Eleven Madison Park Split Won’t Impact Pending NYC Restaurant Projects, Owners Say - Eater NY

"This means that the office tower project at 425 Park Ave. will be a Humm restaurant. It’s a two-story restaurant located on the lobby level, and though public details have always been slim, the plan has been for it to be fancy." - Serena Dai

Yelp
We were here during the restaurant week. We got the value out of the set dinner!! Loving the experience! Each dish is an amazing culinary journey, familiar and adventurous tastes of different cultural crossroads, sailing through regions of Asia to the Middle East, from the land of Europe to North America. Delicious and innovative. Ambiance is modern and romantic. Service is polite and could be more consciously attentive. For example, they presented the main course dishes when one of the parties was temporarily absent, a bit surprising. We will be back again though.

Yelp
I went to Four Twenty Five the other day for lunch. The restaurant is a part of the larger office building, and the windows area all covered in shades, so it was a little hard to find the front door (it did not look like a front door). The restaurant inside is quite beautiful, with a bar on the first floor and the dining room on the second. It was very business lunch vibes. The service was good. I tried the following dishes: Yellowfin Tuna (sunflower seed hummus, lime, chili, lotus chips) (5/5): A very good crudo. I thought the hummus was really interesting, and the lotus chips complemented the dish nicely. Agnolotti (roasted squash, ricotta and parmiggiano cheese, brown butter foam, shiitake mushroom agro dolce, amaretti) (3.5/5): This was a pretty good dish, but nothing particularly special. The pasta was well cooked. It was very very rich and buttery. However, I don't know that I enjoyed the mix of flavors, and it was not very memorable. Black Sea Bass (mushrooms) (3/5): This was okay. The fish was cooked nicely and was tender, but the flavors were very muted. The mushrooms were a little salty. Pomme Puree (russet potatoes, butter, cream) (2/5): These mashed potatoes were incredibly buttery -- too buttery. There was literally a pat of butter on top that ran into the already buttery / creamy mashed potatoes (see picture). I loved mashed potatoes, and I love butter, but this was too much. For dessert, we had the apple confit and the chocolate dessert. The apple confit was nice, tasted like an elevated McDonald's apple pie (this is a compliment). The chocolate dessert came with a nice almond ice cream. It was good but very very dense. Overall, I had a decent experience at Four Twenty Five. It wasn't particularly unique or innovative, and I am not sure I would return.

Yelp
The perfect place to spend Thanksgiving. The holiday course is served over the course of 2 hours. Food so good I'll let the photos do the talking. My only regret is not having enough stomachs to try each dish on the Turkey Day menu. Espresso lovers: the martini comes in a cute glass but the beans tastes a little dark (if you're partial to lighter roasts like me.

Yelp
Amazing food and service. Have been here many times and it never gets tired. Great menu options, amazing wine list, top shelf liquor. What a gem!

Yelp
While the food was good, the service and fact that our table was ready 45 minutes after the reservation time really make it hard for me to give more than 3 stars as unacceptable for a Jean George restaurant. That said, the caviar started we got was delicious and the desserts were very good as well.

Yelp
Wow!!!! RW lunch $60 at a spot I've aspired to eat at for awhile . Every detail is delicious from the urbane decor to the superb food where attention to detail is obvious. The meal changed a bit from the original menu but it was absolutely a meal to savor. Ate: Amuse bouche corn fritter Sangiovese wine Bread service Fluke crudo Hake The bread baked in the tin building is nutty & divine. The space just seduces. Delectable and subtle fluke. Spectacular service! This was such a lovely experience!

Yelp
Had lunch here right before Xmas. It was just ok. Service was what you'd expect from a Jean George restaurant. Professional and unobtrusive. Food was good not great and the dining room does not help the experience. Feels a little soulless and too businesslike. Probably won't go back.

