Yelp
Highly recommend their dim sum (weekends from 11am-3pm) which is one of the best I've had in the DMV area. In addition to SiChuan, they have delicious WuHan cuisine too. This is where the Chinese community and locals go. They have a big, modern interior with lots of tables, booths, and high ceilings. My favorites dim sum dishes that I tried were the Creamy Egg Yolk Baked Bun, Mi Jiu Tang (mochi ball soup), and Stir-Fried Rice Noodles with Beef. However I found all of their dishes to be tasty. If you're looking to try some WuHan classics, try the Dou Pi and Zha Jiang Mian. I enjoyed the dim sum at Q by Peter Chang better than the mass produced dim sum cart restaurants in Northern Virginia. Within the DMV, the best Chinese food is in Maryland (Rockville/Bethesda). The servers were good and they checked on us many times to ask if we would like to put in any additional orders since we got their all you can eat special. Then they bring it out to you when the dishes are ready to make for a more elegant dining experience.

Yelp
Went here with friends before a show at nearby Round House theater. Had seen mixed reviews but decided to try for convenience. It's a nice atmosphere and our waiter came quickly and often before we ordered. My husband got the Mapa tofu and my friend ordered the eggplant. Her husband got the shrimp fried rice and I got shrimp with asparagus and snow peas. The eggplant was the best and on the sweet side. The tofu was fairly bland and the tofu itself was soggy...it should be pan fried or sautéed before adding the sauce. Both the dishes had too much oil. My shrimp dish was very bland. I added some of the sauce from the vegetarian dishes to make it more palatable. We had to get another waiter's attention to get the bill, and then our waiter's attention to get to go containers. Overall it was ok...not sure I'd go again, unless it was right before a show (walking distance to theater).

Yelp
We expected an upscale version of PF Chang's. What we got was disappointing food at inflated prices. My wife and I shared their Honey Riblets, Lettice Wraps, and 1/2 of their Beijing (Peking) Duck. The riblets were fatty, sickeningly sweet, and too hot from having been just heated in a microwave. The wraps, usually a favorite of mine, were greasy and with only a hint of their expected flavor. The duck was flavorless and seemed like it had been cooked a long time before. Also annoying was the presentation. Typically, at this price point, we expect food to be described when it is delivered to our table. The runners they used couldn't even tell us which sauces were provided.

Yelp
solid Peter Chang restaurant out in Bethesda. Good menu, the peking duck is awesome, the large private rooms are great, service is alright. Everything I've had here is good

Yelp
We stopped by Q this past Saturday evening to celebrate our friend's birthday since we heard the duck here was the best in the DMV. The service was quick and attentive -- our server made sure we always had enough water. Food came out pretty quickly, too. SCALLION BUBBLE PANCAKE (葱油泡饼) - 6 The pancake was a huge bubble that had to be popped in order to be eaten. It was pretty thin with a chewier texture. The flavor reminded me of the colorful shrimp chips that you sometimes on Chinese dishes. Not a lot of scallions, though. Just a lot of pan-fried batter. The curry sauce on the side was pretty watery. I could have gone without it. CHANG'S PEKING DUCK WHOLE (北京烤鸭 - 全只) - 80 This is definitely what they're known for here. If you're down to splurge on a tasty duck, I'd recommend. A whole duck is a lot smaller than I thought, but the portion was plenty for the four of us. Each order comes with the duck, two sauces (hoisin sauce and this really watery beet sauce?), toppings like cucumbers and scallion whites and a steamer basket filled with crepe skin. The crepe skin was thin and chewy, and the duck wraps were delightful. The duck skin was thin and flavorful, almost like eating chips. The duck meat was perfectly cooked. I can see why this is one of the best ducks in the area. SNOW PEA TIPS W/ MINCED GARLIC (蒜蓉豆苗) - 26 There wasn't a big portion of snow peas, but it was well cooked and seasoned with lots of garlic. The texture of the snow peas were perfectly crunchy. I would definitely recommend this, but unsure if it's worth it for the price point. BEEF STIR FRIED WIDE NOODLE (牛炒河粉) - 19 Out of everything we ordered, this was probably the most disappointing. I feel like I can get stir fried wide noodles at basically any Chinese restaurant, and there was nothing special about the one here. I thought the flavor was pretty bland. There was a good amount of beef in each portion, but the overall portion size was small for the price. I wouldn't recommend this here. Overall, the food was quite good but expensive. If you want to splurge on a nice Chinese meal, particularly the duck, I'd recommend Q.

