My dining companion and I visited the restaurant on Valentine’s Day, having received multiple communications and credit card authorization forms in advance to confirm our reservation. Despite these measures, all guests — ourselves included — experienced significant seating delays averaging nearly an hour, even when arriving early. While understandable given the evening’s volume, this aspect detracted from the overall experience. Fortunately, the bar staff mitigated the wait with well-prepared and balanced cocktails.
Once seated, we were served by Ms. Cynthia P., whose professionalism, attentiveness, and fluency with the menu were exemplary. Her service elevated what would otherwise have been a frustrating start.
Regarding the cuisine, execution was inconsistent. The Blackened Snapper was prepared with precision in terms of temperature and tenderness; however, the seasoning balance was significantly off. The volume of Cajun spices and black pepper was excessive, obscuring the natural delicacy of the fish rather than enhancing it. The accompanying rice side appeared to have been pre-cooked and reheated, resulting in a dry, firm texture and noticeably diminished flavor. For a dish priced at this level, the starch component should reflect the same care as the protein — ideally cooked à la minute or finished properly to preserve texture and aroma.
My entrée, the Stuffed Steak, displayed a curious inconsistency in doneness: one portion cooked to well-done, the other medium rare. This suggests uneven searing or irregular stuffing distribution affecting heat retention. Furthermore, the plating relied heavily on an overly generous sauce portion that overwhelmed rather than complemented the meat. A lighter reduction or more restrained application would have highlighted the steak’s intrinsic flavor and texture far more effectively.
On a positive note, the dessert course showcased the kitchen’s strengths. The cheesecake was superb — smooth, balanced, and executed with precise texture control, while the Chocolate Cake Bomb delivered exceptional richness without excess sweetness or residual heaviness. Both demonstrated technical finesse and a refined palate.
In summary, service and pastry execution were outstanding, while the entrée course revealed issues primarily with seasoning restraint, temperature control, and timing of starch preparation. With attention to consistency and flavor balance, this establishment has the fundamental talent to achieve the level of excellence its presentation and pricing aspire to.
