Yelp
There have only been a few times over the last decade that a dishI've tried at a restaurant has made me drop my fork the moment I tasted it. I need go be stunned at the quality of the bite I've just had, completely captivated by the flavor engulfing my pallet. I can recall it happening maybe two times over the past year and both at eateries I now consider some of New Orlean's best. I'm lucky enough to have had a similar experience at Origen, and in the same vein, the Venezuelan bistro has become an undeniable juggernaut for me in the city's restaurant scene. This small locale in St. Roch has a unique, yet charming, set-up. It was curated to look like an old Latin American hotel, complete with cozy wooden dinner tables and a couple Clase Azul bottles tucked in corners here and there. The ambience remained pleasant throughout, with a kind wait staff who, while new, answered our questions and provided recommendations to a desirable extent. Everything about the food had been masterful, from the portion size to the authentic aromas and savoriness. The appetizer arepas had the perfect combination of crumbly bread and seasoned chicken, with the beef option stealing the show. Origen Venezuelan Bistro impressed me from the very first mouthful and, like other restaurants that have done the same before, deserves every local's utmost attention.

Yelp
Went to check out Origen -- we had just realized it wasn't Luna Libre anymore! We got there right at 10:30 when they opened and were seated immediately. The space is really cute! It has a lot of character with Mis matched chairs and cool principal features of the building. They serve their menu all day which is awesome they have some really good looking entrées I want to go back to try! For today we stuck with the brunch side. I got the Origen Spritz to drink and my husband got a rum to sip on! They were both incredible--the rum didn't even taste like alcohol it was so smooth. For entrees we both got the arepas pabellon! It was amazing. It has shredded meat, sweet plantain, cheese and beans. Ask for the vinegar sauce to go with it!!! It reminds me of pikliz liquid. It's the perfect addition to the meal. Everything was so good and it was the perfect amount of food. For my multilingual friends The staff does speaks Spanish! We will definitely be back to try some more delicious food! I also am looking forward to visiting their sister restaurant.

Yelp
I started with the Cuba Libre to drink. This is simply a Rum & Coke by a different name. I don't recommend this drink. The food was great though. I ordered the Parilla Origen: Smoked meat, chorizo, fries, yuca fries and a house salad. The salad was very good. I enjoyed that main course just as much. The yuca fries and the steak were my favorite! The service here is great. Everything was delivered quickly, hot, and fresh. I think the restaurant is a nice spot to hang out. The music was so good I asked if it was a playlist. Turns out it was the Stevie Wonder station on Spotify. I plan to go back and try more things on the food and drink menus. They also have brunch which has me intrigued.

Yelp
This place was sooo good. First of all, don't be dissuaded by the outside. It looks shabby from outside but inside is sooo cute and giving all the Spanish vibes. We ordered the typical Venezuelan dish, Pabellón and it was delicious! Also ordered an appetizer of tequeños and ordered juasacaca sauce instead of the one it came with and boiiiii it was soo good!!! High recommend this place.

Yelp
Origen Venezuelan Bistro made a huge impression on a friend and I on our first visit for a lunch yesterday and we already want return. The space is welcoming, attractive and comfortable, very fitting for the latest cafe in the eclectic Bywater food scene; I especially love their barge-board interior. We were greeted and seated by OT, who is Venezuelan and gave us terrific descriptions and wonderful recommendations of the menu options. We started with an order of the Toquenos, tasty cheese filled puff pastries served with a yummy sweet chili sauce, then moved to an order of Toquenos, which were also delicious. We finished with 2 different empanadas, one with chicken and one with beef, both very tasty. Origen checked all the marks I look for in a neighborhood bistro: interesting, delicious food which takes me on new culinary adventures; cozy, attractive and comfortable environment; perfect service delivered by a passionate, knowledgeable server and affordable prices. I can't wait to return and explore more of Origen's menu, starting with the ceviche.

Yelp
Origen Venezuelan Bistro knocked it out of the park for my moms birthday dinner! They have a killer happy hour daily so my sangrias (not pictured) were buy one get one free! They gave my mom a beautiful tres leches for her birthday! We had the fried arepa sampler planter and our favorite was the avocado chicken but all were amazing with the perfect texture and bursting with flavor! We also got their tostones de playa appetizer with the cabbage and it was soooo good! And we had to try the tequenos (think pastry x cheese stick) and my picky opinionated almost ten year old who hates cheese ate 4 of them and was raving!!! My son went crazy for their mango juice and now fully expects us to plant a mango tree. My mom got the cachapa that was a huge sweet corn cake with an amazing melted cheese and pork and it was enough for 3 people with leftovers! And it came with amazing black beans ! I had the criollo salad with a side of chorizo and it was My son ordered a salmon entree that came with a side salad with hearts of palm, corn, and avocado and devoured it! Be sure to try the housemade hot sauce / vinegar- it's the grandmas recipe with 5 kinds of peppers and soooo tasty! The building is gorgeous, cute spot on st claude, beautiful lighting and great service. Can't wait to come back !!!! Check them out- mind you they opened 2 weeks ago so they haven't gotten everything in for their cocktail list yet but they have a full bar and tons of na things like flavored topo Chico's and fresh juice!