Yelp
Q started its AYCE dim sums on the weekend. It's $28 for adults and half price for kids aged 5-12. Kids under five eat for free! The dim sum menu had 35 items. Our party of six adults and four toddlers must have ate at least twenty different dim sum dishes. We thought the taste was, in general, pretty good. The price was amazing for what's given. Some dishes were better obviously. Here were some of our favorite dishes: #27 stir fried wide noodles with beef. The dish can easily be ruined with too much oil. But Q delivered with a manageable amount of oil. #1 soup pork dumplings. We all thought this was really good. The soup inside the bun mixed really well with the filling. #21 roast duck sandwich was special. It was a pineapple inspired bun with a slice of roasted duck inside. Every bite was a mix of the sweet and the savory. #13 triple layered doupi (bean curd skin). It's hard to describe this dish. It was just really good! Basically, there were rice and smoked meat beneath the bean curd skin. #35 pumpkin fritters. This was essentially pumpkin fries! It was great! The service was super slow. However, we will still go back for the weekend dim sum AYCE!

Yelp
I signed up for this dumpling making class with a friend and was extremely excited to meet Peter Chang. Is there anything better than learning how to make dumplings from one of the experts? Yes, it would be actually making dumplings with one of the experts. I and other's were a little upset to find out he did not show. Seeing that's the only reason why a lot of us signed up for the class because since it was stated he himself was going to be there. I even double checked the event details. First let down. We arrived early prior to the class and enjoyed some eats. This was the best part! I tried the flounder fish sour cabbage soup and is more on my must have list! I ended up visiting two other locations within that week and ordered it again because it was that good! Another honorable mention is the beef wide noodle. My friend ordered it and don't know if it was because it was someone else's food it was amazingly good or it was just great! I tried to figure that out but the other locations Columbia & Baltimore do not have it on their menu and none suggested making it fit me either. Go figure. . . Lol You know those dishes you order whenever you're close to that location, yup another one. The class wasn't arranged very well. The food we were making was left out and uncovered. People were asked to wash their hands before they were trash to cook so they became dirty again. It ended up being family style but all of the dumplings were come together so unless you designed/made/shaped/formed yours a specific way, you couldn't tell which you made. I was blessed, to have the vegetable ones and some noodles as my dish since I've taken pork out of my diet. I'd go back for the dishes I mentioned but not for the class.

Yelp
We stopped by Q for a birthday dinner and were surprised by how good the dishes were. My favorite was the Sweet & Sour Branzino - unbelievably prepared so that you can pick up little cubes of perfectly cooked fish with chopsticks. Thumbs up for the Peking Duck and the Seafood with Crispy Rice. Amazing. And the Golden Buns and Mango Pomelo Tapioca were perfect desserts to finish things off. Fun and adventurous, this is not your typical Chinese restaurant. The dishes are unique and inventive, and just plain delicious. Definitely worth trying, for a celebration or just to stop in and have a fun meal.

Yelp
Upscale Chinese dining serving food one doesn't ordinarily find in Chinese restaurants. Hubby & I ordered half a Peking Duck which was quite ample. Also ordered their spicy eggplant which one can order different grades of spiciness. Everything delish! My only problem is that the dishes didn't come out together. Also, my husband ordered dumplings for an appetizer, & I ordered the asparagus soup which came way after the dumplings. I was left watching him eat the dumplings while I waited. Then the soup came, and he had to sit & watch me.

