45 North Vineyard & Winery

We had a great stop here on our tour of wineries in the region. They are dog friendly and brought our pup a biscuit while we enjoyed our wines. This area was quiet and secluded and had a great coveted patio region as well as corn hole, bocce ball, and a fire pit. We had a great time!

Really nice people and helpful . They have a 3 glass tasting and a 5 glass tasting. The presentation of the 5 glass tasting is amazing. We have been there 4 times this year.

Visited 45 North for my best friend’s bachelorette. Naomi and Ruth… you made our whole day! Thank you for being so welcoming and for the detailed explanations of the wines (which were delicious). We enjoyed our flights (especially with the sparkling peach), the yard games and the service! We will be back.

My experience was OK. Not great or very memorable, but not bad by any means. It was very busy in the middle of the week in mid-October. Waited in line about 10 mins to order a sample flight. Wines were OK… Definitely on the drier side. Did a 3 glass tasting because I had a hard time deciding on 5. There was really only 1 out of 3 that I would consider purchasing a bottle of to take home. Nothing really wowed me. Staff was nice but not engaging, probably because they were busy. Very cool modern-rustic barn venue but very cramped seating, especially near the bar. The upstairs loft does help alleviate some congestion downstairs. Loved the couch near the fireplace and the self-serve water station. The outdoor area looked very nice and roomy. Overall, I would return, but this winery is not at the top of my favorites list for the area. I’d give them another chance, perhaps when less busy.

Hands down my favorite winery in the Leelanau Peninsula!! Friendly and relaxed vibe along with great wines!! An awesome spot to celebrate an anniversary or birthday or just to sit on one of the decks and just enjoy a glass of wine!! Beautiful!!

We chose, in part, to get married at 45N, because we’ve never had a bad wine there. Also, it’s absolutely beautiful. The staff at 45N was so helpful through the planning and the day itself, especially Kate. We couldn’t be happier to celebrate at 45N.

To the woman driving the golf cart around on Friday 10/17 that stopped because the lighting was so perfect and offered to take a photo of our little family, THANK YOU! You absolutely made our day with this small gesture. Truly a special place with great seating areas outside, fire pits, food and great wine. We could have spent many more hours here

We visited here and were gravely disappointed. The sidewalks were not shoveled. The service was nearly non-existent. We had to ask for the staff to come visit our table. As I payed for my $25 tasting fee (which is the most expensive of all the wineries we’ve visited in Leelanau) I asked why the dry Rieseling tasted the way it did, the staff informed me that “it has ether and vinegar notes” because it’s 4 years old! It was far from drinkable. Would not recommend.

For our 2022 Traverse City (TC) trip we decided to visit all new wineries and not just go to our usual favorites. We are so glad that we did because we found this winery which is absolutely amazing. The space is very rustic and the staff are very friendly. They have lots of hiking trails through the vineyard, and family friendly things to do like frisbee golf, and bocce ball. Also have picturesque barrels sitting right on the 45th parallel. I ordered a wine flight, and absolutely loved everything i drank. I found that 45 north wine is probably one of my favorite in the area. I will definitely be joining their wine club. I usually find that whites are amazing in TC and reds are just ok, but I loved the reds at 45north. Overall, this was such a wonderful experience. The winery was beautiful, the wine was spectacular, and the service was superb. A must go if you're visiting the area.

Love this winery! Beautiful setting, great wine! I went with a few friends and it was a beautiful day to sit outside and enjoy some appetizers and wine tasting. Highly recommended

We loved this Vineyard. We were on our way to a different place and stumbled upon it. Ended up finding my new favorite white wine (highly recommended 45 White!) and bought a case to bring home.

Lovely winery! Delightful place to visit for flights of wines, to walk through the rows of grapes, and lots of seating outside in both sun and shade. The indoor area is beautiful as well with pretty wood and a large tasting and ordering bar. Best of all, I really liked the wine, too! Each pallet is different so highly recommend tasting multiple wines and finding out what you like.

