to how it was before. They had a great deal for 4 drinks and a flatbread (only $79!!!). Both were yummy and the bartenders were quick, attentive, and friendly. The speakeasy is also located in a cute coffee shop (will have to try at some point) and there is a pretty good parking lot.

Yelp
My mom and I went to try 36 Below to taste some of their Christmas specials! My mom got the eggnog martini and I got the Talbot (vodka, apple brandy, earl grey tea, fig, lime, ginger beer) - we both really liked our cocktails! They were a bit pricey ($45 for 2 drinks) but it was fun environment. It was easy to talk/hear each other versus some of the other bars in the area which I appreciated! Our server was a sweet girl and we got there right when they opened so we were seated right away (made reservations) and got drinks fairly quickly! We liked the decorations but wished they dressed it up a bit more and had a couple more Christmas cocktail options for the season!

Yelp
36 Below is such a fun spot located below a coffee shop. I love the dark and moody interior, which right now has Harry Potter adjacent decor. Service was great. I do remember there being food options previously, but I didn't see those options this time. The drinks were fun and unique. A fun spot and experience.

Yelp
Been trying to make the effort to check out some Christmas bars this year and this one is okay. Drinks had a beautiful presentation but not the best tasting in my opinion. Place was also very tiny and little too crowded. Staff was sweet though!

Yelp
Small and crowded, this place gets by on feeling like you're doing something exclusive. (Reservations are pretty much mandatory it seems.) They go all in on decor, too. I've been two years in a row for their Christmas-theme, and it does feel cute and cozy. The drinks menu is fairly expansive - ranging from standard cocktails to elaborate ones with neon colors that glow and change. (I believe the latter is called The Druid Circle or something like that?) The only downsides are that it IS so small and because the chairs are truly the most uncomfortable of any establishment I've been to. They are small, low to the ground, and harder than sitting on a straight up board. But they look cute while being monstrously uncomfortable at least!

Yelp
Came for the holiday pop up and it was such a fun experience! We were truly confused when trying to find it since it down the stairs of the coffee shop but it was such a fun surprise! The decor is so cute and a complete winter wonderland. It feels so cozy and the screens were showing snow fall, which coming from the east coast, I really really miss. All the Christmas cocktails were delicious and really balanced. The signature cocktails were also really good and that's what really gives the place 5 stars. They have a great range of liquors if you don't like certain ones like me. The seating is definitely strict with timing and we wished we could order one more round after three! Will definitely be going back! Not at all gimmicky as some other places are, the cocktails are genuinely really good.

Yelp
I have to say this is the first speakeasy experience where they don't have weird and nasty drinks in the valley. I love how their ingredients are simple and easy to decipher from the menu. Their drinks were pleasing to the eyes and also a delight to my taste buds. They still had their holiday seasonal menu which was thought was good but strong. Their drinks are definitely strong, and reasonably priced. The only downfall is how small it is inside. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
When I booked this I wasn't expecting the area to be cramped. It felt overly packed. The winter decor was pretty but kind of tacky. Service was alright. The drink we got was the eggnog one. I could not really taste the eggnog with the overwhelming taste of alcohol. The marshmallow on top had the most flavor. Nice but would not recommend for the super high price and a beverage that does not taste good.

Yelp
Been waiting to check this place out as platform 18 is right next door and the experience there was great. As for 36 below, this place is small and cozy fitting maybe 10 group of 4. Since we went during the holidays, the display screens were lit up with winter blizzard and cabin vibes, and definitely warm and stuffy. Additionally the scent was a little overwhelming for me and not in a good way, but I guess your nose eventually gets used to it. Definitely would recommend the facility to adjust their temperature setting! As for our drinks, I forgot to jot down what's it called, but it was with vodka, floral and earthy tasting. Kinda reminded me of ginseng flavor 3.5/5.