Yelp
Happy Luna New Year. Celebrating @qbypeterchang I love Cultural Holidays, they help us connect to our neighbors and their heritage. Here's a glimpse into what we ate at our most recent visit to Peter Chang, renowned Asian Chef and restaurateur. Our Menu: Crispy Duck Rolls -- like egg roll but better as it's stuffed with duck meat Bubble Pancakes-- So unique and delicious Mixed Seafood with noodles -- really good with the noodles soaking in the sauce as it was underneath the seafood. Shrimp Fried Rice-- Some of the BEST fried rice I've had but I'll admit I'm a Peter Chang Fan. Lobster and noodles -- Large chunks of lobsters on beautiful green noodles. The noodle are for longevity. The food and drink are always amazing and phenomenally tasty at all of Peter Chang restaurants, and Q is his flagship restaurant. He and his staff provide an incredible and authentic experience in the f&b industry, that's inviting to both Asian and Non-Asian. If you haven't been, you MUST go.

Yelp
Dim Sum is about average. Most items come with 2 pieces so it's on the smaller side compared to other dim sum places. Service was fast on a busy Saturday. I do love the location and interior design of the place. The booth seats provide privacy and comfort.
google avatar

Dennis M.

Yelp
I go here every dang week. Hands down the best Chinese restaurant in town. Servers here are the best. Peter Chang's food is amazing, and now they got all you can eat dim sum on the weekends. To those who went on their first weekend of all you can eat dim sum, you guys should come back. Q has worked out the kinks and they got their operations running as smooth as a xiu mai dumpling sliding into a dipping tray of soy sauce.

Yelp
I have been back to Q twice in the last two months because I just love the flavor and creativity the dishes here! They have an updated menu, so there are new and exciting dishes to try. And one thing I really like about coming to Q is that the serving sizes are generous, so you are not going to go hungry here! We ordered the: Rosemary Beef Jerky - for those who love spicy Jade Duck Soup - the best soup I've ever had! Dragon eggplant with spicy garlic sauce Chang's Mini Lions Head (meatballs) - tender and full of flavor Rice Crust with Tomato Beef Tenderloin - very original dish! I love the crispy rice paired with the tomato beef and gravy! Whole Branzino (fish) - one of my favorites! They have four different sauces that you can opt for -- soy, original/ spicy, pickled peppers/ sweet-and-sour/ soy chili. I've had both the sweet and sour as well as the soy original, and my favorite was the soy original! The service was very cordial and courteous. The dining area has a sophisticated ambience with a dragon overhead, very cool to look at. There is the more open side of the dining room, and then a more cozy/secluded side of the restaurant. Both have booths, but I prefer the more secluded side. They also have a private dining room, if you want to have a party there. Parking is a short walk away. I usually park on the Montgomery Lane side, just before you reach Pearl Street. Or you can enter the garage on Waverly Street. Either way, it's a short walk, so just keep that in mind. I can't wait to go back there! Hope you enjoy!

Yelp
My family of 7 came in Saturday for the AYCE option. It has been 50 mins and we got one order of dragon dumpling (3 pieces), honey riblet (very small portion), and 3 orders of soup dumplings in which all 9 soup dumplings came broken. The staff is slow and lack experience. They brought the wrong orders to our table. When we asked for spoons, the staff let me know they ran out of spoons. They tried to kick us out at the 2 hr mark but we let them know we are still waiting for our food. After 2.5 hours, we never received our second order of soup dumplings after asking about it 4 times. My 9 year old niece is crying and might also leave a bad review.

Yelp
The food was fantastic as always went with my kids to celebrate a birthday. Well balanced the flavors. We had a great waitress who was quick and always made sure we had what we needed as we did order a lot of foods to try. We went later in evening around 8 which is closer to closing time. So it was quiet and enjoyed it more made it more of a personal experience.

Yelp
Our family went to Q by Peter Chang for the Dim Sum on the weekend before the Christmas holiday (12/22/2024), the restaurant was full, and we waited for about more than 30 minutes. Lesson learned is that for a good restaurant during the holiday season, we should book the reservation first, instead of walk-in. After we sat down, all the dishes were quick and high quality, even we saw still a lot of people on the waiting list, which surprised us, I thought we would wait longer for the serving dishes, but it was great that we didn't wait long for our orders. our family really enjoy the dim sum experience in Q by Peter Chang! Sorry I only took the pictures of my kids eating, not the dishes. In the future, I would just take the dish pictures. Laura

Yelp
Had dinner here with two friends from work. Service was fast. Very spacious and well lit interior. Food was very tasty. I had a bowl of the West Lake Asparagus Soup which was served quickly and just at the right temperature. It's light broth and crisp pieces of vegetables and tasty tofu slices was perfect for this chilly night. We ordered family style and had some leftover to take home. We started off with the Sichuan Chili Wonton and ordered the Stir Fried Wide Noodle with beef. We also had the Chicken with Mushrooms and the Eggplant with Spicy Garlic Sauce. All the dishes were very tasty.