It's gorgeous - it had me at hello. Not all wineries roads have picturesque landscapes of grapes in rolling hills set up like a painting. This one does. As soon as you turn in. Approaching the main house, there's the scent of wine in the air subtle but distinct. There's no more wine tasting. Instead you wait to be seated outdoors, then order flights of wine. I believe this is more elegant, as opposed to standing at edge of the bar fighting for space with everyone else. We strolled the vine yard for our wait and thoroughly enjoyed it. The wines itself was just OK. That doesn't take away from the experience and the staff was just great. I would definitely recommend a visit.

Like 3.5/5 but I'll round up to 4. This was the 3rd winery we hit up yesterday, when we were "wining" (ha) on the Peninsula. My friends and I did the flight, I believe it was $7 for 5 pours. Everything I tried was tasty but nothing really stood out, although the Sparkling Peach wine was pretty good. Another friend got some of their Frose and really liked it. Customer service was ... okay. They were really busy so I think that's why, but we had to stand over by the bar before anyone really acknowledged us, and one of the counter people came over to another group of ladies that had arrived after us, before another counter lady came over to us. If you check in on Yelp you can get $1 off a glass of wine, and the counter lady even let me use that on the flight, which was nice of her. The atmosphere definitely bumps them up to my 4-star rating because it was pretty nice, with lots of areas to sit outside, and even some bocce ball courts and cornhole set up, too. I'd maybe come here again but I might also see what else is in the area first, too.

45 North Vineyard & Winery is a great place to have fun, relax, and drink wine. There were several wines that I liked but my favorite drink was the Frose slushy - if you mix the 2 flavors together it's basically a frozen applesauce, delicious - thank you Spencer! Our waitress, Jenny, was amazing and very personable. She took the time to make wine recommendations and packed up a delicious charcuterie box for us to eat. I can't wait to comeback up next summer!

A friend asked me if I remembered the movie with Dax Shepard where they make toilet wine. I did, and it was an accurate comparison. Not a single wine was appetizing and most were overly sweet and so on the nose I wondered if they washed the glasses with rubbing alcohol. Service was a mess with half our group getting our orders and the others left waiting and wondering. No view, no dry wines, and overcrowded. Avoid it.

We met another couple and reserved an igloo! Perfectly warm and inviting. The staff was very attentive and very professional! We each did a flight and enjoyed some snacks. The 45 White is my favorite with the Non Oak Chardonnay as my next favorite. Stick with the whites! We can't wait to come back in the summer!

This was our third stop along our Uncorked Wine tour of the Leelanau peninsula. I wasn't sure if we were able to get in since their website said the wouldn't be able to take any more reservations for today. Fortunately for us we were able to do a walk in seating for our tastings. We didn't have to wait long for a table which was surprising because nearly every table outside was full. Our server was very busy, but she was able to stop by our table pretty frequently and was able to bring our drinks out in a short amount of time. My husband and I each got our own wine flights and decided to share the 6 wines between us. We each got one white and two reds. Our wines were good, had good flavoring to them. We didn't check the bottle prices but knew that there wasn't anything that we needed to take home. But what we really enjoyed was being able to sit outside on a beautiful day in a beautiful spot and enjoying the moment. This would be a great spot to come to for a nice introduction to northern Michigan wines.

What a gorgeous fall sunny day to try out 45! They had a wide variety of white and red wine selections. We especially loved the peach sparkling wine, the SPG bubbly wine and the merlot. It's a cute little space for a winery. Don't worry about COVID, they require face masks and have hand sanitizer and socially distanced tables for you to enjoy the wine and atmosphere. If you are a little cold, you will enjoy the heaters in the tent.

Great place to visit and drink. Love this place. Ben was our server and was very nice. Place is very dog & kid friendly. Large covered area outside. Their flight tasting of 3 wines is $10 which is average for the area. Nice and clean inside. We ended up taking home a couple of bottles home.

