"So, what’s this place about? Take the W light rail west of Denver and you’ll find big-box stores, fast-food joints, and Colfax’s iconic Casa Bonita (yes, of South Park fame ). But among these monuments to suburban life is a new outdoor art district that’s giving Denver’s other artsy neighborhoods a run for their money. The 40 West Art Line is a free four-mile trail that allows you to bike or walk through 70 different ground murals, fence art, and interactive sculptures. What's the vibe along the tour? Playful and geared toward outdoorsy types. Do we need a guide? The marked green trail weaves through the city and several parks. It’s free, it doesn’t require a guide, and it can be accessed on foot, bike, or scooter. You can tackle the whole trail or just part of it. Who tends to take this tour? In-the-know runners, cyclists, and neighboring families. The art itself—what's it like? The art is varied, colorful, and geared toward all ages. At one section, a Pac-Man-like mural brightens the trail; at another, kids play on an outdoor xylophone. No single work shines above the others, but taken together the art trail is a fun bike or stroll through the West Colfax neighborhood. When you get down to it, who do you think this is best for? It's great for families and active types looking to see a different part of the city."

This is an amazing resource hidden in a building immensely larger than it looks. 5+ gallery’s and one of the better art supply shops in Denver. Come out first Friday for show opening or any Friday, Saturday or Sunday and find something great for your collection.

This is the place. The place that I've been searching for my entire life. A place of endless creativity, wonder and incredible works that were born from the thoughts and imagination of dreamers and believers of expression. I absolutely love and cherish this sanctuary of creation.

We did the art walk with a large group of friends. It was a great time. The Joybomb parade was magical. All the artists were very friendly. We will definitely do it again.

What a cool space! Multiple galleries housed in one building that is much bigger than it looks from the outside. We had such a good time walking through and looking at everything - so much variety and talent! Excited to come back!

Yelp
I've been bullied for two years by another teacher/artist/dancer and when she escalated at Westfax, instead of hearing both sides or seeing evidence, they joined in the slander/libel and banned me. I've been coming to 40 west for years and been an artist through them for 2 years, I had also talked to them previously about the bully and my fear and thought they would stand with me. They took a little while to respond and said they would look into it. When I filed the lawsuit against the bully, I sent on the cover sheet and said I would be happy to provide any evidence or answer any questions. I had been clear about needing a deadline of 9/30, I though a month and half to hear anything was more than reasonable, but they just ghosted me. So now I had to file a lawsuit against them to try and be treated equitably and so I can feel safe moving forward. having to do that, when I'm already dealing with someone who is unhinged is crap.

Yelp
I set out to integrate myself into the arts community in the Denver Metro, and I feel like this organization can deliver! I attended a meeting after being invited by a new acquaintance. I was so inspired by the intense energy and enthusiasm of the members. After going months without creative contact, it was refreshing to be around other artists and be able to talk about art without any shame or pretense! The facility itself is very clean and well-maintained. There is ample gallery space with plenty of opportunities for artist members and volunteers to showcase their work. The website is also very comprehensive and makes it very easy to look up upcoming opportunities, past successes, and current work and contact information of the artists it supports. Kudos to 40 West Arts for taking the plunge and creating a safe space for artists in the community!

Yelp
Fledgling spaces. It could be something really special in time. I hope to patronize the Edge theatre and galleries if I can find people to try new things with me. I don't know much about art, but I appreciate it. I generally like the art here, but don't know if it's good or how to buy and where to put it. I'll keep coming back to events hopefully to learn more.

Yelp
It's so nice to have an arts district on the West side. The people are all so nice and welcoming. We love taking the whole family to their events.