Yelp
I am making my way to all the Peter Chang restaurants in the DMV. This visit to Q makes it my third location. We got the usual bubble pancake and I never cease to be amazed. I love the curry dipping sauce and we had to ask for more. They came back with a slightly larger container of the sauce than the initial offering! For our entrees we got the seafood curry in clay pot and the wagyu beef with asparagus. The seafood dish was also available at Mama Chang's in Virginia. Not all items are the same at each location which is why I like visiting the different ones. the wagyu beef was thinly sliced and very soft and tender. It was a excellent piece of meat. Few random notes: The restaurant has spacious seating. The air conditioning was on full blast. I really needed a sweater or jacket to keep from shivering. Attentive service. Parking within walking distance of a garage around the corner.

Yelp
I had never visited Q by Peter Chang, and since was temporarily staying at the AC Hotel Bethesda, I walked to this restaurant. The placement and location of Q is a little weird, since it is on the first floor of a business bulling, and there is practically nothing around it. The decor of their very big space inside is very minimalistic, with vaguely orientalized touches, like the huge lantern light fixtures and the trellis wood dividers that separate the main space. The cement floor and the functional but non-descript tables and chairs are mismatched. In a corner, there are piles of plastic cups and empty to go boxes, which contribute to the disjointed atmosphere. Elegant chopsticks in green and gold with embossed Peter Chang were beautiful. I was inmeditely greeted by a hostess, which brought me to a single table. This was during lunch time, but the place was not remotely packed, so why not seat me at a four-top? Another very pleasant server came to take my orders. I wanted to try their dim-sum items, and she pointed out to me where those were in the menu (which is extensive and focused on lesser-known Schezuan style cooking). I ordered a Tsingtao beer, which was served ice cold. Then came the food: the Schezuan shrimp dumplings were strangely chewy inside, but with a pleasant heat. The balloon scallion pancake was dramatic but did not have any discernable scallions other than one or two green specks and was served with a cold brown sauce that did not taste like anything in particular. I have eaten Schezuan style food many times, and I love those flavors (numbing and spicy, garlic, etc) but I wasn't impressed with these two dishes. I decided to order the crispy pork belly. What I got was a mound of deep fried, thinly sliced pork skins (not pork belly) dusted with spices. It was served with chunks of pinneaple straight out of a can, cold. I took a first bite and the pork skin was a salt bomb, making it basically inedible. When a server came by I asked for the dish to be taken. He graciously offered if I wanted something else, but I declined (the dish was taken out of my bill). The food was not great, not even passably good. The decor was disjointed, and leaving out large piles of plastic cups and to-go boxes in a corner did not positively contribute to an elegance or elevation that it seems the owners wanted to portray. The service was friendly and attentive, and I loved their elegant chopsticks; so that is why Q by Peter Chang gets 2* from me.

Yelp
The food was awful. Crispy pineapple chicken was gummy and flavorless. The wonton soup was way too salty and hot and sour soup was tasteless. The rice was the only acceptable part of our meal. I can't recall a more disappointing meal. We paid a premium for delivery. Never again.

Yelp
Stopped here on the way to DC. It was 3pm on a Saturday and not very busy, which was great because we were hungry. It was our first time here, and everything we ordered was amazing! The staff was very attentive. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Loved the interior and decor. Place was too cold for me personally. Service was alright. Average dim sum with kinda mid dishes. The sticky rice in the wrapper was strange and impossible to pick up without falling apart. Lost track of how much water I drank combating the saltiness of some of the dishes.

Yelp
Service good. Food good ambience good outdoor dining. Had a group of about 12 and we were treated well

Ryan K.