Yelp
I loved it!! Every moment was fantastic from my first step down into the magical cottage/woodland themed bar to my last steps out. I had visited the location years back when it was Undertow but hadn't had the chance to stop in since 36 Below opened and I'm so glad I did! I stopped in Friday evening knowing that without a reservation there was an extremely good chance I'd be fairly turned away or have to make a reservation for later. But the wonderful hostess/server, Lauren, greeted me with a big smile. I told her I hadn't made a reservation but she was able to accommodate me quickly and cheerfully as someone had not shown up for their reservation that still had a good 30/40 mins left on it or offered to help me make a reservation for later if I'd like to be there longer. Since I was only having one cocktail before a reservation next door the first option was perfect! She brought me to a cute little table with a great view of the bar and all it had to offer... A peaceful meadow filled with flowers swaying in the wind played next to me and a cute little cottage beyond a field was visible from the other end of the bar on window like screens, so cute and surreal! She offered me a glass of water while I perused the menu, noting the QR code available that shows you what all the drinks looks like! Such a great idea for a place that puts so much thought and showmanship in their cocktails! Lauren asked me my preferences in drinks and suggested her favorite, a delicious gin based cocktail called the Centaurus.. FANTASTIC!! It was not only beautiful but perfectly crafted and delicious! In fact, the gentleman (that based on other reviews I now know to be the manager) Mario, came by and asked me how I liked my drink explaining further the ingredients and preparation. He even brought me over the bottle of gin it was made with so I could grab a pic and told me where I could by some too for my home brews! Lauren made me feel so welcomed while Mario went the extra mile to let me peak behind the curtain. I love this bar and am already planning my next visit with friends! Please note that the cocktails are on the pricier side but compared to the experience you receive and enchantment of 36 Below very well worth every penny!

Yelp
Omg I love this place. It's so instagrammable and peaceful! The drinks were amazing. I had the holiday nog and the nutcracker (both of which is pictured). Come and take pictures and be merry!

Yelp
This was a cute speakeasy bar. The room is small but cozy and the service was nice. We enjoyed our night there and also loved the ambiance of the room. You'll love it. All the drinks look beautifully prepared and delicious too. I would definitely come again

Yelp
This place is such a cool spot! From the moment you check in and are taken downstairs into the bar, the experience feels unique and exciting. The space is small, but the ambiance is incredible--perfectly cozy and immersive. I came specifically for the holiday drinks, and the Christmas pop-up did not disappoint. The festive vibe was on point! The service was excellent, with attentive staff. The drinks are priced $15+, but for the quality and the overall experience, I'd say it's worth it. As someone who loves a good cocktail, I left impressed and would definitely come back--especially for the fun, themed pop-ups!

Yelp
Didn't eat there. Had 1 drink that wasn't that great. The only part of the experience i thought was nice is that they gave us imitation Hawaiian leis. The place was super small. No wonder they recommend reservations on the weekend. Cause there isn't enough seating for too many people in a party. I'm glad finally went will I ever go back no. There is much better Speak-Easy bars near me that much more seating

Yelp
This is a speakeasy spot, with a classic bookshelf entrance which is always cool to experience. Once you get into the bar you see all these LED screens that look like you're experiencing snow which was awesome since we were in the middle of the desert hahahaha. The ambiance was great so was the service and the drinks. One thing I wasn't too fond of was the time limit. You had to finish within 90 minutes, which I can understand they want to service more customers but when you're vibing with your friends sometimes time flies by, know what I mean?

Yelp
If you haven't been in the last few months, go again. The drinks were great, atmosphere was fun, even the mocktails were amazing. Love the service. I think Adam is my favorite bartender ever, and Summer was our server. She was smiling, professional, efficient, and friendly - as was Adam. Definitely spread the word. If you had a bad experience more than about 6 months ago, try it again.