This place was really cute. No need for reservations which was nice. Tried a flight of wine which was 10 bucks. The ambiance is great. There was live music outside near the vineyards. Staff was very helpful and informative. They also had small bits of chocolate when u asked to pair with one of the wines.

This place is gorgeous! My cousin had his wedding here. The ceremony was out in the vineyard, and the reception under a tent next to the wine tasting room. It was catered (the food was ok), but we were served the vineyard's wine throughout the whole event. They served a red blend, a white blend, and a peach sparkling (like a Bellini). The white and peach were too sweet for me, but I enjoyed the red all night.

When you go to a vineyard I feel that you are looking primarily for the experience and atmosphere of being there and the actual quality of the wine is secondary. One the former, 45 North is exquisite. Nice wine bar indoors, and several comfortable tables outside for groups. There are also a variety of yard games to engage in. Theres some disc golf (albeit very tame), bocce, cornhole, etc. Overall, a great place to hang out. On the latter, the quality of the wine is above average. I would be very content to order any of the wines in their selection. They also had flights available, which is wildly popular these days. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here. There are so many pleasant vineyards in this area, and this is clearly one of them.

Beautiful vineyard and delicious wines. Enjoyed a wonderfully delicious charcuterie box. Even bought a super soft T-shirt. The staff was so helpful and nice. Ben took great care of us. Felt safe with the covid restrictions. It is always a must stop when wine tasting in Michigan

I'm struggling with the 3 star or 4 star rating...but I'm feeling nice today - so 4 STARS! *you get a star, you get a star, everyone gets a star* We came in on a December weekday (between Xmas and New Years) and this place was surprisingly busy...like there were only 2-3 seats available at the bar. The wines were..."fine". I am a traditional dry red wine drinker which isn't quite what northern Michigan wines are, but I love some acidic dry whites. There was one wine that I truly enjoyed - I think it was the reserve riesling, but I can't seem to find it anymore on their website. Anyways, traditional belly-up to a bar tasting. Pay $5 for 4 tastes (or something like that). Read through the other reviews or website to get a better status on price. But, I want to give you a few tips! Order a glass - they appear to be super heavy pourers and the glass prices are quite modest. Try the ice wine - it was probably the best I've had...like really good. And considering a half bottle sells for almost $100, a $2 taste is a steal.

Amazing atmosphere! You get five tastings for $7 and additional tastings are $1 apiece. The atmosphere is very relaxed. There's plenty of space to sit outside and they have a few outdoor games as well. It was really busy so the customer service wasn't the best but the staff seemed very knowledgeable. I tried the house white, the 45 cider, the sparkling peach, the sparkling strawberry, and another that obviously didn't stick out to me that much. I wasn't impressed with the house white, but the 45 cider was very refreshing. I feel like it would be perfect for a day on the beach. I bought a bottle of the sparkling strawberry. I was really impressed with the flavor. They didn't have the Friesling and I was disappointed. Overall, a great place to sit back and chill with a glass

The only thing this place really has going for it is that the venue is cute. They have a great patio and offer cornhole and bocci to play which is fun. However, none of the wines were good, the tasting was kind of expensive, you don't get much, and our sommelier rushed us through the whole experience. My whole group was disappointed in her lack of personality and that she didn't explain or talk about any of the wine we tasted. It was like she was waiting for us to finish the next one so she could be done with us. I would skip this winery if it is on your list.

Walking in felt like I was walking into a super cute rustic chic barn with all the exposed wood! We did a wine tasting of course and the server was friendly and very informative! They had frosé which was a nice touch/add-on! All around great experience with lots of outside activities!

Beautiful winery and grounds. I would have enjoyed it much more had there not been a yapping fellow wine taster sitting next to me monopolizing all of the server's time trying his best to prove he knows more about wine than anybody...what an ass----he just droned on and on. The wines were very good and they have some cider too. My favorite was the outlaw. My husband's favorite wine of the day was from here . It was called Marsanne. 5.00 for a tasting of 5 wines.