Yelp
We came here for dim sum on Saturday morning at 11. Not busy, yet the food comes out so slow. I had two dumpling in one hour within two hour limit. The soup dumplings are all broken. The restaurant either got our orders wrong or intentionally brought us a lot of buns and noodles to fill us up. This will be my first and last time coming here.
google avatar

L.A. K.

Yelp
I was going to make an online reservation around 6:30, but only 8pm was available, so we took our chances and walked in. We were seated right away. Service was friendly and quick. Drinks were good. The hot and sour soup and the shrimp dumplings were very good. My husband had the chili pepper chicken chunks and egg fried rice. He liked it a lot, he just wishes there was some sauce on it. I had the wagyu beef lo mein. also very good and they accommodated my request for no onions. The reason I did not give it 5 stars is because I feel that for the prices, I wish the entrees came out together. 3 items came out 5-10 minutes apart from the others. 3 different times
google avatar

Carolyn C.

Yelp
The food is good. Very good. We have been here for lunch a few times and we were always surprised by the lunch portions. They are massive--well worth the pricing for lunch, however, we wouldn't spend the money here for dinner. Not when it doesn't scream fancy anymore. They need a bit of a price/aesthetic check. People used to come here in full suits during lunch hours, wait in a line to be seated for dinner or even sit outside for a drink after work. When COVID hit, it turned into a hoarder's host stand. Seriously, the host stand or overall welcome area is a storage area? It is extremely off-putting and we have seen "things" on the ground around that specific area.

Kelly T.

Yelp
I ordered delivery the dragon eggplant spicy garlic pretty tasteless Not much garlic flavor and very oily I did think the flounder sour cabbage soup was good I liked the taste flavors going on

Yelp
I order takeout from here frequently. Usually Mapo Tofu. Today, I decided to change it up. I ordered Fish in Black Bean sauce. Tasty, but WAY too salty.

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised by Peter Chang (younger brother of PF Chang... lol) Decent Chinese food close to those on the East-West Hwy side of town.

Yelp
This was my first opportunity to try Q by Peter Chang. I am very familiar with his newer venture in Baltimore city, Ni Hao. I had a working lunch here and then I ordered multiple dishes as take away to take home to share with my wife for dinner (and leftovers for lunches!). Overall this location is amazing. Great ambience, decor, service, and of course food quality. I was nearby for business reasons so I cannot comment too much on the location. It seems to be relatively close to some major roads and intersections. Apps: - for lunch I had the Xiao long Bao. Simply amazing. I have never had it served in this manner: each dumpling was cradled in a small saucer which had filled with some soup (see attached photo). It is not clear to me if they steamed the dumplings in the saucers or steamed the dumplings in the traditional method and put them in the saucers for serving. If the former than I assume the soup in the saucers was created during cooking, and if the latter I assume they had cooked some soup separately that they poured over the dumplings - the pan fried dumplings that I took home were amazing even after reheating. They gave two dipping sauces, one a peanut sauce and the other a spicy sambal (I think?) sauce. Lunch entrees: - the golden (?) chicken (shredded and battered and fried, then tossed in a sticky sweet sauce) was great. Crispy and light, with a hint of savory in the sweet sauce. See my photo. (not on the website or photos on Yelp... I think they recently updated the menu...) -the Kung Pao chicken I took home reheated nicely and was perfectly spiced. Without eating the Szechuan chilies, I would rate it as a mild/moderate level of heat. The chilies were easy to identify and remove, but obviously if you eat those the spice level would be higher. Rice/noodles -The white rice was well prepared. -the yangzhou fried rice was great and reheated very nicely! Could serve as a side dish to share or as an entree. -the Wagyu beef lo mein was a little more difficult to reheat later. I seared the beef on a hot pizza stone from the oven, but unfortunately my attempt to microwave the noodles over cooked them. Despite that, this was very well seasoned and delightful as either a side dish or an entrée. Dinner entrees/dishes: - the sweet and sour pork is a huge portion! We got this as take away and it traveled very well. The pork was lean, well prepared, and delicious! Unfortunately this location is too far for me to return regularly, but if I ever get the chance I absolutely will come back!