Yelp
Date: Wednesday, January 10th, 2024 Time: around 10pm What: Drinks at the bar Party of: 4 *JG Manhattan ($24) *Armagnac Sidecar ($28) *Glass Ch Gloria: Cabernet Blend ($45) *Buffalo Trace Bourbon ($22): Old Fashioned (+$3) *Saratoga Still ($10) x2 We originally were supposed to be here for dinner (our rez was at 9:30pm), but unfortunately something came up and we ended up late. The kitchen was closed, but luckily we were able to have a round of drinks at the bar. I got the manhattan which was nicely balance and spirit forward. Totally my kind of drink. Service was amazing! The host was so sweet and understanding. (They did not charge us a cancellation fee.) The bartender was also great. Attentive and friendly. The space is beautiful. I know Jean Georges recently opened this location, so everything feels new and opulent. I will definite come back for a proper dinner. But drinks at the bar were very fun.

Yelp
Beautiful food, gorgeous ambiance. I liked some of the dishes more than others. The octopus and squid a La plancha was the highlight. As delicious as it was beautiful. The honeycrisp apple spiral for dessert was also outstanding. A dish I'd come back for. The foie gras terrine was a fascinating combo of flavors. I can't say I loved it, but I'm glad I tried it. It was memorable! The roasted Scottish cod and the steamed black bass were both good. But I've had better seafood at his other restaurants, and I'd rather go to The Fulton to have fish. I wanted to love the scallop tartare, but the flavor was underwhelming. The dark chocolate mousse was similar; it was good, but not excellent. The olive oil washed martini was outstanding. I didn't love the bergamot margarita.

Yelp
I had a reservation for a birthday dinner at Four Twenty Five, a high-end restaurant by Jean Georges. The place is stunning, with a warm and spacious atmosphere, elegant decor, and opulent furnishings. It's definitely a place to dress up and impress. However, I was not impressed by the long wait we had to endure before being seated. We arrived on time, but we had to wait for 25 minutes past our reservation time, which was very off-putting. The waiter apologized and offered us an extra appetizer, which was a nice gesture, but still not enough to make up for the inconvenience. The bartender was great, though. He was attentive and friendly, and made us some delicious cocktails while we waited. The food was mostly excellent, with some standout dishes. The octopus and squid appetizer was tender and flavorful, and the uni spaghetti was a revelation. The pasta was cooked to a perfect al dente, and the sauce was creamy and lemony, with the rich and buttery taste of the uni. I liked this dish more than the main course, to be honest. The main course was also very good, but not as memorable. I had the steamed black bass, which was cooked well and had a nice sauce. My partner had the wagyu beef tenderloin, which was also delicious and tender. The only thing I would suggest is to add more side dishes to the menu, because the main courses seemed a bit bare. The sauces and veggies were well prepared, but not enough to fill us up. We were pleasantly surprised by the little treats we got from the kitchen throughout the meal, such as bread, and amuse-bouche. They were a nice touch of hospitality and added some variety to the meal. For desert we had the honeycrisp apple spiral, which was outstanding. It was a beautiful and delicious creation, with layers of thin apple slices, caramel, and pastry. It was a dish I would come back for, for sure. We also had the chestnut cream cake, which was just okay, not special The staff also brought us a little cheesecake cake for the birthday celebration, which was very sweet of them. The service was top-notch throughout the night, and the staff was the highlight of the night. They were friendly, attentive, professional, and courteous. They made us feel very welcome and pampered. Overall, I would give Four Twenty Five four stars out of five. The food was delicious, but not remarkable, and I expected more from a Jean Georges restaurant. The space was amazing, and the service was exceptional. I would recommend it for a special occasion, but be prepared to wait and pay a premium.

Yelp
This is a wonderful place with a solid vegetarian variety. The celeriac dish, asparagus and broccoli were particularly tasty. The mustard in the asparagus adds a nice kick. The service is really on point - friendly and thoughtful. The space is done up really nicely. Excellent experience overall for a sophisticated lunch.