This review is a little shaded by the fact that I rolled up on a rainy Saturday and the indoor space was *packed.* We literally stood around for 15-20 minutes, waiting for some space to open up by the bar. Many other wineries I visited around Traverse City had multiple tasting stations, but 45 North just has one bar and there were about 50-60 people trying to shove their way up. On the plus side, you get three free tastes. Many other TC wineries will charge you. Unfortunately, I wasn't very impressed with their wines. Maybe I selected some bad ones. The place has a strange cowboy theme, with large, goofy horse sculptures and kitschy bar stools that are made from saddles. Maybe this place is more accommodating to visitors in warmer weather, when I'm told they have lawn games and such. But based on my visit, I was disappointed and looked forward to leaving the mob and the kitsch behind.

My wife and I have been going to this area for the wine for some time. When 45 North opened, it was an exciting experience, and the people were so nice and friendly. There used to be a big black Newfoundland dog that would hang around and looked like a bear rug on the floor. Friendly and laid back tastings...well many years later the charm of the place has sadly gone. The last few years is the same experience, too busy, crowded, and the tasting is rushed and absolutely no info about the wine. Maybe they are a victim of their own popularity and the bustling atmosphere is too much for the people providing the tasting. But than again, so are most of the Starbucks I go to and the people are always friendly and helpful. We will be skipping this stop next year for some of the more friendly tasting rooms. The wine has been about the same over the years, very consistent for both reds and whites. They were one of the first to have a decent red wine, but you pay for it at almost 40.00 dollars a bottle. For us, the cost was not really worth it, now that other growers are producing a lot better red wine in Michigan.

Mmm, fine wine and a good time. What more can I say? We stumbled upon this place while exploring the area, and what a view this winery has! From the upstairs (which looks great for parties) to the open floor plan of the first floor AND the outside deck (sadly we went in the winter, so that was a no-go, but that only means we have to come back in the summer now!) The wine tasting was laid-back, and we didn't feel rushed, ya girl even ordered glass of her favorite wine afterwards. This place is such a sweet fine with a great offering of wines and ciders.

If I could give 0 stars I would. There's a lot of hype around this place, and for no reason. The hostess guided us to the inside bar for a tasting. We were then ignored by a slow server Paul, who went on to pour flights for outside tables. Next his co-worker, and possibly the Manager, comes over and tells us she's too busy to pour us a flight and to go outside and get a table. There are only 4 other patrons seated at the bar inside, a large room that is basically empty. We've visited vineyards and tasting rooms all over; CA, OR, WA, Europe. These people were so impolite, we had to laugh about how they think there's such a great product here that they can treat people like garbage. We didn't taste the wine, but I'm sure it's not as good as Blustone vineyards, which is right up the road. Beautiful place, and the Blustone folks were fantastic, and so was their wine!

The vineyard is nice with rolling hills and what makes this place different is the sit down seating. They have a nice outdoor seating area. 4 stars because staff wasn't very professional and they didn't seem ready for summer. I've had better wines before too. And $15 for a flight of three 3oz pours makes me want to go to another place next time.

Staff was very friendly.. Wines were good.. I bought the savingnon blanc. There was yard games and root beer for the kids.