Yelp
Wow the food was amazing!!! It was super duper flavorful and good! I had always heard about it for years from various people and it lived up the hype! It was amazing! Service was top notch they brought things out very fast and they were super nice! The ambiance is a bit higher end and it is in the middle of Bethesda row! Came here after a closing, a great way to celebrate!
google avatar

Andrew H.

Yelp
Food is very good with lots of authentic flavors but it is also quite pricey. Maybe that is to be expected for being in Bethesda. If youre looking for chinese take out, skip Q but if youre wanting authentic flavors and dont mind paying for it give Q a try.

Farand L.

Yelp
Service was decent.. Food however was disappointing.. Peking duck's skin was soggy and cold.. Dragon eggplant was greasy and flavorless...just oil and partially cooked eggplant Wuxi sweet and sour pork was sickly sweet. Plain white rice was undercooked with kernels still raw in the middle. Never coming back again.
google avatar

Lynette M.

Yelp
Of course this is one of Peter Chang's pricier restaurants. It's good to eat here for special occasions like the Lunar New Year.
google avatar

Constance N.

Yelp
Delicious dishes and cocktails. If you don't already know, there is an emphasis on spicy food. However, the dishes that aren't spicy are also really high quality. The food here is a great blend of traditional and inventive. And the portions are pretty generous, enough so that my friend and I were able to split two appetizers and we were plenty satisfied.
google avatar

Jess L.

Yelp
My family and I were excited to try Q for delivery, as we had heard such positive things. This spot was a notch above your average upscale Chinese - though perhaps just a single notch. The peking duck was a good portion, though upon arriving, it was on the more lukewarm side. Our other dishes had a good balance of protein and veggie, and the flavors were tasty without being too heavy or overwhelming. A little pricey, but splurge on this tasty treat.
google avatar

Jason L.

Yelp
Love this restaurant and the food. The servers are very knowledgeable and have great recommendations. The ambiance is generally quiet and easy for conversation. The prices are on the high side but haven't had a bad meal here in my years.
google avatar

Alyssa L.

Yelp
Dinner here was delicious. I'd gotten food once from here but it was delivery, so I was excited to try it in person tonight. We got the scallion pancakes which are not your normal scallion pancakes--they come out as giant puffs. We also got the fried rice, wagyu lo mein, chicken wide noodles, Peking duck, eggplant, veggie dumplings, and lettuce wraps. All was delicious and came out super fast! Also appreciated the lazy Susan tables for large parties like ours. We didn't order dessert but they sent out dessert on the house for us, not totally sure what it was but some sort of egg drop soup with fish cakes(?) in it? Not sure if I heard the waitress correctly. Also a great location and service was friendly and efficient. Will be back!

Jim H.

Yelp
Previously good, now inedible. I am a long time customer. Pre-pandemic I was a dim sum regular. After I still went, but less frequently. The dum sum and duck have always been better then the entrées. Groups if family members agreed. What I received last night from delivery (I live 2 miles away and paid for expedited delivery) was literally inedible: General Tsao's Chicken and sesame noodles. The chicken tasted like uncooked tofu with an orange food coloring. The sesame noodles where a nasty glow even after reheating them (I tried them as is first). That experience has pretty much scared me off Q entirely. My last in person meal was underwhelming but not THAT bad.

Jeff H.

Yelp
We went there for a private Father's Day celebration. The owner prearranged the dinner courses for us. Everything is delicious. The Peking duck skin is crispy ; the soup is delicious. The steamed fish is fresh and yummy. The 小笼包 is full of soup. The service is awesome. The private room is beautifully decorated. Overall very delightful experience.
google avatar

Yelp
A grab and go place very friendly but not much of a scene. Just grab and go. The food is very good. Great portion and good services.
google avatar

Emily H.

Yelp
Peter Chang continues to shine with Q. Excellent authentic Sichuan cuisine. The spicy fish was a group favorite little bit pricey, but you're paying for quality. The peeking duck is their specialty, but we didn't get to try this run. Will definitely be coming back and will visit some of Peter Changs restaurant.