Yelp
Came here last night and had a bunch of appetizers. The ravioli, fluke tar tar, asparagus and octopus were all great, but I thought the beef tar tar was the best item. It had a spice to it form the chili flakes which was great. Awesome venue - huge windows and high xeilings. Would hope to come back soon

Yelp
My wife and I dined here this past weekend. We both had the tasting menu. From the tuna tartare, to the beet salad with mint, to the beef and broccolini, to the warm pear dessert with ginger ice creme, the meal was exquisite and perfectly paced. The service was warm and the ambiance of the dining room was amazing. We will be back.

Yelp
Most Jean George menus have become predictable. Maybe a little different at each. Had dinner at the bar and it was one of the best meals I have had. The bartenders were all friendly and helpful. The cocktails were excellent and many food selections on the menu. All were excellent- the pastas, the lobster, the desserts. No bad choices in a beautiful room. Couldn't ask for much more. Oh, the food was a little delayed coming but who cares when you are drinking a wonderful glass of wine with great bread. This is the best!

Yelp
Four Twenty Five by Jean Georges has finally opened. Originally the restaurant was going to be Four Twenty Five by Daniel Humm but Chef Humm wanted to do a strictly vegan restaurant, same as Eleven Madison Park. The owners said no and brought in Jean Georges. Although Jean Georges' name is on the restaurant, Jonathan Benno is the actual chef. As a consequence the food is not what you would expect from Jean Georges. The food is not as good as the amazing space and the attentive service. At a Jean Georges restaurant you expect a depth and variety of flavors that is missing at Four Twenty Five.

Yelp
Food is just mediocre, chef Jean missed this time. If I come to pay $400 for two people, the food should be above and beyond. Sea bass I give 5 out of 10 Octopus is a fail Hamachi is meh Dessert is ok but extremely over priced. Two star because of the service was efficient.

Yelp
Came here to celebrate my partners birthday and a special night out. Upon first impression the host and waiting staff were very friendly and welcoming! Everything that we ordered was delicious, the Octopus and squid definitely stood out and would highly recommend! It was the perfect combination of spicy and flavorful! The Wagyu beef tenderloin was also delicious and another great recommendation! I will try to visit again for another date night or special occasion with friends! We were one of the youngest people in the room, but the wait staff did a really great job to make us feel welcomed, service is very important thing for me when dining anywhere.

Yelp
Elegant dining room. Classic French fare with modern touches. The FOIE GRAS TERRINE was perfection. As was the SEARED WAGYU BEEF TENDERLOIN. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the seared DUCK BREAST. We shared the STRAWBERRY VACHERIN dessert. Exquisite! Next time we plan on trying the interesting tasting menu.

Yelp
Great bar service. Tuna tartare is delicious at the bar as a food option if you're not having dinner & just need a bite.

Yelp
Beautiful space, great service and the food was delicious. I had the beet salad and the duck. Both were perfect. Highly recommend!

Yelp
1 hour waiting for our table and nothing happens. We got a notification to confirm reservation. We did. We got notification to be there on time. We did. Unbelievable. Worst experience ever.

Yelp
Excellence all around! We just celebrated my husband's birthday here. We've been long time fans of Jean Georges and were excited to try his new restaurant. I confess I wasn't sure what to expect due to mixed yelp reviews , but we were not disappointed. From the moment we were greeted to the sad moment of leaving this oasis of peace, style, and culinary wonder, we felt welcomed and transported to beautiful haven away from the bustle of city life free to enjoy the meticulously crafted dishes and each other's company. While there were no other children in sight, the attentive staff made sure our 12 year old son felt welcomed and even was able to encourage him to try food he's not previously had. Hats off to Brooke who was incredibly gracious & attentive. She had such wonderful recommendations and shared the fascinating history of the building and how this restaurant came to be. A round of applause to Jonathan Benno and his team. The food is beyond excellent!! The breads and even the butter just so special, amuse-bouche of corn fritters were a delectable start. My husband absolutely loved the octopus and sea bass. my son and I had the pea soup and it was incredibly flavorful - I heard my son say 'mmmm!' and I wholeheartedly agree. We were incredulous our son tried the urchin spaghetti- while he didn't like the urchin piece itself, he devoured the pasta that was sprinkled with urchin. The halibut was amazing! Flaky soft and so delectable. We loved the mocktails - raspberry lychee spritzer cherry uzu spritzer & ginger lime drink. And the dessert!!! They brought out a special olive oil cake just for my husband's birthday...we had ordered the caramel custard and the some complementary tarts- all just fabulous! The dining room is so beautifully designed and we thoroughly enjoyed the view of the kitchen that seemed so orderly and clean at its helm the calm Mr. Benno. We left feeling rejuvenated by this otherworldly evening! THANK YOU to the incredible team at 425 Park. We would love any excuse to return. HIGHLY recommended!!!