Yelp
I have been wanting to go to this bar for some time. Once I saw they had a winter pop-up, I knew it was time to go. I highly recommend making reservations. The reservation is for 90 minutes since the bar is small and limited in seating. When we arrived we were seated right away. Our server brought a menu. The menu includes a few food items. There also had a few special holiday drinks. Although I enjoyed myself and drinks, half way through our reservation our server left. Apparently she had an emergency and we were never told anything. It wasn't until we flagged another server to take our picture that she informed us that one of the servers had to leave. We figured it was our server since we hadn't seen her for quite some time. It would have been nice to be told and for another server to take over our. Once our 90 minutes were up someone did bring our bill. We did enjoy our experience. We felt like we were in a ski resort watch "snow" falling. The winter pop-up goes through January 5. If you are able to get reservations you should definitely go.

Yelp
Great cocktails and fun atmosphere. The bar frequently rotates its cocktails, food, and overall theme, so you can look forward to something new the next time you visit. Right now, it has an Alice in Wonderland type feel, but there are plans for a Halloween, winter tundra, and Christmas theme in the coming months. Our server was incredible, fun, extremely knowledgeable and helpful in selecting a drink you'll love. A fun stop for sure!

Yelp
I'll start the review on semi positive note , the location/ decor was pretty! The establishment gives off a dark, moody , fairy garden vibes . I really don't have anything else positive to say about my experience here ! It wasn't what I expected and I was very disappointed. We had to make a reservation due to how small the place was ,my girlfriend and I had a 10:30pm reservation and arrived about 15 mins early but even then once our reservation came up we waited 10 mins after our reservation to be seated . Once seated the waiter came to us and brought us water but it was room temperature water , she didn't ask if we wanted ice or anything , but the couple that was seated right after us she served them ice water. Thought that was odd , though it may seem like a small thing it's just observation I didn't like as far customer service and the waitresses attitude was just ewww. Then when the waiter came to take our order we wanted to order the small bites off their menu and she prompted to tell us that they ran out of food . What establishment runs out of food ? In addition to that it would've been nice to have known that before hand . She could've simply said " before you look at the menu , we currently out of food and are only serving cocktails" , then we'd have the option to leave , but yet we were seated with the impression there'd be something to snack on during the experience. We only got two drinks ! I really just don't have much to say about this place . I would say this establishment was over hyped on social media and wasn't worth $40 spent on the time spent there . Very tight space so don't underestimate when they say small space . Just a heads up due to it being such a small space , be aware it's not as intimate as you'd expect to be , it's extremely loud the music doesn't fit the ambiance it gives . Just overall experience was a 1/10 wouldn't recommend.

Yelp
Had a great time! Our bartender Gevone was attentive, suggested good drinks and overall gave us great service. The Odori Kohi was awesome, the Glass House was good but I wish I did another Odori Kohi. The phone chargers built into the bar are a cool touch too!

Yelp
The drink I had was not great, and the location is very small and tightly packed but everyone was very nice and the decorations were super cool to see

Yelp
If you stumble upon this place wondering if you should come here, don't hesitate, go make a reservation already. This place is really small so be sure to come with a reservation. Some of the cocktails are presented in unique glassware which adds to the mystical vibe of the bar. Would come again whenever I come back to Phoenix.

Yelp
I liked this experience - I thought the speakeasy was a little overpriced compared to others in the area but overall the atmosphere was fine. The reason for four stars instead of five is that they won't deviate from any of their drinks .. I understand that it's an experience, and the bartenders are taught to make a drink a certain way, but at the prices if you would like to switch out type of alcohol, or leave an ingredient or garnish off of the drink - I think that should be something that could be accommodated.. unless it is all of the drinks are premixed??? I don't know - but that is the only way I could see this being an issue Additionally, I asked the staff what they would recommend and explained the type of drink I was looking for, and there was a lot of stumbling.... This place could easily elevate to five stars but they need to expand their menu a little bit and understand that a few deviations when it comes to craft cocktails should be indulged when you're paying about double for drinks in that location versus elsewhere . Or if the person in charge does not want to deviate, at least make a note of it on the menu, so the customer knows that ahead of time