Yelp
I can't believe it took me so long to come here! It's in an unexpected location, in the first floor of an office building across from Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School. But once inside, it's a great experience. Bright and bustling - packed on a Saturday night. I went with a group and we sat in the private room so I'm not sure if everything we ordered was on the regular menu. I got to try at least eight dishes, which was amazing. Fried shrimp dumplings were the best I've ever had, filled with sweet shrimp. We had soup dumplings next, each one a gorgeous little packet. Peking duck was definitely the highlight, with the crispest skin I've ever had. We then had a series of dishes, including scallops and vegetables, and spicy eggplant. Some of the dishes felt a little identical to each other, with similar sauces. But everything was delicious. I'll definitely go back. Also, Door Dash delivers it!
google avatar

Ray C.

Yelp
It's never been so true that to find a great Chinese Restaurant on Yelp, you have to look for the ones which has 3 stars - a bunch of great reviews for the authentic, delicious tasting food, dragged down by numerous 1 star reviews complaining how they messed up General Tsao's chicken. Not from the area, I took a shot at this place for Peter Chang's name, and also some of the great reviews here. I would say this place really blew away my expectations. From the appetizers - juicy, mouth watering Xiaolong Bao, fried hot eggplant, and the ball shaped pancake, to the main dishes - Peking Duck, truffle beef, string beans, sweet and sour pork, and wok spicy seafood, everything was really, really well done. I'm especially impressed by dishes which showed authenticity to outside of the Sichuan region (like the Duck and Xiaolongbao), but of course they also do Mala very well, being a Sichuan restaurant. It is definitely a gem!

Yelp
My family came here around 6 pm on a Thursday evening without a reservation for dinner. Initially, the hostess said she wasn't sure when she could seat us since they had many reservations for the night. However, we were luckily able to get a table within 15 min of entering. My first impression was that the restaurant was very nicely decorated with large light fixtures hanging from the high ceiling and a majestic dragon amongst them. The restaurant was very spacious with a separate private room available. We ordered the seafood stone pot with curry, beef stir fried wide noodle, scallion bubble pancake, yangzhou fried rice, dragon eggplant with spicy garlic sauce, salt and pepper calamari, and a half Peking duck. The stone pot had a good amount of seafood and thankfully wasn't spicy. The beef in the beef noodles were very tender, but weren't seasoned well enough. The pancake was unique in that it was puffed up, but I found the pancake to be lacking in flavor, probably due to the lack of scallions. The fried rice had good authentic Chinese flavor and the eggplant dish had slices of eggplant nicely laid out in a ring. The sauce was interesting in that it was sweet, and not spicy as the name suggested, but it was a bit too flavorful, which would be nicely set off with some white rice. The calamari had a surprisingly small portion size for the price, but it, along with the Peking duck, were pretty good. Overall, Q by Peter Chang would be a good place to go for special occasions, but make sure you reserve a table ahead of time!

Yelp
The restaurant is located two blocks from the Bethesda metro station with indoor and outdoor seating. The service is extremely quick I was actually taken aback by how fast the food came after we ordered. All the staff were friendly and the dishes we ordered were delicious.

Yelp
We ordered a variety of dimsum, lamb skewers, and one whole fish. Everything was delicious. The food here seems to be of a different class from Chinese restaurants I've tried in the DMV. Later I found out the founder used to cook for the Chinese embassy and this made perfect sense.

Yelp
Do not order delivery. I had to wait for over an hour from the time I placed my order to when it was put in the hands of my Door Dasher, and this was on a Saturday, mid-afternoon. Only two items! Food may be pretty good but their complete indifference towards delivery customers couldn't be more obvious.

Yelp
This place almost merits 5 stars. I will start with the good: The Peking Duck is wonderful. It is presented in a modern stylish way with the crispy decadent skin precisely cut and separated from the tender meat. The half portion was filling for two and affordable. Craving a campy Polynesian drink? This place makes good sweet, kitschy cocktails like Long Island Ice Tea and Mai Tai's. Now the reasons it lost a star. The scallion pancake globe is fun to look at but a little tough and uninteresting in flavor. The restaurant is very large and has a very high ceiling. While many restaurants are too dark, the lighting was too sterile and too much. However it feels empty, cold, and off, sort of garish and dated, with the vibe of a former Rain Forest cafe. The service was fine. I'll definitely return for the duck!!