Yelp
The room and ambiance are beautiful, classic, glamorous. The restaurant holds 89 seats in an uncrowded fashion. The service was good, but honestly not up to the expectation of a Jean-Georges restaurant. The sommelier was outstanding. Friendly, professional and knowledgeable. The lead server was good but did seem to disappear for awhile. We shared our feedback about the food with both the server and the sommelier and they both seemed genuinely interested in what we were saying. 1. The menu (1): (see photo) It had three glaring typographical errors and the same word is spelled two different ways. How does a Jean-Georges restaurant misspell "prix fixe"? PRE-FIXED! We joked that "pre-fixed" meant that all the food was prepared in advanced, frozen and then microwaved for serving. The som did say some of the typos were noticed before service. I would've run to Kinko's with a corrected menu and done a reprint. This lack of detail flowed through to the meal itself. 2. The menu (2): It was an "interesting" decision to have all the options in the second course include seafood. No one understood why this would be done. It's limiting to some guests. 3. The food: If there was seasoning on a dish it was applied very heavy-handedly. With the steamed black bass, the fish was prepared perfectly but the flavor was lost as it was in an overly acidic broth. The wagyu beef ... the meat was perfect but the crust was a salt lick. The same for the duck ... the protein was perfect only to be marred by the sauce. The veal chop was the winner of the night. Generally the food, like the menu itself showed a lack of attention to detail. Matthew Schneier of New York Magazine compared Four Twenty-Five with the Grill Restaurant. I ate at the Grill the night before and, based on my experience at Four Twenty-Five, there is no comparison.

Yelp
Everything was quite good from the food, to the atmosphere to the service. We liked the foie gras, to the sea bass, and wonderful bread. The butter potato ravioli but was a little over the top with carbs and fat. A nice cheese filling or anything else would have been better. The mango pineapple dessert was refreshing and pretty perfect. The service was top notch, and the room was extraordinary.

Yelp
Having experienced numerous high end and starred eateries, we were excited to explore Jean Georges latest, modern dining experience. The entrance is in the doorway foyer, behind a non-descript entryway without a sign. (Not sure why they can't make it more obvious). The space itself is pretty with a cozy, NYC vibe. They start you at the bar, downstairs, where they have a well curated cocktail and wine collection. Upstairs is the dining area, with piano jazz playing overhead and a professional staff ready to serve. All of the dishes we had were excellent. Sweet pea soup was just a breath of fresh, summer airs. Delicious. Corn agnolotti was a pasta and truffle treat for our tastebuds. Perfectly made. For mains, we had the duck and veal chop; veal was above average, but beaten soundly by the duck. The duck was perfectly cooked and richly flavored. We all voted the duck as the number one dish of the night. The veal was covered in greens and salad items, which wasn't the best combination. It was also a bit too fatty for my palate. We added the mashed potatoes which were heavenly; creamy and whipped and the choicest accompaniment for meat (although again maybe a bit too much butter floating on top). Pistachio coated broccoli was very unique and tasty, but perhaps on a pool of too much butter; a bit less would have enhanced the dish. Friendly and knowledgeable service, along with very good dishes - some of which could use a bit of tightening up - made this an enjoyable and classy dining experience.