I am going to attempt to review each of the nearly 40 wineries in the Grand Traverse area. In an effort to remain as objective as possible, I will be reviewing the wineries based on how well they live up to their vision of winemaking. When I started doing these reviews, I knew that there would be a few I had to come back to in order to properly write a review. 45 North was on that list and am I glad it was. For whatever reason I remember 45 as being on the sweet side. i have a feeling this was very wrong (perhaps because of too much wine). The wines are definitely on the dry side. They tend to be pretty varied, some of the whites see oak, many do not. I liked the Chenin Blanc, though it was not from Leelanau, and the Dry Riesling and Sauv Blanc enough to buy. However they were far from the best up here, especially for the price, which was on the high side. The reds were overpriced, forgettable, or both. I was actually delightfully surprised with the sparkling strawberry, which is quite sweet, but definitely has its time and place. Perhaps the best fruit wine I have tasted in awhile. The grounds are very pretty, and can accommodate large parties better than most. Their tasting room staff is pretty good and can answer most questions about the wine. I would recommend if you have a large group or if you are into dry/semi-dry whites.

Really nice venue and tasting room. Vines all around. Have a wedding here, no doubt it'd be memorable. I was here to assist as a course marshal with a bike race (for our local habitat for humanity as I have a friend who works for them). It was buggy and starting to sprinkle when I was finishing, around 11:30am on Sunday. But, gorgeous trails and Meadows. Pretty serious hills for the cyclists, there were beginning, sport/elite, and children's routes. The trails are open for hikers, probably during business hours, definitely stop by and reward self with a tasting afterwards, and maybe pick up a map as WiFi is slow/spotty out on the trails though that might be the point. Disconnect, unwind, enjoy this gorgeous place where we live. Plus, there's an amazeballs bakery/ farm market down the road (9 bean rows) croissant and pastry and delicious artisan breads. OMG, don't miss it unless you're gluten free, in which case, my sincere apologies.

Three bottles of peach cremante for the *road? Don't mind if we do. They specialize in their sparkling fruit wines, so for your next brunch mix up a bottle with some fresh juice and you'll be the life of the party. Oh, and they have winery dogs wandering around..which I always love. Peaches! *and by "road" I mean, to take back to our home in Chicago, closed. No drunk driving...hire a driver or a shuttle. The cops out here hunt winery revelers like orange-suited man track deer. You've been warned!

My girlfriend and I loved this place, I'm a dry wine person and she is a sweet. We both loved the strawberry sparking wine. Ben was a great host for us, will be returning. Tastings are 5 for $7 and $1 for additional but thanks for the holiday season they were more than generous.

Setting- Beautiful; COVID Adaptations- great. Service and tasting experience- terrible. Party of 2. We went in mid-October, and while it was fairly busy, staff didn't seemed to be overwhelmed. The hostess was extremely welcoming, and after waiting a few minutes for our socially-distanced table, we were seated for our tasting. The first thing our server told us after handing us the menu (an a la carte menu to build a tasting flight) was "it's late season, these are the wines we have left." Then walked away. No guidance, no info about the vineyard, the wines, or anything else. Totally impersonal, basically like going to any bar. The flight was $15 for three selections- and basically the equivalent of a half-glass of wine put together. Three sips per glass, not an exaggeration. The price of their most expensive FULL-glass was $12-15, so already felt like a bit of a rip off. Our server dropped them on the table and left without telling us which wines were which, or any other info. The wine varied, obviously a personal preference. However, the Pinot gris we were served was WAY over-aerated (like the bottle had sat out all day, open). We brought this up to our server, and she basically said "sorry. You know, its a Saturday." What?!? The next time we saw our server was when she dropped the check on the table. We left a good tip out of COVID obligation only, absolutely nothing about this experience justified a tip. Overall, really sad experience. We've only heard good things about 45 North, but their mid-fall experience was just depressing, overpriced, and uninspired.

It was $7 to taste and the pours were so small you barely had a taste of the wine. The servers were also not friendly. The wine was good. But with all the wineries around, not worth your time.

This was the worst experience of any winery in northern Michigan that I've ever had. The service was terrible and they treated us like garbage. I went to pay for my tasting and the woman who took my money through me back my change. I would not recommend wasting your time here.

Well we're past the wedding and giving an upgrade here! We could not have been more pleased with our choice to serve Forty-Five North at our wedding! All our guests raved about the selections and really enjoyed the pairings Channing helped pick out.