Yelp
While I haven't had the pleasure of dining here, I enjoyed a few after-market margaritas at the bar on a Thursday. The bartenders lacked sophistication and one in particular had a dismal disposition. Bored with her role and lacking in the lightness you would expect to feel given the front of the house warmth you would expect to feel before entering a Jean George dining room. Grade D.

Yelp
First class dining experience. Gracious welcome by reception was appreciated --- many NYC restaurants seem to have forgotten how to greet their patrons upon arrival. The space is absolutely gorgeous and the food was some of the best I have had in the city recently. Order the chicken! Seriously it was simply unbelievably good. Not what I would usually order in this sort of restaurant but table next to us did and it looked so good I followed suit. Was the right choice. Sommelier was extremely helpful and knew his wine. We ended up with an Italian white that fully complemented our meal. Service was excellent and we were well taken care of.

Rebecca K.

Yelp
Terrible service for corporate clients - would not recommend. Ambiance was good but food was just okay - staff very difficult to communicate with and irresponsible with requests that they said they would fulfill.

Matthew G B.

Yelp
Incredible lunch menu. I had the spaghetti, which was so savory and rich with umami. Service was a little slow, but it was a busy lunch. Restaurant is well-lit, but good luck finding the door; it is hidden off to the side of the building lobby.

Lydia S.

Yelp
A lovely, stylish atmosphere, but a food disappointment in that nothing is memorable of what we tasted. We were really looking forward to having fresh white truffles on a pasta dish, as in other elegant restaurants in NYC and in Italy in past years. However, for $125 per serving, we received no more than 10 tiny slices that we could hardly taste, and the truffles did not appear first-quality fresh. Not only that, but the sommelier recommended a white burgundy wine (as we requested) at $300 that we found at another nearby restaurant for $75. Also not at all memorable wine. This was a week ago, and we can hardly remember the food, though the bill was close to $800 for two persons. We enjoy very fine, and commesurately expensive restaurants that leave us with something to remember in their taste experiences. It appears that the Jean-Georges chains cannot meet such expectations, so we will avoid all Jean-Georges restaurants in the future

Justine T.

Yelp
What a bizarre evening! After easily booking an 8:30pm reservation earlier today, I arrived at the restaurant at 7:50, noting that my guest would arrive shortly. The host staff person said they would seat us when my guest arrived. My guest arrived by 8:15. Starting at 8:36 we queried our reservation, as others were seated. We asked two more times and then walked out at 9:05. Nobody tried to stop us. I have never experienced this before. But I gotta say I am kinda okay with this outcome. The restaurant has a "douchy finance bro" vibe, with lots of those young men littering the bar. Definitely learned a lesson - don't do Jean-Georges again. Ick.

Jillian C.

Yelp
Have to give a shoutout to the wonderful hostess, Alexandra! Had an annoying reservation request and she couldn't have been more accomodating & made sure to give me a call back to confirm we were all set. Looking forward to bringing our clients here in a few weeks!

Solomon G.

Yelp
Very nice experience. Food was excellent. Service above and beyond and the room is like the Pool Room at the old Four Seasons. Jean Georges checked in on our meal which was a nice touch. Nice staff, great room, great food. This will do well. Reasonable price points for the quality.

Bob D.

Yelp
I just read something about this place and realized that I meant to review it when I was there when it first opened. Since I loved Jean-Georges' original restaurant, I try all his new ones. None lived up to his original, and the last one was particularly forgettable. This one was good, but nothing special, until the main course, black sea bass, which was extraordinary. There was also a charming, beautiful young woman from Brazil...or was it Argentina? I'm not sure what her job was; but when she came over to chat, she made the meal even more memorable. She should manage his next place!

Caroline K.

Yelp
Service was impeccable. The food was delicious - we did the tasting menu which is extremely well priced for the quality and amount.

Catalina G.

Yelp
The food was delicious. Amazing experience with a great service from Davin G. I loved the pear dessert.