Super fun!! We stopped here on a wine tour and had a private wine tasting in the loft above. Matthew was generous with the pours, funny, and not too uptight/ snobby like some other employees and wineries. Walked out with a nice bottle. :) A fun little stop!

This place is SO COOL! The staff was very friendly and nice to talk with as you're sampling. We loved so many of the wines and they even had amazing ciders! I would recommend this winery to everyone!

Best winery on the peninsula! We make a point to visit every time we're in the area. The peach cremant is amazing, as is the strawberry when it is available. Really looking forward to enjoying the bottle of Northport we purchased when the air is crisp! Special thanks to Kirsten who took care of my family - she was fantastic!

We did the charteuterie & the fruit wine flights & bites. The savory shortbread cookies (especially the honey-vanilla) and the cheese/meats/crackers were the perfect pairing of a midday snack. We took home a bottle of the strawberry wine.

They had a vast variety of options! Pretty vineyard outside. Order from Matthew, he's personable and extra helpful

As my Headline says, "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery". How does that pertain to this review you might be asking yourself?! Well, if I had a winery I would want it to be just like Forty-Five North Vineyards. If you haven't found yourself here before, the best way I can describe it is Rustic Chic. If you have found yourself here before, you are likely to agree with my Rustic Chic description. Its just plain ole' pretty. As for the wine, saddle up and grab yourself a glass of peach cremante. Its fabulous! Several of the other bottles are good as well, but the peach cremante is love! A few other things: * You can get married here! We were there on a wedding day and it was spectacular. * Dogs! The owners and some of the bar staff bring in their pets for a more homey feel. * That's about as much as I can remember.......so it must be good!

My wife and her friend had a great experience here. I was the DD and had a sampling of the Northport bourbony dessert wine. It was so good. My wife liked the Strawberry wine and had a glass of the 45 bubbly. They were very friendly and knowledgeable.

This place is a little off the beaten path and quite a bit up the Leelanau peninsula, but it's worth the trip. Came in here on Saturday for the first time. Can't recall ever trying their wine before, but my fiancée and I thought they had the best overall wines that we've tried at any place in the Grand Traverse area. Generally, when you're doing a wine tasting, you kind of have that, "This one's good, this one sucks, good, sucks..." thing going on. At 45 North, it was probably the first place that I've been to where I actually liked all of the wines and ciders that we tried. I liked it so much that I joined their wine club. I'm not a wine club kind of guy, but I guess I am now. The girl that helped us was super friendly and personable. The only thing I didn't like was that I had to fill out a piece of paper with all of my CC info on it to sign up for the wine club. Generally do not like having that info lying around on something with any sort of permanence.

We were disappointed. We were stopping at wineries to build our collection and try some wines we don't often get at home. I think we were looking for something more adult and classy. When we walked in, the counter was busy. There was a couple drunkingly hanging all over each other. There were also children running around inside. I love kids, and going to family-friendly places, but I don't think wine tasting is somewhere you take young children and allow them to runaround unsupervised. It was just not the way we wanted to spend the afternoon, so we went somewhere else.

Great atmosphere and wine. Highly suggest the Dry Riesling as well as the unwooded Chardonnay. But don't leave without trying the peach cremant! Don't forget to say hello to the dogs.

Visited for the first time yesterday and will gladly go back! Beautiful setting for the fall day. We loved the hostess--when we learned there was a wait, we weren't sure we'd wait, but she made sure we knew our options, including to grab a glass at the outdoor bar while we waited, which was a very brief wait for a busy day. She also had no problem enforcing their mask rules, which we sincerely appreciated how seriously they were taking their COVID precautions. We got a bottle of the bubbly rosé, which was dry and delicious. Only part I didn't like was the small antipasto plate. It was a prepackaged fancy lunchable...some plating would be nice, but I don't come to wineries for the food anyway. All in all a great visit and hope to come back soon
